Hey.
I've been given an old htc one M7 and wanted to set up to replace a Desire 626 for one of my kids to use and (importantly for them) to play Pokémon Go.
The desire 626 says it's not supported and I'm getting in a mess trying to root / magisk the desire to try and make it work... So this may be a better alternative.
It's running stock Android 5.0. if I wanted to update it to something newer (one reason for this is Family Link requires 5.1 and newer). Will I bork it so PoGo doesn't work or anything to worry about with trying to get it running something newer? I've rooted and unlocked and S-off'd devices in the past. But never used magisk (never got it working on the desire)
Thanks!
Hi Mate. The M7, sadly never received the 5.1 update. At least in Australia nothing above 5.0.x was ever released.

I was thinking a custom ROM to bump the version up so I can get family link although at the cost of his current favourite game it's a risk!
So looking for advice. Remove family link and leave on 5.0 until PoGo stops supporting that or try and upgrade. The ROMs kicking around seem to go up to Oreo?

I just recently rooted and started flashing ROMs on my T-Mobile HTC One. Something I only just noticed is that I lost the ability to make calls via wifi. Is there a ROM that will give that back to me? I don't use it often, but it would be nice to have it back.
Thanks.

This is a typical issue for custom roms. When I asked they told me that they were waiting on T-Mobile to release an update.
Only the source for 4.1.2 rom has been released, so order for that to work you will have to use a custom rom that is 4.1.2 and supports T-Mobile. Since most custom roms are now 4.2.2, that means you will have to go back through the roms older versions and run one that is 4.1.2. Basically, unless you need it badly, there is no reason to run an older rom just for that. The 4.2.2 source should be available before long and then that feature will be included in custom roms running 4.2.2 for T-Mobile.
Ah ok, that makes sense. I don't usually need it. I'm going out of country here soon, and was going to use that rather than international rates. No big deal. Thanks all!

Good evening! I apologize if this question is already answered but I could not find, if so, please forgive! The Renovate ROM 4.1 clearly shows Sprint as an Option and during install it has a button for Sprint but at the end just before reboot, it says the Sprint kernel failed. Am I missing something. It won't reboot and I have to force back to Recovery and restore Old Rom. Rom looks great so I would really like to try but can't seem to find the issue. Thanks again for your time!! Mike
I doesn't work for sprint phones, only flash roms from the sprint one forum

Actually the 4.1 version works perfectly on sprint, make sure you are flashing the right version. Saw some posts where some could no longer find it, so maybe you are flashing the 4.2. The 4.2 will boot and run just fine with TL's kernel, but no radio, no data. Don't mess with that one for now.
Really enjoyed the 4.1, but moved away since development moved to 4.2
Sent from Taptalk on HTC One on some awesome custom Rom!
Thank you! I guess I am just confused, I was looking at the change log version 4.1 but I assume you are speaking of moving from Android 4.1 to Android 4.2?? Anyway, the only version available fails to load the Sprint Boot image at the very end of the install so I guess that's my warning to stay away. Thanks much!! I will try some others that specifically say Sprint. Thanks again!!

theres no source for sense 5 android 4.2.2 on sprint. The aroma installer that has the sprint option for the renovate rom was for android 4.1.2 sense 5. currently theres talk that sprint might skip the 4.2.2 update straight to 4.3
Hey guys, long time no see.
I've been using OMJ's Sprint ONE v1.7 for a while and while I enjoy it, I feel like it's time for a change. I really like the feel of my Nexus 7 tablet (which of course is now running KK), and I was wondering if someone could recommend a similar "basic" android ROM, one that would mimic my Nexus 7, or at least have a similar feel.
I tried installing the OneDroid from CM but, even with the absolute latest version of TWRP, it still didn't work. It came back with "failed" so, oh well.
you just have to try all ROMs yourself
comparison or recommendations are not allowed here

Check @ClydeB1 index thread, has all the ROMs you can think of (and then some), make sure it says SPRINT compatible, for example ARHD 31.6 is Sprint compatible, but ARHD 41.0 is NOT.
Here's his index thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2438026
I have a Sprint HTC one with S-OFF (just got that done). I'm having a bit of trouble finding out which ROM I can use. I'm currently using the OMJ's Stock ROM, but I'd like to switch over to a Google Edition type of ROM. Basically, I really just want stock Android KitKat. I love the feel of my Nexus 7 tablet.
If someone could enlighten me on how to discern which ROM I can use, OR suggest one that I can use on my Sprint phone, I'd be very happy!

Again, looking for expert help for a novice. I have a HTC ONE m7 Sprint rooted. I have been installing the Cyanogen mod nightly's with pretty good results. then 2 or 3 months ago, I downloaded a CM12 (lollipop?) and the phone would not run the rom, just kept locking up. I went thru quite a process of reinstalling cm-11 roms, and installing backups to get it running again. tried again, same results. then a month ago accidentally downloaded another cm-12 rom and same results. they are not longer updating cm-11.
Can anybody tell my why CM-12 roms won't run on my HTC ONE? is there something I can do to make it work? What do I need to do to protect the files, pics and contacts that are on it now? should I be upgrading to the new HTC m9? or galaxy 6? or use a different rom all together? I like CM, but if something else will run better why not?
thanks in advance for any advice?
Don't know much about CM on this phone. I personally prefer tdhite's PAC ROM. It's CM like but with more features. Also, I'm running gruesomewolf's GPE ROM right now and like it a lot. It's made for the HTC One by HTC and then ported to Sprint. You can find both in Android Development.
