I hope I don't get banned - this might look a trivial question, plenty hits on google, searching for months, no one has same problem as me.
I have P30 pro VOG-AL10, chinese version bought online, Toren, uk. I am happy to have all google apps on it, google assistant is speaking english, text to speech is google voice, all perfect.
When I connect Bose bluetooth headset notifications are in english, as they should be. Voice is not google voice, it's not "bose voice", it's not any voice I ever heard on this phone and it's horrible. It's chinese text to speech engine trying to speak english.
I tried every corner of android, every developer option, everything google says - and I can't get rid of chinese speaker that phone uses only while using bluetooth for notifications.
(just to clarify, when using bluetooth headset and use button of "google assistant", language is perfect, it's not google's fault, not bose, It looks like it's somewhere in the phone, some built-in speaker for bluetooth notifications that uses text to speech voice and that one comes from huawei and I can't find a way to change it).
I am really sorry for this stupid question, i hesitated asking for months - but i give up.... anyone has had this problem and knows solution - please help
Thanks
Peter
Why would you get banned for asking for help?
I'm guessing if you have looked everywhere you have seen this setting? (Typing "Speech" or "Voice" into settings search to find all voice settings)

[App request]
Someone posted a request for a development of a TTS ringer... and I posted a request for a TTS notifications app... Not realizing... it's all probably in wrong... forum...
So here is my request to any developer...
Please make my Android Intelligent. Not artificially intelligent, but program-ably intelligent.
This was the original post:
"I would like to hear TTS Notifications linked to any notification I enable.
ex. "Open home download completed", "you have 30 tweets", "USB connected", "You have a text message from XXX, Dictate?"
It may not have artificial intelligence.. but after how many years we have had technology and computers... couldn't we train it to be intelligent for us? You can train a dog to sit... so how come we can't program our phones to verbally say "Plug me in! Battery LOW!", "Open Wifi Signal in range", "So-n-So's birthday is today, bought them a gift?"
That does not require artificial intelligence right?
Why not bring Android toward "Fruition"
Damn... If I had the programming knowledge... I think I'd try this myself..."
I know that it should be hard to do... even if it became a paid app... I would pay for it... even if it sounded like Darth Vader with a dog muzzle... I would pay for it... Garmin has a similar gps.. with homer voice commands... why can't it be done?
TTS Notification/Ringer app.
Notifications are there... Android connects.. calendar... text messages... calls... social apps... alarm... music... system change notifications... why can't we convert them all to TTS? I know there is a way to get my text message read out-load to me using TTS... why can't we turn on a Auto-Notification-reminder toggle with TTS" ? Please take Android to "Fruition"
Thank you in advance.

I have a Moto X Developer version and I use Att prepaid.I don't have data plan. I bought Motox mainly for Touchless control.I know that if we want to ask any question like height of empire state building it needs to connect to internet and get the answers or to get directions u need to connect to internet but just for setting up reminders and making a quick note using a touchless feature it cant be done since by default it looks for internet connection
Any suggestion to accomplish this i.e say "Ok Google Now" and say "set up a reminder at 6pm to call brother" and it should setup a reminder with no data plan and no wifi turned on.
If it works like siri then it connects to the internet and uses the servers to recognize what you said.
Nope, sorry.

This exactly, the trigger word is one thing, decoding what you said is a whole different ball game.

Form what you say it cant be done.Hope some one creates a app so that we can use it on motox or a phone with X8 architecture which can open a voice memo and record what we say, open reminder and set reminder, set alarm etc etc without internet connection.
Owner of an S4A and I love the phone, it convinced me to leave iphone for good.... until now. I recently installed a new head unit in my truck a Sony XAV-601bt, and when the bluetooth audio connects it asks to complete some action but i don't know what it is. No matter what i do music calls etc work fine on the head unit but for some reason my phone forgets the default launcher (nova launcher) and default music player (rocket) and default SMS app (gosms). I've exhausted google search looking for anything that resets app defaults and only found app managers etc, and i've not found anything related to the radio.
My question is this is there a way to find out what action is being executed so that I can find the correct app for it? I'm thinking that without that action it's causing strangeness with the rest of the phone
here is the screen i get when the phone pairs to the head unit

You need 25 posts before you can post pics or links on XDA. My S4A works fine with my Sony head unit on my Harley. The first time it connected it asked if it could access my contacts. If you somehow skipped that step that might be your problem. You also mentioned what you say are default apps, but those sound like the names of non-stock apps. You may have set them as the defaults, but they may not work properly with other devices expecting to interface with the apps as the phone came from Samsung.
Having a quick, portable voice transcription system would be a great help at work.
I work in the medical field and frequently need to transcribe medical terms like drug names and procedures (e.g. Xarelto and pancreaticoduodenectomy).
The "online" google assistant recognizes almost all the terms I use with no difficulty. I worry that the "built-in" recorder / transcription app may not have as robust a vocabulary. Anyone use the new recorder app and have success with obscure words? Any way to add uncommon words?

I think it might actually do well.

Thank you! I have had this phone in my cart for a week. Now to decide on Black or Panda. Thank you!
I have an issue with google assistan on mI 9.
it often starts without saying "ok google" or "hey google" and it can also be starting with a voice other than mine.
any possible fix without completly disabling the voice activation?
The only workaround for me. Set all KI Buttons to none

it's not about the buttons, it gets voice activated wich I like.
what I don't like is that it's getting activated randomly without saying the phrase and it can get activated by any male voice whatsoever.
It's actually a feature rather than an issue. If you read carefully, upon activation it already explains everything that might happen, including but not limited to using someone else's voice to trigger it, provided the phrase and tone is similar enough (the threshold is rather low, making it highly insecure, that's why it's not suitable as an unlocking option) to your recorded voice. There's no way YOU can fix it, only Google can, and that's if they want to.
how is it a feature when it only happens on MI 9? and even at random without the phrase being mentioned
It is not a feature, it's more like a bug. It only does it in the mi9, it doesn't do it in my Tab S4 or LG Stylo 4.
I'm having the same problem and opted to turn it off. I was watching a video on YT and somebody said "call 911", and the mi9 was ready to make the call.
