Hello,
I got an WLAN Problem with my Xiaomi Mi 9. Im currently using the newest Miui Global Version and tried many other ROMS, but got almost everywhere a WLAN Problem. My WLAN is like freezed. Im connected but it takes like 1 min until something load completly. The only way to fix it is turning Hotspot on for 5 sec, then disable it, restart the phone and turning Hotspot on again and disable it. Then my WLAN works perfect, until I restart again. I just doesn't understand what is causing this problem. I also tried different ROMS like Xiaomi EU and CrDroid, but I got the same problem. The only ROM that worked without WLAN problems was Pixel Experience, but its draining my battery too hard. Can anyone help me with this strange problem?

I just fixed it by flashing the updated stock kernel.

I've tried your tip, but then my internet and wifi-smart home don't work anymore. They need ipv6.
Again with new weekly xiaomi.eu rom (9.8.1, clean flash) all problems starts again ...: Frozen after start, frozen after wake up, laggy by using Witz Fritz 7590 , fw7.12
Today i try with another ipv6 option in my Fritz Box 7590. Problem of Android 9 seems to manage ipv6 over DHCP.
Scripts and Apps, who auto deactivate ipv6 in Mi9 don't work reliable.
To deactivate ipv6 in my router was not functional for my Network.
Another option there was to take native ipv6 instead of simulaton over native ipv4. This causes the error in my Phone: this network have no internet connection.
Actually i try to tunnel ipv6 over ipv4 (without endpoint). It seems ok. I will check this the next days.
I had this exact problem and yesterday I made a wifi scan to determine if there was other wifi networks nearby on the same channel. Turned out that there always were at least one or two on the same channel as me all the time. Sometimes as much as four within one hundred meters on the same channel (ch 100 on 5gHz). As there are lots of channels free, I set the router to one of those and my problem went away!
Thanks, Gerhard, for read and reply.
By me, without ipv6, only over ipv4 my wlan in mi9 works exellent with FitzBox auto-channel for both, 2 and 5 ghz.
And there are no other users on my frequency (shown by the box).
I live alone direct near by the Graveyard :cyclops:.
Have you tried another router? Perhaps log on to a friend’s router and check out the configuration. In your place I would try to use manual channel instead of auto. Sometime other things will interfere with the wifi signal. Use 5 gHz and not 2.4 gHz as this band is more affected by interference.
I think we can rule out the zombies from the graveyard for now!
Thanks for ideas, i have tryed out another router (Fritz 7490) and i am on 5ghz and i have tryed out other manual channels.
In march this year, all my Mi's (Mi5, Mi6, Mi8) work fine with Xiaomi.eu beta roms. I updated them weekly since years ...
Since may or june this year, i don't now exact, there was first failure with my new Mi9 ans the weekly Rom Update. My other phones work fine, i found.
There are a few other users in other forums, that have exact the same problem, even with other routers.
Some beleave, that issue corresponds with kernel. But there are no kernels, wich works with miui 10, android 9 and encrypted phone.
And therefore i wait for android10 with new kernel (beta tests are in progress and the final is anounced this summer)
an try to find a solution between. Zombies are friendly here, i found.

what kernel do you use? RC9 or SR2? in my exprience SR2 gave me wifi error ater 1 day hours of usage. and juice defender is also make it problems with HP kernel
right now i'm using RC9 and already 1 day 6 hours and still no error on wifi yet will let you know the progress. and i set the wilress sleep policy when screen turns off
I was using rc 9,
But now the problem is solved, first i flashed performance pack 7 and then rc 9 again and it helped.
But still dont no what was causing the problem

ow, so you have already flashed the RC9 kernel. maybe because the wifi module still use v10e on sr2, in RC9 used v20L sources
but in rc9 tun.ko can't smooth working like in sr2
Hi
I see a lot of people complaining about wifi problems
Even thought it was a faulty device, but it does not look that way
How to really fix the issue ?
Its not a cheap / low end device to just keep rebooting everytime as a workaround
For ex, i put the phone in airplane mode, just to check, then turn off airplane
and wifi dies...
Or if i disable wifi, and try to enable again, same problems
Here i use a tplink WR1043ND, has good signal, and i use with b/g/n - WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK with AES sec key.
If i change to another encryption, its gonna work better ?
I bought this device last week, and if i cant use wifi security and have problems like that, i will be forced to return to the seller
tks

nah, in here we discuss about the HP kernel not stock kernel. in stock kernel the wifi module will be okay and it support both wpa-psk or wpa2-psk

Anyway tomorrow i will return it to the seller and get another one

Hello.
I've tryed many ROMs that are here in xda: Froyobread, GingerDX, GingerXperia, kuyaDROID, xGin, etc... And now I am using Stornmix with stock kernel.
But in all this ROMs I've had always the same problem: wi-fi.
My wi-fi connection works good during 1 or 2 minutes. Then it stops working and I can't use the browser nor the market or other app that uses internet connection.
When I turn off and on again the Wi-fi, the internet connection comes back good, but the same happens after few time.
I even tryed 1 wi-fi fix that i've found here, but didn't solve my problem.
Have you guys experienced this problem too?
Any clue how to solve it?

It is already that way.
Always have been.
Delete the remembered connections.Sometimes too much of them cause problems.
There's a compatibility issue with WPA-AES encryption. It's been discussed here and somewhere else (official SE forum i think). Not much to do about it...

Scratch the "AES" and make it "EAP" ...
IF AES would be a problem I think no one of us could connect to their access points as WPA/2 actually uses AES for encryption ...

