When I am using a mobile network (both 3G and 4G) and the signal is low, sometimes I lost connection (That's normal), but the stange thing is that phone don't reconnect soon and it remains offline. I have to manually reboot or enable/disable airplane mode... and the signal come back.
I'm using Mi 9 for about 5 months. I am on the last firmware and even on old versions same thing...
Anyone has got similar problems?
Hi i have also some problem with my connections, I am from Germany I got my Mi 9 since a week (Rom was Global Europe 10.2.30 EEU) now I have the Global Rom (10.2.13) but this is also no solution.
Sometimes it shows me a Network but I tried to call my girlfriend and it has no dailtone, also it shows me network but I can't receive calls, same problem I have with mobile data, it shows connection but then it isn't connect to the internet.
if I switch off the mobile data connection and switch it on then I have normal connection.
I hope there will be a fix in the next update....I heard that some people have that problem.
Mine loses signal sometimes on the subway but reconnects by itself in 30-60 secs, i find that a bit slow but overall I think it holds onto the signal better than the phones i had in the past. This is the type of issue that would be solved in 1 month at most but here we are, an update almost every 2 months that "optimizes" one thing and weighs in at 500+ MB.
Mine have the same problem. When I'm on the subway it lost the signal and when I go out to the street again I have to enable/disable airplane mode to get signal again, because it can't connect automatically like a normal phone.. I'm from Mexico and I have Global ROM 10.2.13.0

I have a similar problem. Where I work the phone goes from 4g to 3g, to avoid this I open the phone settings 1 (by entering * # * # 4636 # * # * on the call keypad) and switch from lte / td-scdma / umts which is default option to only lte.
The problem remains the same when the phone loses the line and then finds signal again, because although there is signal after I do not receive photos or audio from wa or cannot I access the services of play store for example and I have to switch to default option again...
I'd like to know if there was a method to increase the power of the antenna module even just a little with root permissions ...
I have a similar issue, especially when I am driving car - I am from Germany.
When I start driving with Google Maps open (to have an overview of the traffic), after about 30 minutes my Mi 9 loses connection and won't reconnect, even if I switch on/off airplane-mode etc. This does not happen every time, but relatively often. To get back network connection I have to restart the phone.
About 2 days ago when I was home I lost connection again. Google Maps was still running. After closing the app my Mi 9 immediatly connected to network. That may have been coincidence, but next time I will close Google Maps if my phone loses connection again in the car and will report here.
I am on Xiaomi.EU 9.9.26 Android Q (I just installed *.27 v2), had the same issue on different Xiaomi.EU Android P releases.

It happened to me several times and I can't understand why ...
In this case the connection seemed to be good too, I had all the signal notches in Lte, but in reality it was absent.
I had to restart.
Known problem it seems...?
Hopefully Xiaomi will fix it soon.. wonder if custom ROMS have the same problem

So, as I said I report back.
Today again after about 30 minutes my Mi 9 lost connection (0 bars). Again at about the same region. Probably the connection is bad there. However, my Mi 9 didn't reconnect even after few minutes (sometimes I waited 5+ minutes and IT didn't help).
I closed Google Maps and another App, which requires GPS. Nothing happened. Then I deactivated GPS from the quick menu and my Mi 9 connected immediately to the network with full bars.
I have "o2" as network provider.
Xiaomi.EU 9.9.27 v2 ROM.

I changed to LTE only, and use it for some hours...
It didn't help. Same as before.
Thanks anyway

Yeah, I know, For me is the same.
When I lose connection I've to change to LTE, When it happen again, I've to do it again so I come back to default option.
I do this to avoid restarting the phone and to be faster, but the issue remain anyway...
But remember, When u're in "only LTE" option, you will not able to call
Workaround is change to 3G connection preference
Hi everyone!
I have the same issue and after lot of things that I have done, as change MIUI to Global version, now I can use 3G without problem, but if I try to use LTE/4G after some minutes using GPS in high accuracy, LET connection turns OFF.
So, my workaround is change to 3G connection preference when I need to use Waze, Maps or any other app high accuracy.
I have the same problem too, and I always have to reboot the phone to get the data/wifi to work again. But just a minute ago I had the same problem and I just killed all tasks in recents and the network came back without having to reboot. May be coincidence or I'm on to something.
From experience this problem should have disappeared for quite some time now.
I have always been using EEA ROMs. I believe I have not seen this problem at all in MIUI 12. It has been such a long time since I last saw the problem I don't really remember if this was fixed during the MIUI 11 era.

Which ROM/Firmware are you using?
Try disable and enable airplane mode instead of rebooting

Hi.
I've recently started having lots of difficulty when moving out of range of my home's wireless signal in the phone picking up and connecting to the Mobile Data network.
Specifically:
1) Run phone for ages at home using wireless
2) Walk out of house, out of range. Wireless connection goes unconneced
3) Wait for Mobile Network to connect, have at least 3 bars of signal - fails, no E/G/H Sign, Network indicator stays white ( So far waited up to 3 hours)
4) Reboot Phone, instant Mobile Network Connection @ H
Things I have tried:
1) Turning Wireless off before leaving range of wi-fi, sometimes this works ( circa 1 in 20)
2) Turning Phone to Airplane Mode & Back - sometimes this works ( circa 1 in 15 ).
Turning Airplane mode on can take about 4 minutes, as though something is waiting for a closure timeout. Normally, this takes about 5 seconds.
3) Phone calls are intermittant during this time - sometimes I can make them, sometimes i can't.
4) While in range, turn phone off/on again so a "clean" boot, then walk out of range. No affect on ability to reconnect.
Check Phone Status under About Phone, the Mobile Network States reports "Not Connected"
It's really annoying, as I want to use the phone to during breakfast to check the latest traffic information and map updates from Google Maps before I leave home, then get in the car and go, not reboot the phone.
Has anyone else suffered a similar problem?
Phone Specifics:
Motorola Razr I XT890
Android 4.1.2 Stock
T-Mobile
Is there some investigative
Thanks!
I've had exactly the same issue on/off for weeks.
Not found a reason/fix for it yet, although I've been loath to do a full wipe with how busy I am atm.

