Google duo call connecting issues - Huawei P20 Pro Questions & Answers

I currently have a p20 pro locked bootloader connected to T-mobile carrier in the united states. I cannot connect to my family through google duo because the application is trying to use T-mobile's Vi-LTE service in an infinite loop. When calling, the receiver gets the call, however when they answer, google just says "loading video" forever. My family uses huawei mate 10 pro and huawei p20 pro. I can confirm this is the issue by disconnecting mobile data and going through wifi only. When I am connected to wifi and mobile data, a 4g icon appears next to the signal bar icon. Anyone else having this issue? Is there maybe a method to disconnect video over lte (Vi-LTE)??

If you're still seeing 4G then your WiFi won't be in use AFAIK.
Reboot your router, run a speed test from where you normally talk over duo. See what you're getting.
Do it over 4G too
Verify your APN make sure it's correct and there are no duplicate APNs in the list.
Or honestly, swerve duo and use WhatsApp mate, it's better quality from my experience.

T-Mobile US LTE Issues!

Hello,
I've searched the forums and haven't found an answer to this issue I'm having.
I have a Huawei P10 Plus VKY-L29 model and I'm having issues connecting to LTE on T-Mobile US. In areas where is it supposed to be LTE, the signal displays "4G+". I know there's the argument that 4G+ is LTE but then there's the problem where other people are on LTE and I will be on 4G in the same area. Also, whenever I make a call (whether on 4G or 4G+) before the call begins to ring, it will revert to nothing higher than 3G and then connect the call. This is an issue because my phone will also not receive calls unless 3G is available (which is not always the case) and will send the caller straight to voicemail and I will get no notification that they called unless they leave a voicemail. I assume this is a VoLTE (Voice over LTE) thing. I want to note that I do have the Virtual HD call move enabled in Dialer settings. There is no VoLTE setting in the device though. I was searching for the engineering code for Huawei devices in case there's a "LTE/4G/3G/2G" option that is not enabled but have not found one that works for this device.
My device is not rooted.
Please help!
Thank you!

You have to check your carrier whether they enable and support VOLTE for P10 plus. My carrier in my country only support few mobile devices for VOLTE and including P10. VOLTE is a service provide by carrier. Not phone. Hope it helps.

Huawei P20 pro dual sim CLT-L29: wifi calling works in the UK (Vodafone, EE, Three)

Not a question, but an FYI.
I bought the dual sim version (CLT-L29) of the Huawei P20 Pro in the UK, from clove.co.uk
FYI (hoping it’s useful to other people): I have tested it with the 3 major networks in the UK, and wi-calling works with all 3, even if the phone is an unlocked dual-sim version, not bought from the networks.
At least where I use it, Vodafone has the best indoors signal. Outdoors, Vodafone and EE are about the same. Three is by far the worst, both indoors and outdoors.
EE: I get no icon about wi-fi calling, neither in stand-by nor during a call, but I am sure wi-fi calling works because I managed to call while in an underground station, where there was wi-fi but not mobile signal.
Three: no icon that wi-fi calling is available, but the small text “wifi” appears when making a wi-fi call.
Vodafone: icons and notifications about wi-fi calling being available come and go multiple times. Sometimes I can get 4 notifications, with the phone vibrating, in 10 minutes. It’s very annoying. I had to go to setting -> apps -> more -> show system processes -> phone -> notifications -> wi-fi calling and disable all the options (display in status bar, etc.) to make sure I don’t get these continuous notifications. However, I tested wifi calling in an underground station, with a wifi connection but no mobile signal, and it worked.
In all 3 cases, I enabled wifi calling opening the dialler -> 3 vertical dots at the bottom right -> Sim 1 (or 2) -> wifi calling
Wifi calling was already enabled by default with EE and Three; with Vodafone, it was tricky: I tried enabling it from the Vodafone website and from the Vodafone android app, but it didn't work. What worked for me was the online chat with Vodafone's support, who enabled it on their end. Odd.
Another thing I noticed is that, on my old Samsung Galaxy s7 edge dual sim, only the sim which connects to the internet could have wifi calling. Here no, both sims can have wifi calling enabled at the same time.
Wait till your on Android 9, i deffo get a Wifi calling on this.
I didn't understand - what did you mean?

