Here's the tool. Freshly modded by yours truly.

You know what to do - power down, hold volume up and volume down, connect USB, run it.
This will convert you to the T-Mobile firmware. T-Mobile users with the non-TMO phone who run this tool and convert will get better WiFI Calling support + T-Mobile bloat + possibly working RCS. You will lose dual SIM support.
If you wind up wanting to restore back to international firmware, grab the international (GM1917) MSM tool from the 'Guac For All' thread. https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-7-pro/how-to/msm-tool-guac-t3934691
Enjoy!
how's RCS working for you? i have the international version too and thinking about switching to see if its better for my MMS and calling
This works great! Don't know if I will keep it TMobile or not, but working great so far.
Sent from my GM1917 using Tapatalk
RCS chat seams to be working. Although I don't know anyone else that has it to test it out.

I did notice that the fingerprint sensor is not nearly as good with the T-Mobile firmware. It worked almost every time when it was international, but with the T-Mobile firmware installed, it failed most times, so I disabled it.

On the stock T-Mobile ROM does it turn off the cellular radio and disconnect from the tower when wifi calling is connected?
I remember my old T-Mobile Samsung doing this and it would save a lot of battery life.
Doesnt that msm tool in slayers thread do the same thing or is this easier? Also quick question ...i have a tmobile op7pro unlocked bootloader , rooted and on intl fw 9.5.8 ....what i want to do is go back to tmobile 9.5.8 and root /twrp ..... not used to this whole A/B slot thing...so what are my options? Msm tool back to tmobile boot device, turn on dev options make sure usb debugging/ oem unlock is on etc at this point is this where i can just flash twrp in fastboot? Or does this not work on tmobile fw?....because if so thats cool..im sure once twrp is installed i can flash maqisk etc

From I can see, yes this is the same thing as slayer's thread. This thread is directed at T-Mobile users with the international model who want the T-Mobile software. Whereas slayer's thread is directed at those with the T-Mobile model who need to get back to stock.
As far as I know they both are the same, its just two different threads for two different reasons.
So either will work the same. It shouldn't matter if they're both the same T-Mobile firmware.
EDIT: Model number shows different on this build. See OP response.
If you just want rooted stock with Magisk and TWRP, once you're back on T-Mobile stock you can use the all in one tool to flash TWRP and install Magisk.
You shouldn't need to oem unlock the bootloader again. Once you unlock it, it always stays unlocked unless you manually relock it yourself.
All in one tool here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...ol-tool-one-driversunlocktwrpfactory-t3930862
Extract that download and open tool all in one.
It should show adb device Oneplus 7 Pro at the top. Check fastboot drivers and usb connection if it doesn't. Also make sure your screen is on with usb debugging allowed.
Then click Recovery Flasher and Device Rooter.
Select "TWRP OP7P" from the list where it shows "MANUAL" in all caps.
Then check the box to root after boot, select the latest Magisk version from the drop down menu.
Click the button to start the process. It may ask to reboot into fastboot/bootloader, choose yes. If it works as it should, it will automatically download TWRP and Magisk and load them onto your phone.
Thanks bro yeah I know I won't have problems with the bootloader I was just worried about the stock boot image.... I thought I saw somewhere that you needed a modified one

It is not the same thing. The tool in Slayer's thread will only work for converting from T-Mobile (GM1915) to international (GM1917 software, but the phone still displays the GM1915 model number in settings). The stock boot image is injected when Majisk is installed, making it modified. It should install fine with the stock boot image/kernel. :good:

Is it possible this can be modded for T-Mobile devices converted to International to go back to T-Mobile firmware? I ask for troubleshooting the sleep-of-death issue some of us have been experiencing and also in case of needing to warranty the device.

