Has anybody downloaded and installed a screen lock app on their P4? I downloaded one called Screen Off and it wrecked my face unlock. It works on my P3XL, but not on this phone. It was an easy fix by forgetting my face data, but I always like using some sort of screen lock app rather than the power button every time, and I'm wondering if the new face unlock biometrics don't jive with those types of apps. Anybody else experienced this?

Well if you are using the face unlock then why would you need something to avoid the power button? Maybe I'm not understanding...
Face unlock unlocks the phone, yes.
But to lock the phone, I like using a widget or onscreen bottom to lock my phone to save the actual power button from over use. But the app I downloaded didn't jive with face unlock. When I pressed the icon to lock my screen, it shut everything off, including the face unlock.

If you are rooted, then I suggest this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ryosoftware.screenoff
I have used it for 2-3 years. Using it now with no problems.

Thanks for the link, but I think I'll just make do with the power button. I've attempted to root one of my phones in the past, but ended up making a paperweight.
If anybody is interested, this screen off app works with face unlock. It's pricey though at $6.99, unless you use the ad supported version.
So I haven't had a Pixel device since the 2XL. I ended up returning my 3XL because I didn't find myself liking it too much + was dealing with one too many issues.
I moved to OnePlus and now I've ordered the 4XL. Should be here Monday.
I've kind of forgotten how to do OTA updates on Pixel, and I'm curious if anyone can fill me in on how it's done. A quick refresher would be appreciated!
Because with OnePlus, you just go into the settings app and choose "local upgrade", find the OTA zip and hit install.
I believe there isn't anything like that for Pixels, and since TWRP seems it may not be a reality in the near future, I'm wondering how else I'd update my device to the newest monthly patches without having to use fastboot?
I am aware of removing the -w in the script but that still does a factory reset even though it keeps /sdcard/ intact. That's been my experience with it anyway.
Sorry for the long post and I know this is more of a question for the future but I thought I'd be prepared ahead of time.
TL;DR: A quick refresher on how to perform an OTA update without TWRP and without any kind of wiping.
Thanks in advance!!

Bootloop after Update
Hey guys ...
So my Coral is now stuck in boot (G and "loading bar" below), since I tried to reflash all the Magisk Modules in one go ...
Anyone has an Idea how to get my phone back to working? :l
ADB's not authorized and (at least on my work laptop) fastboot isn't being found.
Edit:
Just managed to boot with this image:

Going forward, if you are using any Tulsadiver nods, enable those first after you update the monthly security patches. Sometimes google changes codes, which can cause bootloops when modifying the systemUI. :good:

Spot on brother! Gotta love everything that @Tulsadiver does for our devices! That's why I call him...."The Modinator" ????
Just got this P4 tonight unlocked the bootloader and was trying to copy the boot image from my computer to the phone but my computer will not allow me to. I can transfer files but I can't transfer the boot image. Anybody have any idea as to why I can't?

