I picked up my V50 last week on launch day (Verizon) and have not been able to figure out where to buy the dual screen.

You can't. The Korean V50 version has pogo pins on the back. The 2nd screen case connects to the pins. The Sprint and Verizon versions do not have pogo pins. LG currently has no plans on selling the pogo V50 version or the case outside of Korea.

That's not entirely true. EE in the UK sell it with the dual screen. I got my dual screen separately via Ebay.
dual screen comes with my ee uk version
case is snug and hard plastic which worries me clipping it in and unclipping

Thank you very much for this info. It was what I needed. I was very interested in the V50 much mostly for the dual screen. If they aren't doing that there's nothing special about this phone for me.
I get my phone through my work place, so I have to go with Verizon so not chance of getting a different version to work for me.
We need a list of dual screen supported apps!
So far,
Here it is:
*Whale Browser
*WizLock for multiresume
*Google camera & photos
*KakaoTalk?
To be confirmed:
*Asphalt 9
*Shadowgun war legend
*Filmorago
*LG file manager
*Calender
*Messaging
I have this laptop/cellphone and i am amazed, knowing that copycats must be coming. I am a heavy user, carry fast charger with long cable. Extras compared other top of line: 2 or 3 windows, multitasking, portable for a laptop/cellphone. Bads: heavy in loose pants, battery drains fast-loose 50% in 2-3hs when heavy use, notification system just ok. There are two led systems- one simple dot front and 5G light in back, one for calls, one for messages/email. Like i said, copycats coming and wait it you can. I bought mine from korea/ebay/both. Remember that there needs to be three poco connectors back phone.
The V50 has had an update to the game control pad that now allows users to create a custom gamepad, the same as the advertised feature of the upcoming LG G8x.
You can add buttons of verious colors, and joysticks, resize them and reposition them, and change their tap/slide target on the game screen on the fly, in game, without missing a beat. Very cool. It basically adds compatibility with every game in existence.
You cannot yet add a steering wheel control to a custom gamepad, however. Joysticks fulfill this function well though, in every game I've tested.
---------- Post added at 01:38 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:34 PM ----------
Additionally, Google Chrome can now open a second instance on the second screen. When you turn off the dual screen, the open tabs for the "second instance" of Google chrome are remembered, but can only be accessed again by one again opening to instances of chrome simultaneously.
Additionally, the app "island" lets you duplicate any app, and is highly recommended for Dual Screen users, because it basically makes every single app a dual screen compatible app.
Any news on the whale dual browser? announced August 2019, no follow up, no beta, no trials.
How do you adjust the controller? I can confirm I saw this before as when sliding through the control pads, there was a custom but I recently opened it and it's now gone. I can only see the default ones.
Did you receive the latest update V500N11r? Came last week and gives us a wide screen mode/ full two screens for chrome browser. Did not test other apps, but this combo phone gets the tablet format now!! Beleza!!
Did anyone try to get the second screen work as an external USB C monitor?

If the price is identical you should opt for the 910S variant, since that will exhibit zero glitches. I own the 910C variant and almost all of the apps work flawlessly except for a few graphics issues (which you easily fix by going into menu then returning, so its not a processor thing but rather a bug in their software). But straight out of the box the 910S is probably the better option for you.

Thanks for ur reply my friend
The price difference is about 30$ which isn't that big.....,but I saw benchmark tests and the exynos kicked Snapdragon's butt almost in every test (the snapdragon was superior in graphics tests though)
The important question now is where do u live my friend??!! Because I heard about regional lock and I'm afraid that neither one of them will work here in Egypt (due to the lock)

Gear VR has no such locks in place (though they probably will start adding them once the pay store arrives). Nk4 firmware and up and it should support gear.
If you're referring to cell phone operator lock, thats a different thing, depends on what you purchase and where (here its illegal to operator-lock phones). You should consult with your carrier if its compatible.

Quick browse through some sites shows that egypt is selling 910c, so that should be good to go. 910s probably warrants a chat with some tech support guys on your carrier.

Interesting. I would figure that the cleoag patch also "solves" this little issue since I did not experience any region locking at all on 910C. As I said before, exynos works - coldplay and matterport are nonworking, everything else runs smoothly.

I will get 910C variant and order the Gear VR....
To be honest I would wait with VR for something with higher resolution. I've just received Gear VR and the resolution is really bad, pixels are clearily visible. Apart from that it's a great toy.
Rumour says that Note 9 and Gear VR 5 MAX Space Edition will do miracles. You could wait if you have enough patience. Rest of us enjoying current latest and greatest.

