Hello. I received my handset on Saturday morning from P4U and have been very impressed so far, especially compared to my experience with the One X last year where I had to swap 3 handsets before finding one without a major problem.
I have noticed however a possible glitch with the camera. When using the camera outside in bright sunlight I sometimes get glitches on the screen in the form of a jumping/rippling effect which is sometimes accompanied by a faint crackling/clicking notice. On one occasion it would not focus at all, with the screen rippling the whole time and refusing to focus. Following turning off and on again I have not had the problem to the same same degree, although it does happen occasionally with maybe just one of two ripples before the image on the screen settles down. The issue does not seem to arise in other scenarios (indoors, etc). Had I not had the situation where the camera could not focus at all I would just have put it down to the particular way that the camera focuses
Also I noticed that when the issue was most pronounced, I was standing outside our house in a bad/poor mobile reception area, just on fringe of out Wifi connection within the house. The phone was also set to auto update and was trying to do so. Could this therefore be some sort if interference issue interfering with the camera sensor or imaging chip?
Hs anyone else experienced anything similar? I am very pleased with the handset so if this is standard I would not exchange it. However if this is an indication that I have a dodgy camera module or imaging chip I would want to do something about it now.
Many thanks.
Just tried to use the camera to take photos at the theatre in combination of dark foreground and bright background. Camera struggled to focus on a number of occasions, with repeated clicking and pulsing/ripples on the screen as before. Never seen anything like it with a digital camera. Might be something to do with ultrapixel technology but it can't be right can it? Any ideas? Looks like an exchange may be necessary...
Reminds me of another thread...you should check out this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2196059
Might be the same problem.
Thanks - I had seen that one too. Not the same effect, but I have seen that issue as well.
I called P4U today and got given a swap code to exchange the handset in-store, which I did earlier today. Not had a chance to test the new one, but hopefully it won't have the same issue as I have not seen anyone else complain about it before.

Do you have a video clip to show the ripple effect you have mention?
Hi guys,
I've read about the touchscreen issue some of you have but never had any problem with my device.
However, I came across this nice little game yesterday and got into it more seriously today and I can tell you that my device have the issue too.
I run into the issue after something near 5 minutes of gameplay when I'm trying to connect those magnificent dots... :silly:
Maybe this game can be a good way to reproduce the issue?
Anyone can confirm?

EDIT: Heat related maybe?
Hey guys! Been a while since I've posted on XDA. Anyway, down to business.
I just ordered a new PI2 and after thinking for several days on what sort of project I would like to make, I've come to a decision. I would love to make a "video jukebox" of sorts that randomly shuffles through episodes of the Simpsons.
I have debated whether it would be easier to use an old LCD screen I have with a connection on a breadboard, or just buy a cheap HDTV with HDMI input and plug and play.
Ideally, i'd like a rechargeable power source inside the "box" that would allow me to pick it up and move it around if I please.
Also, I would like the interface to be as simple as possible. I literally want a play/pause, and next button. That's it. Can we boot the PI and have a video player open automatically and start shuffling through a giant folder? The idea here is that you turn it on, and it starts playing random episodes of the Simpsons. I'll probably put all of them on a 128 gb stick. Also will need built in speakers. I may even waterproof it.
So, my question to you? What are your ideas, and how would you get started? What kind of display? What video player? What of external power? I am going to build the case out of nice finished wood. But even that is open for debate. What are your thoughts/suggestions???
I've bought an Xperia Z3+ two months ago, recently, I've discovered a certain bright spot on its screen, it's particularly available in white and bright backgrounds, it's less noticeable in black backgrounds, and not at all noticeable in non-solid backgrounds.
I know that it's a hardware issue, but the warranty here is a joke, and I don't want to pay for a new screen for such a small issue.
But on the other hand, once I noticed it, it's all I could see in the mobile, and it removes the whole premium feel in it.
I've manually removed the back cover and there's no issue in the battery that would make it press towards the screen and cause such issue.
I was wondering if there's any manual fix for it? I know that it's a light diffusing layer problem, mostly caused by a certain pressure, but is there a way to make it normal again? A certain pressure in an opposite way, or heat, or suction from behind, etc.
Here's a picture that indicates the issue "It's more visible and annoying in real life"
I have the exact same problem at the very same position as you point. My country does not support officially the Z3+ and so the cost is really high. I searched enough on the internet and i think it is where the vibration is but i cannot confirm it. I also see it all the time because i simply know it is right there. At my case, there are other 2 spots but not seen so easy.
I only hope not to get bigger. I wish i knew what caused this so to be carefull (such as sun exposure or something else - although i am REALLY careful as a person with my mobile phones). I cannot help you and i got really dissapointed after my long search on the web so i will have to live with that. It is hardware problem as i really tried everything to find out that.
Hope someone has any solution. It is not only on our phone but to others too. I hope the post won't get lost after some days!

