Evaluation app shows compatibility on my XZ2c, but Play Store doesn't have it as a compatible device. I guess you could reach out to develop and see if they will make a way for you...
It may work if you download it on a another compatible phone, backup it and install the backup on the xz2.

Response from Filmic dev :
"Thank you for your interest.
Unfortunately, Sony devices are not supported due to errors in their camera framework implementation. We hope that Sony will issue an update soon to correct the issue, in which case we will be quick to bring support.
Here is a fairly up to date list as to where things currently stand on Android, if interested:
Google Pixel 2: 100% supported.
Google Pixel 1: optical stabilization not available, and auto focus is not working perfectly.
Samsung S9/S9+: No access to high speed framerates on Snapdragon version (Exynos supports 4k60fps). More info available here.
Galaxy S8 and Note 8: no [email protected], auto focus not working perfectly on Note 8, cinematographer kit not available in 4K (limited mode is used). More info here.
Galaxy S7: no [email protected], cinematographer kit not available in 4k.
LG Devices: no manual ISO/Shutter but exposure compensation, no [email protected], auto focus not working perfectly.
Sony devices and the OnePlus5 are not supported due to errors in their camera framework implementation.
In addition please take into account that some models have many different implementations, so they don't work exactly the same way. Also, frustratingly, these "issues" depend on the manufacturers' implementation, because not all of them follow the Android Guidelines for Camera API2."
i guess we should wait for the next update then too bad our xz2 have compatibility issues, there must be another way

Has anyone tried using the Google Camera HDR+ software on the XZ1 or XZ1 Compact yet? Can you post some comparison shots to see if there's a significant improvement?
EDIT: According to this guy on reddit who has a XZ1 Compact, it doesn't launch:

Damn. That's a bummer!
Yeah it's a real shame given Sony's imaging prowess with things like the Alpha camera series. One of the features that I'm kinda expecting as the norm now.
A bummer indeed. Is there any chance it will support RAW in the future or is there no chance whatsoever?
According to this article the app just received RAW support, it also says: "the app will simultaneously capture both a RAW image and JPG one with HDR+ effects" which leads me to believe it should work on the XZ1 in due time.

Wish someone could ask the dev about XZ1 support.

Unless the XZ1's camera drivers are modified to provide RAW support either trough a Sony update or mods, that's not going to happen.
So the ported Google Camera APK works for all SD835 phones except Sony?! Yet another reason to get a Pixel 2.

on AOSP the google camera works including portrait mode
If you want make HDR Fotos than you can use the camera app "a better camera" it makes HDR photos very well, it takes 3 photos one with more light, one normal light and one with low light and put them together.
For me by fare the best camera app with HDR!

This has to be ported in the future.. I'm really trying to avoid the root/perpetual flashing treadmill but if the benefits over stock continue to increase....

Exact same page as you. I thought my rooting/flashing days were over in buying this "modern" phone but it looks I'll have to brush up on my TWRP how-to's
I have found this in a reddit forum
I am prevented for posting URL so just go to reddit and add the below
/r/Android/comments/73u1w4/latest_modified_google_camera_with_hdr_version_40/
Its worked for me, Though not sure yet the pictures are HDR or not,
After several crashes, the setting which work for me .
The main setting which stopped crashing the app is
Support level override - LIMITED_JPEG
and after that all the settings worked for which are stated in the app.
Video is not working though in this app.

I recently contacted support and here is their response:
Thank you for writing in. Actually, we are currently working to officially support the Huawei P20 Pro in the near future, but it is yet to be released because it is requiring major changes in the code. As it stands, it is not possible to implement manual white balance functionality and the device has no support for high bitrates.

So that's means P20 Pro wont get Filmic Pro because Huawei color OS?
Not sure but they're definitely working on it. Here's some more info:
"It's my understanding that the Huawei P20 Pro has enough correct implementation of the Camera 2 API for FiLMiC Pro to support the device as soon as we get the white balance and bitrate issues handled."
Have you tried using Open Camera on the P20 Pro yet?
I tried it ages ago but didn't like the UI, I've heard that it doesn't have the "post sharpening" which is good for some poeple
Filmic works fine on my P20 Pro.
Oh okay cool, They must've updated it

