Hello everyone,
My mom's Mi A2 just updated and now doesn't boot, it appears some "android recovery, can't load android system. your data may be corrupt, TRY AGAIN or FACTORY DATA RESET".
The problem is that the phone is full of photos from hers recent travels in the internal memory, my question is: there is anyway to recover the photos? if I click "factory data reset" it will delete everything?
Thank you for your time helping me, cheers!
No ways to save data unless phone is unlocked (at least I know none).
Try to reboot many times with external power on and off, phone finally must boot into inactive A/B slot, immediately save data, get dev rights and switch on OEM unlock in dev props. I'd also make unlock general and unlock critical, thus nex time you'll be able to load phone in TWRP and save any data you need to.

Hi everyone,
A few days ago I ran my Moto X 2014 out of battery while watching a video. It just shut off, which has come to be normal with its older battery. However, after it shut off it seemed to have corrupted much of the data for the GUI, and even what loads wont properly unlock the phone. I have tried wiping the catche, holding power + volume for 3 minutes (as reccomended by motorola support) and more at no avail. I am wondering if there is any way to recover my photos and some other data without getting into the OS? My computer can see the phone, but since it is not unlocked I cannot access any of the file system. If there is it would be a great help, as I did not back up my phone. If you have any possible idea how to lmk, I am ready to try nearly anything.
Thanks

You could boot into TWRP recovery and access your files via USB.
If you aren't using TWRP download it and perform a "temporary flash" by running the following command in an admin prompt:
fastboot boot twrp.img

Won't work, his bootloader is locked, which means he can't boot nor flash twrp. And if he unlocks it, it erases all the data.
There isn't anything you can do. The only option is factory reset...unfortunately everything will be lost. It's important to make backups for when things like this happen.

Thanks for the help guys, that's what I was figuring. Ive only had the phone for a month and didnt think it would fail so soon. Well, I guess I wont get bitten by the same snake twice, Ill be replacing it with a phone that has an SD card slot within the next day or 2.

was usb debugging on? if yes you can recover the data through adb
Hey guys,
My un-modified, bootloader locked OP3T suddenly froze earlier today and I can't really use it anymore...
Phone froze and shut off and I think that broke some system files... When I turn the phone back on, it is very laggy for a few seconds, I can barely enter my pincode (took my SIM card out to see if that was the problem) and then it freezes and shuts off again. I entered the (stock) recovery, wiping the cache didn't solve anything and using the "reset system setting" option actually freezes mid-reset and doesn't solve my problem either... The only way I can get adb working is if I go into sideload mode. And I can't get my pictures back... My only options are a full factory reset (that might not even function) or using the unbrick toolkit... Either of those options will wipe my data and none of my vacation pictures have been backed up to GDrive or Dropbox...
Is there a way of resetting my system without wiping the data partition OR a way of backing up my pictures before wiping the phone?
Thanks in advance for your advice
At least if you could get to dev tools and enable oem unlocking , flash TWRP and from recovery you can access your data! you could try to flash the latest OOS 4.5.1 and see how that goes!
Great idea! I need to find a way to get to the dev options really quickly... Haven't managed to get to the settings before the freeze yet...

Unlocking the bootloader will wipe the phone.
I think the best (only?) hope is adb pull or boot to OS long enough to mount MTP and copy the pics. But it doesn't sound like the one stays on long enough to do either.
Better utilize the unlimited auto photo backup option to Google Photos for the next time. I never lose any photos anymore (either for ROM changes or device changes) since I use Photos. Thanks, Google!

To be honest, i dont know how i forgot that unlocking the bootloader will erase the /data/media .... my bad sorry!!!
Wiping data in recovery is not wiping your files in data/media!
Yesterday I was using my phone and it suddenly started rebooting itself. Since my bootloader was locked, my phone was stock rom, no root, no custom recovery and usb debugging off my hopes of doing something through ADB or Fastboot vanished. I think it is fixable but I would like to recover all my data first. I heard that you can try to get your phone into EDL mode in order to recover your data, so I tried to via test point method and my phone is now recognized as Qualcomm 9008. However, afaik this mode wont let me recover any data, and I need to get it to be 9006 instead of 9008. Any help?
Proceed at your risk.
The test point method http://en.miui.com/thread-693884-1-1.html it is using Mi flash tools to flash the ROM so you can opt out for save user data in order to keep internal storage.
in that thread it is mentioned to clean flash but there is one step given to save user data so i don't know what things will be saved and what not. most possibly itll wipe app and its data so messages, call logs, contact will get wiped if there are in internal storage if they haven't backed up to the cloud.
do read carefully and then proceed.

I guess I´ll try that then, I already saw this ''Wipe everything but userdata'' option but was not sure, as it seems a bit strange. I'll give it a shot, thanks!