Hey Bionic owners,
Update #4: Looks like a Motorola update should be arriving soon... fire up those server-checking engines and keep checking over the next few weeks! http://www.droid-life.com/2011/09/30/official-droid-bionic-bug-list-fix-coming-in-november/
Update #3: Thanks to "phydo" we have a better set of instructions. Also, it seems someone's found a file on motorola-staging1.blurdev.com. Updated instructions and CWM flash below.
Update #2: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17962554&postcount=143
Update: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17507776&postcount=34
We ARE still looking for more files and more sources to help with the project. Please come forward if you can help!
There's a chance we can unlock the bootloader on this device with a simple method that led to the unlocked bootloader on the international Motorola Atrix and Sprint Motorola Photon 4G. Not sure if anyone's started the effort here. So, if you'd like to help the unlock process, follow the "Project Cheesecake" instructions below, or contribute in another way.
Ways to uncover unlockable bootloader:
Motorola, Verizon XML file sets for Motorola Droid Bionic
Project Cheesecake - finding update versions on Motorola servers
1. XML File sets
If you or someone you know can provide xml fastboot files that are tailored by Motorola for the Droid Bionic, you can help! Post them on XDA or another source to help the effort. If you wish to remain anonymous or keep the files unreleased, shoot me an email ([email protected]). Your file can be checked for an unlocked bootloader without compromising anonymity or file release.
FYI: XML sets may look like this: "fastboot-p2D_targa_cdma_targa-user-X.X.X-X.X.X_XX_DBN-55-110814-release-keys-Verizon-US.tar.gz"
2. Cheesecake
This project involves scanning Motorola's update servers for potentially helpful build files. You'll need to carefully follow the directions below to obtain files and then send those files to be checked out further. You can send me a PM or email ([email protected]).Alternatively, post the files on XDA or another source and I will check them.
Instructions:
List of servers:
Code:
master-lab.blurdev.com
master-demo.blurdev.com
master-dev.blurdev.com
master-qa1.blurdev.com
master-qa2.blurdev.com
master-qa3.blurdev.com
master-qa4.blurdev.com
master-staging1.blurdev.com
master-sdc1.svcmot.com
master-blur.svcmot.com
master-homer.blurdev.com
master-bart.blurdev.com
master-lisa.blurdev.com
master-maggie.blurdev.com
master-marge.blurdev.com
master-bqa1.blurdev.com
master-bqa2.blurdev.com
testcloud01-sdc1.blurdev.com
Root the device
Install the Bionic Clockwork Mod Boostrap Recovery
If you want, boot into recovery mode and create a backup. You will need to wipe all of your applications/cache later in the process.
Boot into recovery mode and choose "Wipe Data" then "Wipe Cache" to wipe your Bionic device.
Return your device to stock: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1262540 -- Flash the FXZ file in RSD Lite.
Root your Droid Bionic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1254516
Install the attached "bionic-servers.zip" file in recovery
Reboot your device.
Enter the Phone/Dialer application and type this number:
Code:
*#*#4636#*#*
You can now see the diagnostic menu. Click the bottom option for "Motorola Services" and you should be able to see that the master cloud has changed to: "master-lab.blurdev.com"
Now go to Menu >> Settings >> About phone >> System updates
Check for an update!
If it doesn't work, continue with Step 13. If it works, continue with Step 20.
Edit the file "defaults.xml" located in /system/etc/motorola/com.motorola.blur.services.blur/defaults.xml
Change the server to a new one from the list at the beginning of the thread.
Boot back into recovery mode
Wipe Data and Wipe Cache
Reboot
Check for an update Menu >> Settings >> About phone >> System update
If it says "Update Available," let the update download. Do not install the update, because it could potentially brick your device. If no update is available, revert to step #13.
Pull the update.zip file from /cache [Root Explorer or ADB] and upload/post the file for developer interest.
Root explorer: Navigate to the root folder. Then click on "cache" and look for a .zip file. Long press it and "copy" the file to your SD card. Mount your device as a USB host and transfer the file to your computer.

Is it a retail or developmental SBF? Both ether way would be nice.
Retail. I cannot guarantee it will have an unlocked bootloader. I should also clarify I do not have it in my possession yet. Retail SBF's are pushed by Moto generally within the first week of release. I will keep you all posted.

Look for an xml.zip file of fastboot images because that is how the D3 firmware has appeared, not in SBF format for use with RSD Lite.
I believe this is how we may see many future firmware files, perhaps even exclusively.

The thing to remember about the photon thou is the method used to unlock the bootloader broke 4g. Hopefully that issue has been addressed and corrected but i honestly dont follow the photon
Good luck with this.
I can honestly say this will make or break my decision about me (as well as many others) purchasing the bionic.
+1. Wonder if Motorola shareholders understand locked bootloader=no sale?

well..........they do loose alot of business just because they are locked down.......thats the only reason i'm waiting for the prime. Don't get me wrong, there hardware is top notch and the call quality is top notch, but that's not justifiable for being so locked down.

They really don't. If they did, they would have made the switch by now. Rooting/development community users don't make up more than 5-10% of the users of the phones.

But considering it's been quite awhile since Moto Mobility has turned a profit, even if the bootloader complainers don't represent a lot of people, it can still bring them even closer to getting into the black.
Is Moto that profitable that it can afford to leave money on the table?

Thank you. It's nice to see this phone finally get some attention. I'm having some issues with the Wifi and data connections on my sasktel version of this phone. The only way i can get internet is through passthrough using my computer.
Thanks for this rom, I was hoping something like this would be out there and stumbled upon it by accident
I have it installed and everything but like the above poster, I cannot connect to wifi - when I try to turn it on it just says error.
It was weird since it synced my google account and then after that would only let me connect through pass through. 4g is not working for me at all. Wifi just says error when trying to enable.
I can call/text just fine. Mobile data would be pretty key though.
You don't have 4G because the rom is based on the European RUU.
Btw, how is the performance, any noticable difference?
For all of those having trouble with the WiFi error here is the fix

Narathan is right, it's because it is the European RUU, and the EU version does not have 4G. If you can find the US RUU I'll happily make you the ROM, but unfortunately I cannot find it.

