Can anyone on sprint with android 10 update confirm VOLTE functionality? Im on oreo. Before i take the plunge I want to be sure VOLTE has been enabled.
Guess that's a not. I Lol. Smh. Has any of the "security updates" added any new functionality?
Are there any Sprint users out there?
Are there any Sprint users out there?
I have the latest june update and VoLTE does not work. I even work at sprint as a technician. VoLTE is broken.
I have the U1 running in my Sprint model and VOLTE is nowhere to be found.
Hello ....SPCS User for A Long time here ... unfortunately VolTE does not work on android PIE.
I had to make a choice Go back to Android 8.0 and hack it to enable VoLte or use latest and greatest Android PIE.. I chose functionality over pretties so im back on 8.0.
There is a thread on XDA with the files to go back please note this is for the SM-N-960U1.
I have oreo running and i did the VOLTE hack. When in call however i keep losing packets. Its really hard to have a conversation on this $1000 computer. Either my voice cuts for long periods of time or their's does. The hack isnt super functional. Essentially its half a Voip phone/ computer. How the heck does sprint skip out on core functionality on a flagship device?
Can any sprint users confirm if VOLTE is in the july patch? If not im sticking with Oreo.
I'm on sprint.... but I'm using an unlocked phone..as of the latest update no..no volte setting and no way to hack around to achieve it...
Ok no VOLTE. Does the update at least have night mode patch?
How about the August patch?

Not the Note 10 + lol. The Note 9 august update on sprint. The phone has officially been out a year and so has VOLTE. It would be nice for the feature to finally be officially supported.

has anyone gotten their calls over lte. no such luck with me. anyone else? im running all stock r1-hd prime version with ads with the latest update and yes i have enhanced 4g lte mode enabled. am i missing something. im on tmobile postpaid, also I've tried my sim card with a tmobile iphone 6s and volte works great.
I tested it by calling an iphone on tmobile and same issue as you
Wait! Which update adds VoLTE? I've been gone for 10 days and will be shocked if there is actually a VoLTE update! But then again, it seems all you guys are saying it doesn't even work? Color me confused...
I tried to enable the volte, it still goes 3G when I make phone calls. I hope it would work in the future. I am using T-mobile.
this update
BLU_R0010UU_V7.4.2_GENERIC 09-11-2016 13:38, witch added band 12, volte support, and android October security patch. As far as I know only the prime with ads version of the phone received the update. i've tried messing around with ims settings in mtk engineering but no luck getting it to work. im hoping that tmobile is just dragging their feet and flips the switch soon
Thanks for the info! Yes, it needs to be enabled not only on the phone but on t-mobile's end when/if they decide that Blu has met their requirements. Let's hope that it does actually happen. Blu said VoLTE would be available via OTA update "shortly after release" and the damn phone is already discontinued! Sigh...
Well I just got this phone today from Amazon the 16 GB memory version for my 10 yr old son. I checked today & there is a new update dated 4-30/5-1 that adds the band 12 VOLTE plus security patch update I believe. I'll install update & test lol. It was a tough decision between this $59.99 phone & the Moto G4 Play for $99 with similar specs but I think the Moto would of maybe performed a little better tho? Lol. Well have a great day fellas. All the best, Ron.
I bought the 950u1(but didn't receive it yet) because of the fear of samsung closing the ability to cross flash u and u1 variants and I know metropcs(tmk) has u1 firmware.
Will the unlocked u1 variant have VOLTE and wifi calling out of the hole rather then flashing the u1(tmk) firmware?

Hey bro. I know nothing about Metro but my info may (or may not ha) help you.....is it gsm or cdma? I just bought N950U1 to use with a Straight Talk byop AT&T sim. I have been with straight talk for about 8 years and have been an android root junkie since I got my note 3....then the note 4....and now this beast note 8. I would like to think Im fairly knowledgable about the Android system but I have also been trying to sort through all the info about U vs U1 firmware and carrier flashing stuff but I cant quite figure out where to make my first move, or if I should, flash carrier firmware. I would like to try Oreo beta but I damn sure don't want to brick a phone I have zero warranty on. Hard for me to get over the idea of having to buy another $1000 dollar phone outright. From what I understand, carriers like straight talk, metro, family mobile, etc. Is that the sims are basically like a carrier unlocked phone. The service provider pays the big carrier (also uses their branding) to use the towers. They call it piggy backing. So the service is exactly as if you would be paying straight to the big carrier but without the contract and unnecessary BS. From what I have read, all the firmware is exactly the same multi CSC. So when you flash firmware and then put your sim in it actually does it's own thing through carrier. I couldn't get the January security patch update to show until I added "fota" to my apn and then rebooted and like magic it was there. I pay 60$ a month for unlimited data and have used 41 GB as of today since January 18 with not even a slight throttle. Because I have had straight talk so long I wouldn't know what to look for as far as ATT extra csc features. But if you are willing to find out and let me know I would be happy to check my phone for them. I do have download booster in settings. I only know because with my note 4 sometimes i would and sometimes i wouldn't depending on what rom i was on. Butni don't see volte. Maybe all this ramble was a little helpful. Let me know if I can help in any other way. Im probably gonna copy most of this post and start a thread or at least ask in the other threads for some more info.

