Converting K20 PRO to 9T PRO - Redmi K20 Pro / Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro Questions & Answe

Hello guys,
I'm really confused, did some search but did not find a satisfying answer.
I just bought and received K20 PRO from AliX from Xiaomi Mi Store.
They say it come with Global ROM and device would be labeled 9T PRO.
The phone I received has Google Play and all languages, but device model is K20 PRO.
But Netflix isn't available, play store say device is imcompatible, also my Bank app doesn't work.
Just on 1st day my phone updated through OTA to Android 10 (not sure if it is the cause for Netflix and Bank app problem).
Did anyone installed 9T PRO GLOBAL ROM on K20 PRO?
Which are the basic steps?
Thanks in Advance!

what's the current rom version name?
Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk

For some reason Netflix works on my china 8/128 k20 pro, with custom roms and with xiaomi.eu Q now. Dint do anything at all, I just downloaded it in playstore. Maybe its a region thing?

QFKINXM looks like an Indian ROM if I'm correct. What i know from being told by others is that you can flash K20 pro [emoji3483] Mi 9T pro ROMs using Mi flash tool with unlocked bootloader BUT MAKE SURE YOU SELECT "CLEAN ALL" OPTION OTHERWISE YOU'LL BRICK THE PHONE. I'd appreciate if someone else would correct me if I'm wrong.

Makes sense to be Indian, as I got Android 10 fast.
The device come unlocked.
Which is the recommend ROM to flash so the device would be like a 9T PRO Global?
Can I flash any Android 9 ROM being on Android 10?

There will be never a real 9t pro. You can flash official global rom, but you CAN'T ever lock bootloader. I REPEAT, DON'T LOCK YOUR BOOTLOADER WITH A DIFFERENT ROM THAN ORIGINAL ONE (i mean, from original region that your device is, If your device is Chinese it can be locked only with Chinese genuine rom) That is what @ishaqtkr wanted to mean when said: "BUT MAKE SURE YOU SELECT "CLEAN ALL" OPTION OTHERWISE YOU'LL BRICK THE PHONE"
As you can flash global rom, it will be almost identical 9t pro, but as you can't lock your bootloader, you may have problems with bank apps, drm apps (Netflix like) and google pay.
The workaround is just flash magisk for (hide of bank apps). Install Netflix with by .apk file...

Kind of disappointed... Will flash one global rom and see the outcome, if Netflix and Bank still have problems I will sell the phone.
In past already had phones unlocked where Netflix and Bank worked with no problem...
PS. Even if I install Netflix through apk, when open it, on main page show message saying it is imcompatible.

Netflix works just fine here... There is even a thread where you can download a .apk with fhd working: https://forum.xda-developers.com/k20-pro/themes/netflix-fhd-k20-pro-t3964716
As I really don't care about fhd on my device, I just download .apk from first result of googling "Netflix apk".
As I said, you can flash magisk hide to make banks work with no problem at all..
And of course you can flash the original region rom and lock your bootloader...
There is a difference between "9t pro" and "k20 pro with global rom" in AliExpress..
I didn't know this stuff when I bought, but I found pretty okay make this changes... But it's up to you.

I will check netflix apk from xda.
I succesfully flashed Global 9T PRO ROM, Android 9.
Netflix same problem, but bank app is working back (was probably a region or Android 10 issue). Bank app is far more important than Netflix for me.
I flashed this ROM:
raphael_global_images_V10.3.2.0.PFKMIXM_20190911.0000.00_9.0_global_a11e2330ec, Using Mi Flash 2018.11.15.0
Almost had a heart attack when flash finished with error, but phone booted nonetheless, still unlocked state.
The flash process took about 7 minutes.
Thanks for all the help guys.

Checkpoint error is normal if you are not locking bootloader. Almost heart attack in your first time flashing is usual too...
I don't have any kind of issue with all Netflix apk, really weird problem...
I strongly recommend last Android 9, xiaomi.eu rom (10.4.6), it's really great and much more customizable than stock miui rom, with no down side at all...
Cheers

About xiaomi.eu rom, is it as simple as what I did with Global ROM (FastBoot Flash)?