The problem is for me it is not enjoyment, which is why I think it's best to try it first before buying (unless the price is nothing for you). It is painful for me to use because of the screen effect. No disrespect meant, just my opinion.

Screen effect may not be the problem... at least wasn't for me. Thanks to advice found here, my experience improved dramatically after 1. replacing the cushion that it came with, with one in box and 2. Paying closer attention to how gear sat in my head (should be at slight angle). Once I found sweet spot, it made world of difference.
Even with 4k display you probably would see pixels. Magnification is so great that in current technology is no way to eliminate screen door effect. Once you find that sweet spot experience is pure enjoyment.

Hello, I was looking at reviews for the galaxy s6 camera against our note4 camera, and I noticed they use the same camera sensor. after looking at pictures on ifixit the cameras look identical.
the difference is the galaxy s6 has a f1.9 lens instead of the f2.2 on the note4 which lets 30% more light in, so my question is would it be possible to purchase an s6 camera ($15) and simply install it on the note4?
Has that ever actually been done on other devices ? Seems like driver nightmare.

According to camera reviews they both use a Sony IMX240 camera sensor. I don't see why the drivers would be different.

I haven't pondered this. Not that big of a deal to concern myself with. Do you think the camera software would have to be calibrated to account for the lower aperture?

In theory it sounds possible. If you are very savvy with fixing phones, you might be able to pull it off. Otherwise, you're looking into breaking the LCD. This phone was build inside out, just like the GS5. You would need to remove the LCD, remove the metal frame, and then get to the board. So a $15 job might turn into a $250+ job.
I tried that once with my Note 2 (with the S4's camera) since the camera is important to me. The problem was they changed the cable and cable socket placement between the two models.
Replacing the camera safely wasn't an issue, at least on the Note 2 - the new camera just wouldn't fit. If you get it to work write it up - I'd do it too in a heartbeat.

Received my new Verizon Note 5 today. Before I could even get my google account setup I get a popup saying closing apps to cool down. Then a this device is shutting down warning. The phone is not even warm to the touch.Chated with Verizon since I billed to my account they wanted me to pay for a new one to be sent out then credit my card back.Told them to call my local store and have a replacement ready in the morning and I would go swap it out.40 mile trip each way. They did give me a credit on my account for the fuel and trouble.
I think I am going to like it if I can get a good one.
I sure hope it was just a faulty unit! Let us know how the new one does, please!
Could you possibly answer a few questions?
Does the Verizon version have the Samsung browser? And how's the back look with the Verizon logo?
And it sounds like a faulty unit..should be fine with a new one.

The logo is the same as on the Note 4. I usually cover it up with black tape even though it's behind a case, because it makes me mad when i see it. haha

The G4 has an entire gig less of RAM. Also, how do you "know for sure" the G4 has better ram management..? That is all on a software/kernel level.
Anyways. I can run Facebook, Chrome with multiple tabs, Fallout Shelter, Trillian, Facebook Messenger with active Chat Heads, weather apps, Z Launcher, various menu pages, the camera running in the background, the stock Launcher running in the background, etc, and I still have almost a gig of RAM free. Everything loads quickly and I can switch back and forth seamlessly without anything needing to reload.

Possibly a good idea. I can't say why my experience differs so greatly from his. I can leave everything running overnight and it still all pulls right back up for me no problem. I don't believe I adjusted any settings, and I am still running the same software/OS version it came with NIB. Either way, it is a software/kernel issue. Once we get custom kernels and ROMs that can be adjusted at the press of a toggle, and Sammy will likely send an update to "fix" the issue (put it in quotes because I am not experiencing it myself, and I do not take that one video as proof it is an actual issue).
Note 5 overheating
I had the same problem with my new Note 5 64 gig from Verizon. It came out of the box with approx 35% charge and startup material said to charge to 100% so I plugged it in but only got to 55% before displaying a red exclamation point in a triangle saying it was too hot and wouldn't take any more charge. Red light also flashing. Let it cool down for an hour even though it didnt feel hot and then went through start up procedure but it kept overheating every few minutes, shutting down apps then the entire phone. Did not even feel warm to the touch. I wasnt doing any gaming or even web surfing. I sent maybe 2 simple texts and took one picture and it shut down the text app then the whole phone repeatedly. Spent hours on the phone with Verizon tech who couldn't fix the problem and finally advised me to take it back to the store and they would ship me a new one . Arriving today. Fingers crossed it was just a bad one.
That definitely sounds like a defective phone.
Definitely a faulty unit, I played a couple rounds of VainGlory on the charger last night and it did not even get warm.

