Thank you for your replay. I'm trying to stream an audio clip through the system on voice call. Means when I am in phone call talking to someone, I can play a short audio clip that can be heard by the other party too. The project is for personal purpose, it means only me that can be using that option, so I can root my device or make a custom rom, I just need to know how i can do that things
Thank you

you shouldnt need root to have an apk play audio at the push of a button while on a phone call at the same time

I also search for this feature.
The best would be, if it would be possible to play internal Audio directly via the Voice-Uplink (this is the Audio which goes to the other person), and the Speaker.
Is it possible to Mix the Voice-Uplink Channel, to contain the Microphone input (the Voice) and the Media Audio-Channel?
(That's like the "Stereomix" on Realtek Audio-Cards on PC https://www.google.com/search?safe=...i29i30j0i10i30j0i10i203j35i362i39.7TvHA0zwoeQ)

this is what i was expecting android to do automatically, and in many cases it does it seems. I was reading about this a bit last night and saw where people were indeed able to play something on the speaker of their phone and have the very same phones mic and play on the phone call for both parties to be able to hear. It was a native in the phones where users reported this ability. It was even reported to work on some older samsung phones. I still have a S4 and could test it out, if i remember to do it (my license plate says IFORGOT). @AthieN this is the thread i was talking about

So basically, they told me that they used to record uing Tinyalsa library (tinycap exactly), but they couldn't do it with samsung S10, when I search I found that there is not tinyalsa included in that phone. So I was wondering if I can add it directly to the system or I have to make own rom for that ?
I hope @AthieN can give us hint on that. Thank you both of you for your help

Sorry for the late reply. This used to be possible, but not since API 20 or 21 due to security concerns.

Two Steps Away From A Perfect Tilt

Well at least in my eyes anyway... I have almost the perfect setup for me running Sleuth's 3.0 WWE Rom and radio 1.64.08.21 with MSVC 1.6 and if I could just get it to do two more things it would be perfect. Crazy thing happened today, so I know the first wish must be able to be achieved. I'm sitting in the airport waiting for a flight watching my mobile slingbox with the audio coming out of the internal speaker and I have my bluetooth headset on waitng for calls to come in. Sure enough a call comes in and MSVC starts to announce the caller, but also starts playing the audio from my slingbox. "What I say how is this possible?" I'm just using a cheap Jabra headset that I got from Verizon as a matter of fast it says Verizon on it and not Jabra. The headset works perfectly with MSVC 1.6 announcing callers and everything else, but I didn't think it was possible for it to allow audio from music or streaming video such as mobile slingbox. Well it did during that incoming call, so does this mean it is possible to listen to audio through this bluetooth headset? If anyone knows what I need to do to be able to listen to music and streaming video/audio please let me know. That is wish #1.
Wish #2 is the ability to use a app. that will allow me to respond to text messages via voice, I guess some type of speech to text app. that I can speak into my bluetooth headset and it will type out the words to respond. I've found it very difficult to respond to my text messages traveling 80mph down the road and I also don't think it is very safe. So I'm not sure if wish#2 is possible, but I thought I would come here and ask.
So that being said the two above wishes would complete the coolest device that I have ever owned in my 42 years of life. If you can help a old man's wishes come true please let me know.
Thanks in advance,
JMan

Or
Or you could just buy a bluetooth stereo/voice headset. I forgot how to phrase the name of this. But I use the tritton bluetooth stereo caller id headset and it works good.

The only time I get the error you got is when my headset isn't turned on and linked to the phone. Remember also that the toggle is a toggle, the connection breaks when something else interrupts the audio, like a phone call. You must toggle it off then back on (or use BTaudioOn).
Hey thanks guys my first wish has come true and I'm now able to listen to my slingbox through my BT headset and also listen to music! Thanks again foe that.
As for wish #2, it looks like it is not possible, I been reading many post from 2004 until today and it looks like our devices just don't have the power to run a speech to text program with what we have today. I guess I'll just keep on wishing.

I don't know of a speech-to-text program specifically but I would not say it isn't possible. Cyberon and MS both have speech recognition in their Voice Command products. I also have Windows Live that allows me to speak a location to get directions.
All of these apps run on TYTNII and do not require voice training to work. They are not perfect, but they do work. Hence, it should be possible to do what you ask. But no one has done it yet?

Call Recording problems on X1 HELP!!!

