Hi all.
Anybody knows if Ubuntu Touch for Galaxy S 4 Active is being made?
Can we use the standard galaxy S4 build, if they manage to get it working on their system?
It is basically the same (same Processor, sound device, etc.), except for the camera.
I am willing to give 10 USD to the person who creates the first working beta
(I know its not much, but i am a student, so i dont have much money right now.. )
All the best,
Toby

It also has a different screen amongst other things, meaning it needs a different kernel - different drivers. I wouldn't hold my breath on ANY more roms coming to the i9295. It simply didn't gain enough traction!

Thanks for the pick me up
But shouldnt all that needs changing be the blobs for the CM build?
Since Ubuntu touch relies on CyanogenMod to work, and since we have a pretty stable CM rom going, couldnt we just use the blobs from the i9505 build with minor adjustments to get going?
or have i misunderstood the build process?

Heh, yes I'm a bit bitter. I'm planning to sell my active and get a nexus 5 instead thanks to the lack of developments, so I can't help but rub it in a bit on the way out. While there's been some upswing lately for the i537 thanks to safestrap, none of that translates to the i9295.

Well, I'm using the CM build from this forum as my daily user, and "pretty stable" is a good description. Not stable enough really, and the most pressing issue is the lack of official CM support to make it so. I don't know how easy it is, but quite obviously there's more to it than you'd think or it would have happened already. Samsung is (apparently) notorious for not making it easy in any way, so... I wouldn't hold out hope. Not since this device turned out to be so slowly adopted that there just doesn't seem to be enough developers interested.
Perhaps this will change over the year to come, but I doubt it, and I for one don't have time for it.

No, of course it is not easy, but what i was saying is, that when the i9505 gets going, which i believe it will, since they have been working on it for about a month now, i believe it could "easily" be converted to the i9295.
The i9505 is a lot more similar to the i9295 than the i537, they both share the same Krait processor, and the screen is already fully supported in the current CM build of the i9295, so i dont see that as a problem.
Of course it will take some time, but i believe (okay, a better word would be "hope") that when the i9505 has Ubuntu Touch ready, it will not take long for us.

Hello everyone, I invite you to this talk to discuss this topic
Did the Galaxy S Advance came to an end?
I have seen many developers are abandoning the Janice and migrating to other devices, it is very normal, everyone wants a change sometimes
but I worry that we're running out ROMs, I understand that this device is 2 years old but I think he had very little time to live
Anyone else think the same? please I would like to leave your opinion on this topic.

Fact is that we do not have any active developer any more. Just look at our Development section. And I am afraid that we can't do anything about that.

Maybe there'll be some revival with coming lolipop? As I know (not really into this) TC did their job bottom up, so all we need now is some talented kid to step up and learn a bit and prepare for coming OS.:fingers-crossed:

What about vickiushu ?
What about AntresOne (he still is a dev but for other device) ?
Wysłane z mojego nexusowego tablecika.....
i believe we must understand and accept the scenario right now, right from the beginning this device has been struggling for some serious development due to lack of sources , but our capable and smart devs made efforts and as a result we had a variety of popular roms ported to our phone, but sad thing is the transition has been huge since this phone was launched, so its natural and logical for the devs to switch to other devices and for those who are still having the phone have fear of left alone but dont worry guys i think the devs are kind enough to continue bringing good stuff if anything major happens, although not frequently as it used to be
if we have only one good rom with support, we are done there is no need of many roms if that cannot happen according to me...
infacf even we too might eventually switch to a new device sooner or later
so chill, the change thats happening is natural and quite obvious, i just hope we continue to get support for aospa and cm ,

built from sources* NOT ported.
Guys, don't cry and think a bit at past of s avance ! You know, you can't improve a phone day by day, forever. It has an end due hardware limitation.Who thought that s advance will run cm10.2/11 ? Who tought that we will overclock cpu and gpu? Everyday we opened xda (at least me ) to see if cm10.2/cm11 was released.Let's see what we got until now:
1.Cm 10
2.Cm 10.1
3.Cm 10.2
4.Cm 11
5.Cocore kernel,overclocking cpu + gpu
6.Many roms
What you want more???Overclock to 2.0 Ghz? lol.Is hardware limitation. Also, maybe it can't run Android L.
We got everything is possible for our phone and it was improved alot from stock thanks to our developers. If i would have money,i will donate to them, they deserve.Without them, probably we sold our phone in 1 year. So, every phone has an end.
PS: i forgot to mention that our roms are FULLY WORKING

i didnt mean port in winzip method of ported i said that they ported cm etc unofficially as they are called unofficial ports and i am not questioning anybody's hardwork point here is different
and of android L don't be so negative, at the time of kitkat people used to say the same thing but we got it running, so don't predict anything before devs say anything crude after its full launch...
having said that i am not demanding anything i am just being optimistic as everything that this device got was more than expected and a surprise and i am happy with what we have for now

