Yep, but for the Tencent 550$ version? I don't want to waste double price for 12 "useless" GB RAM and 512GB ROM I will not use them...

The lower spec Tencent version is not avaliable officially from Asus outside China and India, you can get it from China but you would need to convert it yourself to WW rom and change the fingerprint to WW rom. And you also won't get the official warranty from Asus.

I've to change the fingerprint reader (hardware)? Beh... In that way I would not use it. Not the fastest in the world... Face Unlock and done.

looks more like due to change of refresh rate.... higher refresh rate more red tint

Mine does also perform a slight change when switching between refresh rates, but I can't tell if there is an actual color change or just a brightness adjustment as it is very subtle. I considered this to be normal until now

Are you dumb or what? Just because all have it doesn't mean it's still a display issue. Issue most of us have confirmed is by software and not the display.

I'm with you on this, regardless of whether it's hw or sw it's just a non issue. Haters will be haters.

Nope, it is hardware issue as there is no OLED screen without red tint issue. It is manufacture limitation. The only thing which phone maker can do, shove of display which had a lot of red tint (practically what expensive phone maker do (strict and better QC and QA)) and/or fix it via software (by playing with color, limit contrast and brightness (lot of phone maker do this)).
Dark grey in particular is very hard color to do it right (even on IPS panel). There will always something wrong with the implementation especially on low light condition. This is what Apple (and to some degree Samsung) good at (lol) and Google to boast their Pixel device.

Yes, the tint problem is HW but most of the times manufacturers try to make it less obvious by changing the frequency of the display or the voltage etc. Samsung has done a great job on 2019 devices as my father's A40 has an almost perfect display in terms of color accuracy and brightness
But i've tested the 5% gray test picture on both iphone x and blackberry priv and both of them showed a greenish tint and not much uniformity.
That's why i will always be in love with my old Sony x compact lcd display, it was perfect in every single aspect and I was never worried about burn-in issues.
Still dont understad why people prefer oled to a well made lcd...

Confirmed software. There's another thread on here with a color control mod, and the issue goes away.
I'm pretty sure it's deliberate. For some bizarre reason.

Might buy one plus 3t. need your suggestion and review

hello everyone.
I'm thinking of buying a used one plus 3t after my g4 boot looped. well it is about the most perfect ones in my mind.
so first i wanted to ask some questions
how is the performance after the nougat update?
how is the battery?
are there different variants? if yes then which one should i buy to be able to use most of the development work?
and does it have any problems like the dreaded g4 boot loop?
thanks alot for your kind help
I bought this phone recently. However i am Oneplus fanboy.
Coming to your questions.
how is the performance after the nougat update? Me: Not bad. But you will feel the smoothness and speed in the update.
how is the battery? - Lasts a day for me with 80 % charge. (9 working hours)Using mostly LTE always.
are there different variants? if yes then which one should i buy to be able to use most of the development work? There are three variants.(US/Europe-Asia/China), these all flash roms available here. But check if the bands available in your country and buy.
and does it have any problems like the dreaded g4 boot loop? - Boot loop is generic to android. Happens when you dont follow the instructions. If you are on perfect path, no boot loops.

oh thanks for the review
what i meant by the g4 boot loop is that g4 had a hardware problem which causes boot loop. any such problems in 3t?

Great phone in terms of performance and snappiness but the camera is average and the screen is meh. This coming from a annual Note owner who has been using the 3T for 4 months.

It's lower resolution that what many of the "flagship" manufacturers are using, and in fact lower resolution than your G4. And some folks claim to be able to see distortion from the pentile layout (just Google "pentile" if you don't know what that means).
The resolution likely won't be noticeable unless you intend to use the phone for VR (the 3T doesn't support Google Daydream anyway, unless you modify with root). And I personally don't see any pentile distortion.
My understanding, it's a Samsung SuperAMOLED. So the colors are brilliant and vivid (without being unrealistically saturated) with true blacks, and bright enough for use in sunlight. Coming from a device with an LCD screen, you will probably be impressed with the color vividness. I really like the screen. But it depends on your personal opinions, what device you are coming from, etc.

I planned to use Mi 9T Pro. As we know, Amoled screen had an issue called "Burn In/Shadow". Should I worry about this?

