Hello everyone,
I just bought my new Realme X2 Pro from AliExpress a few days ago, and have been facing an annoying issue.
Although I have disabled Smart Power Saver and App Quick Freeze features in the settings, almost all the installed applications do not pop up any notification. I also have enabled notifications for each app, such as Yahoo email, Gmail, Mobile banking apps, Telegram, Imo, WhatAPP, etc., and have allowed them to always run in the background. I know it would drain the phone battery, but I thought doing these kinds of stuff would fix the notification problem. I did whatever the Realme website suggested and also what the community proposed.
This is my first experience with an unknown cellphone brand, and I have to put it to the experience.
I was wondering if anybody can advise me on a solution.
I have to mention that I did factory reset my phone thrice and also updated my phone to the latest OS version, but nothing changed!
Suggested solutions by Realme which did not work:
https://www.realme.com/in/support/kw/doc/FAQ1106
I would appreciate your valuable comments on this topic.
It's very strange,
I buy from Amazon the european blue 12GB 256GB and I only setup my programs and I don't have any issue in notifications at all.
I use Skype, Telegram, Whatsapp, 4 e-mails accounts and everything work good has expected. I have this phone 5 days ago and I don't have this notification issue.
And is a very boring issue.
As far as I know: Chinese ROM have problems with notifications ...EU ones is good

So go in the apps that you aren't getting messages from in the app list in the settings menu and in one of the options you can select wifi or wifi and data . I had a bunch of apps that were set to wifi by default so I had to adjust that (I just went through and activated the wifi&data option for all the apps regardless) and also if you like use adb to remove Athena package that fixed all notification issues for me.

Yes, it is. It randomly occurs for people who own Realme and Oppo!

Thanks for the comment. WiFi and Data are enabled by default for every application, and changing them did not solve the notification issue.
Remove coloros.athena.com service through adb. It will solve the problem. U can also remove other Chinese apps too.

It's com.coloros.athena if I'm not mistaken.
So in adb run:
adb shell PM uninstall -k --user 0 com.coloros.athena

Thanks, I just did it, but it didn't solve the issue. If I close the recent apps, no notification will be shown. I need to keep the apps running in the background and do not tap on close the application icon, which is not acceptable. We close the recent applications habitually.
Any solutions?
In my case it eventually worked for Gmail but Hangout still needed it to be in the background for instant notifications. I have already submitted a ticket to their Chinese bug forum.

Yeah, Gmail mostly shows the notifications, but Yahoo Mail, WhatsApp, IMO, and even mobile banking apps do not show any notification. I miss so many calls and chats because of that. I have enabled run in the background and have disabled the power saving, but most of the apps do not follow the rules. ColorOS kills them completely. I reckon Realme Chinese versions have these issues.

Yea hopefully they will fix some of it with the next update. But on the other hand you don't have to miss those calls and chats. We can still lock the apps in the background for instant notifications in the meantime.
I talked to the company support and told me the next updates will solve this

Hi,
Even if we lock an app in the background, if we swipe up, that app would be closed! We usually do it. Realme and ColorOS should release an update for Chinese version of Realme X2 Pro model to get it fixed.
Same issue
I'm experiencing this issue.. I have a Chinese master gray model.. Such a disappointment when I started using this phone. Had such high expectations.
I never get email notifications WhatsApp works sometimes Facebook sometimes messenger sometimes who knows whatever else works and doesn't work. I went through 250+ apps turning everything on in notifications. My battery is set to high performance all the time.
This has to be the worst phone I've ever owned. Whether it's because it's a Chinese rom or Color OS who knows. Would love someone to find a solution
If i find a solution I'll update you

Please participate in the pool. Your vote is highly appreciated.
I'm on the EU version and GMail will only notify me of emails from my main Gmail account, I don't receive notifications on 3 other email accounts that I have linked to the into the Gmail app. even though its set up to do so.
In the settings there are suggestions that cannot be removed. This is not a fault of Xiaomi, Google delivers the stock without any option to remove it. Companies like Nokia and Motorola implemented an X at the top of each block to be removed, but it depends on the company.
Below the solution for motorola, note the X at the top.
Are you sure about this?
In this link the original poster is affected by this in what seems to be a pixel phone.

The notification bar with the battery display is not a Pixel phone.
You are right, it's probably an umidigi. I guess in both cases you get what you pay for.
No
Nope, you're wrong, the x button on top of settings suggestion is an AOSP feature implemented in Settings Suggestion app and due to a bug is not being shown. Also device personalization app which is responsible for app suggestions in quick switch can't operate because it's not a system app.
The correction must have come in stock then.
Ya, it's not a bug. Please don't fix it.
Bug or not bug, a Mi A3 user came up with a solution that works with Mi A2 too, does not require root and does not disable the searchbar.
Also Mi A3 has an option to hide suggested Apps in the app drawer.

