Anyone having issues with their screens?
I have a red tint near the top right corner.. the bottom left is more bright than the top... it appears like a gradient accross the screen... noticable on dark greys... What should I do? is it a defect or are all devices like this?
Help please. any inputs will be appreciated.
How low is your brightness and is it set to adaptive?

The brightness is set to full, adaptive is off. When set to full, the tint is low but noticable.. when set to 50% the tint becomes more prominent.. and I do not have a problem with the tint.. it is just that it is not uniform.. the top right is tinted while the rest of the display is not.. it is really disturbing when reading an email or typing in landscape.
I think color uniformity issues are quite common on this device. You see some threads on reddit and also here on xda about this issue, most people have some sort of yellow or red tint on parts of their displays. The display of my Nexus 6 is a bit more yellow to the lower right of the screen, however I really only notice it on higher brightness with darker colors in apps like Google Camera or the Material Dark keyboard theme. It used to bug me in the beginning, but I somehow got used to it. I don't see the need for an RMA and get a potentially worse device with other defects as mine is perfect otherwise.

I was thinking the same.. it doesnt bug me that much. but when it comes to keyboard on landscape and specially the google camera dark grey background.. i can clearly see it... otherwise my device is perfect. I read a lot of articles too.. the device is expensive and at such a price getting a flawed display is unacceptable. My main question is are all amoleds like this.. because I had a galaxy s3 and it had a perfect display with no tint. Are all nexus 6's suffering from this problem or is it just a defective batch that is affecting some people. ? My device is just 2-3 day old so I can get a replacement.... although I am hesitant to do so..

I know the feeling, when my device was just a few days old I freaked out like this too. It's hard to justify at this price point but the truth is, no device is perfect. I went through several N5's back in the day and none of them were perfect, most of them had a few dead pixels, creaking body or even dust particles in the camera.
If you say your device is perfect otherwise, won't you rather live with such a small and hard to notice defect than going through a cycle of potentially worse devices? If you ask me, don't go for a replacement. But in the end it's up to you.
Getting a replacement.

Here my vendor is sending me a new device. A box packed one. It should arrive in 2-3 days. The tint on mine isn't noticable when the brightness is above 70% , but I cant use the phone continously at night at such high brightness. Besides the tint is so bugging me when reading anything.. browser, play books.. the uneven color temperature from top to bottom.. it is really annoying and considering that I have paid so much for this I wont settle for this. Lets see how the replacement is, I'll post when it arrives.
Got my replacement.
I got my replacement yesterday. THERE IS NO TINT. BUT. the display has a vertical band that is noticable at time. Well, I can put up with this atleast there is no uneven color anymore. I cannot describe how awesome it feels to use a flawless / near flawless display.
Got my Mi 8 from chinese aliexpress seller last week and noticed right away after turning the phone on that colors look washed out. Did some more testing later and noticed that some parts of display are really unevenly lit when using brightness under 50%. Also it has visible vertical lines in low light and low screen brightness. I get color banding in almost all gradients in images. I compared Mi 8 to Nexus 6 that I have been using 4 years now daily and the nexus screen is far better than mi 8. No banding, colors look great and I dont even get any uneven areas in low brightness.
Has anyone had any quality problems with mi8 screens?
I am yet to get response from seller. I would have bought the phone from local store with better warranty but they are yet to get any phones in stock.
My device is also affected by vertical color banding, more people have this issue.
Could give some examples?

May be a faulty display. Other people had the same problem:

I have not had any screen display/quality issues with my Mi8, however i have the newer 8gb/128gb phone version. There was a test done on the Mi8 screens, and they are Samsung OLED screens made by Samsung -the same ones in their phones (just cooler color tuning through software). Here is an in-depth screen review on the Mi8:
https://www.devicespecifications.com/en/editor-review/4f1676/3
I would have to agree that you probably have a defective unit, or maybe you have a refurb/repaired phone that they replaced the screen with a cheaper version?

Sorry for not posting anything regarding my screen situation. I have been contacting last 3 months every week to Aliexpress support trying to get this solved, seller won't respond and for some reason I can't get warranty, they wont tell me why. My old Nexus 6 died a while ago and I had to use this piece of crap now. Below you can find picture regarding the problem. Its not glare from external light - screen has this inequality and banding can be seen too. Compared to my nexus 6 of course. Both phones at ~50 % brightness in complete darkness.
I might try sell this phone for as faulty or get some kind of compensation from seller and then buy 6T. No more xiaomis' for me.