If you have the T-Mobile version you should use this download instead to return to stock:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...obile-one-plus-7-pro-msm-tool-revert-t3936528
------------------------------------------------------
I loaded this on my phone and for anyone who wants to know, Safetynet works and L1 widevine (HD Netflix) works. I'm not sure how this happened, but the bootloader relocked on its own. (maybe after a factory reset, maybe I clicked something by accident) Either way you can lock the bootloader running this if needed as long as you aren't rooted or don't have a custom recovery, and it will work okay.
Edit: Locked bootloader wants unlock token to unlock now. Do NOT lock bootloader.
RCS works as well but visual voicemail doesn't even work on the stock ROM. I know this isn't a fault of the ROM, its a Oneplus or T-Mobile issue, but if Android supports built-in visual voicemail without using the terrible T-Mobile VVM app, it should work as intended. I remember visual voicemail working fine on my Nexus 5.
T-Mobile please fix this.

Ok so basically u can flash back to tmobile but it locks the bootloader... .so now if u want to unlock and STAY on tmobile u have to get an unlock token from one plus.....or just flash international and unlock again with command easily.....thats what i was worried about happening. Crazy how the bootloader gets locked again
Quick question to any one on the TMO version. Do the TMO firmware have video calling like must of TMO phones.

Has anyone had any luck getting an Unlock Token for a GM1917? I tried the unlock site and it says I need a valid IMEI, and when I called OnePlus, the support rep said they only have the tools for the 6t.
Might try calling again today in case the late night call center was just ill equipt

Gentlemen,
I brought a brand new, unlocked ATT MotoX to a friend out of the country, only to find out that the ATT version only has 4 languages compiled into it (ridicolous).
I've done some research and it seems like flashing the VZW ROM on the phone should do the trick (right?).
I've put the phone in fastboot and selected "recovery". After seeing the little Android image with "no command", I held the volume up button for about 6 seconds, followed by a tap of the power button (while still holding the volume button). It gave me the selection screen.
I picked "apply update from sdcard" and selected the "VZW_XT1060_4.4.2-KXA20.16-1.25.2_CFC_1FF.xml.zip" file I downloaded from here.
Here's the result:

Guys, my friend's English is not good. He needs the OS to be in his native language.
I am leaving town soon and would like to get the issue resolved and return the phone to him with all the languages, and able to work with non-US SIM Cards. Can you point me in the right direction? It will help us save time, since it's running fast.
Thanks in advance!
You can't flash AT&T phones with VZW firmware directly. You need to "port" the VZW firmware to the other model.

Thanks man.
I am reading threads that explain porting, but it seems like a steep learning curve, at least for the limited time I have at my disposal before departure.
I'll continue reading and try to figure this out. I am following this guide. I will report back if I encounter any issues.
In the mean time, if someone knows of a pre-ported VZW ROM that would work in my case - or - of a better guide to follow, please let me know, it would be immensely appreciated.
Cheers!
Ok, 1st issue: I extracted the Zip archives of both ROMs (ATT stock and VZW). Inside the archives is a few ".img", ".bin" files, one ".mbn" and one ".xml" file. I assume the directories and files mentioned in the guide are in the system.img file (1.1GB), correct? Should I extract it and work on those, or is there a better way?

Fist question... Is the ATT XT1058 you have SIM Unlocked or Bootloader unlocked?
SIM unlocking allows you to use the SIM from another carrier in your phone.. i.e. use a T-Mobile sim in an ATT branded X. That process does require you to have a different carrier's sim so the phone will prompt you to enter the unlock code. SIM unlock codes are available from many places around the web. It has no impact on rooting.
Bootloader unlocking allows you to flash a custom recovery, 3rd party roms, etc. By virtue of being able to flash a custom recovery you can easily root your phone. When it comes to the ATT XT1058 there is only only one place you can get a bootloader unlock code.. the Chinese Middleman (not as reliable as it once was, there is a BIG thread discussing it already).
If you are NOT bootloader unlocked, you will not be able to flash anything but the ATT XT1058 rom on that phone, no matter what you try. You will not be able to fully root and can not disable write protection once you have 4.4.2 on the phone.
As for adding languages, I thought there was another way, but I also thought that needed root and write protection disabled too.