Hello everyone,
can not say that it is like "to live or not to live" but still important, and i belie not only for me.
I have tried a lot of different call recording software for WM.
The problem is that during call recoding it just records the microphone, but not the dynamic.
It just works like simple Voice recorder.
Most advanced I think was the tool from Resco. It has even the input device list in which I've chosen "Cellular Line" but still... no result.
I even have few times changed the firmware
I'm interested:
1) If it's only in my phone and you did not experienced such problem on yours
2) You guys can do the miracle ???

I can't do the ICR as well.
However, many of the people in the forum said they can...
I am wondering how as well.
I think this is not software, this is hardware problem. Something with laws reasons. Anyway, no program to able to write sound from hardware speaker.
Another way to use that programs - try to use recording with BT hendsfree.

I just tried your method, it seems that it actually records passively via the vibrations from the speaker to the mic, or via the actual output from the speaker. Recording in a silent environment I can barely hear the person on the other end even at max volume.
I guess this option isn't really a working solution.
At this point it does make me think that there are hardware differences between X1s we have...
I am using X1i made in Y09W03, which I can't get the ICR to work...
Can those who make ICR work state their model and manufacture date as well?
Thanks
For a start, there may be some confusion here, some are using simply the notes application which can be accessed by menu (right softkey) during call and then record a sound in new note. Other it seems are using a recording software.
That being it, it is so unlikely, that it is nearing impossible that there would be hardware differences in the phone causing such significant difference in functionality. They have a specification to keep.
That being said, the cases describedas working I would put down to a difference in opinion on what "working" is considered to mean exactly.
P.S. X1i UK Y08W52
How about BTHF?
I heard some people had claimed that they can record both streams through BTHF... ark... things getting confusing: but I just want ICR on my X1, for the best I just pick up the phone to record all the in call voices, or using the HF comes with X1, or the worst BTHF (which I dont have one right now).
Just to keep you updated:
BTHF - No Good.
In Mobile01, some users claimed that if you use plastic "jelly" type protection case, it will help you divert the other parties' voices from the earpiece to the microphone, which in case help the ICR.
I am looking into issues and possibilities from the threads in Touch HD to make ICR work with Xperia X1.
I just freakingly hate it when people make false claims. That in any other way doesn't help but rather contribute to confusions.
Firstly, you can't even say that it records voice calls simply because the extreme silenced environment enables the mic to hear the whispers coming from the earpiece of the phone. Or saying that you just have to turn on the speaker phone while on record.
That definitely isn't a way a developer would do to claim anything about recording voice calls.
I'm sure you guys have other phones rather than PPCs say later nokias and later SEs perhaps. Whenever someone is calling you, you can simply press softkey and press record, and it will record the conversation and "stop recording" whoever hangs up first which doesn't happen to notes-recording.
Reviewing the recorded message is simply just as clear as having two people on phone patch just like our President's phone patch scam.
Dude, by far this thing DOESN'T record voice calls as I have tried to search. These claims are just workarounds. And If this do ever record voice calls, then you wouldn't even have to search the whole damn features finding where the record button is. Simply put.
>>MrLeche
Thanks for your comments, but the fact is that the recent Touch HD movements have granted us some hopes. People in Taiwanese forums are making use of the patch to apply on various of HTC phones and got positive results - therefore this has given some people, at least the stupid me, to do some further testing and research before closing the issue prematurely.
Did everyone just give up or did someone find the "cure" and I missed it?
I have tried everything possible but have not been able.
Just out of curiosity is this possible:
I have seen a program that diverts the sound from the speakerphone to the earpiece for use with skype. Could a virtual device be created to emulate a speaker, have sound diverted to the virtual device then to the real earpiece or speakerphone? This would allow the virtual device to send the sound from the other party to the recorder and hence record both sides of the conversation.
Maybe the above makes no sense but just wondering.
If anyone has been able to record both sides of the conversation at reasonable volume levels on an X1, I am interested in finding out how.