So, today at night I noticed that when I'm in the camera in dark areas, or in Spotify with a dark background. I noticed that the screen in the middle from the notch till the chin has a lighter colour than the edges. The width of it is about half the screen centred in the middle. It's kinda like how Zack (jerryrigeverything) puts a lighter to the screen and the pixels turn white, but it's not that extreme. It's only noticeable in low brightness, and dark backgrounds, not black. The most noticeable was in video on the front camera. The "stain" has a lighter blueish tone to it.
I'll leave some pictures for you to test them. I know that when I checked on my phone again with light, the stain wasn't there. Test them in a low lit area, and lower the brightness almost to the lowest setting.
The second pic is the front camera (the most noticeable in person). On xda, I find Spotify to the most noticeable.
Maybe I'm blind but for me everything is ok. Maybe you have DC dimming on. Sometimes screen may look weird in dark areas with that option turned on.
Yes this must be due to DC dimming, called anti-flicker in the settings, shut that off and see if it gets better. If you want to show us how it looks you will have to take a photo of the screen with another camera since it doesn't show in a screenshot. That picture is captured before it is sent to the display. The "anti-flicker" setting is known to produce distortion at low light conditions.

Ok. I'll test it tonight. If I use another camera, it'll just blow the image or just won't show up.

so ive tested it on and off. With dc on, it made worse. So i left it off. The picture ive taken (which was the best i could take) shows a green hue highlighted with the circle. I dont think its the screen protector as it only shows up on low brightness and dark colours, especially grey. Any ideas?
P.s. It looks a bit worse in person than in the pic.
Oh, now I see but I couldn't reproduce it on my Mi9, no matter what brightness or with DC dimming on/off. I'm afraid it may be some screen issue.
That's a dark gray uniformity issue, it's fairly standard on oleds, especially low end ones such as this one. On mine the green tint is most prominent on the top right corner and gradually lessens to the opposite corner. There might be more uniform ones out there but they're like what, 1 in 10 units? If you say yours actually looks worse than in the photo you might have one of the worse ones, but if you can exchange this unit don't expect to get one that's significantly better. To get one that's surely better you have to go for the more expensive ones because those use newer generation panels so the uniformity issues only show at the darkest of grays and and the brighter parts will actually be brighter white which is correct, not green as is the case with the mi 9 panel(pre 2017 panel, samsung stopped having this issue on the s8).

Since I never saw this on a Mi9, not mine or any other, I don't think this is true in the case of the Samsung display used by Xiaomi on the Mi9.
The topic starter should contact the seller and get a replacement.

That’s entirely up to you! Can you disregard the distortion you will be ok, but if you find yourself constantly noticing it and being annoyed by it then it will be well worth the hassle I would guess. But only you know what’s right!
Have this on mine, ordered another one in hopes that I can get a better one but it was slightly worse, checked the one they had in a newly opened mi store, that one had it as well to a similar degree. Saying this doesn't happen on the mi 9 is bollocks, all of them have it to some extent, it's a question of how much you're willing to tolerate.
The best thing you can do IMO when you're in a pickle about returning something is do what I said I did: order another one but keep the first one around, compare and just keep the one you like more. That way you won't feel bad about returning the first one and being stuck with the 2nd or just being stuck with the 1st if you don't return at all. Obviously it all depends if you can fit all this into however much time you've got left to return, I was lucky to have 30 days.
Dind!t notice that

I also experience the touch screen issue on my Galaxy S20 FE.
I have created a short video on how to check and reproduce it: Galaxy S20FE touch screen issue - testing and reproducing
Please share your comments if you also experience it.
Did that experiment and i think my device is "ghost touch free".

Yes, if you don't experience this, you unit is issue-free. I have also asked others to test, they have no issue at all.
This is why I think that *might* be a hardware/production issue.

Yes, that's what it would seem to suggest - and it's discouraging, I was really hoping this was a software issue. Would the 120 Hz refresh be a factor in this? That is, do you get the same result at 60 Hz?

Nothing. Either under charging or not, either 60Hz or 120Hz, no matter if Touch Sensitivity is set to low or high, it happens.
But as it doesn't happen for everyone with the same software, it tends to be a hardware issue or a production defect.

