I planned to use Mi 9T Pro. As we know, Amoled screen had an issue called "Burn In/Shadow". Should I worry about this?

There's no burn in. While earlier OLED models had some issues regarding burn in, now the majority of flagships and even midrange devices have OLED panels and no burn in occurs.
There isn't too much protection needed to be fair. Even after years of usage you will not encounter any burn in. You mostly see burn in on panels that display the same thing for a very long time, meaning the pixels don't shut down or display other colors (e.g. TVs that run the same channel for a very long time).
There is protection on the Always on display. You'll notice the clock and notifications switch from one place to another every few minutes to avoid displaying the same pixels.
Burn in should be the least of your worries.

When i went to their retail shops i saw that most the 9t models they had on display had visible burn - in marks on the screen, this made me reluctant to buy the phone and i dont know what to think.

Don't worry about burnin unless you do something silly like increasing the display sleep time to half an hour or always keeping it in an unlock state. Use dark mode, 2 min timeout max, will be fine.
For every phone I've owned with an LCD/OLED display, I've experienced none. Yet when I use other people's phones of the same model, they have burn-in.
[Edit]
The only difference between me and others is that I always dim the screen. Never use on high brightness, unless in the sun.

Hi,
I want to buy something with a 6"+ diagonal with a 16:9-ish AR to replace my dying Zenfone 2. Since nowadays every new phone is released with an 18:9 AR, which is no upgrade from my current 5.5" phone, I have to look at older models. Currently I've almost decided on a Mi Mix.
There is a Mi Mix review on GSMArena, it has some negative points that I'd like to hear a second opinion about before I make my decision.
* IPS LCD: apparently quite bad outside. I can barely see my Zenfone 2 IPS screen in rather cloudy conditions, at max luminosity. Is the Mi Mix screen that bad outside? (I've seen an S8+ under direct sunlight and it was bright as if inside, right next to my Zenfone 2's litterally black screen, but well, amoled is amoled )
* No MicroSD slot: The USB 2 on my Zenfone 2 is very slow, and every time I want to load a few gigs of video of flac files I remove the MicroSD and use an USB3 adapter on my PC, it is way faster this way. Is the Mi Mix Type-C port USB 3 ot two?
* "Our review unit acquired a few scratches on top of its display in the first three days even though we were extra careful in handling it". Ew. Is it really that bad? I've used screen protectors on my older phones but you always see there is one and it is quite distracting. I've had my Zenfone 2 without a protector film in my pant pockets with loose change and keys, and the Gorilla Glass is spotless after 3 years of that. I was intending to do the same with the Mi Mix, but if it won't last a week at a 400-500€ price, I'll look elsewhere.
Thanks.

Hi, according this:
https://www.devicespecifications.com/es/model/9dda3f3d
The USB port is 3.0 in the Mi Mix. I have the 256G version and so neved missed the SD card slot.
As for the display visibility outside there is a thread in this forum about this. My personal experience is that the visibility is not so good when facing the sun directly, but I have a glass screen protector that may be worsening it.
Sounds good, thanks guys. One last thing: since it transmits sound by vibrating the top part of the screen, do other people really hear your conversations? I am reading conflicting opinions on the subject. I suppose that it may be the case in a small and quiet room, but I guess that in the street, in the subway or the train, there is enough ambient noise to counter this?

It's the 128gb version
One more thing. It's probably a stupid question, but here goes. One reviewer said that since the Mi Mix' screen is not a standard 16:9 resolution, it will display "standard" content with black bars. Fair enough, I see no way around this anyway. But then he added that native content shot with the Mi Mix will make full usage of the near bezel-less screen. This got me thinking... I suppose the camera does have native and standard 16:9/4:3 modes, doesn't it? I don't want to have to process all my photos and videos every time so they fit onto 16:9 screens without black borders.
Also, if the stock camera app can do that, what of the one that comes with Lineage OS?
Camera app has 4:3 and 16:9, no worries.
Hi
By coincidence I've recently replaced my aging Zenfone 2 ZE551ML with a Mi Mix 6/256: rest assured you won't be regretting the ZF2
The missing SD card is a non-issue, considering the 'minimum' configuration of the Mix provides you with 128GB of storage..
Screen visibility in full daylight is more than adequate for me, and anyway much better than the ZF2 screen. I find the Mix has a better, clearer display somehow.
Can't vouch for the Mix screen resistance, but I've put a cheap glass screen protector on it. Sure it's a tad smaller than the Mix screen - for some reason they don't seem to make properly sized screen glass - but good enough for the time being.
I think you'll appreciate the difference between the two devices, as I did.
PS: have a better look to the ZF2 screen: you'll find lots of small scratches - mine had them, to be sure.

