Snapchat video-stories can't be seen by IOS users - Xiaomi Mi 9 Questions & Answers

Hello, so i've used my MI9 for about 3 months now and i'm really happy with it. One issue that bothers me though is that ios/iphone users can't see my snapchat video-stories, however posting pictures to Mystory and sending a video privately to someone works. When they try to open it, it instantly skips/a frame of blackscreen and moves on to the next person in their list. Another friend of mine also has a Mi9 and it's the same issue for him. I'm using it pretty much all the time and would be fun to somehow find a fix (maybe something in camera app settings?). I belive it has something with screen ratio to do.
I'm on MIUI Global 10.2.13 STABLE
Thanks!

I have the same problem too! Would love to know if there is a fix for it.
I'm on stock rom too, I wonder if it has anything to do with it.

same, bump

I already posted this issue on the official Mi forum and they sadly don't seem to give a f..
https://c.mi.com/thread-2342342-1-0.html

I think problem got fixed upgrading to MIUI 11 9.10.10 by xiaomi.eu. Unlocked bootloader/rooted with magisk.

Still worthing buy the MI 5 in 2017?

Hello everyone!
So MI 6 is about to come in march 2017. I'm currently user of Nexus 5x and looking for a upgrade since the budget is limited, so I'm looking for a economic option.
I found an exchange with unboxed MI 5 with my nexus 5x. Should i buy MI 5 in 2017? Are you still satisfied with it or it should be better take a look for another phone?
Thanks in advance!
never had a phone with such excellent hardware and such poor software.
Every rom i tested had bugs bugs bugs. My cheapest android phone had better and mor stable software than all of the roms for MI5
Next phone will be definetly a hono 8 or somesthing like this
I have the model with 64gb and 3gb of ram, best phone for now. Personally I tell you to buy it, it's a good phone
I have 3gb 64gb version and I love it. I would say go for it:good:
Poor software? How? I didn't like MIUI but there are plenty of custom roms that work very well. For example LineageOS has very few bugs nowadays
If I compare this to my wife's Huawei... I would never change.
So, yes. The phone is still worth buying and custom Roms are developing all the time.
I have suggested this phone to my friends and they are also happy with it.
I bought the 64GB version about a month ago, coming from an Oppo Find 7 and I don't regret it. The hardware and the look and feel are excellent, the software is indeed not perfect, but the bugs are not that bad if you ask me.
I've only used MIUI since I got it, never had a Xiaomi phone before but I tried it on other phones and always kinda liked it. Currently I am on xiaomi.eu 8.1.6.0 and the only bugs worth mentioning that I found are:
- a touch problem, horizontal swipes are often detected as vertical, you have to be very accurate in your gestures, particularly when trying to remove notifications by swiping them.
- the microphone on wired headsets gets muted if you are on a call and you let the screen go to sleep while you talk . The issue doesn't happen when you lock the screen by pressing the button during the call.
Both issues are software-related because they do not occur on custom roms from what I've read.
One more thing is that it feels like the camera is let down by the software a bit. I isn't bad or anything like that, but it could've been better.

Custom Roms lots of them ??
:laugh::laugh::laugh:
as far as i can see, there are only 3 Roms: native chinese, eu version, CM14, All other Roms are based on CM14. And as far as CM14 has no dual Ringtones, and even Notification Light on missed calls is not working there is no alternative to Miui
Is notification light for missed calls a deal breaker? Oh my... You have big problems.
And there is AOSP?
Of course i'll choose LOS rather than miui. Quickreply is important. Btw imo this phone is still worth to buy in 2017. There maybe still some bugs in current custom roms. But, it's improving for sure from time to time

Black Screen Snapchat?

Hey everyone,
After taking the update to the closed beta OneUI for the TMO Note 8, my friends have been reporting my videos on Snapchat show up as a black screen. I tried downgrading from the beta Snapchat to regular Snapchat, and re-applying camera permissions as well.
I also noticed that Snapchat is aware of this issue for some users. It's just odd that it just started occurring for me.
What gives?
Not sure how to fix this issue... Besides the last resort, downgrading back to Oreo December Security Patch.
Thanks for any help and Merry Christmas Eve!
One word, beta.
Sent from my SM-N950F using Tapatalk
That is exactly the risk you must accept when trying beta version of any app or firmware, you in turn should send a report to the developer team, that is why betas are released, so the bugs or errors can be fixed, you just found something worth of a feedback
Yeah, I figured. Totally get that, I accept I accept! This is just one of the first times a bug is affecting my personal use case and I can't seem to fix it myself. I'll just stick to pictures until it gets ironed out. Thanks guys!

Question Root?

I wonder, if anyone already rooted their SWEET?
Found this article https://www.getdroidtips.com/root-redmi-note-10-pro/
Or does anyone found another soloution?
Not yet, received mine today
Btw will warranty be void if rooted? Never had a Xiaomi phone
It does matter, in which country you're living. In the EU you don't will lose warranty even if you root your phone.
I haven't, because i still need a few more days to feel how the oficial rom performences. But in a couple of days, i'm going to try a lot of "testings" .Even so, i'm still trying to understand a litle more about whats the compatibility between 10 and 10Pro roms/firmware.
I am quite confident with the original rom. But I am also looking forward to custom roms. But the camera has to work. I had the S21 Ultra before, pls don't laugh, but the camera of the note 10 pro isn't that worse.