And you'll need an unlocked bootloader to flash the ported rom you make if you follow those instructions.. (since it says you're ready to flash via CWM... and you can't flash CWM, TWRP or other custom recovery to the phone unless the bootloader is unlocked)
Edit: this is the other thread for adding languages.. basically its suggesting flashing the VZW ROM and then your modem files for your device -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/moto-x-qa/how-to-add-languages-to-moto-x-t2437807 which again needs unlocked bootloader.

I'm not entirely sure, but I'd venture to say that it's SIM Unlocked.
Is there a quick way to tell for sure?
If it turns out being bootloader LOCKED, we're pretty much screwed then, right?

Boot the phone into Fastboot/Bootloader mode (see -> http://mark.cdmaforums.com/MotoX-BootloaderMode.htm ) The status code will be there.
If you have an ATT XT1058, they are shipped Bootloader locked, and the only way to unlock them is to use the Chinese web site or Middeman selling the codes. So unless you bought the phone USED from someone who already did this, its bootloader is locked.

Pretty much, unless you don't mind voiding your phone's warranty, and then depending on the age of the phone, see the Chinese Middlman thread to buy a BOOTLOADER unlock code..
I've not tried to add languages to my phone, so I can't help you to do it. Just that based on the quick searches I've done, the results have always needed the phone's bootloader unlocked.

You disabled the very application you need to use to unlock your device. How do you expect to ever do this when you have the application disabled. Re-enable the application access it from your app drawer and follow the on-screen instructions!
Since this is a tmobile device, its setup to be unblocked through T Mobile's method. You could try pushing a new default XML with a generic SKU instead of T Mobile's and perhaps you would get a traditional unlocked menu but as long as you have a tmobile SKU, you won't.
See here for more information:
https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-14011

Friend, I explained it quite clearly in my post above. Your default XML has set your device with the tmobile SKU. there is no way to unlock the device outside of T Mobile app with that sku. it is designed this way on purpose! You must modify your sku and I'm not going to walk you through that process. just as you said you are INELIGIBLE to unlock and that is why it won't work for you. You're trying to trick your way around and frankly well you're going to need a hack for that. Sunshine version 3.1 will support s-off as well as GSM network unlock. maybe look into that but as long as you don't modify your sku you can't unlock the old way you want.

I'm afraid that this is the direction Tmobile is going. The HTC One M9 is the second device they use the unlock app, instead of the unlock pin code like before. First it was the Samsung Avant, and now this phone. Have any one tried to see if the Tmobile Galaxy S6 is the same?
Thanks

Okay guys. I was able to unlock the phone with the unlock code (which purchased online). You don't need the phone to be S-OFF, but need to unlock bootloader (at htcdev.com), and flash the TWRP recovery, make sure you download and flash the latest beta TWRP 2.8.6.4 from Captain_Throwback.
Once that's done, need to download the Android Evolution HD 4.1 from HTC One M9 development forum, and flash it. It will ask for the unlock code with SIM card that is not Tmobile
I will try to flash back the original stock ROM to see if it still asks to unlock the phone with the unlock app, but so far it works great.

Like I said in my first post you don't need to do any of that. You need to unlock your device root your phone and change your SKU in default.xml from tmobile (11) to any other
You flashed an international based ROM so your sku is likely set to 6
It didn't work. I also tried to remove freeze the Tmobile unlock app, but the phone would not ask for unlock code. Have not tried other rom, but Android Evolution rom did ask for the unlock code.

I didn't say you did. I said i tried your method which did not work, and I ALSO tried to freeze the unlock app. Anyway, i don't care at this point because I have found a way that works for me.
Thanks
I flashed the phone back with original Tmo RUU, and unlock appears to stick. It works with AT&T 4G LTE, and no snag screen from the annoying unlock app.
Hope that helps, good luck

