Did anyone manage to get aptX working yet? - Razer Phone 2 Questions & Answers

I have Magisk and EdXposed. I'm sure there is a way to enable aptX on this phone, since it's possible on pretty much every other phone including RP1, has anyone found a solution yet? Stock bluetooth audio is so bad it's unusable.

Have you ever thought that your headset does not support aptx? In one step, buy an iron triangle dsr9bt and enjoy the ultimate hifi.

Oreo and LDAC support

Hi guys,
I have a question concering LDAC on OOS 5.0 or other custom roms.
I just bought me some 1000xm2 Headphones and thought i can just update my Phone to Oreo and will be able to get some high quality bluetooth music. But it looks like LDAC isnt working. Someone mentioned libaries are missing. U can choose it on the bt audio settings but it wont work.
So is there a workaround for this problem or any custom rom that supports LDAC?
Thx in advance

Hi,
Apparently LDAC codec in OP3T Oreo ROM is working, just it displays wrong information on developer settings
Just now I try my luck to find 1000XM2 but instead of that i found 1ABT, since that one is also LDAC capable so I tried that
Guess what, the Bluetooth codec show in developer settings is show wrong
aptx and aptxHD doesn't included inside the ROM, but LDAC does loaded (see the logcat I captured at attachment, first one is aptx and aptxHD can't load due to lib missing, second one is LDAC is indeed working properly)
But still I do hope that xda would bring this issue up since this is the serious matter that Qualcomm did put OnePlus 3 and 3T on aptx codec enabled device, but then they didn't implement due to "cause prohlem"? This sounds weird for me
Ok, thx for your answer, will try it 2morrow.
Cheers,

Nokia 8 Bluetooth unusable with Airpods. Anyone else?

Just to open with this - I really like this phone and have been enjoying using it. Aside from the fairly poor WiFi range and the flaky NFC it is otherwise a really nice phone. There's just one other issue I have which is extremely frustrating:
I can't use it with my Airpods. Or at least, I can connect it but at some point the sound will crackle and cut off. If I wait it will occasionally crackle and come back on again but will cut in and out in a way that would drive anyone mad. I've tried fiddling with Bluetooth settings in developer options but it doesn't seem to make any difference. I've even tried a factory reset.
The Airpods work absolutely perfectly with every other device - no issues with the iPhone (expectedly) nor the S8, G6 or even my laptop. I can't 100% rule out a fault with the Airpods but given these facts it seems highly unlikely.
I wondered if anyone else used Airpods and had experienced issues and found a solution.
Not too interested if you've had no issues with your device, nor what you think of Airpods - I just want to see if I can get to the bottom of this, or the Nokia will have to go back.
Many thanks
Similar problem
Got a similar problem with my apt-x receiver.
Every few minutes the connection drops for a very short time.
The airpods don't support apt-x, but maybe it's the same problem.
My receiver shows a connection via apt-x, , but you can't find any apt-x support in the Nokia 8 specs.
But I had no problems with a friends portable speaker (non-apt-x).
I went back to cables

I’m wondering if the Nokia 8 just has rubbish connectivity, generally. If the Bluetooth chip is part of the WiFi chip then this would figure as it has the worst WiFi connectivity I’ve seen in recent years
Are you running Nougat or Oreo? From what I've heard, a lot of the bluetooth issues have been fixed in Oreo.

