Install vanced-YouTube from the above link. From inside the app go in settings/vanced settings scroll all the way down and keep clicking on the writing underneath "About" for 7 to 10 times, now click on "codec overwrite" on the top and select VP9 Codec, go one step back and click on video settings, check "Resolution checks", go on "Preferred Video quality wifi" and click on 2160, viola, your YouTube will play in 4K now. But keep in mind, in my opinion, don't enable 4K on mobile data connection cos it will drain your data very quickly. In "Layout Settings" enable new action bar and dynamic player. In "Misc" enable "ExoPlayer V2". You can also select theme, black or white or a mixture in layout settings. Hope this helps, cheers.
I have a chinese unrooted phone and have youtube vanced installed.

Thank you for your help! I'll try it out, it's useful if you zoom in the video (I guess)

Hey guys. Recently I rooted my Nexus One running on FRF91 using the 1-click root application. After that I managed to install CM6 RC2 using Rom Manager using the backup rom & wipe option. Now as far as I know 720p recording is built-in in CM 6 RC2 but when I go to Camera recording it did not give me a 720p option. I could see that the last option was Custom.
After this RC3 was launched and so I moved on to RC3 using Rom Manager again using backup rom & wipe option. After doing this I went straight to the camera video option and again I can see options High, Low, MMS, Youtube and custom. I still cannot see 720p. Can anyone guide me towards this option?
Also off-topic can someone guide me to a Desire-like theme which I can use on CM6 RC3? Also I came across Nextheme. Is this compatible with CM 6 RC3?
Thanks in advance folks.
Go into the camcorder tap the top icon for the settings. Scroll down to set the Video Encoder to MPEG4, then under settings icon scroll to the video quality and set it to 720p. You can also change the duration of the video here. I don't remember the default but I think it was pretty short.
Hey there. Thanks for responding so fast. When I go into the camera and select video recording, the top-most option is color effect. I cannot see settings. By camcorder you do mean Camera with knob towards video, is that right?
dude click the symbol that looks like a gear. then scroll until you find a 720p option.
@Jack Everyman & @ hiddengopher. Thank you guys I could finally see the required options Video quality was already selected as 720p and video encoder was already at mpeg4 & video duration is at 30 mins. So I guess the video quality option which is at the bottom of the 4 options should be set to High (30m). Is that right?

High has been changed to 720p, yes.
Videos aren't playing for me on RC3, not even through RockPlayer. Hmmm

I guess you mean the High (30m) option is for 720p recording. Anyway I am glad that this has been sorted out. Now can anyone guide me to a CM 6 RC3 compatible desire-like theme? Also I want to ensure that the trackball alert software works with such a theme. Thank you guys once again.
Is there a way to make video fit to screen with no black bars on each side when on full screen or landscape mode. My phone is currently rooted as well. Thanks

You may want to reword the thread as a question. It seems more like a statement that you have already figured this out. Just a thought.
I don't know if this works as i don't have recieved the phone yet, but try to copy the youtube link and paste it here.
stretch.site
It has sliders that let you chose your own aspect ratio. Maybe you can reach fullscreen in that way?
i think the only way you can do it is to root, install xposed, and make changes with per app settings. that should work i think
I currently download the youtube video with TubeMate, then open the clip with MX Player Pro or KMPlayer. In MX Player Pro it's possible to enable pintch to zoom, so you can over-zoom until there are no black bars visible. KMPlayer allows to zoom in a bit, which for some youtube videos is sufficient to remove all black bars, but not for the youtube videos that have black bars encoded in the video already.
Anyone successfully changed the Youtube DPI with an xposed DPI changer, to allow overzoom?
Because the aspect ratio is different, it won't happen natively. Like the other poster suggested, you need to zoom in the screen to chop off the top/bottom of the video.
just bumping this thread. Has anyone come up with a solution for per app? would love to be able to pinch-zoom native in the app.
Some apps like Netflix scale pretty damn well, most shows will take full advantage of the screen and movies will zoom to fit the width (leaving very narrow black bars), whereas youtube and iplayer leave these little black edges left and right... is a shame.
I just tried the latest guardians of the galaxy trailer and it played in full screen, i was trying to so what size that video is. Maybe new videos on YouTube are going to start being played in different ratios since the new up coming phones are 18.9
You can do it without root on every video on Youtube !
Just activate the "Magnification gesture" setting and then triple tap whenever you want to "zoom in" a Youtube video,it will still crop a little part of the video to make it full screen if the ratio is not the same though.