[Reward] $125 Challenge to the community: Fix the infamous "audio lag" problem

[Reward] $125 Challenge to the community: Fix the infamous "audio lag" problem
Several HTC devices have a very annoying problem. When you playback audio, periodically (usually once every 5 minutes) you will hear a short "skip" in the audio. The sound has been described as a lag/skip/hiccup/tick/blip. It's all the same problem, though.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=412065
Whatever standard solution you can think of, it has been tried and failed (post to the above thread if you have a new novel suggestion). The problem appears to be deep in the wave device driver or possibly the hardware wave device itself. The problem does not seem to be present in A2DP. If you have skipping with bluetooth headphones, it's probably not related.
It seems to affect (at least), the Diamond, Touch Pro, HD, and XPeria. Possibly more.
There is a work-around (sort of), however. Some (newest?) versions of HTC's Audio Manager application (the TouchFlo player) ON SOME ROMS (not all) uses a non-standard method for playing back audio via DirectShow. These new versions do not skip, or at least do not skip on the regular five minute interval (it has been reported that some files don't play well through the Audio Manager for other unrelated reasons). However, this does not help the dozens of third party audio players.
I have asked HTC to provide documentation on how they did it. They refuse to respond, sending me a form email saying "we cannot support third party applications."
Conduits (makers of PocketPlayer) have told me they will implement the work around if somebody can figure out how to make it work. Their attempts to reverse engineer Audio Manager discovered this non-standard way, but when they wrote a test application, the skip problem was still present. So there is definitely more to the skip than simply sending audio via DirectShow. However, I think they are on the right track. It's just a matter of further reverse engineering Audio Manager until we get it right!
The Challenge!
The first community member to successfully create a very simple program to demonstrate lag-free audio playback (with full source code open sourced so that anybody else can use the method) will receive a pool of money from donators following this thread. I will personally chip in $15 US. I hope others will make commitments too (post below if you will)! When the solution is confirmed to work and can be replicated by third parties, I will send my donation via paypal and will post in this thread where everybody else should send their donation. If you make a commitment, you better donate!! lol. It likely won't be a whole lot of money, but I figure we have to reward the hard work at least a little!
To help you get started, here is the relevant information from the email conversation I had with Conduits where they explained to me what they found while reverse engineering Audio Manager.
We have done extensive tests regarding the HTC audio skipping issue, and have come to the conclusion that it is not something that Conduits can address. After analyzing the HTC Audio Manager program, and several other files (such as HTC’s DirectShow Audio Renderer HTCRenderFlt2.dll and HTCADXRenderer4.dll), we found that both are making some very special system calls into the WaveOut driver.
Here are some technical details for what we have found. First, we don’t think that thread or process priority have anything to do with the problem. Normal audio application use a cycle of ‘waveOut buffers’ that keep the audio output ‘full’ with audio data for the system to pull from and play. Applications use standard waveOutWrite functions to fill these buffers. From Pocket Player’s standpoint, these buffers are always full, and adjusting the priorities won’t affect this. One way to improve audio skips (that has affected the HTC TyTN) was to boost the thread priority of the WaveOut driver by editing a registry value under HKLM\Drivers\Builtin\WaveOut. This approach did not work here. Interestingly enough, these skipping problems occur on desktop PC’s. There, the problem is related to realtime drivers that take “too long” in their processing, which prevents the audio driver from processing the next batch of sound. This happens in Vista with some MacBook drivers.
The Audio Manager uses a different output mechanism from the standard waveOut calls – it uses the DirectShow audio renderer filter, which is another way to send audio. Looking in the internals of how it works, it is using a completely different mechanism. It is using a proprietary waveOutMessage call to open a new message queue, which audio is then “streamed” through.
Pocket Player (and other applications) could possibly resolve this issue by using the HTC Audio Renderer instead of their own waveOut routines, but then we would lose crossfading and other Pocket Player –specific features. We did some initial tests of creating a DirectShow filter graph (complete with their Audio Renderer) but still experienced the skipping, so there must be additional steps.
As a result, Conduits is now regarding this as a device-specific problem that the manufacturer is obligated to fix. Alternatively, if HTC wants to document their special “streaming mode” for their audio output driver, we could look into adapting to that model.

Click to collapse
If you extract the Wavedev.dll from a ROM, you will see countless debugging messages regarding “MP3 Streams” and the like, indicating an entirely separate audio path for music coming from their software. If need be, we will rewrite our WaveOut output plugin (our output routines use a private plugin architecture just like our other plugin types) that uses the DirectShow output.

I SAW! I just downloaded and will report back if it works with PocketPlayer. So far, people are saying it does. If it's true, I'm happy that HTC has finally acknowledged (let alone fixed) this issue!
EDIT: SCREWED THE OS ON MY SPRINT TOUCH PRO. Won't boot after installing. Please be sure to have a recent backup. Glad I did. I think it may not be CDMA compatible. :-( :-( But if somebody can somehow reverse engineer this sucker and make a CDMA version (or if HTC does), that would be awesome.

Making nokia headset controls work with SGS - possible?