I'm opening up this thread to gauge peoples opinions of whether they will be upgrading to the next iteration of our favourite mobile device. IMHO it looks good, with the addition of IP67 and wireless charging, along with the wonderful addition of the chroma lighting of the logo. Let's hope it lives up to it's predecessors high build quality. Put your thoughts down, let's discuss
I hope the vibration motor is better this time around and the bluetooth software has improved. These two things made me sell my razer. I would not connect in my car when every other phone has had no issues.

If someone wants to buy my Razer phone for €700, I would buy the Razer Phone 2... But for now I'm still happy with this one.
Not missing the headphone jack. Bluetooth headset works great.
Not missing ip67. I never use my phone in the rain or in the shower.
Not missing brighter screen. Only use it outside sometimes (then I'm missing a brighter screen, but I can live with that).
Not missing the rgb logo. I'm using a case.
I might change if the Razer Phone 4 comes along...
I'll be upgrading if:
- Verizion is compatible
- The camera quality is improved
- The speakers are more durable; mine became distorted a couple months ago, pretty sure they are blown.

Razer phone 2 improved on all of those things. Verizon compatible, improved cameras, 50% higher brightness. Even has band 71 for T-Mobile. The speakers are water and dust resistant now (IP67). I wouldn't be surprised if you had a bunch of dust in your speakers. Happens all the time to my phones. I have to take 99% isopropyl alcohol and vacuum out the speakers. After that, my speakers work great. I work in a dusty environment and I know exactly what you're talking about.

True, that is what is so far just stated by Razer and s couple of YouTubers, as far as the camera, speakers and screen goes.
We really won't be able to really know how much of an improvement the new phone is until we start getting some actual hands on reviews once the new phone ships out.
I've only seen a couple reviews, even though they where hands on, didn't see any camera samples or anything.
Verizion capability will really sell me on this phone. I had to switch to AT-T and the coverage in my town is horrible. I use straight talk so I don't have wifi calling either.
I almost sold my phone and went back to my old Droid Turbo 2, but honestly after using this 120hz screen, it's physically painful to look at a 60hz screen now!
Not even the $1200 iPhones have a screen this great!

NO WAY!!
I have lost faith in razer as they are responsible for breaking bluetooth and not fixing it. It could have been a great device if they had given it the support it deserved instead of dropping it and moving on to the 2. Switched to the oneplus 6, just wish it had front firing speakers.
Keep these opinions coming, I for one will be upgrading but I still think we need to keep this discussion going
I have been looking at this phone too I like the design of it. I had a razer phone way back when. I have a bootloader unlocked rooted LG v30 US998 now. I know this is the wrong place to say this but lets hope we get some dev to work on unlocking the bootloader and root so we can have some good roms.
Looking to get it as well and finally retire my champ of a Nexus 6!

Well they swapped out the old SIM for new SIM. When they put the new Sim in the phone I was not able to make any phone calls or send out any Text due to it having to wait to register on the network so they put in the old SIM and I still was not able to send text but I was able to receive phone calls and make calls. When I got home I got in contact with razor and they were no help. Upon doing some research online through Twitter I found this post.
https://mobile.twitter.com/Razer/status/1054749294509649922
I found a Verizon fix on reddit. Just call, ask for Tier 2 support, say you want a CDMA-less profile. Give them your IMEI, ICCID for sim, and your number. Worked for me.
As far as the camera goes, there threads on here about it - it blows, but there's a gcam port already, and it's 'day and night', makes it totally usable. Not gonna be like pixels, but not a dealbreaker either
I just received my Razer Phone 2 and am enjoying it, but I can find no documentation whatsoever. Does anyone have a link to a manual? Still no firmware files either.
I am trying to use Chroma to show Outlook notifications, but there is so little information available, I am having problems. Any ideas?
No front led notification light. The only way to receive notifications is via the Chroma logo on the back.

I am trying to use Chroma to show Outlook notifications, but there is so little information available, I am having problems. Any ideas?

Press the "Arrows" button on the corner of the logo box in the Chroma app. An option will appear to show notifications on the logo. There's no customisation it just picks the colour from the app icon and blinks. You need at least the lowest light setting to be on.
So those of you who bought it, what are your impressions? Is there anything you don't like about the phone?
Hi, I have the 128GB Tencent version since almost a month.
So far can't be happier with it; great screen, audio, performance, design, software and battery life. They really improved on the OG ROG phone in every aspect.
Google services and all my apps work flawlessly, and although I'm not an avid photographer, the cameras seem decent.
Extra bonus points for a headphone jack and the LED lights (both the small front one and the rear flashy one).
128 GB seems more than enough for my needs and thus far the Chinese ROM hasn't been bothering me at all, after some small tweaks.
In summary, the best phone I've had until now (and I pretty much owned every worthwhile Android flagship every year)
Only issue I have is that the accessories aren't available yet. Other than that, best phone I've ever owned in terms of everything. 128gb version here as well and I just have a portable micros reader I plug into the bottom port for serious emulating.

