ENUI 9 always ran crap on my mate 20 lite. Even after factory reset and clearing cache made no difference. With all closed I had 1.70gb free ram. Open the camera and you really started noticing the lag and stuttering, switching between camera and gallery ram dropped to 300mb free. Then we had battery life, 10-20% more drain.
After a factory reset and attaching to computer I saw the option restore to previous version, so went back to 8.2.0. Free ram is 2.20GB, with camera open and switching about ram 1.5gb, battery drain gone.
Something is wrong with 9.0 it has ram issues and battery drain.
I'm still at 9.0 but you're right. The RAM usage is too high and the battery drain makes it so I have to charge my phone everyday, instead of having 10h SoT I have like 6 to 7 hours, it's really noticeable. I don't want to downgrade because of the factory reset but I might just do it. In Android Oreo the phone ran amazingly well.
I also notice some lags on instagram on the 9.0 rom as well.

You have to use HiSuite on your PC. Then, in the program, you go to update and you click "see other versions" or something like that, and then you can choose to downgrade.
So I just connect my phone and PC with USB cabel and download hisuit and choose that option?

Yes, that's it.
The new updates (3.64gb and 24kb - not a typo) make the phone feel even faster than 8.2. I had 1.6gb of ram free and now have 2.1gb with the same apps open.
Indeed, the 9.1 made it faster and kinda resolved the battery drain a bit. I had like under 1gb of RAM free for some time and i needed to restart my phone once in a while to free up that space. After EMUI 9.1 came, I now have like minimum 1.5gb free.

Hi. Im a noob i know. I checked the forums. But i did not find what i was looking for.
So. Its really annoying, everytime i clear my ram then in less than 15 seconds its full again. Which drains my battery and takes ages to charge. With this i get overheating. My battery heats ut self up to 60c° and the screen is nearly untouchable as it burns. I use a fan and it cools it down to 33c°. Any help?

I have the latest rocketrom and hydracore kernel
May be do a full format and flash the rom again.

yes. But it drains my battery and makes my phone really hot. Ill maybe just have to go and look for software thatll stop my apps from restarting as soon as i clear RAM. Thanks for help though

no, that's wrong. Clearing the RAM and forcing all the apps to load from scratch is heating the phone and wasting the battery!
The heat is generated by the CPU and the WiFi chip, NOT the RAM!
Android (and most Unix systems) use all available RAM to run more efficiently. It's not a power waste due to using the RAM in a very different way to Windows systems. I can't remember where I read it now, but an Android developer (either at Google or elsewhere) explains this better than me, but this is the general summary.
Short version: DO NOT USE RAM CLEANERS, Android is MEANT to use all available RAM, the CPU is heating the phone BECAUSE it has to load things from scratch rather than pull from RAM.
edit to add: even when something has outrun its usefullness (old program still in RAM, for example) then Android has a very good built-in cleanup system that unloads programs that have not been run for a while. This means that you don't even need to kill old programs that you no longer need!

Actually hte system uses the unused ram to cache other apps so they open faster when you need them..soeven though you clear the ram,it gets full after sometime. You need not worry about that because android can manage it well
And using some task killers could cause you battery drain and even leads to heat your phone
Try formating and reflash the rom
Let's go the crazy analogy route, 'cos they're always fun!
Say you're listening to music on some CDs. You have, say 5 CDs and on each CD there are a only couple of songs you want to listen to, so on a HiFi you'd have to keep switching CDs to get your play list. Let's say that they are also your favourite songs so you play them frequently. Let's call these top 5 songs "Messaging", "Gallery", "Camera", "Phone" and "Music".
So, you rip the CDs to MP3 and create a playlist. The songs are all strung together and they load and play significantly faster than switching discs repeatedly. This is what Android does with programs in RAM. To change between "Messaging" and "Phone" you just double click the file.
Now, you use a task killer to clean your RAM: What you have just done is delete all the MP3s from your computer, put the CDs back in their cases and put the cases back on the shelf. When you next go to play one of your frequently played songs you now have to go to the shelf, find the CD, put the CD in the drive, wait for it to load, then play the song.
Clearly the former is more efficient. The MP3s are not wasting power by being there, they're cached and pre-loaded so they load much more efficiently next time. Clearing everything away and reloading from scratch is much more processor intensive and that is what is generating that heat.
Thanks guys. Its not heating anymore. Thanks for all the help. You guys all get a thanks button clicked
You learn something new everyday. I actually didn't know about the specific way Android deals with ram. I've always cleared ram in the device settings in Airdroid (wifi file transfer app). Never get any battery drain/heatup issues though, but good to know about this, and will now refrain from being OC with clearing ram
Hi everyone.
Just wish to know is it normal that internal memory in Xperia ZR being decreased from 8 to 4,2 GB after upgrading Android from 4.1.2 to 4.3?
Updates takes some memory, of course, but to me 4 GB (50%) seems rather to much...
Anyone experienced this?
If this behavior not normal, please advise how to get back internal memory to normal amount of about 8GB...
Also, I've used Root Manager and tried to find where the rest of almost 4 GB disappeared, following some threads at some forums, but unsuccessfully. Those 4 GB are simply disappeared...
Do you use Google Play music? It was caching massively for me. Had to stop caching or periodically go into the app then settings and click delete cache.
Or maybe it's another app caching?
Just a thought.