A quick mini-review for people who might stumble upon this thread with the same concerns that I had. I got the 6/256G variant.
* IPS LCD: way more luminous that the IPS on the old Zenfone 2, so no problem with this. Also, even though the MiMix is larger with the same resolution as the ZF2, it looks sharper.
* No MicroSD slot: while USBTreeView does not show "SS" (super-speed, allegedly USB3) but only "H" (High speed, allegedly USB2), the transfer speed is definitely USB3.
* Scratches: I don't know what the GSMArena reviewers were doing to the phone, or maybe their model had a different screen coating, but after a week in my pants pocket together with some loose change, the screen does not have a single scratch.
* Phone sound: The handset produces a clearly worse sound quality, but this screen vibration does not let other people hear your conversation.
* The stock camera app is kind of garbage-y. No stabilisation. You can change "Camera Frame" from 16:9 to 4:3, and "Picture Quality" between High/Standard/Low, but nowhere did I find figures like "4608x2592 (16:9, 11.93MP)" that free apps like "Open Camera" will show you.
Extra stuff:
* If you are planning to flash the phone right away, be ready to waste 3 days of your life being unable to install and config your phone. The Mi Mix has a locked bootloader, you have to ask Xiaomi for the permission to unlock the device that belongs to you. This part is done quickly though, but then you will have wait 72 hours upon receipt of the permission e-mail until their flashing software allows you to do the actual unlocking.
* It comes with MIUI 8 (Android 6), and no apt-x. If you have good headphones like the Sennheiser Momentum M2, the difference will be huge.
* I was intending to install Lineage OS for the apt-x support. After flashing I figured it did not have the official Google Play app (big duh! moment ). Not willing to risk using an ersatz then fight with compatibility issues (I have quite a few official paid apps), I flashed MIUI 9 Global beta (Android 7.1.2). Even though by itself MIUI 8 and 9 are rather rubbish (if I didn't want an app drawer I'd have bought an iphone ), with the Nova Launcher it works fine. And it has apt-x too.
Overall I am quite happy with the purchase so far.

good to know.. thanks for that..
Well not impressed. The width is a little nicer buts that's about all. I liked the lcd screen better and the screen ratio. No game suite on US version? Sideways HUAWEI staring at me 90%of the time. Well regarding burn in I can't disagree, I'm surprised very few people report this. I'm glad Huawei Customer service replaced it without arguing. I hope I won't need to do it again, and if that's the case, I'd test again their customer service.
Regarding pixel uniformity, I can't notice anything wrong with this 3 weeks old screen

It's looks good now. Nice vibrant color till it gets burn in. Learned the hard way on my last phones to stay away from oled. Speakers are a little better on the Pro. I do miss the front navigation button. All in all good phone for me. The K970 won't win in any drag race but it has been a solid performer for me. Was set till the M20s came out but a thief changed that plan. Oh well grandson will enjoy this one over the M9 I gave him last year. Come on November.

Same here, I don't keep my phone running for hours with luminosity set to the max. As stated in my post, my device is a second hand. No idea what was previous owner habits, but being able to see his homescreen setup was a nightmare. I even had the impression I could see my own homescreen setup progressivel superimposed before contacting Huawei Customer service, but that could be a placebo effect Just too bad I did not took a picture of the result.
If issue was about Waze screen burning the display due to hours loooong rides, I could understand, but it wasn't the case. And even if it was, Huawei and other manufacturers should warn about it. And I suppose Huawei tries to minimize it with the auto-dimming enforced, but TBH I never heard people complaining about Samsung or Pixel devices.
In order to minimize the issue, I installed Gesture Control and even payed for Pro version, so I won't have navigation bar burning the display, and in addition I can enjoy fullscreen display all the time It could be an option for you as you miss fp reader/navigation button. There are few missed actions, I don't know if it's a matter of app sensivity setup, another parameter, or due to the app itself, but it's enough, and I'll progressively try to change the setup in order to reduce these misses.

All OLED screens suffer from this, some more, other less, but still an issue with oleds.
I'm glad mine doesn't have it, otherwise i would be annoyed too.
Usually static images cause this, but only if you keep your screen ON for hours on the same image.
OLED quality also matters, that's granted.

The lower spec Tencent version is not avaliable officially from Asus outside China and India, you can get it from China but you would need to convert it yourself to WW rom and change the fingerprint to WW rom. And you also won't get the official warranty from Asus.

I've to change the fingerprint reader (hardware)? Beh... In that way I would not use it. Not the fastest in the world... Face Unlock and done.
looks more like due to change of refresh rate.... higher refresh rate more red tint
Mine does also perform a slight change when switching between refresh rates, but I can't tell if there is an actual color change or just a brightness adjustment as it is very subtle. I considered this to be normal until now

Nope, it is hardware issue as there is no OLED screen without red tint issue. It is manufacture limitation. The only thing which phone maker can do, shove of display which had a lot of red tint (practically what expensive phone maker do (strict and better QC and QA)) and/or fix it via software (by playing with color, limit contrast and brightness (lot of phone maker do this)).
Dark grey in particular is very hard color to do it right (even on IPS panel). There will always something wrong with the implementation especially on low light condition. This is what Apple (and to some degree Samsung) good at (lol) and Google to boast their Pixel device.
Yes, the tint problem is HW but most of the times manufacturers try to make it less obvious by changing the frequency of the display or the voltage etc. Samsung has done a great job on 2019 devices as my father's A40 has an almost perfect display in terms of color accuracy and brightness
But i've tested the 5% gray test picture on both iphone x and blackberry priv and both of them showed a greenish tint and not much uniformity.
That's why i will always be in love with my old Sony x compact lcd display, it was perfect in every single aspect and I was never worried about burn-in issues.
Still dont understad why people prefer oled to a well made lcd...