Question Should I buy a redmi note 10 pro?

Hello, everyone. I'm hoping to join the redmi note 10 pro community very soon. However, I'm really confused whether I should invest in it because most of the reviews on Youtube are saying that there is always bugs. I was just wondering if any of you could tell me whether most of the bugs have been fixed by now. I just want to know if it is at least usable. It's got literally every feature I want. All I need to know is how is the software holding up. I've seen that even the Redmi note 10 is more stable than note 10 pro. I really hope that's not true.
Thanks in advance.
In my experience with it, which would be a few weeks now... I have not had any problems with it, as I am not what you would describe as a "power user".
All basic features which you would expect a mid-range smartphone to have, work perfectly.
This is all from my experiences, and my opinion. Hopefully someone else on here can also comment their thoughts.
I bought it one week ago: Only really bad thing is the AOD (better: NOT always on display). Furthermore, I didn't mention a single bug till now. So if you can deal without a AOD (there is a hack around, but it will suffer much from battery), buy it, really nothing wrong with it.

If you use your phone to connect to your car then please DO NOT BUY this phone. Android Auto does not work, irrespective of which region ROM you flash ,Seems to be an issue with the MIUI 12.5 and i am hoping this to be resolved with Android 12, but its JUST a hope.
Buy only if you're going to flash custom ROMs. Otherwise samsung can be a better alternative.
Thank you guys for replying so soon!

Android Auto is totally unheard of where I live xD. But yeah, I don't have a car so I can live with that. Honestly, though it's annoying that such a big company can't manage to fix the bugs on such a popular phone like this.
Regardless, I think I'll actually buy this phone cos it's got literally every feature you could ask for, including Dolby sound. I'm coming from a bloody Huawei P smart 2018 so literally any phone I buy will be great right now

I do have experience flashing custom ROMs but it was really bad. Every ROM I flashed had some kind of weird issue like WiFi wasn't working or GPS had issues and even the sound quality became worse.
Did you face any issues like these with your ROMs?

No such issues. We just need to find the right ROM.
No issues at all using CrDroid for "normal" use.

I'm glad to hear that! I have watched many reviews, especially the ones after 60 days or 120 days and literally everyone said they faced this bug or that bug. The bugs itself are not always same but there is always bugs.
Anyway, I might actually end up buying it!
what about the proximity sensor issue ? Is it fixed when using custom roms ?
This phone rocks
Plenty of nice ROM depends of what you want.
Android Auto is working like a charm for me, battery is perfect and 0 bug, using Arrow OS. I'm really glad that i switched for this phone few months ago.

Not for me sadly, very buggy in WhatsApp with AOSP Extended,
I think this is the most popular mid-range phone going around. Its reviews are great. I had Redmi Note 10 which was a budget masterpiece, had an insane battery life. This one surely will be better overall as its the pro model. I think in its budget this one is worth it.

General MIUI 13 global is just MIUI 12.5

So i just finished updating to MIUI 13 global on my supposedly new Xiaomi 11T Pro. Only to find out that it basically doesn't bring anything new. Literally nothing apart from that completely useless side bar.
The biggest new feature that Xiaomi was hyping everyone with is the new widgets. We'll they're missing. Nothing but the old 2009 looking widgets.
Even Android 12 features like color palettes thems are not included..
I means what's the point of this update. 3.5 gigabytes of update to instal a stupid side bar and some ugly wallpapers.
I'm really disappointed in this phone and in Xiaomi overall. Too bad it's a new phone that i can not change right now. But my next smartphone will definitely not be from Xiaomi.
Sadly i was a fan of this company and their business model. Now they're just taking us for fools.
500 euros phone doesn't get the features that 150 euros phones are getting from the same damn company. What is this.
I'll be going back to Samsung after all.
Have a good one fellas
I also think that 11t pro will be my first and last xiaomi phone, hardware is fine but software side of things is realy bad, im coming from oneplus2 as my last phone and software on that device was better i hope that lineageos will be available for 11t pro also
I'm the same, I've reported a bug and even how to fix it regarding Wi-Fi calling support in the UK (have had the fix on my personal device for a couple of months and it works perfectly but of course just for me) and it really requires Xiaomi to update their modem code. Every Qualcomm device they sell has the bug on EE in the UK due to bad config settings. Despite using the feedback tools months ago, raising it in their official forum which seems to be nothing more than PR management, the bug isn't fixed, and the file I linked to with details of the config settings hasn't been opened by anyone let alone Xiaomi. So just ignored.
They have far too many devices to be able to issue decent software on any of them as they can't have the resources to deal with them all.
Hardware is good, basically Qualcomm reference design with decent screen and camera, but the software is poor and support just doesn't exist.
I will not buying another one of their products ever again.