Thanks for the feedback. It seems not all users are having this issue. If you cannot reproduce the issue following the video instructions, then you are touch error-free. But then, it shows that it is not a general issue, but some manufacturing defect. For the red tint, I have seen your other post, I also have a barely visible greenish one, around where the camera is, and around the bottom 1/3 mark. But as it was stated, it is somewhat "normal".

Good question. I spoke with Samsung Support and they wanted me to visit the Service Center. I told them that I will not spend that much time on it, this phone is too expensive for having this kind of support. I will just return it and ask for a refund, then wait 1-2 months if the problem is solved.
I was just thinking yesterday...
This phone has Gorilla Glass 3 on the display, which is a way different structure than current GG6 (or GG4). GG3 is much thicker and more acts like a glass (breaks easier). Since GG4, newer Gorilla Glasses are more flexible, thinner, and more durable, too.
What if Samsung has just put a thick glass on top of a modern digitizer (touch panel) which was designed for a different structure and much thinner glass layer, and this causes the touch problems?

I notice it under normal circumstances like browsing, while straight looking at it, when the page background is like pale yellow/orange. It is only a bit visible, but when you read text and scroll, it is disturbing that the greenish tint remains on the screen. But honestly, this is not that bad. On a white background, I don't even notice it.
When I look from a bottom angle and moving the phone's angle, the tint bars move as well.

You mean are referring to the green tint correct? Are you saying that you have no reddish/pink tint at all on your phone?
I notice it very clearly when looking at it at angle or even normal position. And I can see it move when I move the phone to different positions.
the XDA review has the same issue actually (nothing on the touchscreen): https://www.xda-developers.com/samsung-galaxy-s20-fe-review/
"The viewing angles, though, are disappointing because the display still features visible angular color shifting to blue as well as a rainbow out interference effect at extreme angles. Newer Samsung OLED panels have eliminated the rainbow out interference effect, and also reduced off-axis color shifting by a significant amount. The Galaxy S20+’s viewing angles, for example, are much better because the color shifting is much lower. Strangely, even the cheaper Galaxy M51 (review) doesn’t feature the interference effect issue (that is likely caused by the polarizer)."

True, I have no reddish tint, I have some greenish one When looking straight at the phone, it is around the opposite side of the camera, and about a thumb tall. But really, not that visible, I just see it because I know it is there
I read the quoted article. This can also easily happen because of Gorilla Glass 3, maybe it has different inner reflection that causes these bands.

That sounds reasonable...however, what about all the phones using GG5, 6, or above that have a tempered glass screen protector on them, which would certainly make the glass atop the digitizer much thicker, and that do NOT have any touch issues? It seems to me that the thickness of the glass...up to a reasonable measure that I do not know what it may be...is not the issue here because my S20 FE does not have the touch issues. But mine does always turn on in my pocket. So it seems as if the proximity sensor is faulty. I wonder if this "bug" is somehow related to the touch issues. Though they appear to be different problems...they are related to how the screen works. Clearly something is wrong and I am not sure that any of it can be fixed with software. SMH

You are right, I also thought of it, but not only the thickness, but also the material structure can cause problems like transferring more static electricity to the digitizer that cause ghost touches. And the glass screen protector is on top of the screen which is far enough in distance from the digitizer. I can also imagine that combining this digitizer with GG3 would require less manufacturing tolerance than they used, and that causes just too much defective units. Just guessing...
But as you also stated, problems are mostly with the screen and touch panel. Ghost touches, incorrect finger recognition causing jerks, pocket wakeup, reddish/greenish tint on the screen. And +1: not all users have this problem.
If this would be a software-related issue, all models would be affected more or less. If some units are fine, some are wrong, with the exact same software, then it should be a hardware-related problem. Question: do they used different brand of digitizers for different units, or there is just a huge ratio of defective units coming out of the factory because they had to put as many units on sale as they could because Pixel 5 and iPhone 12 has arrived and they wanted to catch a lot of customers? Just guessing, again...

If watching from bottom angle, I see the bands, but in straight view, I only see some greenish tint. It is not very disturbing for me. I mean, I have a LED TV, which has some of these typical IPS clouding effect on the screen edges. 99% of the time, it is not visible because the content is bright. But when watching a movie that has a night scene and there is no ambient light in the room, it is awful. But in general, I like the TV

Interesting, thank you for the response. I see the red tint straight on and at angles too, so maybe we have a similar issue but a different color?
I also have a LG OLED, which can look quite bad in some very dark scenes because of banding.
