I am not the original source of this content. I found the leak described here on XDA:
https://www.xda-developers.com/download-nokia-camera-pro-camera-nokia-7/
A similar article was posted on Android Police:
https://www.androidpolice.com/2018/04/10/nokia-camera-pro-camera-mode-available-try-apk-download/
There is a slightly newer variant of the leaked APK (8.0260.50 vs 8.0200.20) as well which reorganizes some controls, but it would appear we lost the option to switch between wide angle in this latest apk. Will have to play with them some more. I have uploaded/mirrored both applicable versions to MediaFire:
8.0200.20

8.0260.50

My device is an LG V30 - VS996 (Verizon Wireless) running the latest and only Oreo 8.0 fw update. I'm assuming if I was successful in not only actually installing the apk, but all of the following also amazingly worked on a VZW device then I believe it's pretty safe to say it will most definitely do the same for all lol.
I couldn't find a function in this new app that didn't work with my device except for one. I was able to utilize the Wide Angle/Telephoto Angle lens toggle although it was backwards lol, Picture in Picture and Dual Screen camera functions are unique, perhaps useful for bloggers/vloggers?, HDR functions, all the different shooting modes to include the new (reintroduced) Pro Mode. I could not get the app to switch storage to ext sd but that was the only issue I had. Going to play around with shooting a few pics today. If anyone checks this out, enjoy!
Thanks for the share but any chance did you get any additional manual controls like shutter speed?
Sent from my LG V30 using XDA Labs
I have been able to access manual mode using the .20 version, but have not been able to access or even see pro mode yet. Apparently even the Nokia 8 can't see pro mode, just the 7. Been playing around with the APK to look for some sort of system check that could be altered. I've been wanting to learn to patch device/OEM specific apps, a la Arnova/Cstark Google cam mods. Gonna try to play with this as a first project.
In the meantime check out this OnePlus 5T Camera + Google HDR+ hybrid someone over at the XDA OP5T forums developed. Obviously could only extract and install the actual camera app but surprisingly pro mode etc works. Swipe up on "photo" to select pro mode. I like the layout and placing of the histogram/settings.

FYI: XDA Developers member @linuxct has managed to port the newest release of the Nokia Camera WITH Pro Mode. Pretty sweet, you can check it out here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-nokia-camera-8-0260-50-pro-mode-t3798127
how's the photo output? Do you find it to be better then the stock camera?
Hello,
Sum up
I'm looking for a good way to record 4K 60 FPS with an external microphone, and possibly using any camera of the phone.
Why
I'm trying to find a convenient way to record good quality videos with speaking subjects (interviews and such) on the phone.
I aim the best possible quality for comfort and durability. I am therefore trying to film 4K 60 FPS with an external Lavalier microphone plugged in the jack port of the phone. (I'm also using a gimbal and stands depending on the context).
I also want to sometimes use the main camera, and sometimes the wide angle lens.
Phone
I'm using a stock ROM Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro (8GB RAM/256GB Storage, Global version).
Issues
As simple as it seems, I'm encountering a few issues/limitations.
Default video app :
- doesn't seem to take an external microphone
- has mediocre but OK audio compression quality
- has an 8 minutes limit when filming 4K 60 FPS (don't know about other formats).
(My 8 minutes 4K 60 FPS video is 2.2GB, so it doesn't seem to be a file size limit)
- and it's also the only one that seems to support video recording with any lens/camera on the phone...
I'm willing to sacrifice on audio quality if someone can think of a way to use an external mic, and get rid of that 8 minutes time limitation with the default camera app.
Issues with other apps
I've tried a lot of alternate video apps, but none allowed me to record videos using the wide angle lens, or they were bugged or wouldn't take the external mic or woulldn't do 60 FPS in 4K...
- OpenCamera : Works great for everything, most stable so far, OK with external mic, no time limit and all, but no wide angle
- 4K Camera Pro : No 4K 60 FPS (limited to 30 FPS), crashes a lot, no option for using wide angle camera, takes external mic
- Cinema FV-5 Lite : No option for more than 30 FPS, 4K is limited to the pro version, no option for wide angle camera
- HedgeCam2 : Unable to even select 4K anymore after testing the app, couldn't find an option to select another camera, should take external mic, not tested that much.
- Google Camera (from Pixel) : Supports wide angle for photo, but not video. Stopped testing there.
- DJI Mimo : This is the app from my gimbal, no 4K 60 FPS (no framerate option), and won't take external microphone... So it's OK for making footage, but not interviews.
Question
For now, my best option is to forget about the wide angle and to just use Open Camera which is not 100% satisfying...
So my question is this:
Does anyone see a better option? Maybe even a ROM or an addon that could force microphone selection? I'm willing to go to custom builds at this point.
Thank you

