Hi,
I have a OnePlus 3T which has a bit of a focus problem, sometimes the focus just works as it should, but mostly it focusses and then glitches around that focus point. But not as normal with a smooth movement, instead it just jumps to a different focus point. Anybody had this problem yet.
Sometimes it seems as if it is just stuck at one focus point.
Any tips?
I might reset it today to exclude a software problem, the latest update said camera improvement, but I honestly don't know if the problem was also present before that update.
Is there a way to go back to the old software version I haven't installed TWRP yet

Just wondering if anyone had stability issues with the lens/display from camera after an upgrade? there seemed to be a Camera firmware upgrade as well at the same time? since then the lens seems to be hunting to focus .. you can hear the motor/lens trying to do some work - going into manual mode and switching off stability control makes things better but auto-mode certainly has an issue
I have also noticed that the auto focus is not working as well as before the update to 4.1.2. I had quite a few situations in which it refuses to focus in good light conditions. And I could not find a good workaround for this beside a reboot.

is there any way of easily regressing back to 4.1.1.... Does samsung know there is a bug/fault - couldnt find a way of reporting it to them unless its via their warantee programme?
I just noticed recently my Note9 buzzes and vibrates when I use the 2x zoom. It does focus fine though. Anyone else has experienced this?

Yes
Mines doing it too. Did you figure out why ? The picture gets wavy too when zooming.
so its continuously buzzing when zoomed in or only when zooming for the small amount a time when switching to 2x
Didnt figure out why it does this. I even tried a complete factory reset. I will send it in for repair. It gets wavy and fuzzy if i try to focus and there is a bright lihht source in the frame. It buzzs and vibrates when it is trying to focus. It stops when it manages to focus properly.

Yeah that doesn't sound right. I've got the N960F too and zoom works fine in all modes that support it.
My guess is the aperture is freaking out. When changing aperture manually, you can just barely hear and feel a tiny click. It something was wrong with it, it might be rapidly changing apertures causing the buzzing maybe?
I just tried and listened in a silent room and I hear nothing.

Put it right up to your ear and you might be able to hear it when switching. It's really quiet.

Yep that happened on my Galaxy S2 after 2 years of use. Trying to focus but buzzes until it locks in...sounds like a hardware issue. My note 8 is fine.
I just tested this and there's no sound when using 2x zoom in auto mode.
Mine is doing this too. I find if i shake the phone it will stop vibrating. It sounds like something getting jammed. I have this phone with T-Mobile and i have the jump plan. Should i send this to them to fix or replace? Or should I contact Samsung? I don't want to have to pay for anything if its a hardware defect on a phone I've never dropped. So its not damaged from me.
I have this problem from the beginning- 1 week. Now i have the new update but the problem is still there.
When the 2x zoom lens try to focus, it makes vibrations and weird noises, and it can't focus... on sammobile someone has the same problem, i think it's a bigger problem.
Should i call the "samsung guard n9" and get a new one?
I've just had the new firmware update which was mostly camera related features, and now on 2X I'm getting this buzzing. What the heck is going on? A quick search on Google reveals a lot of people seem to be experiencing the same...

Your camera is switching and focusing to x2 normal as it should, right? The only thing you notice is the sound that comes from the module when switching? If so, your camera is fine. Even my s7e have sound from the OIS like clicking... working 2.5 years later like a champ and a lot of users reported it. Guess it's something similar here. If the camera module is broken, it will not focus and/or lead to other noticeable problems. If the sounds is too intrusive for you, you can send the phone for a repair/inspection.

No no, it's worse than that. When I switch to x2, when it's working normally it focuses and then it's fine. However, now it's failing to focus, the image is blurry and wavy and the device is physically buzzing (very gently but clearly attempting to do something mechanical and failing). Switching back to x1, it stops buzzing and focuses again.

The camera module is failing (you just described what was common camera module failing on HTC M8 back in the days, had a friend with it also), this can't be fixed via software, sadly it's for a service repair.

If you pinch to zoom while in camera mode does the zooming in appear wavey and stuttering? Someone else showed a video of this and it was a faulty camera apparently.

Give mi 5 minutes i will post a YT link with my "buzzing".
https://youtu.be/YOmI_WbZQyM
Here you have it. I know- ****y quality, but you can see what the problem looks like.
Samsung call service said, that they hear about this problem first time. I can give it to the service but the door-to-door 1 day service dosn't work, becouse they think noting is broken...

They are mistaken...it's an old issue that even affected my Galaxy S2...something gets loose and it has trouble focusing right (hence the noise). At first it works anyways, but over time it can degrade further. Hardware issue...would get it fixed if under warranty.

