Guys
I have a very annoying issue with my MI 8 camera.
I have a couple applications which they have an in-app scanner functionality by using MI 8 camera to provide some services.
E.g. Home banking will give the possibility to scan a cheque and process it. To do so, the application launches the MI 8 camera which should frame the cheque and save the snap.
However this never happen as the camera is unable to hold the object (cheque) and take the picture of it.
The camera is launched normally by the app (camera permissions are enabled).
The issue is that the camera is not able to hold and take a snap of the object.
I thought it has something to do with this specific application however the issue still exist with other business applications I have installed which provide the same functionality i.e. camera scanning by taking images.
Any thoughts how to fix this issue?
Thanks
I'm using banking apps pretty often on my phone, do deposit and withdraw with QR code. It appears to be an issue with the application itself in your case, if drivers are OK.

Are there any apps, hacks or mods that would enable manual focusing for our Note 3?
This morning I wanted to take some video from inside my office building of the inclement weather outside, unfortunately the phone kept focusing on the raindrops on the windoe instead of the target subject matter through the window.
Touch focus did the same things. A manual focus option would've taken care of that situation.

Did you or anyone else find an app for this? A manual focus option could definitely be useful at times
I am also looking for a focus override. The viewer shows that it can focus a clear photo but then goes out of focus. I've tried about 6 camera apps (Google, Lenovo SnapIt etc), and none of them solve the problem.

"Yours could be a hardware issue" they say, however, this issue was created by an inflexible system, autofocus stops us from playing with different planes...
There's no need to be a professional photographer to be aware of the restrictions that imposes an autofocus. I'd love to shift manually the focus however I like.
What's missing is someone who would have the knowledge and the interest of doing it.
For video, you just touch a few seconds the subject you want to keep in focus (while recording) and it will remain in focus, regardless of your camera's x/y movement, until you touch another area.
(a small "AF" symbol should appear on screen, which you should touch if you want to go auto focus again)
First, thanks for any input. I have a N6 that I use on my business, which is retail arbitrage. Basically I find cheap stuff and resell it online at a profit. I have many apps devoted to scanning items to look them up online. Most of them also work with a bluetooth barcode scanner, but that is not always withe me or convenient to the situation.
I have found that the my primary app, called scoutify (requires subscription), is very hard to scan barcodes with using the camera. It uses libraries/software called redlaser as the barcode scanning component. I have used this app on many other devices, many much lower than the N6 with no issues.
I have read about the N6 having camera slowness issues, but this does not seem to be slowness. What happens as you bring in a barcode, the camera is constantly attempting to focus on the backgound items as the barcode does not fill up the frame. It will focus in and out many times. you have to constantly move the item to scan close too and away from the camera and hope it actually focuses on what you want. Redlaser, at least as it is packaged in this app does not have any options. You can touch screen to focus, but it does not help on the N6.
Does anyone know of any settings under the hood that can be adjusted to maybe change the cameras focus behavior?
I am pretty comfortable with a rooted phone and ADB so I can backup and test things, I just do not know enough about the camera to know if this is possible or where to begin.
Thanks again!
Hi everyone
See, smartphones these days often come with more than one physical cameras/sensors. These features are accessed by using OEM camera app, right? Question is: are there any custom apps that can take pictures from i.e. wideangle sensor? (Or can I take 64Megapixel photo from Discord or sth.) Lastly, is there a way to pull apk from play store without a rooted device?
Thanks in advance.
I'm running EMUI9 on the Huawei P30 Pro.
When I take a photo, then click on the photo I've just taken in the circle to the left of the "take photo" button (see attached screenshot; photo preview highlighted be the arrow), I get the message:
"Unable to view photos. Please add gallery to the work profile and try again"
What does this mean? What do work profiles have to do with viewing a photo?
Has anyone else seen this before? It's driving me insane because it makes no sense at all, and there's no info about it anywhere. (I've Googled left, right & centre and found nothing...)
TIA.
Same issue after changing default gallery to google photos, this error pops up when i try view photos from the camera app, did you ever find a solution?
I have just been looking at this from the other side: making it work.
I am a novice device admin for our company and found your post when looking to solve the same issue. I just solved it so came back to pass on the details.
From the error I surmise you have the same basic issue as I had - a Huawei phone configured either as a personal phone also used for work, or a company phone which also allows personal use.
To make these changes you will need to be a device administrator for your organisation - if you aren't someone in your IT team should know who is.
I found to make the camera work I added the app package "com.huawei.camera" as an "Android Enterprise System App". For you to get the error this must have already been done on your phone.
The camera app relies on the Gallery app to show photos, so that app also needs adding as an "Android Enterprise System App". Depending on the mobile device admin portal the app category name may be different but the app package name is the same.
It took a while but I finally figured out the app package name to add is: com.android.gallery3d
Once added in the portal, the device policies sync'd and the Gallery appeared a second time in the full app list (with the work profile icon in the corner), the camera app could then allow the photos to be browsed.
Hopefully this helps resolve your issue too.
Jostain: I'll make an educated guess your problem is similar, but the Google Photos app needs to be added tot he work profile. I don't have the app package name for that but it probably won't be hard to find.
I have not long purchased the Honor 50 and I have the exact same. Could anyone shed any light on a solution for this?
I contacted Honor and their solution was to use their default Gallery app!
Hello guys,
the "WOW"-App (formerly known as Sky Ticket) is a streaming app from the pay-tv service sky (watch live sports and films and so on).
The app has a cast-function to cast it to a chromecast capable device.
The problem is, that the app doesn't stream at all since the A12 update, the app gives me an error indicating that i try to cast the phone screen via hdmi which is not allowed., so i can't watch anything, the stream doesn't even start.
This is caused by the rear screen (i spoke to sky support). Support says, they cant give solutions because the mi 11 ultra is a "exotic device".
Toggling off the settings or disabling the rear screen system app didn't resolve the issue.
Under AOSP ccustom rom (pixel experience and crdroid the app worked because the reaar screen is disabled there).
I tried to look into the permissions using Lucky Patcher but can't figure out the corresponding permission.
Anybody know which peersmission i have to deactivate or can help to disable the rear screen?
It happened with me as well, i wasn't able to use wireless display feature on my windows laptop. Everytime i tried to connect this phone to laptop for casting. It will try but won't succeed so i turned of rear display from settings and restart and casting started working but when ever i used to go to phone settings' main page it will disconnect everytime. So i had to minimize using home button everytime i connected.
I am from India and I bought my ultra on the day of its launch.
From the day one my satellite TV app Tata Sky refused to work with "Casting is on" message.
TataSky helpdesk blames this issue to this particular model and ask me to get support from Xiaomi.
I switched off casting/screen mirroring etc etc etc but nothing works.
I searched a lot but came to know this issue is because off rear display and switching it off via default settings doesn't resolve this issue.
I was OK to live without TataSky as I started loveing my Ultra .
But now need a resolution on this urgently PLEASE as update version of my ICICI bank app refused to work as casting is not allowed as security measure.
Uninstall it and install older version to work but I know it is a temporary solution because anytime my main banking app will force me to update.
There must me something in setting text file which could edit with Setedit to switch off "back display" as we were able to increase its switch on time by fiddling with this file.
(Use setedit to edit the time of the rear screen from 3000 (30s) to what number you want )
Any solution will be very much appreciated.

Go for custom rom -> EvoX, Project404 or PixelExperience, my Sky App works because rear display is deactivated in these roms