Try filmic pro, it's not free but has a huge amount of options when it comes to resolutions, compression/container method, camera and fps, there's actually too much for me to mention, the ui is a little cluttered but I think it's down to having so much stuff

Just got the Filmic Pro app, really great even though it doesn't solve the camera switch issue. Thanks for sharing.
Sent a few suggestions to the devs, we'll see.
One boring thing is it gets back to the default (internal) mic after unplugging the external and does not go back to external when you plug it back. No big deal but might lead to errors. Also, it doesn't support the DJI Osmo Mobile 3 yet, but since the 1 and 2 are supported, it's likely a mater of time. That's awesome already that it supports some gimbals at all.
For the rest, it's pretty cool, I like the interface and ease of use, that's the most professional video app I've seen yet.
We'll see, I'm glad I've got this app in my library anyways.
Google Camera [version 5.1.018] for Samsung Galaxy Note 8 (greatlte)
A working mod of Google Camera or GCam for Galaxy Note 8 Exynos is now available to download which is built by IDan. With a proper manual settings, almost every feature is working on this Google Camera.
This is based on Google camera base version 5.1.018. You get HDR+, ZSL, Slow motion etc. on this GCam Exynos mod for Galaxy Note 8 Exynos model.
IDan’s GCam Exynos builds come not so frequently, but these are compatible for most of the recent Samsung models running on Exynos chipset.
Why Camera2API ?
⚬ Camera2 API was enabled on Android 5.0 to give the software applications access to the low level functionality of a camera hardware such as: Slow motion, RAW image capability etc.
⚬ To be able to use the Google Camera RAW image capture, Slow motion, manual control and other features Camera2 API works with HAL3 version.
Why Gcam Tools ?
⚬ To Prevent flipping of front camera photos, help to choose which photos you want to move, select custom source and destination folders, to batch move multiple files & help to delete the sub folder created by Google Camera.

Gcam 8.1.101.345618084 is the one I have and it works perfectly fine on Realme 8.

I don't have original source, don't remember where I downloaded from but I kept APK on my phone so here you go.
Google Camera 8.1 For Realme 8
MediaFire is a simple to use free service that lets you put all your photos, documents, music, and video in a single place so you can access them anywhere and share them everywhere.

I'm not sure. HDR and HDR+ Enhanced are both okay for me,even at lower light pictures. I'll test it in the morning again
So after some of testing i found that HDR works good until the light gets lower, then it shoots very dark photos. I could not fix that via mod settings, tried everything.
HDR Enhanced on lower lighting shoots kinda nightshots but with purple tinting all over.
Nightsight does the job just fine and selfies are way better with Gcam than the native app.
Currently using BSG latest recommended version. Get it >HERE
Playing around with the mod settings didn't bring any noticeable improvement, the only thing worth experimenting with is the different AWB settings from different google models.
If someone has this nice device again (apart the awful main camera on it) I'd suggest to give a try to these gcams, that with a little of configuration work well:
LMC GCam 8.4 and Shamim Gcam 8.4
GCam 8.4.600 is working great here. Night mode is impressive.

Just tested it, works nice.
A good thing, focus tracking works again for photos and portrait (option in settings).
Bad thing i still keep getting dark photos in normal photo mode and lower light conditions
(f.e. indoors with plenty of room lighting) so night sight is a must.
Any other option in settings that helped you getting better results?
Hello,
I have an Realme 8 with 8gb and 128gb with helio G95.
I instaled the Gcam, but each time i take a photo is crashes... what settings do i need to use for this phone?
It says only pixel´s phones on the config...
Thanks in advance...

Hello,
Just manage to stabilize Gcam on my phone...
On the options i choose Pixel 2 on both, and deativated all the social media integration crap...
Now i can take pictures (even if the live screen is very stuttery), and the app don´t crash.
The problem im having now is with video recording.
If i choose 4k 30 fps, i have a very stutter movie (and live view), even deativating the EIS, don´t seem to help at all.
By lowering the resolution to 1080p, i have a more smooth experience (not perfect), but the image quality is not the same...
What can i do?
Best Regards,
LPC
PS: I manage to see that i can put the second mode on Pixel 7XL, BUT the interface MUST ALLWAYS BE Pixel 2
Well Just tested night photography with this phone and Gcam, and...
It was a complete disaster... The photos came out very very noisy... so grainy and i don´t know why...
I did choose the night mode...
Can anyone help me?
Best Regards,
LPC

I have RealMe 8, but after trying many versions i still don´t understand how to install it on our phone...
I don´t see support for macro or ultrawide (but there is support on GCam go (don´t work but the icons are there)).
Where is the config file for RealMe 8? Do we need to install any libs?
Thanks in advance...