Mine has this issue as well. by any chance do mount ur note9 onto a bike or a motorcycle?
I am not much interested in camera when i bought Mi A2, it works fine. but recently when i was taking picture, it was half side blur and i was not able to make focus on upper side of camera. i tried all modes but no use. I have Note 6 Pro and it's camera functions and focus properly.
in mi A2 I observed when in MANUAL mode i select Lens as LOW LIGHT, it works (but in manual mode only).
do any one has some solution or give reason to behave camera like this.
Same here
It was a February patch bug and it seems to persist in March patch... Xiaomi.

This is a hardware problem, I also had this, give the phone a guarantee.
P.S. sorry for english(
How so we both have exactly the same problem and mine started with pie?
Looks like this is a hardware issue, I'm having the same problem after 4 months of use.
Same here, I also took it to guarantee and they told me it was a software problem, but when they gave it back to me nothing had changed. Camera still not working

I had ordered it from this website but I had paid the cheapest shipping, I'm from Mexico so it will take a while to arrive to my country.. maybe next month..
I had the same problem and replaced the camera module with a new one, and the problem was fixed... temporarily because 3 months after it started happening again with the new camera, so either I am super unlucky, or it must be some other defect in the phone that tends to breaks the primaey cameras...
At this point I don't think I am going to replace it again. Do you know of any way of recording videos with the low light camera?
I have the same issue. In fact this issue persists in the video mode as well. Its okay for videos of objects nearby but move even a few metres away and it becomes very difficult to focus. I was at this concert and wanted to record the performance but only got a very blurry video with muffled sound. For photos this issue is especially an inconvenience when taking photographs of documents etc where you could very well do without the unnecessary bokeh effect. In MANUAL mode this does reduce a bit, but not to any extent that helps.
I was just told by a friend that installing the Google camera mod might help, but I'm yet to try it out.
I have same problem with upper side blur. Seems that switching to "manual" mode and change "lens" from "regular" to "low light", as said by the original user. It works fine with me. Thanks for the tips ! ........ so it is not the hardware problem, it is a software problem. Changing camera may not work ! Don't know if they are going to release new firmware to solve it or not ?? Any idea how to upgrade the firmware ?

If it is a hardware problem I do not see why it would prevent using the secondary camera, it can be a problem with the lenses (Have you thrown or hit your phone?) and not with the module. There are those who have returned to Oreo and the problem persists.
Hi guys, according to my old thread; https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a2/help/lots-issues-updated-to-android-9-pie-mi-t3881173
Since I updated my A2 to Android 9.0 Pie, I found that its portrait mode seems close to be useless.
It only focuses on the subject which is located on the middle of the frame, I cannot tap anywhere else in the frame to focus. In addition, locking focus doesn't help at all.
This issue has been appearing since the first Pie update, and is not fixed til now. I send my feedback to Mi every single update patch, but seems all my feedbacks are completely useless.
Any other modes work fine, both camera performs perfectly. There's only the mentioned issue in portrait mode.
Please note that I already tried factory reset, but it doesn't help fix the issue. Moreover, I found that many users also face this issue, so I am extremely sure that there's not only me.
Since the issue has never been fixed, so I wonder if you guys have any good suggestions to fix the issue, or any ideas how to force Mi to fix this big bug for us?
Ever since I updated to EMUI 9.1.0.240 (or at least I only noticed this problem after installing that version) the image stabilisation on my zoom camera is not working.
I'm able to take photos, but the lens itself is constantly shaking around causing blur. I can hear it making these movements (like a buzzing sound) and can even see if moving if I look at it in the right light.
Interestingly, videos on the zoom camera are stabilised fine, so I can take snapshots whilst shooting in video mode, but this is far from ideal.
Anyone else experienced this? Do I need to send the phone back to Huawei?
Has nobody else had this issue?
I've never been that impressed with the 5x zoom image quality on mine, I've always found it hit & miss. I can't hear the focus motor 'seeking' for a lock on mine though....but my ears aren't the best, so it could be I guess.
I'm still on Android 9 too. Was hoping Android 10 might improve things when I finally get the update....though not holding out TOO much hope, but ya never know!
Sometimes I experience this issue. I hope to fix it with next updates.
So randomly it is now working fine. I have no idea why. The only things that happened recently were:
1. I went abroad, so flight mode was used.
2. My phone died overnight once - I was in a place with really bad signal and it went from 80% to dead so I wonder if it ate up the battery trying really hard for a signal.
Either way, it's working fine now since I turned it back on. Really weird. It has been faulty since about November.
