I know generally that most unlocked Chineese phones are not Verizon compatible. But, both the OnePlus 6t and 7 pro are even though they are LTE only so I figured there may be a possibility and was curious if anyone actually attempted it.
This seems like the best phone on the market right now, it's almost $200 cheaper than the next snapdragon 855 phone in the US.

Works great on AT&T Prepaid Unlimited, typically for CDMA carriers you need to buy they're approved phones.
I'm actually on Verizon unlimited and had the same questions for them.
I installed my sim card from my previous phone LG v20. And it seems it's using the provisioning from it. All the network info was there. But couldn't seem to get data. So I used shortcut master lite and went to the telephoney part of network settings and had to play with the network settings. Got it to work really well by downloading a network settings app and playing with the band info. It's pretty straight forward and easy to use.
By the way Verizon has no idea what kind of phone I have and it says it's rooted. But it's not. Cloud works great, my Verizon, message+ and anything I throw at it from the Verizon apps. Tech support said that as long as im using my existing sim and have done whatever I did to make it work. Keep doing it. But they have no idea if they are going to setup services and get the info anytime soon.
So I got just what I always wanted.
A nice phone that they can't track or get into it unless I allow them. Perfect
This phone works fine on Verizon, I currently have both the phone and Verizon service. VOLTE works and everything, just no wifi calling
Wow! You all are using the North American Nubia Red Magic 3?
I'm usually on T-Mobile most of the year but during the summer I need Verizon where I go so I didn't consider the RM3. I usually use total wireless or StraightTalk and I've had good luck with slapping their SIM cards into different phones without an issue.
So if you all can tell me the tricks, if any, and which model (US or international) I'll pick one up ā sub $500 for S855 and big AMOLED screen!

And what about band 13 on Verizon? Isn't that the main band for them?

No band 13, but Verizon also uses bands 4 and 5 which this phone supports. I actually believe band 4 is their main band. I didn't have to do anything but put my SIM card in. Although in the past when I had a OnePlus 6T, I had Verizon provision my line to be LTE only. Don't know if that step is needed for this phone, as it supports CDMA. I'm using the North American version bought directly from Red Magic.

Thanks for the info. Band 13 (700MHz) is Verizon's main band due to its penetration and distance, according to online info, but you are also correct ā 2, 4, along with 5 and 66 all work on Verizon. If they put 71 and 13 in this thing it would have everything. So I should be able to get something in most areas.
Good to know I just need to put the SIM in. I can always activate on my old Moto X Pure.
Thanks again!

Please oh knowledgeable one, bestow upon me the settings you used to get the phone to work on Verizon. I popped my SIM in to the phone when i first got it and ZERO issues for weeks. Then recently all the sudden I no longer had any service whatsoever. No matter how much I tried to play with the settings, nothing seems to work. What appp did you use for the network settings to play with the band info? Really don't want to change carriers right now.
Please and thanks in advance :silly:

Well it was easy, phone off , installed the sim card and poof service for about 2 hours and then I had to keep toggling the airplane mode. Until I remembered when my LG V20 stopped getting signal because I had it rooted. Verizon kept trying to kick it off because they don't want rooted phones on there. And also there software constantly tries to update the phone to remove root on you.
Anyways, I m sure you know this part of Verizon. There are many variations of it. But network settings App. All pretty much show the same menu. But LTE only is what you select. And you will constantly have to go back into it and enable the data. The menu looks like this hopefully I can post it but choose LTE only.

So it basically doesn't work because you have to jump through hoops to make it kinda work?
I remember when I sold my Pixel XL, the guy was able to use it right away on Verizon with his sim card.
Did Verizon add more measures to keep people away with unauthorized phones?

Well all I really know is that they say that they just don't have any info about the phone. It has all the bands that work. Except band 13. I haven't rooted it because there still isn't a functional root for it. That setting in the pic I downloaded, theres a switch that says immediate. That's changes to disabled because of the doze function. It's solely for data. I keep mine on lte only. And just have to change it from disabled to immediate. It's kinda a pain in the rear. But. Its a functioning phone on Verizon service that they say doesn't support it. No Verizon apps except cloud and My Verizon. With limited access. It's great as far as I'm concerned. Biggest problem with Verizon. Is Verizon.
But as soon as a functioning root is available and im comfortable I'll root it and enable band 13. I'm pretty sure it's there. Just Verizon won't pay to get the access to the phones. So there's that.
One more thing the OnePlus 7 pro works on Verizon with some GSM function. There support just won't try to do it on the RM3. Other option is you have a second Sim slot. Get you another sim card and that takes care of emergency stuff.
Guess I'll be buying the best gaming phone ever made, the Red Magic 5G next! Sorry Verizon, it's time to move on. Or you can support this baby and make a lot of money.

