Hi. I use Samsung s10e before and usually I use Google assistant to set alarm or making a call in the lock screen without having to unlock first. Now I tried the same way in my p30 Pro but it required to unlock first. Is there anyway to use Google assistant in the lock screen without having to unlock the phone? Sorry for my English. Regards.
Try pressing power button for a couple of seconds.

Yes but we need to unlock the phone first
Tried many things, even Google voice match won't unlock it.
I really don't know if it is possible...
But I don't think that is a safe method allowing the google assistant unlock your phone by voice!
My assistant sometimes actives even when I'm having a conversation (without saying "hey google") or just when my phone is close to a TV!
Google Assistant has stopped unlocking phone for a month or so on all phones

If I set my phone's ringer to "Vibrate" or "Silent" and I accidentally trigger my Touchless control, will the phone make a noise? For example, if I am sitting in class or in a test, I would hate for my phone to accidentally make sounds.
Is the sound of TC tied to the phone ringer volume or the phone's media volume? If it's tied to the ringer volume, I can quickly silence it when needed by just using the volume rocker buttons right? If it's the latter, I have to go into the volume settings and change the media volume to silent?
(Google Now used to be tied to the phone's ringer volume; it is now tied to the phone media volume. Any way to change this too?)
Don't say the hotword. Fixed. If TC is going off randomly for you, you should probably retrain the recognition.
I really wish Google now had its own volume control.

Go to Toucless Controls in settings and uncheck "Launch Phrase Sound". That way it won't been when you trigger it.
Mine also triggers frequently at the mall.. gonna try re training it. Given, I did trick it to activate on "Ok Google" instead of "Ok Google Now" lol.

However, after you launch it, if the phone continues to pick up words and decides to start googling or calling someone, it will still continue to make noises.

Do you, or the people at the mall you go to, walk around saying "OK Google now"?

I think sometimes it may jut trigger from ambient noises. Still, there are situations when you absolutely do not want to risk your phone going off: interview, movie theatre, exam, etc... I know you can shutdown the phone, but that can sometimes be inconvenient.
Speaking of which, is there a reboot function anywhere? I can only find power off. It's sometimes annoying when you want to reboot your phone and walk away and come back, but now you have to wait for it to power off and then manually power it back on again.

I've not had my phone, ambient noise or otherwise, respond and start doing touch less controls unless I've said OK Google Now. I'd be interested to know why yours does. i.e. can I make mine more sensitive? (because sometimes it doesn't even respond when I say OK Google Now)
As for reboot... I'm not aware of anything on the stock X. If you are rooted, there are Xposed modules to give you the "4 option power menu" thing of the old days.. And there are apps like Quick Boot (Reboot) which will reboot your phone normally (works like power off/on reboot), to bootloader, to recovery, or to power off.

Ah I see, thanks.
Is there any reason why Google took away the 4 power menu option and took away the Reboot option from the power menu?

I don't know. I had HTC for a while there, and thought it might have been an HTC Sense thing, or an added hack that I did.
I know there was a "restart" option on the menu, but it didn't shut down and reboot the phone, it just restarted some of the services/features, not a true reboot.

Nop. Yesterday it was happening while I was on the bus in the back seat which is in front of the engine. No one was talking.
Like I said, it's because I tricked it to record my launch phrase as "Ok Google" instead of "Ok Google Now". If I do it the proper way I don't have issues.
Can't believe didn't think of this: just turn off Touchless Controls when you need the guarantee of silence -_-
Or make yourself in a meeting using Assist

on my older phones (xperia xz1) there was an option to disable the lockscreen at all if the device is unlocked by the smartlock. this way i only need to press the powerbutton to get to the homescreen.
was i could not find any settings or apps: anyone knows a way to disable the lockscreen while smartlock has the device unlocked?

I have a Note 9 (SM-N960F) model.
Stock Firmware, no root.
Using Nova Prime launcher.
I have Fingerprint unlock and Smart lock enabled.
If i pick my phone up from sleep (locked)
i either press/swipe down
where my Home button (not visible) should be and phone goes directly to Homescreen.
Otherwise, i use Fingerprint unlockfrom "sleep" directly to home screen.
No need to press power button.
I'm sure this is better options.?
Only if you reboot phone or randomly sometimes (it's a security measure) I have to manually unlock.
This is the exact problem
Of your phone is already unlocked you still need to swipe up. I don't want to see any lockscreens at all. Why is this even implemented this way.
What I want is being able to use the phone without any unnecessary swiping after pressing the power button. (Razer phone 2 and Sony had an option for this)