You didn't have 8GB to start with - all firmware versions have taken up about 4GB.
From the start the internal storage in our zr (8gb) already being partitioned for the rom, data, cache, etc... Thats y the more apps u installed in ur device the less the storage will be as they eat up the storage for being installed and at the same time generating the data and cache. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Yeah...I realized that in he mean time...
But, I have different problem with my ZR... battery draining rapidly fast. Over night, for some 6-7 hours, it loosing 16% regardless stamina mode on or off...wtf?!
And all with WiFi and Mobile data switched off, processes at minimum (only 5-6 of them works, those default which cannot be stopped), dispaly off....
This is very strange and seems like A 4.3 problem...
When look at the battery consumption, the Android OS is absolute winner with 80% of consumption!
And all this started after upgrading to Android 4.3.
Any solution, or link to solution?

Battery problem should be resolved with the new update patch released - 10.4.1.B.0.101
Probably during the next week everyone should be able to update it.
When i bought this phone, i had 3.4.5 OS version i think, it worked great especially memory management was FANTASTIC i had like 15 apps open and even after 5-6h idle time, the apps where not reloaded. After updating to 4.0 the battery started to get way worse, so i was happy to see they released 4.0.1, but now the battery is a tiny bit better (vs 4.0) but....the apps started to reload like crazy, even 3-4 apps are being reloaded in no time, like 2-3mins?
Anyone have an idea whats going on, is it memory leak?!
factory reset might solve this issue bro
Rooted Note 8/FD 64gb with exposed installed.
Fully charged. From 100 to 90 took only 25 minutes using phone normally with wifi.
And also it charges too late. From 33 to 63 took 45 minutes.
And also scrolling chrome faces lag also playing simple games like "Dune"
Is all of this normal?
Anyone else facing this problem?
I know the warranty is void, but garanty too?
Anyone know a fix?
+ I used smart switch and sent all of my note 4 apps and data to this phone.
and let me add that I played it in game mode so its expected not to lag.
It even lags much more when I start recording...
Restoring is known to cause some issues, I manually installed everything and all has been fine

I did a factory reset and installed no apps.
Just used 4g a little, but still see how fast is draining...
Do you have any other idea?
I think You should flash stock firmware with Odin and leave it on Your phone for a couple of days and see if Your battery gets better.
Also, You should expect around 4 to 6:30hr SOT on Note8. That's the SOT I get and it's usually with low/medium usage.
And on my Xiaomi phone I get 10-12hr SOT with pretty high usage.
Samsung phones don't have the best battery life but I guess it's enough for most people + You can use quick charge.
So, do these things:
Flash stock firmware with Odin.
Use Your phone for like 3-4 days(OS will optimise itself to Your usage).
Take screenshots of how much SOT You get every day and see if it improves during these 3 days.
Tell us about Your results and then we will be able to tell You if Your phone is normal or needs repair .
I know that xposed v88 was bad for n8 regards battery drian.
I have installed v89 xposed.
And it looks much better than older versions.
I know it sounds stupid, but have you checked for viruses?
battery drainage and data consumption are sometimes signs that you have unwanted software or apps installed on your phone.
Do the following steps and see if it works:
1. Boot your phone into Safe Mode.
2. Search for the virus (For this, go to Settings > Application Manager and tap the Downloaded apps section. In most cases, the virus is a third-party app, so look at what you’ve downloaded over there and see if there’s anything suspicious. Notice that your phone may have other types of malicious software but technically these are not viruses.)
3. Uninstall any suspicious app that you can't identify
4. Remove the Device Administrator Status of the virused app
The guide can be found here: https://www.unlockunit.com/blog/how-to-tell-if-your-phone-has-a-virus/
Let me know if you can identify anything suspicious.
Hi so I keep noticing my RAM begins to run low after a couple days. I sit around 2 or below free with no apps open.
Is this how the phone operates normally? I have nearly every app put to sleep when not using under the batter settings.
What's your available RAM after a few days?
Thanks
Completly normal situation. That how Ram memory works. You will not fell better perfomence seeing more free ram, but you feel boost when ram is used. (to start app quicker)

I see. Thanks for the clarification. Ive been going through all settings to try and"fix." Glad it's normal. Phone def seems fast.
If you want to free ram just reboot phone
I usually see between 3 and 4.1 ram available, I have setup auto reboot in the device care, my ram used to be consistently about 4 available until the last update.

How often do you reboot?
Set it up for once a week as you can only have once but you can also setup auto optimisation and have this every other day
