So something I noticed, I've updated my phone loads of times via firmware Finder and the update tool on my PC with no issues. So I haven't needed to update my phone for a couple of months so I had no reason to connect my phone to my pc. Yesterday I went to do the usual update procedure and plug my phone in and realised my computer doesn't recognise my phone whatsoever. My phone is unlocked and currently rooted as a side note. So I checked to see if I had fastboot and when trying to boot into it, it just reboots the phone. Does anyone have any idea what to do?

https://forum.xda-developers.com/hu...432e5r1p9b195-9-0-0-195-t3888894/post79832003 this way should work unless something has changed on your PC? E.g. drivers uninstalled?
Solved the issue. My cable must have been damaged at some point and would only let me charge the phone. Used a different cable and everything worked as usual. Thanks for the suggestion though

I have two windows 7 pcs that both recognized my replacement I897UCKB2 phone that I got a little over a week ago. I installed Kies on one of them to upgrade my wife's Cappy to UCKB1. I connected my phone and saw an error that it wasn't recognized. I have uninstalled KIES, the drivers, rebooted, cleaned out Samsung registry entries, rebooted (many times), tried different ports (including on the back), etc - no dice. I tried the other pc which hasn't had any changes and that doesn't recognize it either.
I know the cable is good because my wife's UCKB2 (was replaced as well) is seen no problem using the same cable and computer.
I have tried with my phone in debug and not - mass storage, KIES, ask on connection - etc. I did previously root the phone with SuperOneClick on this build. I was about to flash a custom ROM tonight after waiting a bit but now I can't get any computer to see it although the phone does start charging. I haven't yet tried linux and heimdall but that is about the only thing I can think of at this point.
I started wondering if Kies somehow caused a problem on the phone - maybe because it was rooted? I tried restoring CWM since I have Titanium backup working and busybox, etc. In CWM I tried "reboot into recovery" and then I see the original 3e recovery. I tried "reinstall packages" and it fails the signature verification. I have flashed ROMs many times in the past and have never been "stuck" like this... Any ideas?
I would try flashing the original stock eclair, there is an odin one click around that will do it... "I897UCJF6-final-OCD-REV0.exe". Then try kies mini.

Thanks but that is the ODIN I have always used in the past. It doesn't even see the phone when I connect it though. The phone will start charging but windows doesn't recognize that I connected it.

I had a friend who had that problem. When he plugged his phone into his computer, the phone would start charging but Windows wouldn't even play a notification sound to show the phone was plugged in. He couldn't access USB storage mode or anything. He called Samsung and was told his phone would need to be reflashed. His three button combo didn't work, so we bought a jig on eBay. We could get the phone into download mode that way...but Windows still/I] wouldn't recognize it. He called Samsung again and they replaced it under warranty, without any hassle.
Well, are you sure that you have your usb drivers installed correctly? Have you tried seeing if adb is recognizing the phone? Also, make sure that it is plugged in on all sides on the phone end of the the USB (sometimes the phone charges when it is plugged but unless you plug it in all the way, the computer won't recognize it)
try those...

Thanks for the replies. I know the USB drivers are good because I can easily mount USB storage on my wife's captivate - same exact I897UCKB2 build with the same cable. Additionally, a second pc won't see my phone even though it did before. I have tried at least 6 different ports numerous times. I am thinking I need a replacement.
My question now is that it is rooted with busybox, etc and I can't use an unroot program from a PC. Will a factory reset under settings (not CWM) erase all traces of root?

I believe the source of the problem to be a faulty install of ICS plus a later rooting, as the phone would intermittently go from Android Phone to Unable to Recognize USB Device, to just not being able to recognize the phone. I've uninstalled KIES along with the drivers and installed them back again to no avail. Can anyone help? Is it possible to flash the phone with a working Android version without using the computer - through the SD card?
I'm having a similar problem seems to be very intermittent and random.
Try plugging it into a friends laptop, mine got recognised that way.
Then either download a rom and chuck it on the card that way or we shall see.
I got it fully working, absolutely perfectly an hour or so ago. Came back to it now and tried to plug it in and no response...
I bricked my phone and im trying to use smart flash tool to recover it.
The only problem im facing is that my pc isnt recognizing my phone in update mode.
I figured i was my USB drivers so i uninstalled them and re installed them a couple of times but nothing seemed to work.
Can someone help?
Thanks
After updating my firmware on the phone it told me it was successful, I then used fastboot to reboot my phone up and nothing happened after that. It doesn't switch on and the buttons don't light up either. It's worth noting that if I connect it via USB the computer detects it but nothing happens after that. On device manager nothing came up neither did QHSUSB_DLOAD come up. Since the phone is in a state of limbo I can't go on bootloader and reflash anything.
Might be worth noting I was updating to 5.11.661.8 my phone is already rooted and S-OFF.

Its dead Jim.
Rooted LG D405n, nothing done to the software beyond that (unless you count having zooper/nova launcher configured on it). Gave the phone to a friend for a short while and she decided to update the software using the LG software update on the phone. After she selected install on the latest update which came out not long ago and was supposedly going to update the apps, it restarted and got stuck on boot screen with Boot Ceritification Error [560].
I've tried this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-l90/general/guide-flash-stock-kdz-offline-lg-l90-t2803479 but I got stuck on step 4. because I cannot make the PC recognize the device (it does not show up at all), so the LG tool can't install USB drivers. If i try to do it manually (it gives me an option to select a device from a list) it doesn't seem to do anything, just gets stuck on the Downloading USB driver window.
I can put the phone in Firmware Upgrade Mode just fine, but it doesn't seem to do anything useful. The PC still won't recognize the device, however I can hear the 'usb pluged in' sound (I'm on Win7).
Did a factory reset, didn't help.

You could try the LG Support Tool. Not sure it will work but it's worth a shot. The problem with the phone not getting detected by the PC is the fact that 1) The OS was upgraded by your friend and 2) The factory reset you performed . Both of those acts would have disabled USB debugging hence no device detected.
I unfortunately have no encouraging information to give you.

It appears that I have fixed it.
Since The tool would not download the USB drivers by itself I went to the LG website and got them manually, installed them and restarted the PC.
After that I launched the LG Mobile Support Tool, but it still didn't see the device.
However, I clicked Options and Upgrade Recovery. It asked me for my IMEI. I put the phone into Firmware Upgrade mode and the program started upgrading the phone.
After it was all done, the phone restarted, and the software update simply said that instalation failed, I have lost root but everything else seems fine. Rooted again with towelroot and I'm back in game.