Dear sir, would you please tell us with more detail the process that you used to unlock your m9? I've been trying to unlock my 4 M9s for a month now, and I would truly appreciate a detailed walk through.
Thank you so much, and god bless you.
did a lil research on google by what I was told........downloaded RSD Lite. When I went to look for phone info, noticed that there was NO IMEI info! No MIN, PRL Version, MEID,ICCID, IMEI, IMEI SV Unkown......No IP Address, No Wifi MAC Address or Bluetooth info...................there is a serial number tho. I can turn it on and play with it; it will go into bootloader or fastboot mode or what ever its called. From what ive read it came with kitkat version, it has lollipop installed. Is there anything I can do?
I'm thinking all that stuff should populate once you install a SIM card and put it on the network. If you really want a rooted phone, do it now with sunshine and unlock your bootloader. Otherwise, after you update to the latest marshmallow version, you will be forever hosed and not able to root at all. If the bootloader of states it is already unlocked, it's likely that sunshine has already been used.
A phone can't simply be unrooted to bet an update. The update will see the ROM is not pure stock, and fail. RSD can put a phone right, but can wipe the data. If rooted, why not put TWRP on, flash a stock rom in TWRP, saving data, reflash stock recovery in ADB, take update, TWRP back on, back up pure new-stock, mess with ROM. Little involved? Sure. More so than re-doing all your apps and settings? HELL NO!

did a lil research on google by what I was told........downloaded RSD Lite.

Who told you it was rooted?
Who told you it "needed" to be unrooted? Your post is very confusing.
I won't have a phone that is not rooted. All my phones WILL be rooted. Rooted means you are the "admin", you are the real owner.
In bootloader mode, what does the "status code" say? O, 3 ? What number do you see?

Okay, if status code is 0, that means your bootloader is locked. As long as you haven't taken all the over the air updates, you can still unlock it (and then root it). Follow this guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-turbo/general/guide-how-to-unlock-bootloader-install-t3292684

If your bootloader is locked with status code of 0 (zero), your phone has NEVER been rooted and the bootloader has never been unlocked.
As @TheSt33v says, as long as you are not on the very latest firmware from March 2017, then you can unlock your bootloader and root your phone. Verizon released an update last month to block unlocking the bootloader on the Droid Turbo XT1254. Do NOT take any OTA updates!
TWRP is a "custom recovery" to replace stock recovery. It lets you make backups of your system (to restore your phone to earlier time in case of disaster) but also lets you "flash" zipped files like SuperSu to root.
If you are new to this, go read his guide in the link above, VERY CAREFULLY. All the information can be a little overwhelming. But do NOT take any OTA updates if you have not already. Because if you are on the very latest firmware, you are out of luck in unlocking the bootloader and rooting. Good luck.

Reading the guide we told you about, have you unlocked your bootloader yet with Sunshine exploit? That's necessary prerequisite before trying to flash TWRP recovery.
If you haven't done that yet, which firmware version are you on? Settings/About Phone/Firmware -- or something close to that. Let's make sure you are eligible to unlock your bootloader before we get into detailed discussion. If you've already unlocked the bootloader, then ignore this question.

You can install a file manager app from the play store. ES is probably the most popular free one but I prefer File Manager+.
Definitely do more research on unlocking the bootloader and flashing things, once you get root you can make mistakes which can brick your phone. But with that responsibility comes more freedom to do what you want to your device.