Hmm.
At least we know we are not in the same boat, and a recent forum query on Engagdet highlighted others.
I've tried to capture a bug report to give me some logs to look at, but that's not working at the moment either !
Thinking it might be an "Always On" app related problem such as sykpe or amazon mp3 :S
Hello!
I've been facing some problems with my LTE connection using TIM in Brazil. My 4G LTE speeds are great (about 50/50mbps) and the connection is pretty stable with about 40ms ping. I even use it to play online games in my computer, as it's faster than my home network. But recently after getting random disconnects when playing, I started to take notes of the time the connection was lost, and I found out that it disconnects every 30 min (the 4g icon also disappears and appears back in something about 3s). It didn't use to happen 1 or 2 months ago.
Wanted to know if that's a carrier-sided problem or it's my moto x, and if it's the second option, I also would like to know if there's something to bypass this half an hour limit (I believe it's some connection timeout).
Hope you guys can help me out!

My guess is carrier-side issue. Nothing you can do about it unless they do something on their end. They probably implemented a tcp or udp timeout of 1800 seconds (30 min).

The problem I am having a similar problem on Verizon. I have to tap the airplane mode to get 4g back. It drains my battery searching for signal.

Sometimes I face this too... Mostly when I get home and it gets stuck in EDGE or HSDPA (I get a poor signal here because the tower is 7 floors above my apartment) and I can't get LTE back... I need to select GSM only or WDCMA only, wait for it to connect to the data network itself and then switch back to LTE. That's weird.
My cellphone wasn't doing this kind of thing before (timeout). I remember playing an entire match of League of Legends w/o further problems. Gonna try calling my carrier this week and see what's going on.
Hello,
I've used my Mi A2 around 2 weeks now and I'm really satisfied with the phone. However, I got some annoying issue about wifi. When the signal strength of wifi is not so strong (below -70 dbm), it tends to disconnect for around 10-20 sec and then reconnected again. This happened to me like 10 times since I got the phone. And wifi works perfectly without disconnections when the signal strength is strong enough.
Does anyone experience this issue? Or I got a defected device?
Thank you
Same here, sometimes it just disconnects ...

It is a normal stock android behavior, because android detects that signal of wi-fi is to low, and tries to switch automatically to GSM mobile data, or to another wi-fi if it is available in the area.
I don't have this happen but wifi signal is strong and also; gsm data is turned off.
That *may* help to turn that off possibly, as it obviously can't (now) switch to it?

Even if mobile network is off? Is there a way to change such behavior? I tried to find in the setting but what I just found is Aggressive WiFi to mobile handover, which was already turned off.

I think that it is called smart wifi, or wifi+ option in other types of android OS, and here it is just a automatic option in stock android i guess.
I don't mind it, because it will change my wifi router AP if it get stuck, and need an reboot, so it will automatically switch to another closest one that works.
You better think of some way to get a better signal then to turn off this function.
Try with aps like this on the link.

The thing is that wifi also disconnected when there's no other nearby networks to switch to. I did something to get better signal in my room but this still happened sometimes.
My S10 takes a while to find mobile signal after restart or when airplane mode is turned off after turning on. A while here is at least a minute to 2. 60-120 seconds. I don't know this is happening all of a sudden. Happened yesterday while travelling. Also I had installed Cellular - Z and Wifi Man apps before this issue. I used Cellulaz extensively and suddenly now a new issue.
I am sure this was not an issue before. I did a network settings reset, cleaned cache and the mobile signal is really good. Now apps that I mentioned above are uninstalled too.
Anyone faced this issue before ?
Happens only on Roaming
This happens only when roaming and the time taken to find mobile signal is 1 minute . When on non roaming, signal is instantaneously found..within 5 seconds
IDK if it's related (probably not) but I've been noticing my US S10 has lost signal entirely and won't regain it unless the device is rebooted. Happened only twice (so far) but that's still 2 times too many.
K20 pro, MIUI 12.5.5, stock china ROM not rooted
I am getting random mobile network dissconnects on both sim cards sometimes few times a day and sometimes only once a week or so. It happens only while navigating.
If I kill the navigation app (Waze or Google Maps), the network comes back in few minutes.
If I leave it on - I am stuck on "Searching for Network" and cannot even search for newtorks manualy...
If I reboot the phone - all comes back fine and I am able to continue navigation - no problems.
Searching the net found somewhat similiar issue with OnePlus - users there complaining they are geting network/s disconnect immidiatly when using any GPS app with Work Profile enabled.
So far I did:
Swap slots
Got new SIM cards (from the same provider)
Reset APN settings
Removed dual apps (they are creating Work Profile)
Delete/Re-install Waze
Tried ON/OFF Google Location Accuracy and Emergeny Location Service
Nothing seemes to help.
I am realy not very keen on Network Reset or Phone Reset at this point...
Any ideas please?
Updates:
Network Reset - didn't help
Flashing Official Global ROM 12.5.2 - didn't help
I am now thinking it is maybe a hardware problem... but it is still strange that immediately after restart, it will work fine for at least few hours (even few days sometimes).
Also still cannot figure how GPS receiver can cause network disconnect (Google also knows almost nothing of such cases).