I have a nokia remote (AD-54) and was wondering if it could be possible to make it work with SGS with some software mod, or is it physically impossible? It's a nice remote with 3.5 socket, allowing me to plug in my own headphones, and would be great for controlling music playback (cause with just the touch screen it's a pain really). The mic on this remote works fine with SGS as far as I've read, but the controls don't.
www.rolmobile.es/tienda/images/hs45-ad54_312X312.jpg
And, if it's not possible, do you know of any wired remote with 3.5 socket and music controls that works with SGS?
Cheers.
Ditto - I would love a remote for my headphones to control the music player as well.
Nokia might work...
I went ahead and bought one of these.... it does not work out of the box, sound is not output correctly.
What does work is switching the phone into TV out mode. In TV out mode the sound is right. However I can't get the buttons to work at all.
When the phone is not in TV out mode then the headphone socket output is different and non-Nokia compatible. I don't know if that means iPhone accessories work or not.
Its a hardware limitation. I very much doubt the SGS is designed to receive input, apart from microphone streams, through the headphone socket.
Nokia handsets know there is another bit or byte or what ever it is coming through which in turn activates a function. SGS doesn't. The way the Nokia headset is designed, it really only works with Nokias, even to give or accept sound as an output/input.

Of course it doesn't. I'd have posted that the attachment worked if it did.

The way the Nokia headset is designed, it really only works with Nokias, even to give or accept sound as an output/input.

That's bollocks too. It outputs sound just fine. The question which you've not answered is if the SGS can "see" the signal generated when a button is pressed on the Nokia remote. You don't know the answer so why are you trying to answer the question with "It's a hardware limitation.". All you have done in your post is guess the answer as no. I'd guess it was a no too, but I don't know either, which is why I'm asking.
On forums it just clutters things up and adds useless content to a thread if people who don't know the answer try to answer it by making it up. I appreciate you're trying to help, but unless you know the answer to the question then you're not helping at all.
You can use alternative music players like Tunewiki or Cube. They can play the next song by pressing the headset button twice
Device like this one uses the Mic connection for remote
http://pinoutsguide.com/HeadsetsHeadphones/blackberry_9700_headset_pinout.shtml
it *looks like the two are inverted for the SGS (and you have a function for "PushButton")
http://pinoutsguide.com/HeadsetsHeadphones/samsung_galaxy_headset_pinout.shtml
Altough this one states that it is the same
http://pinouts.ru/HeadsetsHeadphones/nokia_handsfree_pinout.shtml
and we know that nokia's TV-Out are working.
For the buttons to work, the OS has to understand the same command as on the nokia, is it responding to anything when you push the buttons?
Remember that enabling TV out mode changes the pinout of the phone.
In "normal" mode with a Nokia control adapter in sound is not correct.
In TV out mode with a Nokia control adapter sound is correct.
In neither case do the Nokia buttons do anything - Play/pause, stop, fwd, rwd, vol+, vol-.
I'm sure the phone is only Nokia compatible when TV out is enabled. In this mode we don't know if..
1) The hardware of the phone can receive a signal from the buttons.
2) The firmware of the phone allows this to be passed to the software.
3) Software can use this input for media players.
Outside of Nokia mode, I don't know the answer to the pinouts.
Of the three pinout links you posted... http://pinoutsguide.com/HeadsetsHeadphones/samsung_galaxy_headset_pinout.shtml seems to be verified. There are three posts saying it's incorrect, but they simply say that the left and right channels are reversed. It's implied from that then that the other aspects are correct.
I think since we're no further forward it wouldn't be a total waste for me to go ahead and get one of the iPhone control adapters off eBay and see what the result is?

Oh wait, you're just guessing you don't know if it's a hardware limitation or not - and you're wrong.
Thanks for that exact explanation.

I try to help and you insult me? You are clearly a dunce. Ill stay out of your thread.
I was making a guess based on what is known. The hardware inside the SGS is different to the nokia. That link posted above proved the pinout is different thus proving what I said to be correct, its a hardware limitation. What the Nokia headset sends out as a signal is not going to be received by the SGS.
Kindly get bent and refrain from posting your useless crap. Unless you work for Samsung or Nokia as a hardware engineer or they release the information, or you've spent time following the circuit of the phones, you will too be making a guess.
In non tv mode the sound works fine for me. Are u sure you have a real Nokia ad54. A couple of the fakes I got off eBay don't work correctly. If u have a real one the sound works fine for music/books and when u get a call the sound will also work.