I wonder if yours is wonky, my Wi-Fi is excellent and i get get 75Mbit down 19Mbit up over 5Ghz through 2 brick walls, a floor up and at the opposite end of the house, i have not missed any payments using contactless via NFC and Bluetooth works fine via an Anker Bluetooth speaker and my JBL Bluetooth headphones.
Sorry for digging an old thread, but I still have the same problem even after a bunch of software updates.
My issue with the AirPods is that they do not work after they connect. I take them out of the case, they connect (as expected), but as soon as I start playing something the music/video pauses and the sound switches to speaker (if I press play again it plays out loud). To make them work I need to go to bluetooth settings, disconnect them and connect them again. Then they will work almost flawlessy (minor intrerruption from time to time).
I have no issue with other BT speakers. I also use the AirPods with an iPad and laptop and no issues there.
My Nokia 8 software is up to date. AirPods firmware the same (checked on the iPad).
I tried re-pairing after each software update. I tried changin BT settings (absolute volume - dev settings; contact sharing and HD Audio: AAC) but no improvements.
Any ideas what else can I try?
Search for Oreo and Bluetooth problems. It seams to be a general issue for this Android Version. I have problems connecting my Phone with the car, too.

Oreo Bluetooth developer options

I have experienced Bluetooth backward compatibility problems with my note 8 on devices having early bluetooth versions. For instance I have a monster rocking roller speaker that worked flawlessly with the s7 and with my N8 I would have audio distortion and crackling.
With the delivery of Oreo there are a bunch of Bluetooth settings to play with in developer options (attached) and I was wondering if anyone has had success tweaking these settings to solve an issue like I have been having.
I never used any of the settings and no BT issues here (Speakers, car audio, smart watches, wireless headphones/earbuts).
Maybe your speaker has a problem...

Have you tried messing with the sound-alive settings the phone uses? The drivers it uses suck! Ive noticed in some cars it was the issue, ive moved away from samsung drivers all together and use viper for a solution but being unrooted your stuck with using what you got

I didn't but I changed the codec setting from acc to sbc and messed with the sample rates and I now don't have a worthless $200 speaker. This seemed to solve my previous problems.
I've been having a similar issue my stereo in my truck is supposed to launch my Bluetooth music players and allow me to control the music player from the stereo in the truck but it does not now since the update any idea on what settings I should use for what they were before the update?
I use the aptX codec on my Bluetooth headset. What's up??

Audio quality drop on bluetooth

Hi everyone
Little bit lost on this and not sure if it's just me but hoping someone can help or point me somewhere. I have a s10+ UK edition. And a Samsung galaxy watch.
When I connect the phone to the car the audio is low quality and hisses a lot. When I put the watch into plane mode. Cutting it off from the phone. All is normal.
Have never seen this happen before. Any ideas?
Thanks
So you have bluetooth connected to the watch and car at the same time?
If so, my guess would be a setting in the watch for the volume of music. Or in the phone, go to settings / bluetooth / advanced / dual audio. Select it and play with the settings to setup what to do when two bluetooth audio devices are connected

Had the same problem with my cheap external bluetooth to FM adapter.
Turn on Developer Options and adjust the bluetooth profile while connected to your car audio.
Having Dolby Audio set to auto might also have an impact.
Thanks for the advice but no luck so far.
The settings under developers let me change when nothing is connected but they revert back to sbc soon as I leave the menu. And they are locked out when connected.
Also dual audio does nothing.
It only has the issue when the watch is connected.
As if its taking the bandwidth.
@ninjatiger26
@theanykey asked you to change the AVRCP version.
You can only change the audio codec from the default one (SBC) to something like aptX if your receiver supports it. And yes, you can not change the codec on the fly while playing.

Apologies for the delay, has been a mad few days!
Sadly changing the AVRCP didnt help on all versions.
It seems there maybe a weird one however on the codec. It reverts to SBC which from a bit of muddled googling is all my receiver supports. from non iPhone devices. However, it takes AAC if its a iphone.
Seems odd to me however they would limit it. Like i said this is from googling so maybe incorrect.
the stranger part is however i paired up a Oneplus 6 and the watch all was fine on SBC codec. its just watch and the s10+ it has an issue.
Admit very lost on this one.
I'm having the exact same issue. I've got an S10 Plus and a Galaxy Watch Active (both in the brazilian versions), and there is a noticeable crackling and loss of quality when I play music on my car stereo while the phone is connected both to the car and the watch. If I put the watch in airplane mode, the issue is gone.
Also, it only seems to happen with my car. I've tried to replicate the issue with my Sony WH-1000XM3 headphones and an Anker bluetooth speaker, but with those devices there is no noticeable loss of audio quality.
I've tried resetting bluetooth setting, messing with the codecs in developer options and pairing both devices again multiple times.
Anyone got any ideas?