You can enable the aux cams support via gcam settings, but I don't advise to do that. Most of the cases the app will crash when you select one of the aux cams.

On all Gcam i tested so far, there are no aux cam on the app, only zoom 1x or 2x...
Only on Gcam Go there are the aux cams to choose from...

Is this possible to enable wide angle camera? I'm on Lineage 19.1.
Gcam realme 8
Give link gcam realme 8 please
Since there was no fix, provided by Realme, for the quality of the audio in videos recorded with the stock camera app, and unlocking the bootloader is still not available for the RMX3311 (EU) the only way to improve the audio was to modify another camera app, without loosing stock camera features, like 60fps, stabilization, etc.
So, I've decompiled and modified the GCam port from SHAMIM (SGCAM) and changed the audio source from "Camcorder" to "Voice recognition" (see https://developer.android.com/reference/android/media/MediaRecorder.AudioSource), is not perfect but much better than stock.
I've also included the configuration xml for SGCAM 8.4 with basic settings for Realme GT2 so the quality of photos and videos be similar to the stock camera.
Working (after importing my config xml) :
- Back (main) camera: FHD videos 30/ 60fps, 4k 30fps, image quality equal to stock camera
- Improved sound quality in video recordings for front and back camera
- Front camera 60fps
Not working:
- Slow motion (works partially)
- Aux cameras (wide and macro)
- HDR+ or HDR+Enhanced if activated the colors are bad, inaccurate, too artificial. Can be improved but I personally like the results without hdr+, so I don't care to make them work.
I've created two builds because the recorded audio channels are reversed, (android 13, fw c.06), you can check using stock sound recorder, if you speak to top mic the sound plays on bottom speaker, mono for current situation (with reversed channels) and stereo for when (if) they will fix the channels order.
Install instructions:
1. Download the modified SGCAM from here:
mono: https://uploadnow.io/f/G4Ctrh7
or
stereo:
https://uploadnow.io/f/lJBRS1t
2. Download the Realme GT2 config file for SGCAM 8.4: Lcfg1.xml (attached to this post)
3. Install SGCAM, open once, allow permissions, (needed to create folders for configs)
4. Copy Lcfg1.xml to [phone internal storage]/SGCAM/XML/Lcfg1.xml
5. Import Lcfg1.xml by double tapping the blank space between shutter button and switch camera button (see the attached screenshot)
6. Leave a message if it helped you

Will test, nice work. Still angry at Realme for crippling the device like this.
This is sooooooooooo much better
In case if someone wonders, there is a xml for the GT 2 Pro, which the ultrawide camera works with, and it also works on our GT 2, but the picture quality is very low and noisy.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/gcam-for-realme-gt2-pro.4429173/post-87701663

@hdavid1 For the aux cameras (wide and macro) to work you need GCAM, with package name com.ss.android.ugc.aweme But those have an issue, the photos taken with the main camera are shifted to the right (they have a black border on the left) - tested only on my GT2.

sry, tipped too fast, i have the realme gt 5g, and have the same issue as your phone but in my case i can open the bootloader and be root, but i dont know what i have to change to fix the mic issue(i saw i have to edit mixed_paths.xlm), honestly i dont care about video but about voice recording in general
post here your mixer_paths.xml and I'll have a look, I don't think it's the same as on the gt2
Have you tried out other Audio Sources and if that changes anything or is Voice Recognition the best for this device?
@smashda Yes I've tried them all, and voice recognition is the only one with acceptable results. Sources like unprocessed is too low, voice com. has too much noise canceling, etc.

*!!! have a backup so you can restore from custom recovery, just in case.
1.make sure you are editing mixer_paths.xml from /vendor/etc
2. modify the file according to the instructions from the screenshots.
3.after saving the file verify/set the permissions to be rw-r-r (like before)
4. reboot the phone, check if the modifications are still there
5. try a recording see if something changed. Do not expect to fix or improve something. This is just a test to see if we are on the right path.
6. tell me the results.
@wizard8400 bruh we have GT 2 Indian variant RMX3312 with an unlocked bootloader. We, unfortunately don't have TWRP. Can you give some suggestions?
@Ptathavi I think is possible with magisk:
first you need to flash a patched boot image (patched by magisk) to have root
and then something like: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/how-to-change-files-in-the-directory-system-with-magisk.4454489/
or try searching something like "edit system file with magisk"

What!!! I have been searching for this for so long but i couldn't find it, searches only showed Neo 2 and Pro and as there were no posts in XDA i thought development hasn't started yet so i was learning/trying to build twrp and build device tree for it. Thanks for the link