There you go.
Hi All,
I am facing screen burn in issue within months of using this phone, am I the only UNLUCKY one?
EDIT: Update, Got phone back from ASC, they told the display was defective and they replaced Display and Battery, I see some dust particles in the Camera Lens and Flash modules but its okay as its not affecting the Camera performance. But I still think if I use it the same way as before the Burn in is imminent :crying:
Have you been spending the whole day on facebook and watching youtube vertically ?
I've had my ROG 2 since mid September and I'm basically on it constantly, I'm always using it, and I just tested mine for burn in and I can't even find the slightest little bit of burn in anywhere.
So everyone needs to understand that if they want to bring up burn in issues it is always needed to post some pictures taken by another camera
To test your phone for burn in its better to test a fully gray picture cause it shows most uniformity or burn in issues
Also try to test a fully blue picture, blue shows even the slightest burns

History: I used ROG 2 only purely for gaming as I already have Note 9 as my primary and daily driver, I played long sessions of PUBG Mobile mostly and the signs of burn in started kicking in within 3 months of usage.
Have given the phone to ASC, they told they will replace the screen under warranty. Waiting for an update from them.

Yes, I think you may have been unfortunate with a defective device. It's good that you still have warranty.
This is unfortunate news.
I have turned off the suggestion bar on the Google keyboard so I don't burn in the Google logo. I have gone dark mode on everything and have also enabled full immersive mode to hide the status bar when possible. I've gone to the extreme of using Waze only on another phone via hotspot from the ROG II.
Sounds extreme but after getting burn in twice on my s8+, I'm taking no chances with this phone.
I feel your pain and hopefully it's just a defect.
Guys dont panic! Burn in will happen at some point even if you use dark theme and everything, and the screen isnt that expensive anyways.
But i have a question from the op, which app are these burns coming from and on what brightness level do you normaly use the phone???!

You are absolutely RIGHT! BurnIn is gonna happen if not now but in days to come for anyone its the drawback of AMOLED.
The burn in was of the PUBG Mobile Buttons and HUD layouts which was the only game I mostly played in my phone for long hours and at times at max brightness which seems to have been the cause. But again my complaint is ASUS puts out banner as GAMING BEAST, then they should have probably gone with a LCD screen instead of AMOLED imho.
You are damn right they should have! A gaming phone with OLED panel is just a joke! In no time we will have burnins from all static HUD content of different games lol
I'm getting burn in from the Call of Duty HUD.
This is actually quite annoying and it will only get worse
Although I really enjoy using this phone with its no notch display and rgb eye on the back, I would definitely get an lcd high end phone If I could...
Just wondering if the green tint issue synonymous on Samsung 2020 panels has continued its trend onto the S21U? Asking for a mate.

Hi.
Haven't noticed any green tinting on my panel yet. Even on the lowest brightness. There is a teeny tiny smidge of motion smearing at the minimum brigntness when scrolling dark web-pages, but that's about the only fault I can find with the screen so far.

I had the S20 (6 different devices). All had a green/red tint issue. The S21 Ultra has a much better display. Mine at least.

Yeah. One of my Note 20 Ultras was more green tintish than the other. I couldn’t stand it, the Oneplus 8 pro also had it slightly. As did the iPhone 12 Pro Max. Thanks for sharing your experience.

You can change the colour temperature anyway under display settings. If you get a display with green tint just turn down the green and up the red.

Cheers. It didn’t quite work that way in practice.
I had the screen show a like a green background for split second , does this mean the screen is starting to get faulty or is it a software issue? I had this phone since launch (for about 4 months now)

If it was a one-time occurence, it could be due to anything. Difficult to diagnose it based on a split-second incidence. If it doesn't happen again, don't worry about it. But if the same issue keeps occuring, then it may be worthwhile investigating.

Its a one-time thing for now, but it got me scared. especially since I am currently having another issue with the phone (its crashing and rebooting randomly).

I saw your post in the other thread. This wouldn't have been a cause of concern in isloation but if you add your reports of system crashes and erratic behaviour, there may be something serious wrong with your phone under the surface. Would'nt be the first time this has happened to someone (at least not me).
This is exactly the kind of situation warranty is for.
I cannot profess to know what you should do next but i can only tell you what I would do faced with your situation. And that is to head to the nearest service centre and explain the issue and ask for a resolution. If that fails, escalate it upwards.
Looks like I jinxed myself by creating this post before receiving my device. Since I got it yesterday it has a very aggressive green to pink tint when slightly tilting the viewing the angel. I sent it back. The lord taketh away green tint and replaced it with this LOLzzz.