See if the problem persists when you only share your Bluetooth audio to your vehicle and not calls, contacts, or messages.

Why not Google it?maybe you will get a solution for this problem.
Same issue here on my s10+. When playing any audio in my car via BT i hear the distortion/hissing noise especially when the song has a higher treble frequency.
I have just about tried all fixes i could find on Google, and no luck.
When connecting to my ear buds (Jabra Elite 65t) it disappears and checked in developer mode that it supports to AAC for BT Codecs.
But when connecting to the car it reverts to SBC.
The issue clearly lies on Samsungs side, as my brother has a Huawei p30 Pro, also has bluetooth 5 and plays amazingly well in all aspects (Bass-Mids-Treble).
I know I'm posting this almost a year later, but i am desperately looking for a fix.
SN. I have recently updated my phone to Android 10, despite all the complaints to Samsung from many users... Sadly this issue has not beeing fixed on my side.
Does any of you still have the same issue?
I have the same issue with S9(android 10 ui2)
- no dou audio diable option
- bluetooth conected only to my earphones, with no car.
I’ve been a Samsung phone user since the S5 and this issue persists across all their phones since at least that one. The only real solution is to avoid the SBC codec or turn off your watch while listening to music. It will never be patched as it’s been going on for over 6 years. In the early days Galaxy phones only really used SBC so you couldn’t avoid it.
APT-X and AAC are your best options. Good luck finding those on a car system. You can easily find headphones that support them.

Bluetooth to car no track ID

Just got my pixel 5. When connecting to the car via Bluetooth it's not coming up in the car display what track it is and I'm unable to skip to next track using steering wheel controls. Worked perfectly fine on my Mate 20 pro. Any ideas please? It's driving me mad.
Have yours all connected correctly those that are trying it in cars? This is a deal breaker for me so if not a simple fix it's going back.
Same thing happened here, using Spotify. Weirdly it works on my Pixel 2 XL but not on my Pixel 5.
I've reached out to Google to try find out why. Glad it's not just mine at least.
I have just come across this thread before I posted my own. thank God I'm not the only one who is annoyed as I started to think I was going crazy.
This is an absolute deal breaker for me as well. OP what have you done in the meantime? Have you found a workaround? I have even tried downloading 3rd party bluetooth "manager" apps from the play store but had no luck.
Skip, restart, steering wheel functions don't work and options are greyed out on cars infotainment touch screen.
Didn't have this issue on Pixel 2 Android 10.
Yes i found a work around today after reading through many other forums about other phones.
Basically enable developer mode and then change the AVRCP Bluetooth version to 1.3. Turn off Bluetooth then back on again and hopefully yours will work like mine.
I'm not sure what this does or the disadvantage to doing this but I've found connection better this way also. Let me know how you get in.
You can thank android 11 for that.
I think that what is happening here is that some apps haven't yet caught up with changes and advances in the underlying subsystems in Android 11. One that has is VLC. It is working perfectly for me. (I've tried others that didn't so I'm sure this isn't a bug per se)
It's a little disappointing that more effort wasn't put into maintaining backwards compatibility. However, that can often be very difficult, and sometimes impossible, to achieve.
Personally, I don't think that reaching out to Google about this will do any good.
Sent from my Pixel 5 using XDA Labs

You are my absolute saviour! I didn't realise there was a way to revert the Bluetooth version. I thought I was just going to have to wait for a patch!

Thank you for this info. I'm not sure it's necessary, but I'd also recommend after changing this setting, reboot your phone and delete and re-pair the phone to your radio.