never said we want more ROMs, The community achieved since earlier this year and was the difference in the ROMs that came and is grateful to Team Canjica!
But as TPD-21 said, you have to let everything flow as it should
Hello developers.Dont want to be annyoing but I'm new to this devicee and i kinda like it and tried lots and lots of roms for it, and you know that android L/Lollipop is coming soon out, and i want to ask if anyone is gonna like port it to our device because i know some really good developers like the major tonyp and other ones.So if yes i would be really really hyped for it like many other lol
i think that for the reply we have to wait CM12(?)sources comes out,but as i understood in the past our phone is supporting kitkat with a base that starts from ics sources,so we must wait and maybe isn't possible to port, but also for me it will be interesting if the devs can port a rom with lollipop.By the way i was thinking that we are running also some old version of the gapps to make it work with our device due to missing neon support(like youtube or google search for ex.),so don't know if it's possible

We had to wait 3 months for CM11 M1 to come out after KitKat was released, and knowing that Lollipop is quite a large overhaul and that it fully uses the ART runtime, we can expect a larger delay for CM12 M1. And even when it comes out, it will be almost featureless. As far as I know, Lollipop sources haven't been yet released, so we'll have to wait and see.
Second, yes, we are running on old ICS sources, so unless the 3.x kernel becomes super stable so we can use newer drivers, if they are available for our device, we'll have a bad time.
Third, this is a subforum for Development Discussion, so this kind of thread is more welcomed in the General Discussion section or even Q&A.
Keep on modding Other than that, KitKat development has been quite amazing in the last few months, and considering that the O2X is a device released in 2011, we are more than been blessed regarding this device. Ludnica, brate, ludnica.
Jes jes hahaha. Well whatever happens we will maybe be able to get something of it.I will try my best.I dont rly know much about coding but i know some stuff and i am learning every day more and more so yeah.I hope if we all combine our inteligence we will get something.
Oh and the sources should be out on i think November 5th
Testing Platform available
I like the idea of L for P990. I recently bought a new phone. That spares my P990 for testing full time as I have another phone for regular use. Please let me should you like to test anything, I will happily share the results. The least I can do to aid further development.
Hello, any working Note7 port rom to N920p Note 5 Sprint.
Thanks.
Damn no response this sucks for us
Sent from my SM-N920P using XDA-Developers mobile app
Please, some support for sprint, or a guide to flash any n7 port room and a working kernel combination, any help, very apreciated.
I coming from verizon note 5, no look with root, now got rooted on sprint, but no note 7 port.
I second this. I've tried countless times to flash a N7 port and tweak it to work. We're all at a loss as I guess the SM-N920P isn't getting much love any longer!
Alright, I know how all you guys feel as i have the n920p as well. I'm going to give some constructive advice here.
Stop waiting and start learning. NOW. There are HUGE strides being made in the sprint note 4 forums. Here I'll even get you started down the path.

While my presence is not well known on xda, I've been around for a while. I'm more active on telegram helping on the back end of ARISE. I'm also working on a n920p specific note 7 port for us.
The thing is that I'm learning every single thing as I go ALONE. Im not a dev and I refuse to ask skilled developers to take time from their projects to teach me things that i can search for on xda and Google. So don't expect or look for my port any time soon. Im a noob too unfortunately, that's just how it is.
If you are sick of not having options i just gave you one. Start working and stop waiting for others to rescue the n920p. If you are competent enough to flash a custom recovery, root your device, etc then you are also competent enough to read the basics and apply them to our ****ty Sprint situation.
I apologize if i sound like a complete ****, but at some point on a development website you are going to have to, you know, work on developing something or solving a problem.
2. Second option is to get upset and wait for something that's never going to come.
if you guys have better ideas please feel free to share.
my. 02 cents on the n920p.

Aurora boots and gets some sort of data connection.
I will go ahead and warn you that the porting process for the N7 UX software is quite intense. There is so many things that you will have to figure out the hard way. Updater-script, build.prop, libraries, apns, csc, framework files, porting of system apps, the list goes on. Now that I have already figured everything out, I know I can do it for the N5 but the problem is time. I am still working out minor kinks with my N7 port for our N4. When I get my rom finished for the most part I will get with you guys and see where you're at with your own N7 port for the Sprint N5 and if you haven't finished it by then I will build it out from memory and send it over here in the Sprint N5 forum. Sorry that I can't put aside my current project and start on another. I'd never get anything done this way. Just know that the biggest issues will be fingerprint scanner and AOD bug which both are dificult to fix. Keep this in mind if you rely heavily on fingerprint scanner for lockscreen, etc. Then again it may be easier to fix for the N5.