It's gsm. Mvno of T-Mobile. I have an unlocked xfinity sm-g955 s8+ right now and had to carrier switch/cross flash to tmk "u1" firmware to get the two features running. Someone told me that they got those features running on T-Mobile "u" firmware and I tried it but it did not work for me. I saw the volte switch on the menu but wifi switch did not show up in the T-Mobile firmware.
I was just wondering if the multi-csc loaded some of the features on first boot up on a like "u1" branded variant.

Greyed out only Wi-Fi is working right now on metro I'm assuming all carriers
Gosh why do the carriers in the USA make it so hard to flash firmware and enable WiFi calling and VOLTE. In Europe its as easy as going on sammobile and flashing the carrier software in odin for the exynos N950F/FD variant... Some networks (like EE in the UK) are even firmware agnostic and just allow WiFi calling and volte on most firmwares including the unbranded BTU. It's as crazy as verizon and sprint sticking to CDMA :/

Both Wi-Fi calling and VoLTE is enabled by default. I'm not sure if I'm using VoLTE when I'm making calls old phones I had had a vo in front of the let signal bar when making calls on the Samsung j7 I'm not getting that on the note 8. If I look at history calls there is a Wi-Fi picture when I make a call on Wi-Fi. But not on VoLTE
Hope it's working get better audio calls now when on phone my data speed is still downloading at 30mbs when I surf the web and talk at the same time

You can test it by making a call without it enabled, it will drop to H+ or h. If you have it enabled and you make a call it will stay on LTE the whole call.

Hi,
I've recently purchased. SM-N9600 to use on EE in the UK. It works without issue other than the lack of WiFi calling. I've been reading this forum and can't find a solution to my problem. Somebody mentions rooting it however I am led to believe this will disable Google pay permantely. Is there away of getting the EE carrier firmware on this model? Or away of enabling WiFi calling with disabling Google pay?

With Vodafone I had to call them to enable it, it may be the same with ee.
I will give that a go but I did previously have it working on my iPhone 8 plus....
I don't know about the Note phones, but the Galaxy S series has WiFi calling on EE on non-EE ROMs (eg BTU).
I'm just getting a Note 9 on Vodafone. Hoping it will still have WiFi calling if I switch CSC to BTU. I'm hoping that all I lose is the texts via WiFi calling, which Vodafone don't support.
EE is EVR software see if its available for you model. If it is install it with odin
Thanks for the advise people, any idea if I can get a Evr for the sm-n9600? Or can I use an evr from a different model?
Only way I can get wifi calling to work is turning off volte. Then it connects.
This has been since a few updates back. I'm on EE aswell
Now this Note9 is definitely not what its cracked up to be wish I never got it now to be honest.
Think the oxm_xeu should give uk and Ireland WiFi calling to any network that supports it.
I get WiFi calling with EE Vodafone and three. Also with three when in call I get HD calling.
Have a look on sammobile to see if there is software for your phone.

LOL The most Beast phone available, you think, is not "what it's cracked up to be" but you bought the wrong version?
again, LOL !!!!!
Seriously though, how long have you had it, can you trade it in for the SM-N960F model, that's what you need for the UK and EE if you want to use wifi calling.
The U models all reported to me, when I researched, that you may lose wifi calling.

I just set it up works great
that's what's wrong with messages and calls since I did update
Damn only reason I'll switch back to T-Mobile software is for the RCS, tempting.
Shouldn't this just naturally work for us since we're on TMobile network. I too made the switch over to the international version
I had used RCS on the S8 and it was nice. Native video calling is the most useful.
Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using Tapatalk
as long as the person you are calling has T mobile, and a phone that supports video calling; if not, its worthless..
Technically, all you need is the radio/modem IMG from the update and a ROM that has the RCS message support and you're good to go...if someone can post the modem radio update that would be great

I think you could use the mmstool. That should get you back to stock OOS.
So rcs only works for TMobile? Android messages doesn't work with this new update trying to use rcs. There's no chat. Chat does come up in the native messaging app. I tried with my Verizon pixel 3xl using chat. It doesn't work. So I'm assuming rcs only works with the other Samsung rcs phones in TMobile?
Well guys I went back to stock from having international rom and I can confirm T-Mobile rcs is working perfectly fine. Only thing is the rom version is 9.0.4

What we need is the radio/modem.IMG from that update, then you can flash it after going back to international ROM and keep RCS on OOS and custom ROMs

I think that this is the case. I've been observing, and most certainly have VoLTE enabled and working as it should. Thanks for responding!
Advanced Calling is Verizon's 's version on VOLTE. It will only display Advanced calling only if you are ob Verizon network. In your Tmobile case, you should have a regular Volte toggle to activate.
TMobile does not show that option anymore due to customer turning it off and then complaining that they were dropping and missing calls. I spoke to tech support about this just the other day. VOLTE is always on I was told.
I got my Pixel 4 Xl today unlocked version and use ATT and I had to tell ATT that i was using a note 9 and gave them my old Note 9 Imei and told them to turn on Wifi calling and Volte and everything activated perfectly fine, it shows HD in the dialer during a call, and I can turn on airplane mode and just turn wifi back only, and calls worked perfectly fine with wifi only, wish I had gotten the 128gb version instead of the 64gb one

Ask your Carrier, most of them don't want the users to play with that switch and usually it's activated right from the start.