Almost, you have to flash with twrp (not hard). Download and flash xiaomi.eu through twrp. Thst's it.
.zip file you need to flash through twrp (also called "recovery" rom")
.tgz you flash in xiaomi tool (also called "fastboot" rom) - as you just made with global rom...
That's the rule...
Now, you go to this thread and choose: https://forum.xda-developers.com/k20-pro/how-to/redmi-k20-pro-firmware-10-3-8-0-9-6-13-t3939647
To be honest, I bought this device to use it with pixel experience (like my old pocophone), but to be fair, PE is no ready yet (little bugs here anD there). But I'm getting really comfortable with xiaomi.ru rom... I think I can get this as my daily driver for long period...
Hope I could help...

One thing to mention.
After flashing Global, I really feel the phone is much snappier than it was before, can't explain why, maybe Android 9 over Android 10...

Good day,
Maybe anyone here can help me, or at least point me in the correct direction.
I have a new MI9T Pro, bought from Dutch retailer, bootloader locked, all ok. But after unlocking the bootloader, I have been "flashing" around a bit, learning the process on the way, but now my phone became a Redmi K20-Pro...???
Really don't know what to do now, anybody else experienced this?

Basically you flashed an Indian or China ROM where K20 is based. BE CAREFUL while flashing ROMs using MI Flash tool, if you select CLEAN ALL AND LOCK while flashing a ROM that's not of the exacy region the phone comes from you'll brick it.

Thanks for your reply, I did flash some vendor image, almost sure phone became like this after doing so.
I'm still trying to work out out all this different vendor/firmware files.

Personally i don't see any problem if the about section reads K20 Pro lol

no way to relock bootloader in chinese device with global rom?

there is no chance to get a workaround to relock the bootloader in a chinese device running global rom?
Probably not.... Maybe someone make a hack... but I had Yotaphone and there was option to install RU (global) rom - problem was only with no supporting bands and hacked baseband to partially fix it. But here is the problem... damn bootloader - maybe some one will be able to hack and replace vitaminised bootloader with official ?
Development is still weak, we do not have kernel source code, which is a bit difficult but it should appear in the future.
well someone has found a workaround for the Mi Mix 2S?

This is not workaround for the question of the treatd!
I also bought chnina version with global rom and unlocked bootloader
Misled by the seller showing large photo with official global rom, but in description with small lethers:
OS ------------ MIUI, Unlocked Bootloader, Official Global ROM, China Version, Support OTA Update.
(Inquiry is necessary if want to reflash firmware)
I`m still waiting delivery, but after I red what I bought I start looking for solution for relock bootloader with Global Rom. So far, no one manage to make it. As @gugugrp said, we have to wait for solution in future (how long, no one knows).
I have one question too, is it posible OTA Update of the global rom already instaled without locking bootloader?
Hi, why do you want to relock BL with global rom?
I have a CN version with unlocked BL and global rom, but it seems useless to me to lock it, or not?

Some apps don`t work at all or don`t work properly or need third party apps to work. Also, if you use the phone as work one, you would prefer OTA update This is my persional opinion of course. If you are about to use custom roms and to play with the phone, it is beter to leave it unlocked.
The problem is not the unlocked bootloader, but the fact that the MiUI 9 stable play store is not sertificated for this deviece... . You also have OTA with the official global and unlocked bootloader.

Google pay does not work with unlocked bootloader for sure (as far as I know). I red some threads for worckaround with third party apps, but....at your own risk. I`m not a dev, just wanted simple phone with OTA update and decently security. If the problem is only in MIUI 9 and when MIUI 10 Global Official comes out fixes this, I`ll be ok, but anyway...would like to know I can lock bootloader with global rom
That would be my exact question in 12 days. Let me know if you know
Same situation for me, using the Chinese Rom instead which allows to lock the bootloader. I will move to the global one when (or if) this could be done...

I doubt xiaomi will ever rollback on the policy, however if the certification on google play is what u are concerned about, installing an older version of magisk and using the universal magisk patcher can mask the unlocked bootloader

As I said I am using the chinese ROM to avoid having the bootloader unlocked. Therefore I had to install the google play myself . Inside the google play settings, the play protect certification field says: Device is not certified.
I found somewhere that this is the reason why NFC payments do not work.
Do you think that the trick with the magisk old version will fix this?
Other than this the Chinese ROM version is working perfect!