So I've been running this ROM for a few days now and I can see a noticable difference in performance!
On stock rom my phone used to be very sluggish - playing music and having a notification come up would result in stuttering and lagging during playback. Also opening, say, Whatsapp would take a good few seconds. Now everything feels very snappy with only a very minor lag when running Poweramp and a few other programs in the background.
I think when people manage to overclock this device to say, 800 Mhz, you would have a really decent phone. Not sure if you can get any higher.
Or by getting rid of Sense 4 would also work a lot I think (on my HTC Desire HD this make a world of a difference in performance).
Battery life is still very good, easilly reach the end of the day with around 50% left, but it still needs to be calibrated.
So, thumbs up and keep up the great work!
Ill give this rom a try. Thing I would like in future releases
battery percentage in status bar as an option vs battery icon
maybe shortcuts in notification bar for wifi, gps etc
no big deal if you cant or have other stuff more important.
Using apps for this currently.
Also some people may find this interesting but launcher 7 works pretty well and fast on this device. With small screen the big windows icons really help I find

I'm thinking of buying this phone (unlocked for 199 €) for my GF basically because it seems like it's one of the cheapest ICS smartphones out there.
I haven't flashed an Android phone in my life (last phone I flashed was a Motorola MPx200 ages ago) and for some reason the process of flashing an Android phone doesn't seem easy or intuitive; and although I use Linux from time to time, I'm no expert with it so... do you think that I should try to flash it so that the phone is snappier or is there high risks of me bricking it?
Just killing some of my curiosity before I get my hands on it.
Thanks in advance!
Edit: wow, I've just realized that, after 5 years from joining this forum, this is my first actual post! LOL!

There is little risk of bricking unless you do something stupid. And you won't see a remarkable improvement by flashing this ROM , you'll have to wait for really good custom kernels or AOSP ROM's

Well, taking into consideration that the CPU is quite weak, I guess any improvement is well received. Are the official ROMs also zipaligned?
Could someone provide some screenshots of the rom please.
So Android Pay finally released and was super excited to get it running. Turns out you can't use it when your phone is rooted. Super pissed. Tried disabling root through developer options and still nothing.

How do you disable root from super su? Also once it's disabled can it be re activated?

if you're using chainfire SU, then there is a checkbox in the settings menu.

I found simplest workaround for making Android Pay verify your credit card....unroot by removing SuperSU with function to remove at bottom of the app. Then start PAY and allow it to verify whichever card you like. It should take you through a few steps and then instruct you that you need to type unlock pattern to use. Then just reinstall the SU zip from recovery (SuperSU246.zip or the current one you can get at chainfire website). I have not paid for anything just yet but assume it will work since the verification step is completed. If it fails, I will update later over the weekend.
Update: Yes you will need to be on stock ROM (it can be slightly modified with a few apps removed like EMAIL or bloat you do not use) but it cannot be a custom ROM like those in original android forum. That will fail. It uses some things within system partition that must be missing when you flash a custom rom. Maybe some hacker can help figure out what that is.

i did get android pay installed, and did add a card, while on the m rom jdx. then i deleted my nfc(i always do that). but i never did test if it worked(my mistake). anyways, android pay got updated today.
Right...but it needs nfc to communicate with the terminal and the security thing is because it's directly connected now to bank
Fail for Google
I tested...it gave error...saying cannot use MasterCard xxx. The guy at register was nice enough to wait...I removed root and rebooted. It worked. Wtf...I cannot use crucial apps that I know help save battery life. My friend just told me to check Android xposed framework workaround
SuperSU unroot procedure works on stock ROM

I can verify that this worked for me also. Added multiple cards before re-rooting and no complaints yet. Will try a McDonalds purchase later .. for research of course.
It failed at panera. I've tried doing rootcloak within xposed framework module and will see if I cab test for small purchase. Update soon. This is retarded that Google is paranoid I'll sue...my bank let's me use rooted...most of their apps are high encryption (192)....hello Google...do same thing!

