Hey all I'm trying to tether/hotspot my nintendo switch (happens to any device as well that attempts to connect) to my V40 but it fails at the internet connection test basically "connected to phone no internet connection" I know it's not my cell provider (AT&T w unlimited data) as I did this with my samsung SM-G9650 and didn't have any issue... And my V40 can access the internet itself via cell data just fine so I'm not sure what is going on I'm hoping someone might have some tricks or a solution or something.
Device information:
LG V40 Unlocked V405UA20a
Android 9 Stock w/-(Magisk, Edxposed, TWRP)
Kernel 4.9.112
Did you set up the mobile hotspot to only accept certain devices, or accept all device?

Sorry lol try these.. Or :
Can you go back one menu before 'set up hotspot'? Look for 'Manage Connections'. Our screens don't seem identical from either software version or cell carrier.

I remember there is a file in the system that will show the WiFi password. Anyway, this helps as well. Thank you very much.

It only shows the passwords you entered on your phone. If they were restored from your google account, there's no way to see those passwords.

Go into es explorer go to the root. Go in data then misc then wifi. Then open the wpa_supplicant.conf file. This file contains every wifi password you have ever typed in.

Is anyone else finding that when using location based wifi, when re entering a saved location it doesn't turn wifi back on I have to turn wifi back on manually, then sometimes I have to select the wifi network and select connect. It's starting to become a bit of a pain.

Hmm maybe I've got a glitch, I'll see how it goes, it does switch on sometimes but most of the time I have to re enable the wifi.

If it's your home network, have you tried to reboot the router? Or to assign a static IP-address to it - one of the earlier Xperias had the same problem until a later update.

I haven't tried that yet, will reboot the router first and go from there. When I had the XZ it used to do it then, but not as much as this does.

Well I used to use WiFi - Matic on my HTC One which worked perfectly, so will go back to that if the inbuilt one still plays up.

Mine seems better since I changed the wifi power policy to standard from advanced.

I have looked and not found anything that would allow me to turn this back on. Not sure why ATT disables this when other carriers don't but if anyone knows of the file that needs to be modified with root access please post.

You mean the quick setting for mobile data?
You can turn it on but it requires root.

I have root, what file needs to be modded to get mobile data icon back on ATT phones?
thanks

I should note the S4 tweak will not work on the S6 to get that icon back. The filename for the quick setting panel is not the same.

No problem. I do it on mine to (usually, unless I forget after flashing a ROM lol).
I have a CSC tweak for the Canadian data icon (the one by the signal strength) if you don't like the AT&T ones to

Cheers, i saw a thread for doing this mod on the S4 but they didn't use the editor which is why i couldn't find the notification panel to modify. Glad this is out there. I'll play with it and report back.
Here I'd the link to the CSC edit I mentioned.

Made the changes and it works well. A few other changes like removing the brightness panel can also be accomplished using the same method.

There's no VoLTE toggle in Mobile Network Settings and the IMS Settings method doesn't work. I don't want to root the phone and honestly, we shouldn't have to jump through such hoops for this. Even the S7 works out of the box. This is embarrassing.

Did I ask about 4G? I'm talking about VoLTE. There is no VoLTE toggle in the settings.
Some people use an app that allows them to turn on or off the volte. Sorry I don't remember the app name.

Have you by any chance remembered its name?
Might the V40 be able to run on 5G? Would it merely be a radio flash, either by official update or 3rd party ROM?
Sent from my LM-V405 using Tapatalk
No way! It lacks the modem.
So, you're saying it's a 'hardware ain't there' issue?

Exactly.
5G uses different frequencies than 4G/LTE. -> Requires antennas and modem hardware to support it (and obviously software).