China Rom to Global Rom

I am currently running MIUI 10.0.5.0 on my chinese MI8, I can unlock bootloader soon. My question is, can I simply flash latest Global stable 10.0.2.0 via fastboot, or will Anti-Rollback-Protection brick my device, because its an lower version than the current system?

This topics reflects quite good my question.
I need a new phone and it will be a Mi 8 Pro which I probably will order during the weekend.
But before I do that I want to clarify a pretty important question:
If I buy a Mi 8 Pro China version will I then be able to install the global ROM so that I at least have the english language and the usual Play Store?
As far as I know the only thing I need to unlock the phone and that will take about 14 days, correct?

Correct. When flashing global do not select to lock the phone.
Your unlock time can differ, but it's just to wait it out.

Rooting chinese Mi 8 with unlocked bootloader and global ROM

Last week I purchased a Mi 8 from a mexican version of eBay, and I come from the legendary Mi A1.
I wanna have faith and think the seller did not have any bad intentions when he sold it to me, because it's a chinese version with MIUI 10 global ROM. It obviously has its bootloader unlock.
I'm aware of:
China Mi 8 + GLOBAL ROM + Unlocked booloader = safe
China Mi 8 + China ROM + Locked booloader = safe
China Mi 8 + GLOBAL ROM + Locked booloader = BRICK!
To keep it short, I wanna be able to use Google Pay and Netflix, so I wanna root my Mi 8. As far as I read, I don't need to flash MIUI.eu, only root and use Magisk tricks.
I downloaded this TWRP: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-8/development/recovery-twrp-3-2-3-1110-t3869729, and another one from a site that I don't remember.
I didn't want to flash it because I don't want to risk bricking it ot bootlooping it. With the Mi A1 I needed to boot into a "temporary" TWRP and then flash the real thing, so I tried the same thing. The TWRPs didn't boot at all. So, is it safe to flash that latest TWRP? If I root and tinker with Magisk, will I be able to bypass Google's certification?
It is safe to flash that recovery. I'm afraid that you might have to decrypt your phone by formating data. Otherwise I really recommend you to flash Xiaomi.eu, it passes SafetyNet and it has less bloatware, you don't even need to flash Magisk. I was on Xiaomi.eu since RN3 MTK as that ROM is originally from my country and it was the best option and I still consider their ROM as one of the best if not the best.

So, the TWRP is only flasheable and not bootable? I don't mind the bloatware,as I find it actually useful, except for the Mi theme and app store (which I already uninstalled). Is the EU ROM aat the latest version? The day I got my phone I got the 10.2.1.0 update and installed it normally.
To root I have to do the verity dm thing, right?
Lastly. I only want to root and not flash any other ROM for the time being, because I like to edit root/system/media stuff and some build prop lines for fun. That's what I did with my A1 to entertain myself.
EDIT: The formatting data part is really a bummer. It took me a day to set everything up and I don't wanna do it again.

It depends on what are your preferences. If you will be use any custom rom there is not any reason to pay more for global version. Remember that if you would like to has locked bootloader you can use only chinese miui rom ( Chinese and English language only) on Chinese version.

[SOLVED] NO NFC on Redmi K20 PRO

Hello XDA Developers,
Any help needed, pleeaase.!
Probably I'm doing something wrong, or there is serious problem with my phone - no NFC. Not sure if it is ROM related or related to the phone itself.
Any help, troubleshooting, workarounds, mods will be really appreciated.
FYI: I Did not change the ROM, was the original with the phone, see details bellow:
Phone Tester says following:
No NFC support
This is what Phone Tester says about the ROM:
Model: Redmi K20 PRO
Device: raphaelin
OS Release: 9 - Pie
OS Build: PKQ1.181121.001
Firmware: V10.3.1.0.PFKINXM
Bought on AlieExpress, Seller: mi global store
(don't mix up with another seller XIAOMI mi store)
Update:
At the end and thanks to XDA Developerz I changed the ROM with TWRP and xiaomi.eu version. It fixed the issue. Now I have good ROM with TWRP recovery!
I'm not sure what that company did but here's what shows up for me.