Suggested apps is such a joke in android 10. There are times that only 2 or 3 apps are "suggested" and it then looks horrible. Also "suggestions" is just the last used apps, not much of a suggestion.

If xiaomi hasn't fixed this issue for the Mi A2 yet, try using this command in adb and see if it works:
Code:
adb shell settings put global setting_apps_suggestions_enabled 0
I was messing around with Setedit app on my Mi A3 and seems to be related with the app suggestions in launcher (on my device at least).
I'm a Xiaomi 11 ultra MIUI 12 user ... why doesn't the incoming WhatsApp call appear on the screen?

See permissions in the Whatsapp app from the apps menu in MIUI.

Same issue on 11 ultra Chinese, nothing helps
Clear cache and if problem persist data
I just got my 11 ultra with cn ROM. Trust me, nothing you do will make it ring. Pretty much just flash to global ROM or eu ROM. I flash to eu ROM and everything works great. Gpay, Google duo, whatsapp calls, all notifications. Save the trouble and upgrade your software. There is a new stable version of global miui 13 just released and apparently it is also great so maybe try that

Try to give all the permissions you can to whatsapp, that worked for me.
Something unrelated but everyone must know: rentry.co/owot3
Did someone solve this problem? Still persistent even on custom ROMs for me
So I installed 12.5 Enchanced on my China Ultra and now I don't receive notifications from WhatsApp and Gmail at least...
Any way to fix it?
Try wipeing cache and data for Google play services and reinstall the apps

tried it but didnt help
Then try to set app autostart for the apps you need prompt notifications, also you can check in the option for notification priority and set that to "notification". If that doesn't help you might need to activate developer option and search for notification priority and deactivate or activate what's set. See if that help
Already did all of those. MIUI is just killing those apps and I don't get notifications. Not a notification bug. Background apps issue...
For example Messenger have same settings and everything is ok!
Honestly I can't do much more, I have no idea then, sorry about that
I am also on CN Enhanced firmware and found the same issue with WhatsApp and Gmail only. I finally managed to fix it by doing this - Battery, Settings, Scenarios, Sleep Mode OFF. Mine was toggled on. Otherwise try the notification priority for Whatsapp, Gmail and all Google applications including system ones, set to important. Something to do with apps running through Google services on CN version I suspect. Hope this works for you. I had the same problem with Mi 10 Pro once updating to MIUI 12.5. The most irritating problem ever.
I would suggest you go to the App Battery Saver option and exclude them from the app battery saver option.
That might work.
CN options on most phones kill all notifications except Chinese apps. That's why I don't really use the Chinese market Android OS.

Anyone using the Chinese ROM outside china needs their head examined imo....
Endless complaints of stuff not working for months now....
Out of curiosity, what are the advantages of using the CN OS rather than the EU OS?

The Chines rom is not usable for most in the west, due to its quirks and lack of Google services. It's really a simple fix, it's called unloack the bootloader and flash another rom. I don't understand what everyone is whining about, after all, it's not rocket science.

Not the OS only. CN Rom get regular updates, although as i read it improves some thing and breaks others. But apart from that right now you can get the chinese 12/256 variant for 950$ roughly. In the UK the price is 1199 pounds - around 1630$. That's a big difference.

It is always possible with a Xiaomi device to unlock your bootloader and flash an alternative rom, such the Xiaomi.eu rom, which has all the upgraded features of the China rom, combined with Google services that is in the global rom.
same... WA notification delayed..
now i just off the miui optimisation... i shall see.
ok... WA still DC when using WA WEB... so problem still remains. so i guess no fix for this.

Weird mate, I've a NanoLeafs set for my Kids room and it's still there and functions correct.
Maybe wipe app cache/phone and if it still doesn't work then report it as a bug to Oppo as feedback?

Is not there mate, on google home app they appear whit no problem, i have maybe 40 IoT devices, and no problem. But on android 12 device control, if u swipe down your control center u will se device control option, there u cand add your IoT devices to easy acess on power menu.
I contact OPPO Portugal and they say to me will analyze with the team of engineers.
I contact Google Home suport and they say to contact OPPO contrariwise.
Idk, its really stupid because Xiaomi and LG thing appear normal, but google home no.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Oppo/comments/w2tlkx
u can see there people whit same bug.
I have the same problem.
I also have the same problem, have to say that in Android 12 they did not appear either.
To add more information. I have to say that I was waiting for it to update to ColorOs 13 to see if it would be solved but yesterday I updated and the same error continues. However, I have a Oneplus 6 where it works perfectly and that both devices are from the same company
Same issue here. Done a full factory reset and still not showing up
I came from a oneplus in which it went perfectly. I buy the new Oppo X5, I install Google Home and it doesn't work
Having a OnePlus that just "upgraded" to Oxygen 11/Android 13, which is more or less ColorOS. Worked before upgrade, but after I have exactly the same issue a mentioned here. Sucks.
