Hello everyone
I just have two questions for now about usage of this phone. I have standard EU MI9tPro 6/128 version with stock Miui Global 10 (10.3.2.0). After a week i got it unlocked officially and rooted with magisk - added edxposed with gravity box to tweak it like my old redmi note 3 pro. As it is miui i was sure my old problem with redmi note will be gone as my wife uses redmi 4a with miui and don't have this issue. The issue is- i can't send or receive mms messages until i manually enable mobile data. I'm one of those people that have data turned off until i really need it soo yea... On my wife's phone with miui 10 this works like it should. It starts mobile data automatically on mms receive or send. On my mi9tpro it just waits for me to enable it. After enabling data i can normally send and receive mms . Is there any cure for this behavior on miui? If not can someone point me to a custom rom when this feature really works ?
Second question requires explanation as ususal I'm always on 2G to save battery life. Enabling data ends with waiting for anything so i need to switch to 3G or 4G and that is pretty annoying since i have to go to settings click this and that and that. So my solution for that on redmi note 3 pro was a feature in Gravitybox module to add tile to pop down menu with quick preferred network switch . That worked great. On current miui every other option from gravity box works except this one :/ Is there any other way to quickly change preferred data mode ? Like adding a button/switch to the desktop or pop down menu? Other than these two little problems all works great Thank You all for reading. Please help
up, anyone?
Am i the only freak here who don't use mobile data all the time and 2G? I'm sure there is someone here who had that issue. Anyone?
Try giving the messaging app permissions for toggling system settings, network and wifi.
I'm using textra . I gave it all permissions. Everything. Still no go. Same with original messeging app.
Hello. I was able to solve my second question with a widget from nova launcher - it made a switch on main screen to switch network mode so that is sorted. Mms not receiving automatically is a problem still. Anyone have a solution to that?
Sorry, don't have any solution for you but I'm wondering why all this hassle…

yea agreed , 2g on a 4000 mah battery ,this method used to be a old school way , if battery life is important , always bring along a powerbank
Hehe i can understand Your point there. This is the Way i work - i don't want to have mobile data enabled if not necessary.

Yeah, even though I personnally don't care about having mobile data enabled the whole time, I can see why you would want to turn it off and on, especially if you are data limited, etc.
I was talking about the hassle to switch to 2G <--> 4G just for battery life.
Out of Curiosity, and without exagerating please, how much battery life you think you save by doing this ?
I can't really say as i have this Phone for twoo weeks, but seeing as how quickly % go down with 4g and 2g i would Say a Day maybe more can be saved. I know how it must sounds for others. I used to get 5-6 days without charging on my Old redmi note3 pro. I won't get that on this one for sure. Thank you for answering

5-6 days for note pro 4100 mah , are you at outdoor most of the time ? do update here how long k20 pro/mi9t pro last on 2g mode . funny this quick switch widget 2g to 3g used to be a norm , then its was gone , perhaps nowadays data has gone down in price , more cheaper . hmmm isnt MMS using telco lines instead of data ?
It's not matter of cost but more security. And Yes in Poland at least data needs to be enabled for MMS to work. I can update on how long i can go with my usage with 2g.

Hello.
I recently dusted off my Australian Velocity after the Nexus 5 went for a swim at the beach. I have S-off, rooted and installed the albinoman ROM.
There are a couple of issues I have noticed so far.
The 4g connection is patchy at best. Not very stable at all but I can live with that.
The battery indicator is acting strangely it stays in 100% for ages but then it starts going down very quickly until it gets to 14% where it stays for a long time but once it gets past that it just goes to full discharge very fast.
I am having the same issue that many other guys and my MMS capabilities are not working. The phone just stays sending or retrying but messages never leave.
Any suggestions about what to do? I have wiped and reinstalled the ROM a few times and it makes no difference.
On the other hand I love the overclocking capabilities makes the phone feel a bit more responsive.
Thanks and keep up the good work

As for the 4G connection, once you've accumulated 10 posts you should mention this in the CM 11 ROM thread and ask if the APN needs to be any different than normal (or if the mod changes the APN). The battery issue should get fixed if you let it fully charge and fully discharge about 3 times. The MMS capabilities is a known issue; try the specific nightlies that albinoman recommended to fix the MMS issue. New nightlies might break previous fixes and stuff.
Same Issue
I'm having the same issue here for AT&T HTC Vivid, none of my MMS were sent, nor have I received any. It's really essential for me cuz of my group, clubs have MMS and inorder for me to get those notifications I need MMS.
Calls are okay, but there are times where there's no sound on the other caller, so to fix that I end call and call again, which fixes it.
One final issue I've been having since Jellybean and Kitkat is the proximity for when calls, it does not respond. So i have to turn on Settings>Accessibility>Power button to end a call, because the phone's screen stays black during call, and 10-30 seconds after call. Camera is okay too, but doesn;t function well in video recording in apps like Snapchat and Instagram.
Overall, it's a great ROM by albinoman, I wish the Sweep2Wake is soon embedded, that's really great and wayyy better than the power button.