I've had my N6 for a week and a half now; when I ordered it, I requested a Nano SIM from Verizon. It took longer than I expected for the new SIM to arrive, so I decided to just cut down my existing Micro SIM. Did that, installed into the N6, up and running no problem.
The Nano SIM finally showed up, and I swapped it in thinking there'd be no issue. Unfortunately when I start it up, I get a notification to "Sign into network", and when I open that, I receive a screen that says "Cannot Activate Your Device". I talked to VZW on their chat and then on the phone; the tech on the phone was asking for the IMEI which I provided, he said their system did not recognize the number and he'd have to submit a request to have it added to the database, which would take 24-48 hours, and that I could swap in my old SIM in the meantime. No problem, until I switched my old SIM back in and it doesn't work anymore either....
Any suggestions?
Sounds like you were better off keeping them in the dark. I read an article somewhere can't remember where saying that Verizon wouldn't activate any n6 that weren't purchased directly from Verizon. I wouldn't be surprised if that were true.

It does seem that way. Mine came from GPS. Told them that when I requested the new SIM and they didn't give me any problems...it was "sure, confirm your address and we'll send it".
The tech I was dealing with genuinely seemed to want to figure out a way to get it to work.
My thought is to try to get my SIM back in a phone that is unquestionably on Verizon's system, but I'll have to find a nano to micro adapter to do that with my wife's phone, for instance.
I was able to find a nano-micro adapter, and reactivate my old SIM in an old Galaxy S3 we had laying around, and swap it into my N6.
LTE data is working, but voice isn't for some reason (when I place a call, it'll ring once and then "Welcome to Verizon Wireless, your call can not be completed as dialed. Please check the number..."
ETA: Voice issues were some kind of glitch with Advanced Calling/VoLTE. I disabled it from my line, reactivated it and went through that whole process again and now it's working.
This post summarizes the VZW issues with the non-VZW N6: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=59970721&postcount=121
Read the whole thread if you want details, but it seems clear to me the VZW is breaking FCC regs by only allowing N6's purchased from them on their network.
It does seem you have other issues going on here though. My N6 worked great, it just cost me my $25 "bring your own device" discount when I plugged in my existing SIM.
Please let us know if you succeed in getting your N6 recognized on VZW's network. My request to add mine to their network was denied in about 5 minutes.
Same issue on b2b plan
I'm having the same issue on a B2B plan. I am currently trying to find someone w/ a Verizon android. Seems like there are grounds for a complaint through FCC regulations though, no?

Yeah it would need a lot more than just support for LTE band 13 to work on Verizon. The CDMA bands/radios are still 100% necessary - at least for now. In addition to all of the other LTE bands Verizon supports.

Yea, I guess I am missing something here. I found that you can't enable Band 13 without rooting and disabling other bands. Shouldn't an unlocked nexus 5 just need access to Band 13 and be registered on Verizon's network in order to use LTE Band 13?
I appreciate all of the answers. I'm a bit new to this whole process, and never understood US network space before today. so thanks

Hi Everyone,
I've been reading the reviews and specs for the MI5 Pro and am considering purchasing one. GSM/CDMA support, 128Gb Storage, etc. sounds great to me.
My plan is to have something with an unlocked BL so I can root, TWRP, and AOSP it just the way I want it.
Before I do how much of a pain will it be to getting working on Verizon's 4G/LTE networks? If I understand what I am reading correctly it supports all the frequency bands on Big Red. Any thoughts? Comments and suggestions are requested on this.
Thanks in Advance
I should also add this is not for the BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) program. I have a monthly plan and am up for a new device but don't want what they offer.
I highly doubt you'll be able to get it to work on Verizon. Even unlocking GSM bands is a pain.

I don't specifically know about verizon, but our local CDMA carriers do work with the Mi5.
Cdma carriers the us only allows approved devices.

The more I research this the more dim the results look. It seems that the problem with bringing it to a CDMA network is lack of 4G functionality. Definitely a deal breaker for sure......
Verizon only allows approved devices on their network (read: their branded devices). So there's pretty much no chance of your Mi5 (an unapproved, semi-compatible, and untested device as far as they are concerned) getting on the network, as your MEID needs to be in their system for you to connect to their network.
Stick with an actual GSM carrier.