Hello, Did you get your phone with Developer ROM, or already preinstalled Global ROM?
and also what Phone Tester says which CPU you have?
My Phone Tester says I have Qualcomm Technologies Inc SM8150
Also if you go to Phone Settings -> About the phone I have this:
Model number Redmi K20 Pro
Model Name M1903F11A
Kernel version: 4.14.83-perf-gf578f07
What are yours?

raphaelin is the device name of the Indian version of the K20 Pro. This hasn't been released yet, so there shouldn't be any official ROM's with that device name. This suggests that it isn't an official ROM. Did you buy it with a pre-installed global ROM?

Yes, I did. However what I found from 954wrecker is that he is is using Firmware V10.3.11.0 mine is 10.3.1.0
not sure if this where the problem is. Is there any hardware bus scanner available as an apk?
I'm bit new to xda-developers, s but with experience as Linux sysadmin as well as some development.

I know nothing about hardware bus scanners, however it would be recommended to install another ROM from a legitimate source. Your phone will most likely be unlocked already. The xiaomi.eu developer ROM 9.6.27 has had a few people say that it's stable. I'm still waiting to be able to unlock the bootloader, so haven't tried it myself yet.
Thanks guys, you almost convince me that it is a ROM issue. My phone is unlocked, which is obviously very good news.
Now, the question where to get the FULL ROM, and not the updates. I'm on V10.3.1.0, some people have 10.3.11.0 here.

This thread lists the official and xiaomi.eu ROMs
https://forum.xda-developers.com/k20-pro/how-to/redmi-k20-pro-firmware-10-3-8-0-9-6-13-t3939647
I'm guessing you want a global ROM, so it's the xiaomi.eu ROMs, these are listed under EU. Looking on the forums there seems to be an audio issue with the latest stable release.
Please flash xiaomi.eu firmware k20 pro supports NFC and it works well.
Sent from my Redmi K20 Pro using Tapatalk
Mine support it , yours too , just factory reset it
Thanks to everyone. At the end I flashed xiaomi.eu 10.3.12 and it fixed the issue.
I have the same issue.
Received my k20 pro yesterday and spent hours and hours to configure it properly (tons of apps and settings)
But no NFC...
Rom MIUI GLOBAL 10.3.1. 1
is there a way to update firmware without erasing everything??
Thank you

Good question! Not sure, better to ask not in this thread, but in separate thread will be much faster response. Are you planning to install TWRP? Because if you plan to do so, ask how you can try to do this with TWRP.
I can confirm that xiaomi.eu 10.3.12 fixed my issue with NFC and also I can tell that 10.3.9 chinese rom does not have issue with NFC either (why Chinese ROM you may ask? - because it is full image ROM, and initially I made mistake with TWRP did not decrypt the filesystem, I did not know the password at the that time which was my PIN, so I flashed it twice) Avoiding my mistake you can go directly to xiaomi.eu 10.3.12 with TWRP.
I have found that Redmi k20 pro has hardware related touch problems. Please check and confirm that.

Yes touch issues only activates when you use more than two fingers at a time.
Eg - while playing games or when playing pubg

The most proper way to install Xiaomi eu?

Hi, I just installed eu 11.0.5.0 stable, and I always got camera app crashing following with other apps like security and play store.
I just want to make sure, is that issue related to miui version that i used before? I mean, maybe i need to install a specific miui version first before installing Xiaomi eu to make it run flawlessly.
Or maybe if anyone knows the best way to install Xiaomi eu, please share.
I use Mi 9T Pro Global
Thanks in advance.
yeah, check my guide https://forum.xda-developers.com/k20-pro/how-to/simple-beginners-guide-to-raphaelin-t4020543
if it helps. there's a xiaomi.eu section in post 2 and a how-to flash rom in post 1

Had you wiped clean before installing eu from stock miui?
Wide everything, and than flash.
After flashing - wipe internal storage and reboot.
