Mi 9 ARB - Xiaomi Mi 9 Questions & Answers

Does a Mi 9 have anti rollback protection? when I check mine with fastboot it returns value 1. Also xiaomi.eu rom in the provided table says only few xiaomi phones are affected with ARB protection..

Then it is on the first version of ARP. Had the output from the command: "fastboot getvar anti" been blank then the installed rom had not been protected from rollback.
The rollback protection is in the firmware, not the phones hardware.

AntiRollback trigger if bootloader unlocked

Hi,
I have a question regarding the anti rollback feature. If anti rollback triggers while the bootloader is unlocked, will I be able to access fastboot or recovery (twrp), or will I have to go into edl via the test points?

After unlock bootloader, you can use Twrp or Fastboot easily.
There is no anti rollback for our phone.

So, both Mi 9T Pro and K20 Pro have no ARB?
Still, even if so, it might get introduced, so I wanted to know if I unlocked the bootloader, would I be safe from having to use test points to enter EDL in case it got triggered.

You can't flash roms yourself in edl mode. You will need to find someone with authorized account.

Recovering from botched MIUI 11 OTA on fake Global ROM Mi 9T Pro?

I ordered a "Global ROM Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro 12GB 512GB Exclusive Edition Smartphone Snapdragon 855 plus 4000mAh 48MP Triple Cameras 6.39'' on AliExpress (yes I know now it was mistake to get "Global ROM"...). Everything actually looked really good, Google Play store worked, device model showed up as "Mi 9T Pro", only thing I needed to do was lock bootloader for banking apps etc and everything has been working great.
At some point I was offered OTA update to MIUI 11, and I decided to install it last night. The install went until 65% and then the screen went black and the phone rebooted into the dreaded "The system has been destroyed" error. Now since my bootloader is locked I don't know how to recover from this - Mi Unlock Tool and fastboot both won't unlock, Mi tool wants me to add my account in developer options which of course isn't possible. I tried the "fastboot continue" method too with no effect. All I want is stock MIUI with locked bootloader and working OTA updates.
fastboot vars:
product: raphael
secure:yes
anti:1
board_version:4.9.2
hw-revision:20002
unlocked:no
Is EDL mode the only way to recover from this?
So you locked your bootloader and installed the OTA?
Unfortunately yes, bootloader was locked when OTA was installed.

Flash correct regional ROM through QPST/QFIL
You'll get a locked bootloader with OTA updates
Thanks for the response. It looks like QPST/QFIL only work if the device is already in EDL mode. Is there a way to boot to EDL without special cable / using motherboard test points? I tried fastboot oem edl and got "FAILED (remote: 'Oem edl command is not allowed Lock State')".
Following this Thread. Let me know If you get any Answer please mine stuck too and cant do aything and dont want to open my brand new device.

It doesn't work with Raphael.
So an update for those wondering. To fix this I had to use EDL mode and flash the original China ROM. It seems EDL cables do not work on this phone, so I had to open it up and use the test point method to boot into EDL mode. Even in EDL mode and using QFIL, there is still an authentication process on the phone itself, which requires an authorized Xiaomi account in order to load firmware. Obviously my own account does not have that authorization, so I paid $30 to one of those shady looking "unbrick" services. They remoted into my PC with UltraViewer (TeamViewer ripoff) and logged into their account and the flash succeeded.
Lesson learned... never lock the bootloader on this phone!

Did you go to the Developer Options first and selected the Mi Unlock? Also the OEM Unlock. Another reminder, MIUI 12.5 sucks and throws up the whole FASTBOOT. I had to downgrade my Redmi Note 9 (heh MediaTek dead) to 12.0.3 and then it worked.

Question Fastboot Miuiflash and anti rollback problem

I bought my device on 2021 June, I am currently on Android 11 PE+ and I lost L1 and I wanted to get back L1.
When I tried to flash miui from miflashtool, sweetin_in_global_images_V13.0.1.0.SKFINXM,sweetin_in_global_images_V12.5.10.0.RKFINXM I got anti-rollback error. Below is my anti version. Please help and I wanted to get L1 and move to A12 PE+.
C:\Users\ASUS>fastboot getvar anti
anti: 3
Finished. Total time: 0.003s

That might be something to do with Mi flash. Check the configuration menu of Mi flash tool and remove if anything is there. And also see if the fastboot rom that you downloaded has SET CURRENT ANTI=0(or something similar). This should do. And if you want L1 ,you might consider rooting as that makes sure safety net never fails.