Hello everyone!
Creating this thread in order to clarify some details about our device.
I recently bought it (Europe version-xt1085,3Gb RAM/32gb) but instead of a SD625 it has a SD626. How is it possible? And giving the fact that there are rumors that also note that our camera sensor is a Sony IMX 258 Bayer and not a samsung CMOS makes me doubt much of the initial information provided or found. Can somebody please post different screenshots from the first page of CPU-Z and also to check system/etc/camera for camera msm Sanders XML for those who have the device rooted? I do not want to root it yet as Oreo updates are rolling in a couple of days.
I also want to find a solution to exceed the limitations of the software processing of the camera to the full potential of the sensor (if it is a Sony one indeed).
Thank you
Also take a look at the attachment.
Ok
SD 626 too
Mine also says Snapdragon 626, it's a CPU-Z bug. But regarding the camera sensor I have no idea if there's any way to improve the image quality via modifying the image processing.

I checked with different applications. You might be right. It is very odd tho.
What about the camera files?
If you go to Moto G5 Plus's theming and modding forum, you'll see a thread explaining how. And how it gives rise to possibilities of other devices as well.

You can see clearly the name S5K3L8 as the rear sensor (mono&rgb). And at the other screenshot, the name S5K4H8 which is a selfie samsung sensor. You can google both of these sensors and their details are going to match our device's details.
There are also two files of the IMX258 in the camera folder but they're useless or maybe they put it to fake the users who, like me and many more, would be pissed off if they found out what a crap of a sensor they would have in their device.
The dev of the camera improvements of G5 Plus told me that the only way of improving it is by copying the tuning of other S5K3L8 sensors used in other devices. But it is used in Xiaomi Redmi 4 and its camera is worse than ours so i don't think that is going to be a good idea. Another way actually is by modifying the libs yourself. Which i cannot do at the moment.
Just use Google Camera for taking pictures atm. Its HDR+ mode is a touch of magic.

The only way to confirm properly is to look at the hardware. Any idea where we may be able to find images of just the Samsung camera module so I can compare it the the one in my G5S+?
To be honest I'm very happy with the way my HDR+ photos turn out.
My family are convinced this has a better camera than the iPhone SE from using gcam, so the phone must be somewhat capable of good photos Low light photos are crap though, tons of noise.
EDIT: Samsung specs say the S5K3L8 sensor is capable of only 30fps. Given we can record 1080p/60fps maybe it isn't that sensor?
That's strange, my g5s plus can only shoot 1080p/30fps. I don't know if it was after the latest camera update or not.
Edit: my mistake, apparently i was looking at the front camera settings. The rear camera can shot 1080p/60 just fine and are up to 30fps 4k

The samsung sensor is capable of shooting 4k videos but it is not enabled in most devices that are using it. For example in Xiaomi Redmi devices. I do not know precisely why and how but any speculation would bring no improvement to the camera whatsoever.
Hello guys, I need some help... I'm using my smartphone camera for recording seminars and such... When using S8, it is rooted an I can remove camera limitation... I don't intend to root my Note 9, so can I ask for an alternative ways to record without limitation? I checked open camera already, but for some reason it says video quality not supported when opted for a 1080/60 settings. I'm using an exynos version though, so perhaps it is the cause.
Well, when I'm using S8, I can record 1080p 60fps for roughly 2 hours without issue, so I have confident that recording in Note 9 won't give problem.. I really hated samsung's limitation

Astrophotography isn't that easy to port. A major reason why even Pixel 2 and OG Pixel will not receive this feature is because of hardware limitations. Even if the developers manage to port the feature somehow, it won't give you optimal results. Although the image processing highly depends on the software, but the hardware capability plays a very crucial role as well. For now, I would say, have patience and see how the porting scene rolls out.
I have a Pixel 3 XL (Which is supposed to get the feature) too with the latest official Google Camera 7.2 installed, still no sign of Astrophotography on my end. I am not a developer but have read enough on the topic because I can't purchase the Pixel 4 here in India, so looking out for as many P4 camera features to be available for my Pixel 3. Sadly, Live HDR+ and Dual Exposure controls won't be available for my device too.
Update: cstark27 has released a port of GCam version 7.2 and has managed to enable Astrophotography on the Pixel 2 (of course, the port is universal like always), along with several other changes. It's worth trying the port on the Mi A3 too. Here's the link to the release notes.

Yes, but what I meant was that the results would not be as good as seen on the Pixel 4/Pixel 3/3a due to hardware. And yes, it works. You can even force-enable the Astrophotography feature in GCam.
Which mod has Focus at infinity option?