I had a similar problem with GDX back in the days of v012 onwards. The WiFi connection wouldn't completely die but only go through a disconnect/reconnect loop every 2-5 minutes (unless I used "Wifi Static" to set a static IP configuration for my access point).
I solved the "disconnect/reconnect loop while using DHCP" problem by switching to another WiFi channel (my Access Point automatically determined channel 1 to be the best choice ... I later on switched to channel 11 and the problems fixed itself) - sounds weird, but worked.
You may give it a try.
On the other hand we already had weird WiFi problems which really didn't go away unless one flashed back to stock (where the WiFi suddenly worked flawlessly again) and changed over to the custom ROM again from there.

Thank you for your help, I'll try that and see if it improves my wi-fi.
And yes, as I can remember, it worked nice with the stock rom.
Hey guyz, my wlan_rx_wake wakelock is driving me insane.
Please do a little test so i can determine what is causing this, it is really simple!!!!
stock 20a/b/c user and CM users (specially stock!):
set your wifi to never sleep on advance wifi menu
write your ip number
leave the phone alone for 5 minutes
now ping it (cmd -> ping "your ip" -t) and post result !!
Obs: i just want to know if the ping answer will come immediately or just after a while when the phone wakes up. it shouldnt answer immediately like on 10f/h firmware, but it answers immediately on CM meaning wifi is not sleeping well.
Please post result!!! this is driving me insane

i didnt have to do this when i was on ICS one day ago, so i dont think it will change putting static IP.
Could you please post your ping results since u have 20b??
maybe in jellybean something is changed that affects how your router treats your device now. Ping wouldn't change, with this issue or not. This problem is probably due to the DHCP of your router, checking if the IP is released and ready to be used on another device, which your phone will wake up and respond 'no'.
this happened to me too after changing to jellybean but giving static fixed it.

yeah, thats why i asked for someone (with 20a/b) to ping the phone and post results after leaving it standing for a while. I want to know if this fix that first appear on 10f firmware is also on 20a,
I saw my router logs and didnt find anything unusual as i imagined. Puting static IP would only be effective in my home (even not knowing if it would actualy fix that issue) and useless everywhere else.
As is said nothing has change on my network router & devices. Until one day ago i was on ics and ping request would not give me an imediately response because it was sleeping, but after flashing CM, ping request are answering imediately, just like before stock 10f firmware. Im pretty sure its something in the rom/kernel.
Plus, my dad galaxy s2 and my mom L7 works like it should; answering ping requests like the second image.

you might want to do a little research on wifi.supplicant_scan_interval parameter in build.prop on V20
i do know tweaking it can help with battery when we have wifi on, but do not have any connection.

may be CM doesnt use this.
Can you post your build.prop so io can copy stuff? or may be just copy the wifi parameters.

can you confirm those parameters on your build.pro?

i actually tested once having 200 as wifi.supplicant, but didnt seee any improvement. it shouldnt also, because that parameter means that it look for your saved wifi but when they are not in range, so you would only maybe see an affect when not conected to wifi..
It happens mostly when the screen is off (even though I have the always on setting enabled) but also when using the phone normaly. Suddenly I get a toast that I was connected to my WiFi. I've also checked the router logs an I see that the honor 5c is constantly disconnecting and reconnecting. Does anybody else have this problem? I'm on latest emui 4.1.2 without root or any other mod. I played with different channels and frequencies but that didn't help at all. Any ideas? I think it has to do with the battery optimization settings of marshmallow but even on the performance setting the WiFi connectivity just drops.
Whoever finds this will be my hero
In the wifi settings, just check that, "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep" is set to always or not. If not then set it to always.
Edit : Sry i haven't read ur post properly. Is this the problem from the starting? Coz i don't have this issue.
I think I noticed this problem since the beginning but after flashing the latest 4.1.2 it got worse. Skype and WhatsApp calls get disconnected while screen is off (after 15 seconds or so).

The problem was with the original Rom and the reason why I flashed the latest.
Exactly the same issue.

Hello,
I have exactly the same issue. I checked also dhcp mode in the developer tools.
Did you found a way to solve it ?
Changing the router solved the problem.
Yah I know, that this question has been asked before. But like is there really no one who knows the cause? It is known that it's the router's fault. Even at my home, I have two routers in one subnet (one main as a router, second as a switch with WiFi). When connected to the first one the wakelock appears, to the second - the phone sleeps like a baby. So is there no clue what setting on the router can be related to this? Or is it just random software/hardware related thing, beyond the reach of the end user?
I am experiencing the same problem after I moved into a University dormitory.
This problem happens when the device is connected to a mass authentication network with IGMP snooping on. It's an option in the router's settings.
People have mentioned that Franco's Kernel can solve the problem. He also mentioned in one of the changelogs that his kernel ignores qcom_rx_wakelock from then on. But I've tried to flash the FrancoKernel and it doesn't seem to help (about 2 weeks ago).
Since I live in a dorm, there's almost nothing I can do with the router. But I do switch on "App WLAN Multi/Broadcasting Filter" in developer options. As well as only keep Wi-Fi alive when charging. I have enough data so it's not a problem to disconnect from Wi-Fi while device is sleeping.
I recommend u to try Franco's Kernel. Maybe it will work. If you find any solution I'd like to know. Good luck and thanks.

Are you sure it is the igmp option? I tried to find it in my provider's router, but didn't find anything...

That's what I learnt while digging the Internet about this issue. Try the Franco kernel. It might help.
Flash dorimanx kernel ..
I know these kernels and their options... I wanted to know the cause.

ElementalX \ Franco \ Dorimanx \ blu_spark - all those have an option to block kernel related wakelocks.

Thank you! Finally someone who knows how to solve this issue.
One more question: how do i edit/change the settings of Franco Kernel? It doesn't seem to be an option in the settings or anywhere after flashing the kernel. Thank you.
