Loose usb c charging port - Nubia Red Magic 3 Questions & Answers

I noticed on my brand new RM3 that when I connect the charging cable the cable sort of wiggles horizontally and vertically more than it did on my old nexus 6p, it just doesn't feel solid. Are you guy experiencing the same issue?

(Slightly) Different Micro USB Port??

So I have a cheap MicroUSB to USB Host dongle I have used with several of my phones and tablets, Including my SGS3 and Nexus7. It physically will not go into the port on the Note 2! I is like the little plastic flat pin thingy in the port is too wide for the slot inside the cable. I can't tell for sure. My other MicroUSB charge cables work fine, though. I don't get it.
It goes in part way but not fully connecting.
Kinda hard to see in this pic, but there seems to be an ever-so-slight difference in shape of the connector. Could have something to do with the cheap, generic quality of this adapter.
Update:
It's easier to see if you stack the Note 2 on another device so you have both ports next to each other. The plastic part that holds the USB pins inside the port (the "male" part if you will) is definitely wider than the one on the Nexus 7. May want to keep that in mind when ordering accessories. Does anybody have a confirmed-working MicroUSB to USB Host cable/adapter?
Hard to tell on my phone, but that black cable kinda looks like mini HDMI.

It's definitely MicroUSB and I have used it with my SGS3, Nexus 7, and several other devices. It just won't fit in my Note 2.
I have this cable and it works fine

I bought it to use with my broken Nexus 7 but worked seamlessly with my Note 2.
I upgraded to the Note 2 from an HTC EVO, and the EVO's charging cable would not fit in my Note 2. Blew my mind. It's the only micro USB that hasn't fit it so far.

Interesting. I upgraded from an EVO 3D and the "official" micro usb cable that came with my EVO 3D worked fine with the Note 2.
The Note 2 does seem to have a deeper socket which makes it so some micro USB cable won't stay put in the socket all that well because the part that grasps the tip is a tick deep in the socket.
to pass the time i took the 11pin micro USB plug apart...
heres how they get 11 pins into a 5 pin hole...

Note 2 usb cable that doesn't fall out?

I'm one of the many who has a Note 2 who's charging cable falls out VERY easily. A slight tug will pop it off and this is very worrisome during file transfers or flashing (!).
Can anyone recommend a micro-usb cable that fits more snugly into the Note 2? Preferably one longer than the stock cable. I know these exist since my car charger fits perfectly and doesn't fall out as easily.
I know a few of my motorola chargers fit much tighter than any of my sammy chargers. Might try one out. Sammy has always had issued with their charging ports. The thought of my old gnex port brings back bad memories.

I use the charger I had from my tab 10.1 and a blackberry USB cable for data transfer/charging.
It's not always the port on the phone that's the problem. My wife and I have the note 2 and she uses her factory cable and it's very loose. I use my old blackberry cable and it's almost too snug. You really have to tug on it to even get it to wiggle.

This isn't a cable issue, but a port issue and you should have the port replaced under warrant

If you look closely at the end of the cable it has 2 small tabs and if you lift those with say a razor blade or needle just a little they will keep the cable from falling out. Just lift them enough so as not to break them. When you insert the cable it will press them down as needed. Worked great for me.

Pebble Steel Charging Cable Fragile

After one month, the Pebble Steel charging cable head is broken. One of the two pins has snapped off.
Has anyone else experienced the fragility of this thing? If not, please be mindful of this vulnerability and store the cable away carefully to protect its pins.
Hi, I experienced this issue, but I found a work around to fix it. I basically transplanted a pin from another charger I had, cut i down and just jammed it i the missing pin slot and it works.
I can send you pictures if you want.

op3t charging port issues

anyone else noticed that the charging port of the oneplus3t is worse than the one of the onplus3?
i never had charging issues on the op3 since the 6 months i've used it. but on the op3t it started after a week that the cable sometimes disconects while using the phone. its very rare and hard to reproduce. mostly it happens when i didnt use the charger for a while.
ive also noticed that the op3 has a thicker connector inside the port. and the connection feels more comfy usong the same official cable. anyone else experienced this?
Never used a Oneplus 3 so don't have that frame of reference, but never had any charging port issue with the 3t in the last month that I have had it. The charging cable fits very solidly and tight and there's no way it' s coming off easily. Maybe you got a bum piece?
I've had both Oneplus 3 and 3t, didn't notice any difference.

Are you sure you are pushing the connector all the way in? It happened to me couple of times.[emoji41]

yes im sure
blowing inside the port fixes the issue but i never had to do this using op3. and if i look inside the ports i can see that the connector of the op3t is tinner. :/
and it fits as good as on op3 its pretty solid but not as solid as on op3

How Safe are Magnetic type C Cables?

I was wondering if using a magnetic cable and leaving the type C connector on your phone safe? Does it do any damage to the charging port leaving it in there so long?
While not usb-c, I use them for the kids on their phones and ipads (don't shoot me)
They work great for them as it ended the constant "It goes in straight not on an angle" argument.
The actual magnetic part at the end of the cable does get a little warm but nothing to bad.
Good luck
I have been using mag cables for 1 year in my note 7, and they are really convenient, I think that as a side bonus, they keep the port clean, free of dust and lint, also prevents wear off, So, only pros, no cons

I had one of those for my Note 4 and it's micro usb port. I loved it although it got hot. No more worries about accidentally yanking the charger out and damaging the port. Apple was on to something there I must admit.