How about portability(weight, size), jeans pockets fit while sitting, and one handed mode?

It is quite heavy, and not too svelte, but I come from a Huawei Mate 20X which is a lot larger and more cumbersome.
The ergonomics and size are fine, but the weight is noticeable in pockets.

I bought it from the Liaow online shop. Not the cheapest source, but quick and reliable. And they're usually one of the first having stock of just launched Asian smartphones.
How is the brightness in sunlight?
I own the 512gb 12gb CN Version. Quality of the phone feels nice. I like the weight and how it feels in two hands and in one hand via gaming. My only complaint is the brightness. Wish it was a bit brighter.
Just waiting on the twinview dock II then I'm set.

Because of this question I went out to my driveway and decided to test it out myself. This is probably one of the better screens I've seen in direct sunlight. The one thing that's probably making a difference is the fact that I have the dark theme on the phone and it makes it a whole hell of a lot easier to be able to view the screen while I'm typing or doing whatever in my driveway. Full sun, 82 degrees, and I can read this screen perfectly fine without an issue... Sans the fact that I need bifocals in my old ass is not able to read this small ass text as much as he used to be. In short, this is probably one of the best screens I've seen dealing with the ability to display text in direct sunlight.

My first impressions are that I really like the weight, the touch response, speed of everything, and holy crap! The audio is amazing coming from the phone without headphones. I genuinely hope that the modding community does get around this phone. if not, I'll have to get rid of it and get the actual international version so I can get some additional or better band coverage, but for I live in Ohio so far bands 2 and 4 have not been an issue and I think that I saw 1900 show up, but that was just for a moment before one of the other bands picked up. This battery is amazing. there's some tweaks you can make to it within the system settings to allow it to last longer and it provides you some estimated times until it is about to die oh, so that's really nice. I don't want to reach you my cabbage since I already posted some comments in the USA Buyer thread, but feel free to ask me any questions about it if you don't own the phone if you want to know some information about it or off of it.

Best phone review ever!
How is camera quality? How is the 2x zoom without a dedicated telephoto camera?
Any impressions on usage on North American bands? T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, ATT? My contract on Verizon ends tomorrow lol.

Not sure what will show in the images. I went outside, found a flowering plants. 16:9, HDR Enhanced.
...185624=1x
...185715=2x
...155814=5x
...185844=8x
Sorry for the blur. Did my best to set still.
They're set at default resolution... 4k x 2250 I think. Like 4MB each. HDR Enhanced required a little more time for exposure. If you think additional pics or a vid or two would help, lemme know. I'll see what I can do

I left VZW with the intent of getting and using this phone on TMO. If u do this, get to Costco and save youself the $25 SIM crap. They don't charge anything when you switch.
If there's a real world test you want, lemme know and I'll see what I can do.
I'd call you if you want so that you can hear the phone quality yourself. PM me if that's the case.

My mate 20x has way way better camera
Even oppo realme x has way better camera than rog 2
Rest is amazing
I recently bought rog phone 2 from flipkart in India. My device is working fine. But i noticed there is one problem with the phone and it had happened many times that it automatically reset its network.
Like it automatically turns off wifi ,both sim signal for 10 sec and turn it back on again. This happens once or twice in a day at any period of time.
Sometimes network goes blank and i need to restart the device.
Please help me out if anyone finds the solution. Or people having the same problem.

Keep in mind that this camera is capable.
And just port GCam onto the phone like I did, the Night scape images with GCam are almost equal to iPhone 11's Night mode.
It's NOT CRAP.

How does the wired headphone volume and sound quality compares with mate 20x?
Love it! I got mine for $300 shipped brand new, since I had $200 in ebay gift cards! So much bang for the buck!!
Awesome phone
Fast, responsive, the fastest 4G i've every experienced, and that screen! The FPS is also fast too.
I sold my Note 10+ as the ROG2 just kills it in almost every way. Probably the only thing that was better on the Note10+ was the triple camera setup. But TBH, for what I do with photography, its perfectly fine - and there's always Snapseed for minor corrections.
