Might the V40 be able to run on 5G? Would it merely be a radio flash, either by official update or 3rd party ROM?

No way! It lacks the modem.
So, you're saying it's a 'hardware ain't there' issue?

Exactly.
5G uses different frequencies than 4G/LTE. -> Requires antennas and modem hardware to support it (and obviously software).

Hey there forum, I just got the newest Consumer Reports and I was surprised to find a small segment about Sprint's Spark. I personally don't know much about it but I wanted to offer up their point of view.
That talks about simultaneous voice/data. And yes, that's a HUGE drawback. I have a VZW phone for work and I use that all the time.

I've heard its only like this for now until sprint would launch the new 800 band. Don't know if its 100% true.

Shoot where I'm located, here in Biloxi Ms I'm lucky to even have LTE. Sometimes I drive to the next town over which is Gulfport and its all 3g. I'm happy with 10-14mbps now where I live. May see thri band LTE in some years here, maybe.. Maybe when im --> [emoji69] haha. Tks for that article. Its from 12/13 but we shall see...We never really know till it goes down you know..

If the article comments are accurate, then per the FCC it will be after 2/2016 before sprint is using 800MHz for data.

hardware, it physically cannot support those frequencies.
Not true it does support all Verizon bands however Verizon will not authorize those meids for the pure additions to be activated on their network

It supports all LTE and (3/4?) UMTS bands, but not the CDMA ones. Therefore it depends on the distribution of infrastructure in your area is and which towers your phone can see.
But...just left a Verizon store being told the system said no to the MEID. Debating spend a couple hours on the phone trying to escalate tech support levels until someone might whitelist my MEID in some way. Then again, I got this phone because both Verizon and Motorola refused to unlock the bootloader of a phone I had purchased outright...
Hi fellow Mi 5 users,

Sorry for off topic question... Do you have 4G connectivity on Three? I'm not happy with EE and I'm thinking to switch to Three but I don't want to lose 4G.

Yeah I've got LTE on Three. Not sure if VoLTE works yet but will see when out and about.

I don't care about VoLTE. I just need decent internet lol. Thanks for your answer.
Three confirmed that only a handset sold by them will work. Would it be possible to post the relevant code from a Three ROM to make a flashable zip?

I'd like to swap back and forth between two esim capable phones on T-Mobile. If this easy to do without having to contact TMobile?

Sorry, misread your topic.
Ability to register same esim on another phone depends on provider.
Some allow you to use QR-code multiple times or can generate you new code within the app/send by email, others require to visit provider's store.
Hey all I'm trying to tether/hotspot my nintendo switch (happens to any device as well that attempts to connect) to my V40 but it fails at the internet connection test basically "connected to phone no internet connection" I know it's not my cell provider (AT&T w unlimited data) as I did this with my samsung SM-G9650 and didn't have any issue... And my V40 can access the internet itself via cell data just fine so I'm not sure what is going on I'm hoping someone might have some tricks or a solution or something.
Device information:
LG V40 Unlocked V405UA20a
Android 9 Stock w/-(Magisk, Edxposed, TWRP)

Did you set up the mobile hotspot to only accept certain devices, or accept all device?

Sorry lol try these.. Or :
Can you go back one menu before 'set up hotspot'? Look for 'Manage Connections'. Our screens don't seem identical from either software version or cell carrier.