It failed for me but I've tried installing xposed and root cloak....adding pay and nfc and as many other apps I think it might be using under the cover. Hiding just Android pay didn't work...forgot nfc. I'll try at McDonald's in bit. This is so dumb. Why all the fuss with Google? I just dispute transactions if my phone got stolen. I'd obviously wipe it remotely. They do not think chit through!

actually, at this point, they did. you havent gotten it to work with root, have you? and i understand why they are doing it this way, its for the majorities safety, not if the minority can use it or not. anyways, we will have a way around it..
Most of majority do not know how to root....the woman in tech support...trained in this...had no idea what it even means nor did she have clue about some basic internal information. There should be way to use with root....I do not agree that they've considered us...developers that want root. Again let me repeat...banks use 192 bit high encryption...They should do the same. My device isn't all of a sudden horribly vulnerable just from root. Sorry but you are wrong.
Even if you manage to add it, won't work if you root again

Tried to use at a McDonalds, with 2 different credit cards. Both failed saying can't be used at this time. I will unroot and try again to see if this is the issue
It fails with the attached message...and only way it works is if you go into super SU each time and disable...which I guess I could do...it's just one extra step
Well my old Google Wallet apk worked today at the grocery store I will be using that till a work around is found. At least if you want to use NFC payments you can for now.
Google doesn't ha e to consider rooters and modders for this. When Google speaks of developers, there are two types in their mind...
Legit app developers.. And those who aren't... Guess which category a rooter belongs to? Everything Google has done up to this point security wise goes against rooting.
So what reason do they have to allow you, or anyone who roots their phone, usage to a system that uses their servers?
Especially when they're constantly patching and erasing known root methods with every new version of Android..

Do you mean un-checked the "Enable Superuser" checkbox? I'm using SuperSU Free v.2.45 by Chainfire.
Thank you!
Yes the checkbox in SuperSu ...as for whom they consider developer...that's really dumb. No I don't make applications but I'm an advanced user like most that own nexus. The fact they actually check for the su binary is idiotic. If that alone makes my device "vulnerable" then I would probably not use it at all. Also, the guy that's still using wallet, it will be forced on you soon. I attempted to reverse and it wouldn't allow me.

@Funk Wizard
Sweet!
I just received mine yesterday and I'm pretty freakin' excited. I recently had a Moto G4+ and an Honor 5X I ran CM on both. I've had an eye on OPO for awhile but it's so hard to get any experience with one in the states. I'm not ready to mess with it just yet but I would like to know of any cool tweaks or shortcuts as this is my first use of their OS.
Thanks for the n00b thread!
Is there anyway to get more accent color options on opt3.
Question:
If we use a different charging block like a Fast/Quick Charge from Samsung, etc. or is the voltage too wonky? Only use the OPO Dash Charge bricks?

Because the sorcery behind the oneplus quick charge is kinda different from Samsung and other brands, recommended is to use only its charger
There are no strict warnings about this but so for safety...
The quick charge retains and protect the phone from heating due to its design that the battery lives longer, maybe one can use other charger in case of emergency
This is what I'm using for the car and seems to be quite good

I don't think so, I haven't seen any mods yet that can change colors other than those already built in, may in the future a kernel with Kcal support can bring some extra options

Yes you will and you'll be able to flash it with the cost of loosing the root unless you flash the SuperSU right away after the OTA

many thanks @xanthrax.
does the encryption cause problems once i flash recovery/rom?
its my first phone with encryption, so i thought i would decrypt it first via fastboot and then i shouldnt run into problems.
decryption will wipe my data partition, but not my internal storage. right?
or do i have to wipe the data partition alone, to lose decryption?
The decryption process requires data wipe which includes everything on the internal storage so save everything also , disable the security pin / password before before starting
Once decrypted you can flash any rom or anything you want, doesn't make any difference but keep in mind that flashing or updating the stock ROM ota will force the encryption, to prevent that you must flash a kernel which doesn't force it right after the ROM
I'm not sure which kernel is available right now, I'll, check, I'm still new to this op3t, actually, I'm waiting for delivery, still playing around with op3, but there's no difference between them