Thank you very much.
I tried Albinoman suggested rom and I still have issues with MMS.
The battery indicator is normalising as you said it would.
I know about the 10 posts count but it is hard for me to just write a post for the sake of getting the count up.
Yeah, I hear ya, I've been there before too. The posts will generally come easily and quickly posting to q&a and general, so you're on the right track

I'm also in Aus.
Been running CM versions now for over a year.
The new CM11 has been trouble free, with one quirky problem. I manually set my network preference to 2G at one desperate battery extending moment.
Now i can't find how to select "4G"??? When i use the preferred network type i only have 2 or 3G as options.
When i search for available networks i get an "error"
Cheers

Well, I just did what you did, and rebooting does not fix it, nor does clearing the data of various apps installed. I'll post this to the CM11 thread and see if any answers or ideas are brought to light.

Many thanks, i saw the post!
Yeah I tried clearing everything. Did a manual reinstall of the APNs using a number of different configs.
Did the wipes ....... did a little dance .... pulled the battery and sim ...... sacrificed a small packet of tofu (no goats, i like goats) The gods of mobility have still not smiled my way.
Wont find networks when i do a search yet am nicely connected, can make calls etc etc.
thanks for trying. If i get no joy will reflash a nightlie and see if it resets?!
Yeah, although wiping the caches didn't do the trick, reflashing a nightly (along with wiping data, cache, and dalvik-cache) should take care of the problem. If you are really attached to your app settings, look into titanium backup for backing up your apps along with their data; it's also the way I save my WiFi passwords.

OK...
If you don't like my dialer solution... I have found 2 xposed mods that do what you want...
Intelli3G... And GravityBox...
They both hook the dialer to force network changes...

Hi, tried the dialer solution and no joy.
Installed INtelli3G but it needs the xposed framework which simply won't install. Have tweaked instal options appropriately so it should???
Mike
EDIT My bad, didn't like installing from bluetooth transfer, downloaded on phone worked .... will test I3G
Fixed
Many thanks rignfool
I installed xposed and Intelli3g and with a bit of mucking around now have 4g back!
Seems to work, have 4g 4 bars!
My initial attempts to force lte caused me to have no coverage (I was at work in North SYd so good LTE normally).
Using the "use all" option in Intelli3g, a reboot and swapping around towers was the trick for me.
Thanks again
Mike
Awesome! Do you want to make a step by step instruction set on how to fix that? I would like to know, and I'm sure a newbie who runs into the save problem would really appreciate it.

Known issue, you just have to be patient until it gets fixed (no one has gotten it to work)
Hi all,
I got a brand new Huawei P20 Pro this week and it keeps falling off my Wi-Fi network, I can't precisely replicate it but it is enough to make me think the phone has a fault.
Has anyone else ever experienced similar? or should I just go straight back to the retailer? :crying:
My P20 Pro kept disconnecting shortly after connecting to WIFI and you could actually see the signal drop to 0 and then back up. The trouble is, when it did go back up it took a few seconds for the access to come back. and I fixed it by dropping my WIFI security down from WPA2-PSK to WPA-PSK.
Oh and I also had the same issue with my Samsung Galaxy S7 edge on Oreo that was sorted out by a Samsung update 6 Months later.
Btw it's not a Virgin Superhub that you are using?

Yup... it is because of their stupidly aggressive battery management. I need to disable/enable wifi at least 50% of the time when I unlock it.
There is no fix. Android 9 beta is no different.
I would recommend to you what I would tell anyone... If you are still in the return period, exchange the phone for something else. They will never sort this issues with this phone. There are just too many, especially considering their crazy slow update history.
I had a similar issue on my P20 Pro and after resetting network configuration the problem is gone, at least temporarily.

How long have you been good since the network config refresh? It's been 26 hours since mine and so far so good.............
I did read on some thread somewhere that it is a fault of Android's "restore" of wifi SSIDs and passwords, if it is that, that would explain why the network config refresh has (at least some sort of) an impact.
Mine has been working fine ever since

Hi,
LG V40 isn't connecting to strong Cell or WiFi signals without a Re-Start ... why?
This has never been a problem before. It's always shown a strong Cell Signal at my house and I've fantastic WiFi speeds at the house too. However, occasionally I"ll notice the phone is slow to load a Website or takes too long to send a large file in a Text, I'll look at the Signal Strength and it shows low Cell Signal and low WiFi Signal, yet I know (and test) them both from another phone and they're as strong as possible.
What is the issue and how can I fix this problem?
Thank you all in advance.
Regards,
Gregory
Almost a week later and not one reply post ! ? !
Guess the heat for LG has faded ... not only for the brand, but for this phone, yet, this phone is still (somewhat) fast, takes all updates and is a good camera.
Well ... I still hope for an answer. I've done a complete Factory Reset without loading ANY apps at all for 3 days and it STILL has this issue.
(... Side Note: It's absolutely AMAZING how long the battery lasts when all the bloatware and junk apps are removed, all non-needed-undeleteable-apps are disabled and there's not one Third Party App ! ! )
I read on another thread it's only happened since 5G started getting activated on towers. I don't understand how one would affect the other, but maybe someone can chime in and clear the air on that.
If I don't get an answer soon, I'll have to check other phones to see if others are having this issue and upgrade to a newer phone.
Hope to hear from someone soon.