I knew that was how they were in the past but I thought maybe they loosened up on it. They now have a Bring Your Own Device program. Still doesn't get past getting 4G working flawlessly on CDMA.
I need to look deeper at GSM carriers in the US. Coverage in my area is important for work.
I just saw you message and it is a bit late, but I have the Mi5 and use it on Verizon. It is only 3G on that. I can also use both my Verizon Sim card and my AT&T sim at the same time and have two carriers with two different numbers on the same phone. I had to do nothing to get it to work on Verizon other than pop in the sim card. I hope this helps.
Thanks DFSPCC, I was wondering the same thing and having it listed to work with VZN in the US on willmyphonework.net up to 3G speeds, which is fine by me. Considering the low price at the moment for the Mi5, I think is a great option.
Never to late
I'm considering on getting this phone... 5.7 inch with OK specs to work with Verizon only thing is you said 3g but that's OK its just to play and test hopefully I can root it... Don't knkw if they have any Roms for it..... Ive been HTC for over 10 yrs and they have let me down been waiting for a 5.7 or bigger... The max was nice but bad specs realy slow so.... I was going to do the s8 plus but now I see the U12 coming soon. But i don't know if Verizon will carry it... They don't carry the U11 don't know why.... What do you think? And thanks again for your time and help god bless....

Hello,
I just received my Mi Mix yesterday, and I'm trying to get a nano sim card from Verizon to switch from my Galaxy Note 4. The person at the store told me the MEID on the Xiaomi doesn't work on their network and to find an MEID from another android phone that isn't in use. I was told they won't give me a nano sim unless they can input this MEID number into their system to program the sim card. I'm not great with phones and ROMs but I really liked this phone so I purchased it. I know I will need to change APN settings when I get the sim card, but I haven't got that far yet. If need be, I can switch networks, but I am curious as to how those people with the phone on the Verizon network were able to get it to work. Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

Google the APN settings for mix, I'm have been using it just fine in CA.
have you galaxy note 4 activated. take the sim card out of it and place in the mix and use the same APN settings. done.
that being said every area is different and you may have better coverage with tmobile or at&t. verizon should be in most cases the worst lte coverage of the 3, it was for me with this phone by far.

Yes, friend is using it. Doesn't seem to support carrier aggregation, Verizon calls it lte advanced.

Work fine for me in SF Bay area and Houston TX, zero signal when I cross the border to Louisiana though...I'm sure that's just the rural area.
Does carrier aggregation work on Verizon?
I popped a friends sim card into my Mi Mix last week and it worked just fine. It showed VoLTE also. Not sure about carrier aggregation. It did behave a little weird though... it showed two different radio bars. One was LTE and then it showed a 1X bar. Both were very small. I verified data worked and I was able to make calls though. Switching to verizon this week when my G6 shows up. Gonna try my Mi Mix on verizon for a few days and see how it works all around the area and if it works fine I'll probably just keep it and sell the G6.

I am totally in if this thing will run on Verizon anyone have any idea if there will be a buy one get one offer like with the Note 10?
The ROG phone 1 seems to have the bands for Verizon 4G and 3G (even though 3G will be dying at the end of the year).
https://www.findpare.com/smartphone/asus-rog-phone-8gb-512gb/mobile-carriers
They haven't annouced which bands the ROG II will support yet, unless I missed it.
Verizon uses bands 1, 2, 4, 13 and 66. It supports Bands 1, 2, 4, 13, but doesn't support 66, which is pretty much just a re-label of 4 with AWS-3, and its in very few areas. 13 is the important band, because its Verizon's mainline 4G LTE band, so apparently the ROG Phone II supports it, which is good.
Sweetness, so does that mean it will work natively with all the regular functions like text voice and data?
Moving from note 10 in a hurry...

They don't know! You are wasting your time even calling Asus and Verizon. The thing you need to understand is when you call into these call centers you are one step away from talking to a robot. Everything they tell you is from an internal website or a automated wizard they have up on the screen, and if the employee doesn't know the answer they are going to give you a best case scenario answer so you don't ***** at them and leave a bad survey. Trust me, that's how it works. Save your time and patience!
The general consensus seems to be that it has the right bands but Verizon has not approved it for their network and thus it won't work. Also no CDMA radio to fall back on should you be out of LTE range.

Put my Verizon sim in yesterday to test, got 4G+ data, called Verzion gave them the IMEI and they submitted a form for me s/b done today or tomorrow to get it up and running on their network. Call Verizon tech support and give them your IMEI and have them check if it registered on the network. If they say yes have them put in a form to add it to the network.

