X1 charging issue

This problem just started last night and I can't figure out what's the cause of it. After a few hours into charging, the phone just turns itself on and charging stops!
I'm running stock rom with a few performance tweaks. I'm not sure whether this's software or hardware related and if a hard reset would fix anything.
Cheers.
Are you charging using a PC or directly from adapter?
if from PC, click on the battery icon when the device is on and make sure that "When device is turned on, do not charge the battery when connected to the PC." is unchecked
I use the adapter to charge, I did try to untick the option afterwards and now just osberving if it does it again.
May be this's another bug when it's supposedly only applicable when charged from USB.
Charging issue and low battery life
Hi, I have had my X1 for 4 days now and overall I am very happy with the features, and I have obtained a lot of very useful tips from the XDA forum, thanks. However I am experiencing problems charging the phone and also not happy with the battery life. Last night I left the phone plugged into the USB of the pc that I installed activesync on (pc was, of course, also on) I switched the phone off and ensured that the charging light indicators were flashing. This morning the charging indicators were off but the phone was only partially charged. I then plugged the usb cable into the mains charger and the phone charged to full in 1.5 hours. Does this mean that charging via the pc is inefficient? During the day I made no calls and sent 2 texts, I did have messenger and skype running although I put the phone into sleep mode. Its now about 8pm and the battery has died. I have plugged the usb into my laptop (which does not have the activesync software on it) the charging lights are flashing but I dont think that the phone is charging as the battery is draining. I read on this forum that you must have activesync installed on the pc that you want to charge the phone on, but why is this. Whats the point of that, the whole point of being able to charge via usb is that you can top up anytime you are near a pc, and looking at the battery life I assume I will need to top up a lot. Can I have your thoughts please.
i have been in the same position.
it's probably because your laptop / pc is in hibernate mode / power saving mode..hence it doesnt charge.
try disabling it and see how it goes
Thanks for the prompt reply Berlinberlin
Hi I can confirm that my PC is set to turn off monitor after 20mins and to never turn off Hard Disks and never go into standby and never hibernate. So I don't think that this is the problem but thanks for your thoughts
How long does/should it take to fully charge the phone via usb? How long does it take yours to charge? Since I wrote the post above I have had my phone plugged into my laptop but with the phone swithed off, the charging indicators lights are pulsating. I have now turned the phone on and the battery is 40% charged from being nearly totally depleted (about one hour of charging) . I do not have Activesync on this pc, so the phone will charge on any PC, I assume.
hello.
once i had one x1 charged via usb over night (with a pc with active sync)
the battery depleted the next morning and it doesnt turn on again
so maybe it's better to quit active sync before charging?

The charging problem I've observed has a different effect:
when on charge using the adaptor, the battery charges OK to full and then charging ceases (as it should do)
BUT
if the X1i is connected to WiFi on my LAN, after a time (maybe 30 mins), it commences to recharge and never stops, so the battery can become dangerously overheated.
Disconnecting from WiFi and soft-reset seems to bring the system back to normal.
At this stage I don't know the root cause, but I have a new battery on order. When this turns up, I'll try the same routine and post results. Obviously, I suspect (hope, too) that the "smarts" in the battery are faulty.
x1 charging problem
I' have the same problem with my x1 charging.
The phone after i started charging, turn on and stop the charging.
In the mornig the battery is low.
Is there any solution that fix the problem?

In your case I tend to think the problem is with Wi-Fi using more battery than what it's gaining through charging. I had similar problem with a generic mini-USB charger. Most charging problems are associated with either battery or charger itself.
Even i had a same issue,
But i luckily remembered the setting which i had changed,
Try this,
Setting`s->System-> Power-> Advanced Tab
{code}
Make sure u have selected this option and set it to minimum value,
"Turn off device if not used for"
{code}
Hope this solves issue

Galaxy S drain to 0% while on AC power

Hi,
I have recently moved to Gingerbread 2.3.5 (JVS) on Galaxy S. I am now facing a strange battery issue: Whenever I put the phone on AC power it charges to 100% but then stops charging and never restarts it unless I manually unplug and replug the cable.
If I unplug it 1 hour after I hear the full-charge beep it will show 98%. Not much of a problem.
But last night I used WLAN hotspot, which drains a lot of battery. I plugged the phone to provide enough power. At one point I heard the full-charge beep. 2 hours later when I unplugged it it showed 27%! Why didn't it restart charging if the battery was nearly flat?
I never had this issue with Froyo.
What could be the problem here?