I cannot be sure if I have a real one or a fake. Music sounds ok when it's not in TV out mode, but some parts are missing on some tracks. I'm guessing I'm hearing left or right channel only on both sides - but I'd need to find a file to test that with to be sure.
The one I got looks exactly like the one at the top of this thread. It came without the headphones. It even had the cable tie wrapped in the same way.
Argh! I've just done a left/right channel test... and in normal and in TV out mode the left and right channels are separate and correct. It turns out the AD-54 I have has a slightly dodgy connection.
The test I used is here - http://www.wooferbasstest.com/left-and-right-channel-verification-audio-systems/sound-effects.html if that's any use to anyone.
So after taking a complete wrong turning... apologies... back to what t1mman was saying...
There is no response at all from the Nokia buttons. I've even made sure I'm wiggling the wires about while I do it with both the device switched to the in position and the off position. As I'm still not convinced though I wouldn't mind lgkahn's input on it - Do the buttons work in any way for you on the AD-54?
We know at this stage then that the Samsung and the Nokia both use the same channel (ring2) (my rusty electrical knowledge tells me that it is not possible to use ground?). However the SGS is either incapable of seeing the Nokia signals, or is not looking for them so ignores them... I think that's the summary of where things are.
Going forward from here I think there's no point in trying a iPod pushbutton thing - so unless someone has a different opinion I won't bother getting one off eBay.
It would be interesting for someone who knows more about the phone itself to let us know if it's even conceivable to try to see if the phone is seeing a signal, because if it is seeing a signal then perhaps it could be taught to respond to it? I'm way out of my depth there.
Other than that though, it seems to me that the Nokia device serves no purpose, and the only way to pause/play music is to use an app that pauses/plays when the headphones are disconnected.
hi, i guess that this approach is dead isnt?
I want to know the same..

Can CC audio be played to a different device?

I am trying to get the audio from my CC with GTV to play to another source. My preference would be to cast the audio from CCGTV to another Google speaker because that would be the most elegant solution. But I do not think this is possible. I know you can include the Chromecast in a speaker group but as far as I can tell that is only so the same audio can play from your speakers and your TV simultaneously.
The other option that could work is to pair an external speaker with CCGTV via bluetooth. But according to this thread this is not a great solution because you have to forget and then re-pair the speaker every time. The thread has nearly 150 upvotes but Google closed it a month ago. There was no solution to this issue at the time but I wonder if the recent firmware update made bluetooth connections more stable?
Shortly after posting this I discovered that you can access the Play store directly on the Chromecast. I wonder if there is an app I could install that would let me cast audio from the CC to a Google speaker?

I am not experiencing any issues with using my UE Megaboom as an external BT speaker on our CCwGTV. No need to forget and re-pair it every time, I just switch on CC, switch on speaker and they connect automatically.

How long have you been using the bluetooth speaker this way? Have you tried any other BT speakers prior to the Megaboom?

Hmm, let's see...I think we started using it regularly around maybe end of Jan/beg of Feb? Might be related to the latest system update that was rolled out in Feb, but not sure on that.
Haven't tried other speakers yet, since this is our go-to big boy for sound. If you want I can try my BT headphones and our smaller Xiaomi BT speaker to check and see on their functionality with Sabrina.

Yes, please. I would really appreciate that. If possible, leave the bt device powered on and turn the cc off for several hours before turning the cc back on. This is my use case, the bt speaker will always be on and I need cc to connect to it right away when it is turned on.
Thanks in advance!

Any update on this?
I'm really surprised that you aren't having to re-pair your speaker every time. I discovered two more threads on reddit where people complain about this happening to them to. I have a feeling you are the exception rather than the norm:

Haven't forgotten about this yet, gonna have a look this weekend with the different speaker / headphone.
Last night I was watching a show with my lady via the CC and I switched on our UE Megaboom to connect. I forgot to switch off my phone's BT (had them paired before for workout), so they connected automatically.
I then switched off my phone's BT and also restarted the speaker, it automatically paired with the CC without us having to go into settings.
btw @"norm" vs. "exception": hope you are aware that you would most likely only find threads of people who have troubles with this others without issues are less likely to post and are thus far less visible.
edit: by the way, i noticed one big difference between your experience and the two threads you posted vs. my case: we are using the CC with a computer monitor without in-built speakers. so could be that CC somehow detects those inbuilt speakers and resets to a default that routes audio automatically to the inbuilt system.

Thanks for the update. I don't know why sometimes I have brain damage and didn't think about how easily I could have tested all of this out myself with a pair of BT headphones.
Anyway, if you are an "exception" than I am too because I tested with my headphones and they paired up every time without any problem. So then I used the bluetooth dongle that I want to use with my AV system and it works fine too. I have turned the CC off and on multiple times and it connects every time, plus I have zero audio delay like many others reported.
Solution achieved.
hmmm....so then what was different with your speaker?