I don't have the exact same issue as you, but I have an issue where my data connection doesn't connect when my WiFi is off. So I need to turn on my WiFi before I turn on my data, then only turn off my WiFi. I didn't know this before, and I had to resort to turning on airplane mode, whenever I needed to use my data.
I sent my previous device in for warrany repairs, so my device has a new mainboard, and the issue was on both devices. It has to be a software issue on my variant (LG-V405EB), because I haven't seen any other complaints about it online.

Thanks for the reply Miz Pimp.
The phone was checked out and came back working 100% efficient - but they did say that clearing the phone with a Re-Start will help with connectivity.
I hate that as an answer - but it's something that a Samsung user said they've got to do too.
Feeling less alone regarding this problem, but I'm going to upgrade to a 5G phone early next year when that coverage is expected to get to my area.

That really is a horrible reply. It sucks that we need to do that to get a proper connection. I never had this issue with ANY of my mid-range Huawei devices, so it's pretty annoying that I'd have issues on a flagship.
The System Update 13 from Verizon just installed.
Still the same issue with connectivity damn it! !
I literally shut the phone off and restart to get better reception for several hours .... then the reception will drop to one or two bars, calls have drop-outs and upload/download speeds drop. A Re-Start and it all goes back to full bars and high connectivity speeds.
This does not happen to friends with Pixel's, Sammy's or iPhones.
Looks like the LG has some sort of malfunction ... OR ... it's a program to keep battery life exceptionally long, which it clearly does over my other friends phones who maintain high connectivity rates, yet significantly lower battery life.
I've Mi 9T Pro with MIUI 11 i also tried AOSP ROMs and MIUI 10-12. When i restart my phone mobile network is off and says "No Service" but after a while (sometimes 5 sometimes 30 mins later) mobile network becomes online. I tried everything i even replaced another IMEI but it still same. My SIM works on anothers phones perfectly, other SIMs are same on my phone. First i start using it i didnt care cuz i wasnt really restarting the phone but now some weird things happen. Like after network is on i can connect to LTE and use internet but cant call someone nor they can reach me. It is really weird and strange. If i did everything right IMEI should work perfectly which it does just not right away.
Quick note: I noticed that when im on AOSP ROMs network becomes online much faster but on MIUI it takes a lot longer.
What can i do ? Did anyone experienced something like this ? I started thinking there is something wrong with motherboard now.
EDIT: also forgot to mention that i went to a trip while ago and when im literally at the top of mountains my conection says no service really quick tho my friend with exact same phone with exact same carrier has 4G and can connect to internet even if his net goes he can make calls so
Hmm....stupid question: why do you need to reboot your phone? You shouldn't need to do that but maybe once a week to keep things speedy.

i dont need to do that. I like going around and testing magisk modules new ROMs etc. so i probably restart a lot often than usual user XD but the problem isnt that, i didnt have much problem with this, like i said sometimes even if network is on i cant call anyone but can connect to internet thats what bothers me TBH
I have global Venus mi 11 phone since last security update my phone suddenly shutdown/restart or sometime freeze then auto restart.
Also sometimes force close any app mostly Twitter and YouTube.
Any solution??
Note. Phone not rooted or try not to rooted. And two time factory reseted.
Have this problem too..
Today it restarted for me too...
Happening to me recently too
I had this problem before, and my phone finally bricked 2 months ago. After that, Xiaomi got my bricked mi 11 back, and send me a new phone. You'd better backup the data in case your phone suddenly bricked (or wifi is broken).
Do you have the MIUI 12.5 or 13?
Same here, it happens usualy on mobile internet and while browsing some instagram or fb..
So no one havent find the whats causing the problem or solution to it?
For me it happends only when im on mobile internet for example 4G here in Germany.
It happens usualy when im looking thru Instagram or facebook feed. Its strange and very annoying especialy since I use 4g a lot and need it for travel. Can anyone help? Ive reported it many times but no answers.
To me it happened only once, so all good since then.
msame worries, it was unbearable!! and that since version 15.5.20 Xiaomi.eu
Im still strugling with reboots. It only does on 5G, 4G+, 3G.. I mean on mobile network. On wifi it doesnt happend at all and I think this is problem with lte signals or software. Nothing else.. Has anyone found solution? Im still waiting MIUI 13 for eu version..

No, still happends, everytime when I use mobile internet, on wifi phone rocks, but on 4G it sucks. It happends also to lose mobile network while driving for example when I am in a call and im driving, sometimes phone cant find network but my friend has it.. Its weird problem and I guess there is no solution online.. Will probably destroy this phone because of this, it annoys me a lot.