There's no burn in. While earlier OLED models had some issues regarding burn in, now the majority of flagships and even midrange devices have OLED panels and no burn in occurs.
There isn't too much protection needed to be fair. Even after years of usage you will not encounter any burn in. You mostly see burn in on panels that display the same thing for a very long time, meaning the pixels don't shut down or display other colors (e.g. TVs that run the same channel for a very long time).
There is protection on the Always on display. You'll notice the clock and notifications switch from one place to another every few minutes to avoid displaying the same pixels.
Burn in should be the least of your worries.

When i went to their retail shops i saw that most the 9t models they had on display had visible burn - in marks on the screen, this made me reluctant to buy the phone and i dont know what to think.

Don't worry about burnin unless you do something silly like increasing the display sleep time to half an hour or always keeping it in an unlock state. Use dark mode, 2 min timeout max, will be fine.
For every phone I've owned with an LCD/OLED display, I've experienced none. Yet when I use other people's phones of the same model, they have burn-in.
[Edit]
The only difference between me and others is that I always dim the screen. Never use on high brightness, unless in the sun.

How's your screen quality on TE/International Edition

Having my Tencent Edition for about a week now and pretty disappointed with its overall screen quality. There's visible noise when there's dark/grey areas on the screen. I tried watching Joker and it was really visible.
I've also got the problem of a grainy screen and red tint but the latter is more ignorable and only happens at low brightness.
The red tint issue is mostly software but I haven't seen many people talk about the grain issue which seems more like software related since it happens on and off.
I was wondering if I should try getting a replacement or if these were just common on international/TE versions of the phone.
Do these things happen with the 512/1TB versions? Watching Linus' review and his only complaint was the high brightness even at lowest.
Hi! I have the tencent edition and also notice some "noise" when in low brightness, and it gets more noticeable when using 90/120hz.
I saw a review from a youtuber with the strix edition (or the one with the triangular box) and he mentioned the issue as "some dirtiness" so I think it happens with all the variants of the phone.
Globle and tencent also using tiama 120hz screen rite?

Flicking screen while PUBG Mobile on RM3

Hi All, I purchased the handset from China and had the Global ROM installed on the handset. There is no issue with the performance however the screen started to flicker badly when I set the FPS to Ultra. I wonder if anyone having the same issue or have a solution to this issue? There is no issue when the FPS is to ULTRA. Your feedback would be appreciated. Thank you.
Never had that issue on any of my RM's or any of my other phones either.
Not specifically on ultra fps, I used to have my screen flicker when i changed the color tone in system settings.

I was advised to set it to GPU Mode but I didn't find any improvement.

Question Green tint ? Lolz

Hi.
Haven't noticed any green tinting on my panel yet. Even on the lowest brightness. There is a teeny tiny smidge of motion smearing at the minimum brigntness when scrolling dark web-pages, but that's about the only fault I can find with the screen so far.

Yeah. One of my Note 20 Ultras was more green tintish than the other. I couldn’t stand it, the Oneplus 8 pro also had it slightly. As did the iPhone 12 Pro Max. Thanks for sharing your experience.

I had the screen show a like a green background for split second , does this mean the screen is starting to get faulty or is it a software issue? I had this phone since launch (for about 4 months now)

If it was a one-time occurence, it could be due to anything. Difficult to diagnose it based on a split-second incidence. If it doesn't happen again, don't worry about it. But if the same issue keeps occuring, then it may be worthwhile investigating.

I saw your post in the other thread. This wouldn't have been a cause of concern in isloation but if you add your reports of system crashes and erratic behaviour, there may be something serious wrong with your phone under the surface. Would'nt be the first time this has happened to someone (at least not me).
This is exactly the kind of situation warranty is for.
I cannot profess to know what you should do next but i can only tell you what I would do faced with your situation. And that is to head to the nearest service centre and explain the issue and ask for a resolution. If that fails, escalate it upwards.
Looks like I jinxed myself by creating this post before receiving my device. Since I got it yesterday it has a very aggressive green to pink tint when slightly tilting the viewing the angel. I sent it back. The lord taketh away green tint and replaced it with this LOLzzz.
