After playing Shadowgun Legends many time, I only get 3:30 hour screen on time with the game from 100% to 0%.
I play game each time on Ultra High with 60 FPS settings, audio volume 20-40% on speaker. Battery drain rate during gameplay is higher on Shadowgun Legends.
So, is it normal to get that much of Screen On Time with this game on higher settings and also, device get heated.

I have same problem, but not when Gaming my z1 lag for some second and they smooth again. after some minutes my device stuck again and i try some setting cpu in kernel auditor and my phone back normal again
I can't be the only but has anybody noticed the phone overheating quickly with moderate gaming or even an antutu benchmark. This is without X mode. When I do the same with my K20 Pro, it doesn't overheat like the Rog Phone 2.
How are you defining overheating? The device throttling? Do you receive overheat warnings?
Just because a phone gets hot doesn't mean it's performing worse. If anything it could mean it has better heat dissipation due to better contact between cooling and cpu. I play dual screen 2 games at once for 3 hours straight and the cpu remained cool around 40C. I kept my cpu speed down because it was overkill anyway

Can feel the heat near the upper left of the back of the phone. Temps were in 40s.
40s is not overheating at all. ROG phone has higher surface temperature than some phones but it's because it's barely throttling even after 1 hour of gaming. No need to worry

Exactly, it's not overheating, it's doing its job. It's moving that heat away from the internal components and to the outside of the phone via the vapor chamber, external vent, and aluminum side body section near the vent. Throw a slim case on the phone if you don't like feeling it warm in your hands, or tweak the game mode profiles to underclock the CPU and GPU and/or lower the thermal limit during games that make it heat up too much in your hand.

Agreed. It makes perfect sense that the t6ip left is getting warm, that's where the vent is
Rog phone 2 tencent edition overheating and shutting down
My Phone overheats and shuts down when under heavy load, or while charging while im sleaping. it first happened while playing pubg mobile and streaming my game to youtube. I can feel it gets very hot and after a while it just switches off. i also tried the antutu stress test and when it reaches 5% it switches off, i opened the armory crate to check the temps while antutu was doing the stress test and saw that my cpu reaches 73°c and then again it switches off. this is with xmode off.

That's definitely abnormal. You should try to get a replacement or warranty repair.

any updates. i’m having the same issue.
Same here. When I play games like ML or any games my phone overheating fast then my screen will turn off ..and another issue when I charge my phone while overheat my phone will shutdown
does anyone knows how to fix this?:crying::
I'm having the same issue. Charging overnight - it gets really hot, and sometimes it'll randomly reset. Not gaming or running much in the background. It happened since the last update prior to the most recent
Keep in mind that Rog phone 2 has a SnapDragon 855+ and + means it's overclocked. While other normal phones out there runs on default speed settings. So that's probably why Rog phone 2 can get hot quickly due to it's overclocking.
Mine gets very hot along the edges. In fact it gets so hot along the edges that it burns my fingers. CPU temp doesn't ever go much above 45 but the sides become untouchable... Is this a feature designed to stop you playing and thus save the phone from melting in your hands? ??

I had this problem on Android 10, but the problem was reduced when downgrading back to Android 9.

Yep android is a dealbreaker. Extreme overheating cause of the software.
After long time and intensive research, I found the real problem which is cpu/gpu refusing to throttle while on load. Usually the system reduces the clock speed of the cpu to keep the temperature between acceptable working range (room temperature - max of 60°c)
If cpu doesn't throttle, the cpu temperature rises until it reaches the max (i.e 65°C which is critical temperature as per A10s updated thermal framework) and shuts down the device.
I found a workaround which involves reducing manually the clock speed as the temperature increases.
But it requires tasker app(paid) and root to work.
My S21 Ultra (SM-G998B/DS) freezes for 2-3 seconds every 5-10 mins while playing games (e.g Grim Soul, Last Day on Earth etc). I've disabled auto manage performance on Game Booster, set the phone to 1080P/60FPS but the issue persists. CPU temperature while playing games does not exceed 39 degrees Celsius and battery temperature 35 degrees Celsius. I am on the latest April 1st security patch, however this issue has persisted since I bought the phone 1,5 month ago.
Any suggestions?

Maybe you have some app that kicks in at some point while playing?
Are you only on stock or custom rom?

i got the same problem... (sm-g988B/ds)
on stock and custom rom its the same...
don't know why too
I don't know if we have the same problem. But the wild rift is the only game that has this issue for me. It will randomly freeze for 1 second.

Have you tried enabling enhanced processing from the battery settings? It does say that it wont affect gaming performance but try it anyway. And also, is your battery saver on?
It is a strange issue. I don't really play games on the phone so I can't say if i have the same thing.
I get 3 sec freeze when watching a YouTube video. It will freeze before video but keep playing audio

Yes tried enabling enhanced processing but it had no visible effect. No battery saver is off.
Hello, been playing CODM for a couple of months now and i've read numerous post about removing GOS or Game optimizing Service to reduce throttling, and it did. however i conducted a short test on just how much battery it consumes while i play, and i got 12% per 20min of gaming. I'm not so sure if that's normal as for me it seems a little bit too high, playing at High settings and Max framerate. Is it normal to consume that much battery?
i'm playing on FHD+ resolution and no background apps running
Hello there
I'm having an issue getting around 3hrs only of screen time, and after monitoring the device for several days I noticed that the refresh rate is stuck at 120hz even if I'm on the home screen not touching the phone
After changing the refresh rate to 60hz the battery performance is now excellent i'm getting around 8 to 10 hrs
So the problem for me was that the software was not handling the refresh rate right and even while using the phone with 60hz it never drops to 1 or 5hz
It's STUCK to either 120hz or 60hz
Any suggestions about fixing this issue?
It suppose to have an adaptive LTPO2 screen...

Yes i agree with you, that is the same problem with me, I just noticed it stays on 120hz every single time. THAT'S WEIRD.
Thanks for letting me know, unfotunately, i have no solutions for it, I will be waiting for someone to find a method to fix it.
I think it can be resolved with a minor system update, it's all about this post reaching someone inside OnePlus.
Until then you should lower the refresh rate to 60hz in order to save the battery health "wear cycles".

Unfortunately it requires the phone to be rooted
I tried the 120hz now under sunlight and noticed that above 80% of the brightness the refresh rate drops to 1hz while reading, above 50% and below 80% it drops to 10hz, and below 50% of the brightness it is stuck to the 120hz
I think if an update came to fix the refresh rate under 50% brightness the battery life would be great.
Are you on A.17 or C.21?