I've been meaning to shoot you a message. I've pretty much read every single post you have made on N4 data fixs. There are a few others but it's 5am.....lol Man don't apologize for working smart.for your users. I said in another thread I will not ask for any other developer to drop their time and projects to help someone who has just grasped the basics. It's too much to ask of devs already over loaded. I've got too much on my plate right now too, but I've been spending LOTS of spare time at first with attempting to dive into a data fix for current ports that will boot.
Recently I just decided to attempt to port my own based on our firmware. 100% correct this is no walk in the park. You will prob be done light years before me.
If anyone is working on the same basic N920p N7 port and wants a hand I can dedicate some time and limited knowledge to help out. I can throw a telegram group together (here https://telegram.me/n7ton920p ) if anyone in this thread wants is interested in trying to get things working or has news of some something to look into.
Oh, I had an ATT note 4 and it was dead in the water with the boot loader locked. It was such a capable device I'm glad it's getting some good development.

That's not going to work on Sprint network though. Even those China cdma N7 ports are setup different than the Sprint variants. And forget about the gsm ports, they're nowhere close to being setup for Sprint cdma. Everything in framework & system that is related to telephony must be setup specifically for Sprint or else you will be fighting it forever and still not get it working right. Sprint has it's own codes/strings in smali throughout the rom. Start with the Sprint N7 & N5 tarballs ans build it with that. I have the latest Sprint N7 tarball I just need to get the latest Sprint N5 tarball and I can put the port rom together. It just takes time to redo the build.prop & updater-script and make the modifications. Then there's the issue of me not having a N5 to test. I'd have to build it from my experience then get somebody to test for me. The fact that the N5 is a 64bit device will help a lot. There won't be any need to port apps like i have to do for the N4. I'll see what I can do.

I've got both tar balls too. I pretty much gave up on those ports after reading what you were saying about the gsm network stuff. I'm learning to port roms with this being my first one. Trail by fire much lol?
If you want to throw it together I'll be happy to test it for you. Anyone who joins the telegram group will be happy to test it as well. Like I said finish your rom for your users first. If you want to and can throw a quick port together all of us n5 guys would be really appreciative. No worries either way.
I installed Lamlazy v7.1 n7 port.
And its working, minor bugs so far.
Hello,
I've been missing for quite a long time from XDA, but I'm about to get a new phone soon (maybe another OnePlus?) and I came here to check for new custom ROMs updates.
But it seems I cannot find any custom ROM for the OnePlus 10 Pro (yet?), why is that?
Thanks for the info.
No msm unbrick tool, no sources and so on.
Oneplus sucks every phone a little bit more! 10 pro is definitely my last OP phone
You can try GSI roms, but they're buggy (e.g. fingerprint sensor is not working)
Also you cannot unbrick your phone unless you send it to 1+ which makes development hard
Source tree is different default compilable sources.i hope someone could port it.
All of the above! Everything is different now a days with "all" OEM's, Google, Carrier's, etc.
But if some motivated Developers get the device, then who knows what mods will come our way....
Also, Magisk Modules are the modding wave !
Cheers

There are already custom ROM for Xiaomi 12/Pro which also use Snapdragon 8 gen 1 so maybe there's luck but OnePlus sources are lacking and I asked Luke1337 and he is not interested in blind building since he ain't got the device.

It's truly a sad time to be an android user....
But i've got a little thought in the back of my head that i can't shake, i think things will change.
No idea how it'll happen, may take a while, maybe after the release of the T / R 10 devices.
Time will tell, but yep it's certainly a crap time for Android; when a google flagship and oneplus devices don't have a single official ROM (pixel has AOSP unofficial afaik) it's time to re-evaluate your purchases a lot more carefully.

Yeah, I remember the old times here on XDA, there was so many threads proposing many different flavors.
I used to flash and try new ROMs almost everyday...
Now I have to get a new phone, I came here to check and I've realized it all changed.
It's even hard to find ROMs for Google Pixels and OnePlus phones, I don't know what happened but it's kinda frustrating...
Guys just relax and give some time for developers.good news for sm8450 chipset is someone ported device and vendor tree for Xiaomi phones.i hope not far our phones .just relax.

Honestly mate, I've had enough phones to know that it should have happened by now.
I'm very patient, no problem in waiting, but every single OnePlus device has had several ROMs by this point bar none

Don't worry, we are just talking and comforting each other...
But well, I remember ROMs used to be posted here (almost) even before phones were available to be bought.
And since it seems that Google Pixels too lack of ROMs, I have a feelings things has changed lately somehow... but we all hope you are right man!
Why do you need google roms? are they better?
Otherwise it finds 2-3 threads about to change to global or EU version.
But that is not you want?

Google has made a lot of changes to the OS that just make everything a headache for custom ROM devs so that's not helping. The writing is on the wall for the Android ROM community and once Google finally forces hardware attestation the inability to easily hide root or unlocked bootloaders at all will kill off a lot more interest. The future of mobile phones is one of two separate walled gardens.

The only issue is erofs partitions. Everything else can be edited to change values. Maybe devs will have to find a way to make the rw. That's the issue I see for the future. But pa said they made a build with erofs for op7 so maybe they are looking into it.

There's also the fact that A/B partitions lead to plenty of bricks and the devs get blamed for it plus the issues that come with AVB 2.0, manufacturers not releasing full kernel sources... It's all a circus.
