Hello,
I want to buy the K20 pro from aliexpress but can not decide which version to buy, the Chinese or the Global.
Does it make a difference which version I pick, if I wipe the device anyway?
Or do I need the Global version for LTE to fully functioning in Germany?
Thanks in advance

This is a k20 pro chinese which means no band 20 for lte
You check google and some sites to know the bands you need
But you will either choose global rom ( with unlocked bootloader by the seller ) or chinese rom with locked bootloader
The one that has band 20 is the mi 9t pro
The mi 9t pro doesnot have a 256GB version till now as far as I know so for sure this is a k20 pro missing the band 20
For me in my country, we donot have band 20 used and if I travelled to an area where it is a must I will use 3g instead but if I am living in a band 20 area then it is a must

One german user bought the Global version from aliexpress and posted a screenshot of the system information in the comments on aliexpress. It shows Mi 9t pro.
Did someone on here bought the phone from aliexpress and can confirm that band 20 and lte are working?
Buy Global version. B20 may definitely come in handy especially in Europe. You can buy it here: https://www.eglobalcentral.de/xiaom...ne-sim-lock-redmi-k20-pro-carbon-schwarz.html or here: https://www.wondamobile.com/xiaomi-mi-9-pro-hk-global-version-256-gb-unlocked.html
I bought it in the first shop
Versions from AliExpress are just normal K20 Pro without B20 support, even if they have flashed global rom
Definitly buy global version ( with b20 support) for germany , because you will see diference in rural areas where german operators use b20 band for 4g, lte coverage. I have k20 pro chinese ver and sometimes i dont have 4g,lte in those places.

Are you sure about this? I thought eglobal and wondamobile just import the same unlocked global version like on aliexpress (Redmi K20 pro) from Hongkong.

Yes I'm sure. Xiaomi released Global 8/256 version but only in HongKong. It supports B20 100%
They even say they released 8/256 M Mi 9T Pro on their page: https://www.mi.com/global/mi-9-t-pro/specs
Also here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=80449693&postcount=116

I totally get your point, that's why I created this thread in the first place.
But how do you know, that the global version from aliexpress does not have the b20 band, but the global version from eglobal or wandamobile have the b20 band?

Honestly i'm not 100% sure but i've checked opinions about some of the more popular offers and they all said that it's just K20 Pro with flashed global ROM - not true Mi 9T Pro Global version and also I can't really find such offer that would explicitly say it's a global version with such specs. Either Mi 9T Pro 6/128 or K20 Pro 8/256 with flashed Global ROM (but still without B20)

If the system information screen says 'Mi 9t pro', then the phone would 100% have the B20 band, correct?

well as far as i know, not really. After all it could be normal K20 Pro with flashed Global ROM. If you flash that rom it will change name according to the region. You would have to check if the device has locked or unlocked bootloader. If it has locked BL and name Mi 9T Pro then it's very possible it's a model with B20 support because you can't lock a bootloader on K20 Pro with flashed global rom.

Ok, thanks pal. Then I'll go with the 6/128GB version from eglobal. It's the more safe option.
I also think this is good enough hardware for a casual user anyway.

The Mi 9T Pro 8GB/256GB is on sale at the moment and 20€ cheaper.

Hi,
I'm french and I need your help to make a choice between a Mi 9T Pro, a K20 Pro Global or a K20 Pro China.
I already now how to root, flash etc. but I'm not sure if it's more interesting to buy a K20 Pro in China version to flash a cleen Global Rom or to buy a K20 Pro in Global version which need to flash a China firmware before flash a Global Rom.
What should I do ?
Thanks

If you don't need HD streaming in Netflix, no Banking apps, and band 20 (or other global bands), then Chinese variant can be an option, probably cheaper than other variants.

If you’re tight on budget then buying K20 Pro Chinese model would be the cheapest option. If you have those extra bucks, then go for Mi 9T Pro. You could also buy the K20 Pro global version but that is only sold in India for now. All those chinese sellers claiming to sell you a Global variant are just fake. It would be a Chinese K20 Pro with a fake global rom on it.
You could anytime flash a Global rom on the Chinese unit but the only caveat is that you’ll have to keep the boot loader unlocked forever.

The biggest thing to consider is probably if you need LTE band 20.
The Chinese version will be considerably the cheapest option.
Even though the phone display is FHD+, you really won't see any benefit in watching FHD contact on the phone, so having Widevine L1 is not really worth worrying about.
You can overcome most security issues with banking apps buy using Magisk and installing appropriate modules to pass safety net.
If you decide to go with a Chinese phone, then it would probably be best to get it with the Chinese ROM and then unlock the phone yourself, then you are safe should you accidentally relock the phone later.
The main questions is this:
Those of you who have bought K20 Pro and are using it in Europe or somewhere else, are you facing significant drops in LTE signal? Please specify if you live in city or rural area.