Question S21 Ultra on Verizon Constantly Switching Cell Networks

I've been banging my head against the wall with this issue for a while now. I have contacted both Samsung and Verizon but so far no luck in resolving the issue. I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing this.
My S21 Ultra on Verizon is constantly switching between LTE and LTE+. This wouldn't be an issue were it not for the fact that apparently a great deal of the time it actually has no connection at all. This manifests itself with:
1) Text messages that fail to send, or indicate they failed to send when they actually were sent.
2) Incoming calls going directly to voicemail.
3) Outgoing calls that can't be placed unless I toggle Airplane Mode on and then off. (Though as it turns out, sometimes the failed attempts do ring on the recipients phone.)
At some of these times I may see a message along the lines of "Sim Card Not Present." And yes--the SIM card has already been replaced.
3) isn't much of an issue, as I have complete control over that. But 1) and 2) are both really annoying.
I made a screen capture video for a Verizon tech who is trying to help. In 40 seconds my phone switched between LTE and LTE+ six times.
A work-around that seems to be helping is using the "Samsung Band Selection" app to pick a network. I've done that all day today and have not had issues, though I also have not traveled anywhere. I fear this is not a great solution, though, as I don't think I'll be able to use it when moving around.
Is anyone else having experiences like these with the S21 Ultra? If so, are you also on Verizon?
Thanks!

I was having the same issues. I was also seeing the device lose all network connection in an area with strong 4G. Verizon sent me a new s21u. That did not help. What I have been reading is that it has to do with 5G settings. Having a 5G sim card installed, the device is always looking for 5G. When it can't be located it defaults to 4G. During this process it seems to loose connection. Verizon in its wisdom removed our ability to access ALL the network settings, in particular the ability to select your preferred network type. It is automatically set to 5G. I installed the paid (donation) version of "Samsung Band Selection" from the play store. This allows access to the advanced network setting and allows you to select LTE under the Preferred Network Type. This seems to have fixed 99% of my connection issues.

Question 5G is always connected !

Hello
I have a problem with 5G network, it's always connected, but the speed is slow, so I download 3rd party app and I found that actually I'm connected to 4G network, but the crazy thing in navbar it's still 5G.
So the problem is : if you connected to 4G or 5G network, it will appear that you are connected to 5G network.
I used to have this problem also in Find X2 Pro.
Both of devices are Malaysian version .
Already contacted with OPPO and they say you must take backup and bring your phone to us.
Anyone facing this problem ?

If the 5G network is available in your area you will get a good speed.

Question Big issue, No Data during a call.

So One thing I discovered on this new phone of mine is that although working perfectly there is a major flaw in the way Internet data works during a phone call.
Any time you make a call, the phone downgrades the active signal from 5G/4G to H or E ( GSM).
Which in turns cuts off the data.
If I force 5G or 4G, then the phone call cannot be made. It just disconnects.
I have tried all settings, Volte enable/disable with no joy.
Some have said it's a carrier limitation, but it's not, cause in my iPhone, the very same simcard works just fine and the Internet is usable during a call.
Also tried with dual Simcard setup. As in the settings, the phone allows to use one simcard for data and one for call. Still not working.
Can someone please tell me if there is a solution please, or can you try your phone while on the call to see if Internet works as this feature is detrimental to me keeping the phone. If this doesn't work I will be selling the phone and getting a realme replacement.. Xiaomis sometimes suck with their non existent support.
Thanks

This comes from the operator who has not yet communicated with Xiaomi.
Same case with 2 operators on the same phone.
What version of rom?

Global ROM 13.0.4
I can't see an operator fault if they have Volte services enabled and this simcard works flawlessly on other android systems.
As a matter of fact, any SimCard i have tried, so far 3 providers and the phone does the same thing. As soonest the call is made it downgrades the signal to H while full 5G or 4G is available??

the operator must provide the necessary information for each brand and phone to activate Volte and Wowifi.
On my 11t pro everything works with SFR and nothing with FREE because Free has not yet transmitted the information necessary to activate the services.
So went to see the operator. They sell Xiaomi phones. 3 network ( Three EU)
The phones in the stores are working just fine, no issues at all. And my phone simply just isnt.I have tried every possible setting and still not working.
See the screenshot below. As I'm typing this I'm on a super fast full signal 5G connection. As soon as I make a phone call, the phone will downgrade to E or H+ which is horrible. This network signal switching is also laggy, and If 2g signal is poor I cannot even make a call.

Does the "Use VoLTE" switch appear in the SIM card settings?
If not you can try the Dialer Code *#*#869434#*#*. That only will make this switch appear, but sometimes this is enough. It should also show the little VoLTE-Badge next to the signal strength (see screenshot).

I just had another look and on your 1st post it says the SIM is named "3 IRL", as far as I know Three Ireland does not offer VoLTE at all.
So it will always drop to 3G/H+ or 2G/E ... on every phone.

5G connection should support this naturally. If I put this simcard Into an iPhone or Galaxy the 5G connection stays on regardless.
Anyway even with Vodafone this doesn't work,so I'm thinking it either a phone limitation or a phone is fooked

No, for VoNR your phone still needs the same configs as with VoLTE. Though only a few operators support VoNR as of now.