In the previous thread, we discussed a method to convert T-Mobile 6T's to the international variant, sort of, but it required an unlocked bootloader, which itself requires a SIM unlock which T-Mobile gives people a hard time about.
However, it is through @Dark Nightmare and @iaTa's efforts that we've come this far. Today, I share with everyone a new method to turn a T-Mobile 6T into an international variant. One that does NOT require an unlocked bootloader or a SIM unlock!
Before you proceed: Following the steps below WILL wipe your phone. Please backup all of your important files from the phone before proceeding.
Here are the steps:
1) Download 6T MsmDownloadTool v4.0.58 (OOS v9.0.11) provided by @iaTa
2) Download patched flasher tools here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1dYuVxnf_J97KPrRt6KEBOjau1BRvtnJQ (the patches simply remove checks that allow all the images to be flashed on the phone, I've personally tested the "MsmDownloadTool V4.0_factory_patched.exe" but not the "MsmDownloadTool V4.0_factory_mcl_op1_patched.exe" variant. You can do a binary diff on the EXEs against the originals in case there's any issues with trust.
3) Shut down your T-Mobile 6T completely
4) Press and hold Volume Up and Volume down keys simultaneously
5) With those two buttons held down, plug in your USB cord to your PC
6) Ensure that the USB drivers for Qcom download mode are installed and working (available in the MSMDownloadTool thread)
7) Extract the patched tools EXEs to the same directory as where you extracted the MSMDownloadTool
8) Run "MsmDownloadTool V4.0_factory_patched.exe" (or the other one, if you're feeling adventurous)
9) Click "Start" when you're ready to start patching the phone
10) After about 5 minutes it will finish its job and reboot the phone
11) Phone will boot normally, but no more T-Mobile logo, and instead there is the OxygenOS generic logo
12) Now your T-Mobile 6T is now running identical software to the unlocked 6T sold directly by OnePlus, and running the latest software (OxygenOS 9.0.11 at the time of this writing). You can even participate in Open Betas if you'd like, and the "Local Upgrade" feature is now enabled and working.
13) ???
14) Profit
Hope this helps somebody out.
It definitely works.
If you want to unlock bootloader after it's converted, then it's just a simple fastboot oem unlock WITHOUT having to wait 7 days for OnePlus unlock bin. Just like the 6T sold by OnePlus directly. And you can even load a dual-SIM tray and both SIM slots work normally.
This is great news! Did this method override the critical partitions in your test to fully convert? Did it become a full conversion or is it just another cool method to use the international Oxygen OS? You think OTA will work as normal now as well instead of doing a local upgrade and etc? Great job and excuse the numerous questions. I'm just curious and excited about this. I've been lurking in these related threads all this time and watching them progress. Lol
@AnonymousTipster change the title from "conversation" to "conversion".
Amazing guide by the way, nice job.
My tmo variant 6T is carrier unlocked and bootloader unlocked and converted to international via the old conversion method downloading the full OTA and flashing the "flash all" bin.
By using this MSM tool, after it locks up my bootloader again, can I still use my old unlock bin? Or will I have to request a new bin key from OnePlus?
I just tested this and can happily confirm that it works!!! Thank you!!!

The answer is two posts above yours. As the whole phone had been rewrote you have the international version and therefore don't need any bin key.
Besides using Magisk or another Launcher, is there a way to maintain the Google Now tab when swiping to the far right?
So, it's fully and 100% conversion? Meaning that full and incremental OTA's can get them worry free?

Ok, so we will have to test until next one comes out? Gotcha!
Just did the conversion, so far so good. Running the OPBackup/Restore to get everything setup.
I was running 9.06 for a while then switched back to the T-mobile rom.
Yesterday I tried to convert to 9.011
The phone would reboot itself right after I got to the setup screen so I MSM back to T-Mobile rom.
Does anyone know if this method would correct that bug?
Holy s h i t
Nice work! I am elated the project has come this far!..nicely done guys! I'll guinea pig it up with the other exe later.
This is great news!! Well try it out today as well.. Sidebar here.. Will the international firmware support a double SIM tray or is the hardware the sticking point?
Thanks again
Excellent job... Can't wait to get home and switch.
Good bye... T-Mobile...No more waiting for your update!!! :silly:
This is awesome, thank you for the post! So after converting, we can unlock the bootloader and flash a custom kernel the same way? I was tempt on keeping my bootloader locked to keep HD videos for Netflix and any other app. I hear it's not safe to flash a custom kernel and then re-lock bootloader? Any advice would be nice.
Nonetheless, glad to see we can convert without having to unlock the bootloader! Cheers!

Questions about using the OPBackup/Restore as this is my first OP phone. Sorry if I sound dumb LOL, Just never used OPBackup/Restore before...Thanks for any help.
Do I need to setup an account on the OP site to backup?
When doing a restore do you skip during setup/sign in as far as all apps being downloaded from google?
And does the OPBackup/Restore restore all apps and settings putting the phone right back where it was before?