So if I buy a K20 Pro I will never relock the bootloader ? Should it be a problem for something ? I actually never relocked a bootloader on my previously phones.

The problem with the unlocked bootloader is that it causes the phone to fail the SafetyNet test. Many banking apps won't work if it fails SafetyNet checks.
Using certain Magisk modules can hide the fact the bootloader is unlocked from the SafetyNet checks.

There is no global K20 Pro, only Chinese and Indian. The Mi 9T Pro is what is sold globally. Just install the Mi 9T Pro global ROM found here https://forum.xda-developers.com/k20-pro/how-to/rom-miui-10-global-t3963699/post80169909

Those ROMs, from top to bottom are Chinese, European, global, Indian and Russian.
I guess the Russian release is due soon if the ROM has already appeared.
The European, Indian and Russian ROMs are slightly modified versions of MIUI global and so are considered as global ROMs by Xiaomi.
Edit: just took anther look and, going off the file names, I guess they aren't full ROMs, looks like someone packaged up the latest vendor and firmware images into a single recovery zip for each model.
Cannot see the point of this. The k20 pro is cheaper then the mi9t pro. Normally people want to go the other way around flashing global to a a k20 pro.
If you want chinese just get the k20 pro and get rid off the mi9t??? ;p
yes you can, make sure you already unlocked your bootloader
is there any difference between these two apart from ROM? Will chinese k20 pro NFC work when I flash a custom rom?
asking because will buy one soon, k20 is cheaper but I've seen on gsmarena that k20pro nfc works only in china and that's basically the only thing that would force me to choose it over 9tpro

You can use it with the Chinese ROM. Not sure where this has come from that it only works in China. The issue is more about tap to pay apps don't work on the Chinese ROM. I know GPay doesn't play with Chinese MIUI, but not sure what else doesn't.
Once you've installed a custom ROM, then it's irrelevant (obviously excluding Indian models) which version of the phone you have. Any fixes required to get financial and tap to pay apps will work on all models with NFC hardware.

Yes.. both official stable global and eea.
Be aware of the differences between the Chinese K20Pro and the Indian.
Chinese: no band 20, no widevine L1 after flashing non stock rom
Indian: no NFC, no band 20, no widevine L1 after flashing non stock rom.
Also there are hardware differences between the K20Pro and the 9T Pro.
Read very well all topics around flashing forward and back from stock to different Rom's and disregarding some don'ts put many here with a bricked or semi-bricked phone!!!

The only known hardware difference between all models is that the Indian model does not have the NFC coil. Otherwise they are identical.

No hardware/software wise band 20 is not there and it is a Qualcomm firmware thingy that blocked band 20 for all K20(Pro).
You can flash any Rom that you want but on as well the Indian as the Chinese K20(Pro) band 20 is not available.

Yes, but that is firmware, like your say. Physical hardware is the same, it's the firmware (software) controlling it that is different.
Hi respectful developers,
I bought Redmi K20 Pro from Australia, on the back of the device it is labelled as Redmi K20 pro but in the about phone section it is Mi 9T pro as prior to exporting it to Australia, exporters unlocked the bootloader and installed the global MIUI 10 (see snapshots).
Now the question, will this device in my hand get MIUI11 and Android 10? If yes, when? Will this update revert the device to the Chinese MIUI 11 ROM? If yes, how to get the official global MIUI 11 for the Redmi K20 pro?
I am currently residing in Egypt and would very much appreciate your good technical assistance.

Basically they flashed 9T global ROM in your K20 pro. Which further means the bootloader is unlocked, if yes, you will still get OTAs when they arrive and you will be able to install them, OTA will come of same ROM and not of a different region so rest assured you won't go back to chinese.
HOWEVER. If you will use miflash tool to flash any other region's ROM, MAKE SURE you DON'T check on CLEAN ALL AND LOCK option in bottom right corner. Only check CLEAN ALL. This is because locking a bootloader with different region ROM installed bricks your phone.

Hello
I am a bit lost as it is the first time I buy a Chinese phone. In the box my OP is clearly Chinese as everything is in Chinese and the version shown on the box is "NE2210"
That is clear to me and the seller told me as well so no question about.
When I see my device version it shows "NE2215" and I am not sure witch version is this one. Is it American European or other different one?
The version shown is precisely NE2215_11_C.21
I would like to have the European version if possible because I live in Spain.
I was checking about the bands as well and apparently the Chinese version has all the bands that Spanish companies use in 3,4 and 5g
Is there anything I have wrong and I can change or any perception mistake I should know.
Thank you for any answer in advance.