You not searching a bit before posting is the problem
Don't mean to be rude or anything but there is a huge thread going on and several others were also made talking about this. Long story short:
- any gingerbread samsung rom (and all based on) in SGS has this major bug you've just experienced since day one.
- Samsung doesn't care to correct it even if they have released lots of updates that don't actually fix anything major like this. And they even have the gal to tell people they won't bother with ICS on our phone when they never got around fixing bugs this serious on their current release.
- there's no fix i'm aware of, don't bother changing kernels or anything else. Some people say changing your USB settings to MTU (kies compatible) work. I've personally tested it doesn't.
- Workarounds: either you charge your phone while it's off or you change your phone's rom to one that's not samsung related like cyanogen, miui or ICS.
Yeah!!! I have the same Problem too bro !!! But not just 27% ,I was watch video on YouTube until midnight and than unplug it.Suddenly My phone turned off by it's self. (Sorry for my bad English)

HTC One slow charging when on

Hi All,
I experience charging problems with my HTC One when the phone is turned on.
Normally I plug in my phone when I go to sleep and when I wake up it's fully carged.
But now when I wake up about 7 hours later the phone is only 50-60% completed.
I turned off my phone and continued the charge and after 1h30 it reached 100%
With the phone on it would take about 6 hours according GSam Battery Monitor.
This is already the second night I'm having troubles with charging normally...
Note that 3 weeks ago I bought this car charger with 5V/1A output.
Since then I use it every weekend in combination with a holder for GPS.
Could car charging the device while using maps hurt my phone's battery?
My HTC is completely stock so I'm not sure if a battery calibration works?
Kind regards

Battery/Charging Issue after official Android 5.02 Update

Hi all,
I updated my HTC One (m7) yesterday to Lolli 5.0.2 (OTA). I had my phone 100% charged and plugged.
Everything went perfect. However today I noticed this. I had my phone charge overnight (in airplane mode and no wifi) and in the mornign it was obviously at 100%.
I turned Wifi and Cell Signal on and left for work, when I arrived I noticed somehow higher battery consumption about (level was at bout 80%).
Like always I plugged my phone to the computer via USB (Wifi and Cell on). I check after abotu 2-3 hours and the phone was hot, and status at 50% !
Even though it was USB charging it dropped from 80 to 50. I swiched Wifi off and placed it in airplane mode and it was charging at normal (USB) speed,
of course that is not a solution (having a phone off just to charge it !).
Any ideas. Up until yesterday with 4.4 it was behaving normally (so the battery is ok).
Thx and brgds,
Alex

Thx I will try try that. I actually found that thread but didn't see the last post. I thought it was CM12 specific issue.

I tried the solution proposed on that thread :
Have you tried a hardware battery recalibration?
The battery calibration starts with the phone completely off. The steps are as follows: Charge the device for at least 10 minutes using the original charging cable in a wall outlet. With the device powered off while still plugged into the wall outlet, press and hold the volume up, volume down and power button for two full minutes. Use three fingers to hold these buttons and do not let go at any time. They will be held in at the same time for this to work. The phone will switch on and off every 15 seconds, After two minutes, you can let go, whilst the screen is on, At this point, the device should boot up and battery/charging logic will be re-calibrated.

and it improved significantly. Wall socket charging is as it was before. USB a bit slower but within the "normal" limits.
I will probably try it again to see if it improves even more.

First time I tried it, I have to admit, I was surprised by the change, I run it every couple of months now.

Pixel 5 - Charging (Connects and disconnects over and over)

Hello, While charging my pixel 5 using the official charger, the charge connects and disconnects over and over, probably half second gaps in between.
This happens when device reaches 47% and if the environment is dark ,but when I turn on room light ,this does not happen. It happened during my first charge cycle and second one.
I've done as many debugging steps as I can, and I am certain this is a bug.
Root issue: charger connects and disconnects over and over.
Can someone confirm if anyone is facing the same issue and if it's a software thing?
I haven't noticed this. That would drive me crazy, try a different wire maybe
That kind of behaviour is normally a dodgy charging port.
I've encountered this, but only with my 5 port Aukey charger that does not support PD on its USB-C port and it happens once battery is charged over 10%. Someone on Reddit also had this only with 5 port charger without PD support.
Issue does not happen on official charger from the box for me.
same here, dark environment screen on off looping
really annoying
I switched to airplane mode, did not happen again, weird.
Hello All,
Update on the original issue:
Tried to replicate the same issue in bright environment today, below is the behaviour:
1. Connected the device to charger when the battery percent is at 16%.
2. I did not notice any issue until the device is charged up to 60%. After that the charge connects and disconnects over and over for 4 times with 45 seconds to 1.5 minutes time interval. After that it's all good.
I think the fix that Google has pushed for battery percent issue is causing this.
Any thoughts?

I have not noticed this on my pixel, I would call up Google tell them that you want to return the phone and make sure they don't charge a restocking fee. Tell them that you've been really inconvenienced by this and that you do not want to be charged the restocking fee, Then rebuy the phone again. That's the only way you'll guarantee the phone will be new.
If my phone was doing that I would be heated
