Hi there,
I just bought a used Mi 5 to replace my previous one which I lost and I saw it as a good opportunity to try out the MicroG fork of LineageOS. I flashed the newest firmware and installed the OS and it's running quite well all in all – however I have two weird problems:
1. When using mapping software my compass seems way off. Is there an easy way to calibrate it?
2. (Potentially related) The device screen sensor is flipped when held horizontally. The screen orientation seems correct when held as usual, but as soon as I try to take a picture in landscape mode they turn out flipped upside down. Can anybody explain this? Can I overwrite this somehow?
Thanks a lot for any help
PS: I can't edit the title anymore so I'll add this as a separate paragraph. I've had problems with losing my signal at random intervals since I've had the previous Mi 5, with this one it's no different. Is this a known problem for Lineage-based ROMs? Any way to improve the situation there?
Hm.. so I tried the following firmware images from github/XiaomiFirmwareUpdater/firmware_xiaomi_gemini/releases (can't link to this unfortunately):
fw_gemini_miui_MI5Global_V9.6.1.0.OAAMIFD_e569ca4e32_8.0.zip
fw_gemini_miui_MI5_V9.6.1.0.OAACNFD_996b4bcbff_8.0.zip
fw_gemini_miui_MI5Global_8.7.19_7a80214a95_8.0.zip
They all show the same behavior regarding to the camera orientation bug. It's independend of the camera app in use. I also tried enabling and disabling the Camera2 module in Magisk, which did not seem to have any effect. I found a similar issue for the front camera after enabling Camera 2, but this seems to be unrelated.
Does the same happen with non microG versions of LOS?
Have you already calibrated the compass using the gestures in all 3d axis? Search for it on youtube.
Hi,
I have a OnePlus 3T which has a bit of a focus problem, sometimes the focus just works as it should, but mostly it focusses and then glitches around that focus point. But not as normal with a smooth movement, instead it just jumps to a different focus point. Anybody had this problem yet.
Sometimes it seems as if it is just stuck at one focus point.
Any tips?
I might reset it today to exclude a software problem, the latest update said camera improvement, but I honestly don't know if the problem was also present before that update.
Is there a way to go back to the old software version I haven't installed TWRP yet
I am not much interested in camera when i bought Mi A2, it works fine. but recently when i was taking picture, it was half side blur and i was not able to make focus on upper side of camera. i tried all modes but no use. I have Note 6 Pro and it's camera functions and focus properly.
in mi A2 I observed when in MANUAL mode i select Lens as LOW LIGHT, it works (but in manual mode only).
do any one has some solution or give reason to behave camera like this.
Same here
It was a February patch bug and it seems to persist in March patch... Xiaomi.

This is a hardware problem, I also had this, give the phone a guarantee.
P.S. sorry for english(
How so we both have exactly the same problem and mine started with pie?
Looks like this is a hardware issue, I'm having the same problem after 4 months of use.
Same here, I also took it to guarantee and they told me it was a software problem, but when they gave it back to me nothing had changed. Camera still not working

I had ordered it from this website but I had paid the cheapest shipping, I'm from Mexico so it will take a while to arrive to my country.. maybe next month..
I had the same problem and replaced the camera module with a new one, and the problem was fixed... temporarily because 3 months after it started happening again with the new camera, so either I am super unlucky, or it must be some other defect in the phone that tends to breaks the primaey cameras...
At this point I don't think I am going to replace it again. Do you know of any way of recording videos with the low light camera?
I have the same issue. In fact this issue persists in the video mode as well. Its okay for videos of objects nearby but move even a few metres away and it becomes very difficult to focus. I was at this concert and wanted to record the performance but only got a very blurry video with muffled sound. For photos this issue is especially an inconvenience when taking photographs of documents etc where you could very well do without the unnecessary bokeh effect. In MANUAL mode this does reduce a bit, but not to any extent that helps.
I was just told by a friend that installing the Google camera mod might help, but I'm yet to try it out.
I have same problem with upper side blur. Seems that switching to "manual" mode and change "lens" from "regular" to "low light", as said by the original user. It works fine with me. Thanks for the tips ! ........ so it is not the hardware problem, it is a software problem. Changing camera may not work ! Don't know if they are going to release new firmware to solve it or not ?? Any idea how to upgrade the firmware ?

If it is a hardware problem I do not see why it would prevent using the secondary camera, it can be a problem with the lenses (Have you thrown or hit your phone?) and not with the module. There are those who have returned to Oreo and the problem persists.
Not sure if I have a hardware issue or a bug with 12.5.3 EU ROM.
In indoor lighting the viewfinder on my camera flickers like crazy. I've toggled every option of HDR from on auto off. Rebooted. You name it. It almost seems like the camera is rapidly changing color profiles or something odd.
I'll probably factory reset or something. Just hope it's not hardware this ea rly.
Update: It appears to be fixed by disabling the advance motion tracking that helps snap photos of kids and pets.
Glad you got it sorted and provided feedback!
My phone popped up with an update the other day. My wedding day no less. It was the one with the July security patch and said camera improvements.
Now it seems like auto focus is broken on my camera. I have tried resetting the settings in the camera app. The wide angle lense looks fine. I've tried 3rd party camera apps and they are the same. One of them popped up a message saying the lens could be dirty but I know it's not.
I'll likely try a factory reset next before I send it back but just wondering if anyone else has this issue. Not sure if it's a hardware or software issue.
Ok so I've read online... Hit it!
Sure enough a sharp tap on the side and it suddenly auto focused still not sure if that's hardware or software but it seems many people on the Samsung forum have the same issue.
Wow...that sounds scary..almost like OIS locked the lens and was not letting go.
Yeah I'm still not sure if it's a hardware fault or what but it can't be healthy for it. I'm glad I'm not the only one but a little worried about it.
There has got to be more people with this issue?!
I am also facing the same issue since the August software update. From my previous experience with note 20 ultra I can tell that is a software bug that can be fixed by an update. But I wonder when they addresses the issue and fix it.

My network O2 have accepted it as a repair request. I have had an email saying they are sending out a REPLACEMENT device. Not my original one repaired... I'm wondering if this means it is indeed a hardware fault.
Same problem here also. Blurry on zoom. Zoom doesn't work anymore. Not bigger than x9.9
Same here since the last update. I'd say odds on 90% Chance software issue rather than hardware.
The July update is the issue I think. Before then no issues at all
I'm nothing this too. Stuck on the the July update here in Aus and thr camera constantly blurry