So how do you guys plan on making phone calls? No CDMA, no volte.

I'm not exactly sure, but when I put my Verizon sim in Slot 2 I get a signal.

Yes, I have. You will only have data....no calls. Even if vz adds phone to data base, volte is disabled in the US.

Not correct, I already have data w/o them adding me to the Network. Once its added and completed it will work fine even without VOLTE.

Does AT&T have Advanced calling features on none branded phones? Had a Galaxy Note 9 unlocked from Samsung and didn't work.

Lol, no it won't. Without volte the phone drops to 3g...so on tmo and att, calls work, because it's gsm bands. With vz, calls would try to drop to 3g, which is CDMA on vz, so no calls. Trust me, it's not gonna work, unless we figure out volte working.

If you say so, because using a Tmobile sim right now and have that issue. Spoke to my friend an engineer at Verizon and gave him all the specs. He said as long as it registers on their network and has most of the bands it should work. You're right about the No Volte which really stinks.
I'm going to keep the phone, do you know if volte and advanced calling features work with AT&T???
I have an up to date verizon note 9 although still paying for it I had it on their service for over 6 months so legally allowed to use on another service currently using it on cricket with no issues other than no VOlte which I've never had with cricket no matter what phone because I won't use the phones they have because I don't like them but that's another story....Since I can't get volte on my Verizon model note 9 that's fully updated for US I was wanting to switch to tmobile...I was set up with a sim card on their magenta plus plan worked great till I got to my home which is in a more rural area but did show verified coverage at driveway on their map I had no signal so I went to settings searched for mobile networks found tmobile listed registered and it connected like 2 bars LTE but within min lost service did it again lost service again while I had lte I was able to call and use data...so my question is could this be me using a verizon phone for it not latching on by itself or holding the signal I know note 9 has the 600mhz band but was wandering if I went ahead and got a tmobile phone if it would actually latch on and hold the signal that Verizon's addons and changing is playing well with tmobile...UNLESS someone can tell me how to get VOlte on cricket with this note 9 then I wouldn't need tmobile then 3g calling has went to crap over a year....thankyou for any input

All N960U and N960U1 devices are EXACTLY the same. The only difference between the devices is software.
Flash the software for the carrier your running including the Userdata for you Note 9. It should work for all features especially on T-Mobile. T-Movile fully allows unlocked devices on their network whereas Verizon doesn't. I'm pretty sure at&t is like Verizon through when it comes to unlocked devices, and they own cricket so that rule probably trickles down to them as well.
You can get all carrier version of software for your Note 9 on samfirm or sammobile

But my question would be would my phone latch on to tmobile towers using tmobile firmware better than my current state using verizon firmware I'm excluding wifi calling and volte just trying to determine if I would have a difference in service availability picking up towers and holding them with stronger lte signal or if it's just poor coverage both ways and will be no different than you for your advice as well

You will not have a difference in coverage. T-Mobile did the same thing with where I live and listed it on their map as being fully covered. I barely get LTE at my house or anywhere in my neighborhood.

You will never know until you try it, so why not try it and find out? Make it an SM-N960U1. Debloated and ready to go with any sim you install. Flash the unbranded firmware that can work on any of the US providers. That's what I have, and when I loaded a T-Mobile sim, I got VoLTE and wifi calling. I've run a lot of custom firmwares in the past, but this is the best phone and firmware combo I've ever had. And it's pure stock.
Also, this stock One UI with dark mode is very slick. VERY! No Substratum, no themes, no fuss. Just clean and black.

His goal is better service reception.
Only the carrier can fix that by actually providing the coverage they put on their maps.

Lots of people have reported better or worse quality service, all other things equal except for firmware/software: different radios enabled/disabled; different optimizations. I just read another thread where someone got better tmobile reception at his house after flashing tmobile software over US unlocked software. There are more variables than just the carrier side of things.

Thankyou then that kinda answers my question that although phones are equal between verizon version and unlocked internally and firmware being the difference that using a tmobile phone with their firmware I'd stand the best chance of service and since my area uses extended range area I would probably have a better experience than on my note 9 verizon...thankyou again

Yes. I think it may make no difference at all, or it might (much to gain, but nothing to lose), but most of the evidence in these forums, when it comes to connection quality, is extremely variable and anecdotal. Nobody can know an answer to this kind of question, unless they test it out for themselves. Good luck!