Yes you can unlock the bootloader after the conversion and flash anything you'd like at that point. However I don't recommend relocking your phone if you've flashed anything custom as that could leave your phone in a soft bricked state and you'd have to wipe your phone again with msm tool.

FINALLY SUCCESS!
Downgrading my ROG Phone 3 to android 10 and using the unlock too (NOT OBIWAN) and finally success! For other peoples reference, the Firmware version I used was:UL-ASUS_I003_1-ASUS-18.0823.2104.147-1.1.95-user.zip, and the unlock tool I used was AsusUnlock_1.0.0.7_210127_fulldpi(1).Zip.
Many thanks for all the assistance and suggestions!! If this thread needs to be marked in someway to show the issue was fixed, please let me know, I'm still a little new here. Thanks!
I do have one final question ( for now)
If I upgrade to android 12 via dropping the file and running the upgrade through the phone like normal, the boot loader should STAY unlocked, correct?
Original Post:

Alrighty! I'm average linux user with a ROG Phone 3, I'm not completely sure as to whether it's the strix edition or not - at first I didn't think so but I got the model "ASUS_I003DD" so? Not really sure what to make of it. I'm not a pro with adb but any advice and pointers that can be offered I'd really appreciate - end goal is to root the phone but I feel confident I can figure that out if I can get the bootloader unlocked... which all traditional and googled answers seem to not work.
I've tried unlocking the bootloader with both Strix and normal Asus bootloader unlock apps(links at the botttom). I even downgraded to Android 11 because I noticed that Asus had a separate tool specific for android 11 but to no avail, I run
(bashshell)~$ adb reboot-bootloader
(bashshell)~$ fastboot oem device-info
and every time it has returned:
(bashshell-output):
(bootloader) Device unlocked: false
(bootloader) Device critical unlocked: false
(bootloader) Device Authorized: false
I am not sure what steps to take next. Suggestions? Advice from someone who has unlocked the rog3 before??

Is the device original Global version or converted from a Chinese version that has been unlocked and then re-locked before you bought it? That may be the explanation. My guess is your device id is not being validated by the ASUS server when using the unlock tool. These devices cannot be unlocked through the conventional OEM unlock methods (unfortunately) because ASUS have removed that as an option.
I think this is not a problem since my rog and the Chinese version that was converted I used, I used Asus' own app to unlock it, I rooted everything perfect

What steps did you take? What firmware did you use? I’ve used both versions of android (11 & 12) and both unlock apps (for 11 and for 12) and the boot-loader remains locked. What steps did you take? What information can I relay to you to help? The most that ever happens, is unless there’s a “network error” for the app, it will reboot the phone, not reset and not unlock the phone.

Does the ASUS unlock tool complete successfully followed by a reboot? If not that's a very good indication.
In that case, I believe a solution that I belive has worked for some folks has been to change the device fingerprint to it's original in order to pass the ASUS unlock server, then root the device and change it back to Global.
I haven't done it myself, i strictly only buy original Global version of ROG phones only for exactly reasons like this, but I believe there are posts to be found here that explains out what you need to change.
I don't know any other 'unconventional' ways of unlocking this device unfortunately.

The Asus unlock tool will either (A) reboot the phone, but change nothing (nothing is reset, bootloader still locked) or (B) run a error that it complains could be a network error.
When you say "change the device fingerprint" do you mean the firmware? so if it is a China model or UK model for instance, flashing it back to that models firmware, running the unlock, and then flashing it the user's preference?
If so-> Do we have a way to tell what the appropriate firmware for the devices should be?( UK,CN, etc)
If someone does have "unconventional" methods I have LG phone I'd love to unlock at some point smh. One phone at a time! I'll troll the forums some more.

my phone is from tencent CN version Rog3 and it is irrelevant even if it's strix or whatever. if nothing is working for you try to downgrade to A10 , that's the firmware i had when i unlocked my bootloader using the applicatiom from their website.
if it just reboot and nothing happen try the older version of the application.