That's so weird, I thought it was caused by an anonymous fall that I wasn't aware of, the other point is barely noticeable but it's at the top left.
Also, my upper speakers started to produce mixed loud and faint sounds when i play something whike the volume is below 25%.
It's winter, and I usually text near heatrrs, which made me think that the speakers problem was caused by the heater and the screen problem was caused by a particular fall.
Since the warranty is useless I've manually disassembled the phone and there's nothing behind that spot of screen except battery, the vibrator is way below the navkeys, there's no screen on the other side of it, which actually seems to prove that our spots are similar by coincidence, because there's no pressure on the other side except for battery, and I highly doubt yours is faulty, because mine isn't.
My z3+ single sim also has the spot at the same place, but it isnt that noticable since i use auto brightness, really weird, i thought because maybe of accidental high press when the phone was in my pocket.Anyway, I'll switch to XZ premium in december, that sh*t is dope
On the top left corner i have too! So it is not a coincidence. Something is there that you couldn't see when you opened it. I only hope it doens't get worse..
I have it too not only there also in the right bottom corner and a line of 1 centimeters like 1 inch bow in the left upper corner one day was not in there and to the other plaff they appear
Sent from my E6533 using XDA-Developers Legacy app
Now that multiple people have it, I started to suspect that there's actually something.
I might open if again when I can't live with it anymore, but for now I'll try to enjoy it as it's new, and hopefully won't get worse.
I have a z3 and z4 that also have these white spots..no way to fix. look up tv lcd problems your not gonna be able to fix....it gonna keep me from buying anymore sonys till they switch to oled.
I have the same problem in the same position and it was happen after a warranty repair.... Sony didn't have noticed it....
Hello all
I have purchased a Mini and a regular Ghome around Christmas last year . They have been working fantastically as far as recognizing commands and such.
Hue lights, Spotify music ...etc
The only problem that I have had was not being able to open Netflix on my Android TV(Sony) although it works with a Chromecast. Nobody was able to explain why, but I could live with that
Recently (past 2 months or so) the voice recognition got so bad to the point that I would go and grab my phone and do whatever command I wanted (mostly turning on and off the lights).
Unlike initially when I could say it across the room (Hey Google turn the bedroom lights off) , now it keeps on saying "Sorry I cannot help with that" and so on. Or it would be picking up a totally random word and screw up the whole sentence. I have not changed anything in my setup, i have reset the bejesus out of all my equipment with no luck.
It became so frustrating but what is even more frustrating is that I have no clue what caused it.
Tried closer, literally yelling from right above it with no success. It would take it let's say, out of 10 attempts maybe 2 will be going through, unless I get pissed and drop it altogether. This is happening on both the Mini and the "big" Ghome.
Has anyone experienced the same issues with their devices lately? If yes have you guys been able to fix it or it's just one of the Google screwups that will be fixed whenever will be fixed?
The Google reps when chatting are useless and keep giving me useless troubleshooting steps that I have already done.
Funny thing is that if I say the same commands to my phone it takes it right away .
Thank you for your input

Hmm, I have about the same, but no fix here either. The timeline sounds about right too, about 2 months or so. Same with my Hue lights. I don't have my Hue account hooked up in my Home app since Goog Voice is supposed to work natively with Hue lights with a bridge. I was thinking of maybe adding my Hue account into my Home app and see if that helps. Haven't quite gotten to it yet.
Same here
Voice Recognition
Yes it's true as the time pass by the voice recognition is getting worse recently when i said to turn off the light of my room it did but after saying 3 - 4 times but now it turn off the entire light of my house.
Google home not performing
I have used the home during 2017 and it was very good in picking up what I say. During 2018 the hearing abilities has been very effected and hard reset and starting over did not solve it.
I moved mine to the end table at like 3ft off the ground it's Mic being on top hear much better now. No more telling or repeating myself
Sounds very familiar. Especially my wife has been getting tantrums because GH doesn't understand her. (Insert joke about not understanding wife)