Native app feature from Youtube app version 12.44.54. Updated today and works fine.

please explain how you got it to work then
The Mate 10 range support HDR10 (High Dynamic Range videos). Currently the only way to view a HDR video is to download a HDR video with the HEVC codec in MP4 format and view it with the built in video player. If you watch a HDR video in YouTube, it won't be in HDR, despite the title saying so.
YouTube have updated their YouTube app for some devices that support HDR to show true HDR videos. Currently they are the Pixel, Xperia Premium, Galaxy S8, Note 8 and LGV30 I believe. Sadly not the Mate 10.
However there is a workaround.
1) Install the modded iYTBP YouTube app. Follow the guide in the first few posts. No need to root or flash. Just install the relevant apks.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-iytbp-injected-youtube-background-t3560900
2) Alternatively, the direct folder is here. Choose to install either the standard white UI or the black UI:
https://androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=226449
Not only will this app enable background play, picture in picture, pinch to zoom to fill screen and get rid of ads, but you can also spoof it to be one of the officially supported phones to enable HDR mode for our lovely Mate 10s.
3) To be able to login to your YouTube account, you need to install an apk called MicroG. Here is the direct link:
https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=961840155545591117
If your YouTube history is not working, you might have two accounts in one - your YouTube account and your Google account. Merge the two accounts together using the desktop YouTube website. If you are using an adblocker, make sure you whitelist *s.youtube.com.
4) Once both apks are installed, go to the Library tab, then tap on your profile icon and then tap on Settings. Tap on iYTBP Settings and tap on the About section several times to enable a hidden menu. Tap on Codec Override menu and from here you can choose to spoof either software or hardware HDR.
5) When you find a HDR video - like in this HDR playlist...
HDR Launch Playlist: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLyqf6gJt7KuGArjMwHmgprtDeY8WDa8YX
...play the video and tap on the 3 dots and the video qualities will show HDR next to them and choose 1080p HDR. Sadly 1440p HDR has been removed as the frame rate was not great!
6) You can either keep the un-modded YouTube app on your phone and use it for different accounts or you can disable it altogether by going to Apps in System Settings.
Enjoy and thumbs up if it helps!
Thank you for sharing mate !

Tap on either hardware or software support. Both work.
The only problem is history is not working. Otherwise its great.
Have followed the instruction on post #3 for the non-root version (just download and install the apk) and nothing. I don't get the HDR option on the clips.
I must be missing something?

I forgot to tap the about section several times to enable developer mode. The HDR toggles are back.
So on our Mate 10s, which do you guys think give you a better result? Software or Hardware HDR choice?

I was looking around in my camera settings on my Nokia 8 but couldn't find a 1080p 60fps option which surprises me since 4k 60 is available. I downloaded the Google camera port and tried it on there too but the video is zoomed in dramatically.
The spec sheet on GSMarena doesnt say 1080 60 either.
Is this a bug or does Nokia not want this phone to have 1080p 60fps? If there is a solution I'd really like to know!
Thanks.

You should try GCam but for this you should download this APK:
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/f/GoogleCamera-Pixel2Mod-Arnova8G2-V8.2.apk
-Install APK File
-Open the app then go to video settings.
-Disable image stablizer and close the app.
-Open the app again and switch video recording.
-There should be box called 30 top of the screen, tap it.
-Select 60.
You can look at this link more detail:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/nokia-8/themes/modded-google-camera-hdr-nokia-8-t3713411
(Note: I assume your default video recording mode is 1080P).

Guys, found a way to enable Electronic Image Stabilisation in the default app. This is how.
1) Open the stock camera app
2) Click on settings
3) Go down to red eye reduction and tap on it until a notification comes up saying something on the lines of you are entering additional settings.
4) Switch to video mode
5) Make sure you are shooting at less than 4k.
6) You may now toggle the Image Stabilization option in the settings.
Let me know actual effect while shooting a video
Yes It Does Work There Is A Way To Developer Mode And In Video Settings There Is A Option To Unable EIS
It works
The video is now less shaky than before
Yes it is worked just tap many time on red eye reduction option
Thank you for your research and sharing. It works I confirm. Switch to rear camera, tap and hold red eye reduction for 3 to 5 seconds, when you lift your finger there will be a toast saying developer settings enabled, switch to video recorder, head to settings again there will be an option now for image stabilization.
Just one question to thread maker, how on earth you found out this?

Frankly, happened to find about the hidden settings on another forum; but found the EIS setting disabled as I had set 4K as my camera's default video shoot resolution. At my end I only accidentally stumbled upon the 1080p setting to enable the EIS flag. Hence the first line that says found a way to make EIS work rather than found the settings.

Yes there is Zoom in EIS mode vs non EIS mode.
In hindsight may be Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro's stock camera is limited to video capture at 1080p for the same reason that our phone supports EIS till 1080p; while Xiaomi also advertises that RN5 Pro supports EIS officially.
Its a different thing that other apps have vidoe capture at 4K with EIS functional for some unknown reason in RN5 Pro..
I tried this. Now I want to go back to the stock camera and disable this camera developer mode. How can I do it? , Please help. Please!

First of all thank you sir for the providing us with useful tweak :good: but sir as normal person who's not that much into tweaking camera settings manually it's of not that much use to a person like me who likes to rely on 'Auto Mode' moreover I don't know how to use these things, coming to the point "is there any way to turn off the camera developer options (API 2) and get back to normal mode ? "
I confirm that this works for EU phone too. At least for mine.
Did anyone notice ?
once you enter camera developer mode, for each capture two photos are being saved ?
one is normal and one with tag debug !
any way to fix it ?
