Xiaomi Mi A2 Google Feed Night Theme - Xiaomi Mi A2 / 6X Questions & Answers

I remember having had the night theme enabled for the Google Feed, but that was before factory resseting my phone. Ever since then, the Google Feed White Theme has come back and there seems to be no way of manually reverting to the Night Theme. I would appreciate your advice on this, is it possible to reenable the night theme on the Google feed or should I wait for the Android 10 update?

I never got it working personally

MIUI Lockscreen won't launch some apps

Okay, so here's the deal. I downloaded a lock screen that has app icons in a dock that should launch apps. Browser, Unlock, SMS, Dialer all work. (Mind you, this is an OLD lockscreen for MIUI 2.3 that hasn't been updated. I am trying to get it to work with MIUI v4.1.2 for my own use) Gmail, MIUI Music, and Camera don't work... and unfortunately I can't figure out what's wrong after reviewing sample code of working ones. Anyone willing to take a look at the manifest.xml and see what's wrong?
Let me know.
thanks,

MIUI 9.6.3.0 global stable - Themes / Design always gets reverted back to default

Hi there,
unfortunately this always happens sooner or later after I change the theme (design). Unfortunately I could not yet find a working solution, even after hours of trying and reading dozens of web articles/threads (also rebooting after design change does not work).
I already got it solved once (several months back) - but I do not remember where I've found the working solution. Now I had to delete some app data which contained also phone settings (no factory reset) and wiped DALVIK and cache since phone got stuck completely (even removing battery did not work). This set back MIUI to default theme.
Default theme really looks ugly and wastes a lot of space. I'd like to use CEEC theme also since it has a nice weather widget.
(Global Stable V9.6.3.0 ROM meanwhile seems to suffer from other problems: Weather does not update automatically anymore, several google apps cannot be updated any longer [showing error -504] and when rebooting/booting it takes ages now while it gets hot and drains battery massivly during bootup - any ideas on those topics?)!
Thank you in advance for your help!
Bye

Thanks. This thread solved the non-updating Google apps quite nicely. But unfortunately reverting theme still happens. Could not find any solution yet.
Hints and tips are welcome.

Google apps dark mode missing

Hi guys,
Got the phone on Friday and loving it.
The only thing annoying me as that I can't find the night mode in developer settings to be able to darken all the Google apps (as per this tutorial https://9to5google.com/2018/12/17/android-dark-mode-theme-pie/ ).
Is this something the P30 Pro isn't capable of, or am I missing a setting?
Also, does anyone know how to get any other dark apps? Or successfully rooted and used substratum?
Cheers.

That only works for pixels, oneplus, other stock android like phones. You can get dark google feed with the lates Nova launcher beta + google companion app.

Damn. Was really looking forward to having dark apps without having to mess about too much! Guess I'll look into rooting temporarily.

The wait might take awhile
Ah well, guess I'll just have to play the waiting game. I've used dark apps for years, so I don't like the brightness of the phone right now, but it's a minor issue, and hopefully temporary. With any luck Huawei will enable it with an update...

Google photos issue after update

Hello All,
I have recently bought a global version of MI 9 and everything was fine until one of the updates that I got.
1. I got the MIUI update with the June security patch (Android Version - 9 PKQ1.181121.001, MIUI version - MIUI GLOBAL VERSION 10.2.13 STABLE 10.2.13.0 (PFAMIXM))
2. Google photos shows as last updated on the same day (4.21.0.258856319)
Everything else is fine, but after I open Google Photos and open any photo, the photo just dims. Is hard to explain and hence attaching the video for details. Any ideas ??

Uninstall Google photo update and check if the problem stay.
My Google photo version is 4.20 updated on 18 July.
I have the exact same issue on Mi 9 Global.
Downgraded Google Photos to 4.15.0.245117517 and the dimming issue when opening a photo went away.
Found the same problem with eu rom, downgrade to be Google Photos 4.17.0.249919200 is also good.
Need to wait until newer Google Photos version before trying again.
In display setttings/contrast use normal, adaptive and boost cause the dimming effect

It's not that issue. I've got the same since the last update and haven't touched anything. Apparently Google screwed up and thank God it's not only me.
Download the latest gphotos and disable any contrast settings and dimming does not accur
Issue is caused from Google Photo's app, not from build.
Just got 4.21 version of Google photo and the issue start like yours,so i decided to change the colors mode in display setting to standard and it seems to fix it somehow but not like as before, still little dimming or contrast adjustment happening.
I have unistalled updates in app settings, then update from playstore and now is ok
Using standard display will made screen look like washed out and not rich colors.
Removing the update + reinstalling fixed it.

True
I don't use Google photos but I do recall seeing people complain about this on another forum and a different phone... So looks like it's a bug in Google photos not miui.

It's due Google Photos now support Wide Color Gamut including P3 color mode, other android app just support sRGB. Therefore Google Photos can now differentiate more colors than before which is good, but our android versions don't support it now. It works flawlessly in Pixel phones but causing Yellowish/Green tint or dimming or contrasty in others. Don't worry GPhotos may roll back this update temporarilyhttps://www.xda-developers.com/google-photos-wide-color-image-support-buggy-photo-viewer/

Why is my Google Camera app not updating the UI?

I got a brand new 4a 5g earlier this year, and enrolled in the 12 beta.
I was excited for the camera update since I hate the slider and the preset focus pill is tons better.
Since then, Ive never got it. I got the Material You changes, but the rest of the UI never changed to the pill. Ive tried every current APK, ive uninstalled, reinstalled, and even did a factory reset. I just downloaded the APK for the 8.4 version, and it did nothing.
I was told it was a Beta issue on the Google forums. Since then Ive unenrolled and Im on 12 stable. Still no change.
Is it a server side thing, or does anyone have any idea on how.to fix it or change it or force the update? Im run ing out of ideas.