So I tried this and, after dealing with many versions of Mi Flash (newer ones crashed, older ones had many errors) I was finally able to flash a fastboot rom but unfortunately I'm still stuck in the bootloop. I guess wiping data is an unavoidable fate. Thanks again 4 everything
1.Install twrp.(if you dont have)
2.Turn off phone and click power volup+voldown and when phone turns on release power btn. Recovery will appear wipe data, cache, dalvik, system, vendor then install any rom (i recommend pixelexperience or miui stable). Then wait if there an bootloop i cant help bye.
Hello everyone, I'm new to this platform, hope you guys will bear with my limited knowledge and help me out.
So, I have a Moto E4 plus device which was working fine, until one day, I used up its entire battery and it switched off. I took it and put it on charging, not knowing what was about to happen. When the battery was charged to 70% or something, I started the phone and unlocked it, but in like 10 seconds, it restarted automatically. I didn't download anything, never rooted the device, it was in original condition. Now, the phone is stuck in restart loop. Every time I restart the device, it works for 5 seconds, and then it goes in a loop of restarting again and again. I went to the recovery mode, backup up all the internal data in an SD card. The backup shows 13 files of 2GB each with an extension ".backup". I don't know how to access them.
Then, I did a hard reset and it worked just fine with no issues at all. Now, I need those files as they are very important for me, considering they have the last memories of someone I lost (not playing the emotional card, I hope you might feel the depth of the situation). Can anyone please help with accessing these files?
1. I did restore the files from recovery mode from that SD card, but the same issue reappears again.
2. I have all the 13 files copied with me in my PC
3. I tried wiping cache partition, it doesn't work
Need one of the two solutions
A. How to access these backup files, considering they are 13 files of 2 GB each with ".backup" extension
B. Accessing the files in recovery mode (the phone gives only a 5 seconds window which is eaten up in unlocking the screen)
Kindly give a solution which a layman can understand , hope you understand.
PS, I never even turned the developer's option on & the data is important, not the phone
Thank you!

Most likely that they are only usable to recovery that they were created with.
Was this Twrp? or stock recovery?

It was stock recovery, but I have my phone accessible in that state also. Is there any possibility to create a custom backup without actually booting up the phone or accessing those stock recovery files?
like the title says I uninstalled the mentioned apps using adb and all of a sudden my camera stopped working so I decided for a simple restart and the device stuck in the loop ever since.
it restarts several times and open realme UI recovery and when I choose language it says " KINDLY REMINDER : system error, after select language, please select Online update(keep data) to recovery system, thanks! " .
So I did what the message said and I connect the wifi but instead of updating it says no updates found.
I also tried to wipe data but I got asked whether to retain contacts/media or format data.
I obviously tried the first one because I need the data but as expected it didn't work.
I am skeptical to clean format because I feel that I can still fix it with retaining the data.
I tried all the key combinations but only the realme UI recovery comes up . Please help me!
thank you
I don't think you'll be able to fix this without a full reflashing of the ROM using SP Tools and a format of the data partition from Recovery. You probably don't have access to full ADB now, if at all, and Fastboot won't help you recover anything. However, you should be able to rescue important files before you do this, as long as you have unlocked your bootloader.
Follow the steps here to install TWRP custom recovery. Once done, you can boot into it from fastboot by running `fastboot reboot recovery`. Once you're in TWRP, you can mount partitions so you can access them over USB from your PC.
Once you've got your important files transferred to your PC, take a full backup to be safe, then flash the stock ROM. This thread can help you do both of those things. Note that flashing the stock ROM using SP Tools will also restore the stock recovery. Once the process is done, boot right into fastboot and use it to reboot back into the stock recovery before letting it actually boot the ROM. Format your data partition (yes the whole thing). Now you can restart, and it should go through first time setup just fine.
I was going to uninstall these apps, but was too lazy. Guess lazyness is not too bad after all.
@Ricodey have you got the solution for this thing beacause i am also experiencing same issue

Unfortunately I had to go for the latter option of complete reset with the loss of data to get my device boot up . It seems the option to recover the device with data seems too complicated and not to mention the fact that this process is not without it's own risks. If you want an easy out from this issue I suggest that you complete format the device and have your important data backed up from now.
And Obviously I had data not backed up which I wanted on my device during this issue but it wasn't too important and I could let go of it cuz rest of my data was backed up.. but being the nerd I am, I tried to recover that data too.. but as I said it wasn't worth the time and risk for me so I chose the latter option.
Hope this helps! Do reply if you need further assistance !

for me the issue was like i just downgraded my device to the a.15 firmware after setting up i uninstalled the bloatware apps and some google apps which were not needed obviously and restarted my device and it got a bootloop, the issue of bootloop wasn't new to me i previoulsy had the same issue when i have downgraded to a.19 firmware. there is a simple fix, if you want to get rid of the bloatware apps now also you can use the disable command like.
(pm uninstall-user --user 0 ----package name---) this will not give any bootloop and can enjoy a part of RAM....
THIS WILL HELP