I wanted to ask that if I buy the phone in India, and may go to western countries like US, Canada. will the phone work with these countries 4G networks without issues? I understand one plus devices are carrier unlocked.
Thanks.
Can I change the double vibration settings? Is there something like an xposed module for that?
Alright, two very stupid questions.
1) I'm new to the whole rooting experience with custom ROMS and MODS and Kernels so I was wondering, do you lose all your data every time you flash a different ROM or just when you initially root? I know backups should always be made in case something goes awry, but if I flashed a new ROM, would I have to reinput my pictures and contacts and messages, etc?
2) I see that there have been no ROMS created yet for the oneplus 3t in the forums. I was wondering how easy it would be to port oneplus 3 ROMS to the 3t. Could you use one of the few custom kernels that are already there and follow this technique? : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hmEl_9vwLzw
Thanks for the answers!

If your device has been already decrypted yes, flash the super SU right after the ROM and it should stay decrypted, don't boot up before flashing supersu

@shail222
1) flashing a rom can be done in 2 different ways, dirty flash, by wiping only cache and dalvik > it won't erase your data (apps settings and their data) nor the internal storage (files, photos, downloads ect... ) or clean flash by performing factory reset or from a advanced, wipe cache and dalvik and system and data > it will erase all your user installed apps (including their settings and data) and also won't erase your internal storage (as above) unless you mark it in advanced wipe to do so (be careful here...)
Each rom requires either clean or dirty flash, check its instructions
2) no, that's a gimmick... I'm not even watching that video, that's not porting, triggering suspicious thought only listening to that guy... Wait for developers to properly develop, not port the roms
Return here if you need more help

Here I'm not 100% sure, I guess not, don't flash it, check if it stay decrypted, if not, restart the process
I'm still waiting for my device to arrive... I'll be more consistent afterwards [emoji72] I hope [emoji6]

Hello, you all may remember me from my ROMs for pixel 5, pixel 4, 8t, 7t, 6t, Shamu, and J7..
I left 8t development a few months ago to have some fun with a pixel 5, and a month ago, dusted the ol' kebab off and jumped back in. I keep most of my ROMs on the silent side of things and don't use xda but for official releases. Hopefully, This unofficial build will become official. I think you all will love it as much as I do. It comes with my own branch of neutrino kernel, as does all my ROMs, it's entirely based on neutrino, but I add klapse, hbm, vibration tuning, etc, and some other kernel options that I don't care to add device tree side. This is a beta build so it has a couple weird small bugs, and no they do not affect anything.
Bugs-
1. At first boot, soon as you see the setup wizard, it will show you a toast, phone is rebooting, it reboots then setup continues not to happen again. This affects nothing. Not sure why, but don't really care either, as it all works ferociously fine after.
2. Occasionally, up at the left most corner, where the status bar clock is, a slice of the hour part of the clock is sliced off, it doesn't exist all the time, just sometimes. It is perfect in quick settings view and typically corrects itself only to randomly get sliced. I probably have a duplicate overlay for the dimensions related to that spacing. Will fix next chance I get.
That's it for any issues.
Features-
All the current bootleggers features for "Rimbon". Perfect fingerprint, face unlock, endless theming options, larger quick setting icons for easier tapping, proton aosp blur, proton aosp optimizations, Verizon support, dual sim support, enable/disable fingerprint vibration, Dolby, raise to wake, app lock, the list goes on. More features will be coming once I add them, prob fod animations and edge notification pulse.
Things I don't care to add-
fod screen off, safety net spoofing, sm8250-DeviceSettings(we really don't need them at all)I added and they're redundant, and call recording, oh yeah gaming is for PCs and consoles I don't add it to phones. If you want these things. Bootleggers is not for you.
All my builds are fastboot update zips and include gapps. I'm a Google guy and need all their stuff and yes I don't care they can have mine too. Haha.
Flashing- no matter what you are on currently, for best performance flash oos stable first, then format data via recovery, reboot bootloader and the command is fastboot update bootleg_kebab_v7.zip *note, you must open terminal in the folder where the zip is to give this command, other wise fastboot update HereIsLocationToTheZip.zip. after it does it's thing and flashes it boots and then at first boot shows the setup wiz and reboots as declared in "bugs" section.. Root if you would like to use kernel features, this requires the same old process we have used for 3 android versions, I hope you know how, lol. If you have troubles, re read this entire post.
Thanks- to my testers, my friends, the entire kangarooster squad, and the couple android geniuses who shared their wisdom teaching me the ropes the last 4 years of source building.