i think you misunderstood my point.
I was trying to describe my button press action.
You don't actually swipe nothing.
You don't see the lockscreen, at all.
Call it press etc,
where the home button is.
It unlocks to Desktop.
You don't see the lockscreen at all.
From device sleep,
i "press " Home button
and device goes straight to Desktop.
Fingerprint it's the same. It goes straight to the Desktop.,
( You don't see a lockscreen)
Good luck
Yeah i got it
But that's the problem: you still need to swipe up the lockscreens if you try to unlock by the power button. Unlocking via Iris or fingerprint or pressing the invisible home button world great and you skip the lockscreens completely. But after pressing the power button the is 1 more action that is needed.
On the screenshot you can see (in German) "unlocked by smart lock" after trying to unlock with the power button

dont use the power button.
use the finger print or home button in conjunction with smart lock policy.
you'll get better milage off of the power button this way.
Yeah... Don't use the power button...
No sorry not an option ^^
Is one of the reason I don't use it, and also because I don't know the effective range.
But leaving the home button enable requires to let the "screen touch sensor" active so it will inevitably consume more battery am I wrong?
Are you on Oreo or Pie?
On Pie, this works fine for me. I press the power button, it unlocks with intelligent unlock and goes directly to the home screen/last app. No swipe needed. Does the same when I press the hard press home button.
If you're on Oreo, do what bober10113 says.
I am on Pie, and I am constantly getting the lock screen where it says unlocked by smart lock, but I still have to swipe.

Did anyone get this working? Was going to do a factory reset to see if that would fix it, but if no one has it working then I'm sure that won't help.
Hold down power button 1 second to activate Google assistant.
I find it's a bit hit and miss but it works.
Timing has to be very precise.

Lol How precise can you be. Press power one second and Google assistant should open. Shouldnt be that hard for them to implement correctly.
The split screen gesture is a joke. Sooooo frustrating. I'm sure I'm going to get a bruise on my knuckle I've tried so many times to get it working. Probably works 5% of the time for me.
Oh as well, the gesture to go one handed mode (pull in from the corner) usualy works for me most of the time, but what is stupid is that it also activates Google assistant too! Why would the same gesture do 2 things.
hi, please can someone advise a way I can disable the power key from instantly locking my phone? So it stays unlocked for at least few minutes if this is possible. Where can I view options for this?
Using the Huawei P20 Pro, model CLT-L09.
Thanks
Overwhelming response, thanks everyone.
I don't think there is a real solution for that because you would need to change the way the Lockscreen ist working.
Why would you want that anyways? The fingerprint reader is quick enough to not be bothered by the unlock time
I don't think that is possible and I don't think it makes sense for companies to implement a feature like this.
If I understand this correctly, what you want to achieve is when you press power button, you want your phone to stay unlocked for few minutes and after that get locked? If so, just set screen sleep time on 5-10 minutes.. What's the problem.
On my LG V20 (Android 8.0) there is an option for screen lock timeout. U can set how long the phone should wait to lock the phone after the screen time out. Also have option for pressing power button should lock the phone instantly or not. (check the attached pic). But to my surprise, can't seem to find that option in P20 Pro.
Personally I'm ok with power button instantly locking the phone. But for those who are quite annoyed with it, the best option is to turn-on the smart unlock and see what is best suitable way to keep your phone remaining unlock.

My phone is already set to sleep 5 minutes after being inactive. So it should stay unlocked but the power key instantly locks it no matter how long it's been unlocked.
I used to have Samsung phones and on all of them I owned you were able to disable instantly locking your phone with the power key. I guess it's not built in via Huaweii, I ended up enabling facial recognition to save time.
Thank you and everyone for your replies much appreciated.
Hi all,
First of all, I would like to say that as a new user, I am not sure if this is the right forum to post this question at. If it is not, I would be happy to be redirected to an appropriate forum.
I have a Moto 5G plus phone. About 4 months ago, my power button has died. All attempts in fixing it have failed, so I ultimately downloaded an app called "Volume unlocker" that allowed me to lock/unlock the phone using the volume buttons. This allowed me to keep using the phone for the next 4 months without a problem.
4 months later, I encountered a new problem: when I try to unlock my phone, when I enter my (correct) password, the screen goes black for about 2 seconds, and then I am asked to enter my password again, in an infinite loop. Note that if I enter a wrong password, the phone says that the password is incorrect. This happened all of the sudden, without updating anything or installing a new app. When the phone is locked, I am able to do some stuff like using the camera, activating the torch, and using the Assistant (basically, all the stuff I can usually do without unlocking the phone). If I enter the assistant, and while I am at the assistant I am trying to unlock the phone, once I enter my (correct) password the phone says "System UI has stopped".
All the solutions I found online required either restarting the phone, doing anything that requires the power button, which as previously mentioned does not work, or having debugging mode on, which unfortunately is off and it doesn't seem like I am able to turn it on without unlocking the phone. So I am stuck locked and have no idea how to fix that.
At this point, I guess that any solution that would at least let me extract my personal data e.g. personal photos would be enough for now.
I have also talked with Motorala but they were not helpful at all.
Thank you very much!
