Yes such a great phone just got it for $625 from south korea but only problem can't get it to connect to a 5G network here in my area even though frequency bands are compatible

That sucks...
Does your area has coverage?

Yeah i was figuring that firmware region change would solve the problem but no global firmware is out
Yes my area covers 5G.

Well, I hope that samsung releases a firmware that would allow you to connect to 5g..
In my area only one provider supports 5g but it's very expensive, so I will wait for more providers that will have cheaper 5g

Thank you sir
Yeah usually expensive even here too high but i got a no commitment contract i cancel anytime with no extra fees.
I'm testing it with the Huawei 5G CPE Pro H370 Router
So far geeting Down 550 Mbps Up around 60 Mbps max to 11 Mbps min.
Will test different areas for the sake of my crazy OCD in speed tests :silly:

I got the A90 5g as a contract upgrade about a week ago. I have unlimited 5g data as part of my plan but don't currently have 5g in my area until early 2020, so can't comment on the 5g but I managed to unlock the boot loader and root it. I will attempt to create custom recovery for it but that will take much longer.

That's great news, thanks for working on this phone

I will post a quick guide later tonight.
As far as the phone itself. I love (nearly) everything about it. The screen is large, the display looks great and is bright, the cameras are the best I've used (although I'm no expert by any means), it runs really smooth. Even some of the Samsung bloat is useful like game launcher. The battery is fantastic, charging time is very fast. Gaming performance is A++ with the flagship CPU.
"Bad" things....6gb of ram, I had a RAZR phone with 8gb and you can tell the difference. I see they released a version with 8gb but alas mine isn't.
The fingerprint sensor doesn't seem to work as well in the screen as opposed to on the side or back where I'm used to it.
I also got this phone for "free" with my contact, I wouldn't exactly call £700 gbp mid range and I certainly would not have bought this on sim only. The Asus ROG would have been my choice with much better specs and a cheaper price tag albeit losing the 5g.

I managed to unlock the boot didn't root yet, still KT telecom bloatware on it it's annoying me even when i power up 5G KT logo stickin at bottom I just want to use my 5G package it's only giving me around 150+/- Mbps showing LTE+ i think it's network locked. Guess i have to wait for the global firmware or middle east cuz i reside their atm :crying: otherwise like what you said an awesome phone only downside 6GB RAM.
Thanks for sharing

Have to disagree with the ram comment. I also had and still have my Razer. The most ram i seemed to have in use on the Razer was around 3Gb meaning 4-5Gb Ram was just sat there... On my A90 theres still 2.1Gb of ram still not being used. The battery management miles better on the A90 than the Razer. The 120Hz LCD screen ate the battery after the last update (9) whereas the OLED panel is brilliant on the A90. DPI and resolution not as high as the Razer, but the overall picture still looks better on the A90. I do miss the Dual Dolby Atmos speakers on my Razer but the "Free Galaxy Buds" sound brilliant.

Is it a good time too buy the P10 now

With all the news going around Huawei's false advertisement relating to the storage chip and the ram, is there news about what Huawei will decide to do, or are they still going quiet.
I'm still interested in getting the P10, but not knowing what i'll get. For those who does who have crap version, is there any noticable differences in normal daily use.
I'm open to suggestions, otherwise I have to decide whether to get the S8 or G6, but I prefer the P10 over those two.
Thanks
I think models in Europe should mostly have ufs storage. As for the ram, I've read that the kirin 960 cpu only supports lpddr4 type memory.
At the moment I have a p10, single sim 64gb version and have ufs memory, speeds are just shy of 700mb/s. Before I had an s7 edge.
I can say only this about my p10, it is BY FAR the fastest android phone that I have used. And I have used many. It rivals the iPhone 7, even beating it in some cases.
About the emmc version, I have watched a speed test between a xiaomi mi6 with ufs 2.1 and the xiaomi was faster by about 3 seconds at the end of the app opening test. They opened about 15 apps one after another and measured the total time.
Where they comparing the Xiaomi device to a eMMC device? Otherwise it's not comforting anyone getting a eMMC device
I am from Hong Kong, and we have the dual sim version, although I can check many phones at the shop, but I am not able to do this for the Huawei.
Will there be a really big differences between the memory used.

Yes, they were using a p10 with emmc memory. The speed difference was minor compared to mi6 with ufs 2.1.

I do not think there is much of a difference. Maybe only when copying large files.
Apple has done this with the iPhone 7 also. The baseline iPhone 7 and 7+ with 32gb of internal storage have about three times slower read/write speeds than the ones with 128/256.
Better to wait a month more for newer batches and less rush, so that the device comes with olephobic coating and UFS 2.1. However i don't expect a drop in price although might catch some temporary offers.
Thanks, got one locally and a brief testing, i get UFS 2.0, i'm happy with it, as long as it's not eMMC, even my sony Xperia XP is eMMC, and it's works well for me, although i traded it for the P10.
Is there a problem with WiFi speed on the P10? I saw some reviewers complaining about WiFi performance being way inferior compared to other 2017 and 2016 devices. Like P10 barely reaching 30mbit download speeds on 100 and more Mbit networks.

Thanks for the answer.
Is it a 5Ghz or 2.4Ghz network? My current device - OnePlus 3 performs very good on 5Ghz but on 2.4Ghz it only reaches maybe 20mbit. And I use a 150Mbit broadband link at home. My wife's iPhone 6s easily tops 100mbit on the same WiFi.
The issues that some YouTube reviewers reported with the P10 looked like the one I have with my OP3.
I am considering an upgrade to P10 and I really want it to be an upgrade
Ufs 2.0
Not bothered about the silly bollocks thing as this p10 is the best phone iv had, certainly the fastest, coming from owning every HTC flagship since 2011

My first Huawei, and I really like it, choose this over the S8 and G6, it's a shame the pink version isn't available in Hong Kong, we only have the blue, black silver and gold, whiles china also have a pink and green, anyway, I intend to change the metal back, it's readly available in china very cheap, and seeing youtube, it's also very easy to change.
Also I get 42Mbps with 2.4Ghz and over 98Mbps with 5Ghz in wifi.
Not recommended to buy, I think xiaomi 6 more affordable

it's down to personal preferences really, Mi 6 don't have a headphone jack and no micro SD card slot.
I've also owned a few flagships from HTC, Samsung and even iPhone.
Must admit that the P10 still is one of the quickest phones I've used. Battery does well, charging is quick.
Camera is fun to use and crisp. Fingerprint scanner is lightning fast. And I very much like the design of the phone.
Could've gone without EMUI, but given the opportunity to buy another P10 or a different flagship, I'd still opt for the P10.
I have 200/80 connection here in Bangkok. The P10 hits maximum with 5G connection. I find my 3 year old Samsung Galaxy Tab S hits consistently better speeds from further away, when compared to the P10. Hence, I use 2.4G when I am downstairs.

Recent year Mi phones has become cheaply made and cost has increased, only their red mi has the cheap price.

Anandtech review of the S9/S9+ shows S845 is much faster than E9810

Very interesting read!
https://www.anandtech.com/show/12520/the-galaxy-s9-review
If Samsung doesn't fix this I'll sell my S9
Really wanted to buy one but I'm not going to as long as this issue is not fixed.
Fix what? It looks like any performance "fix" will be accompanied by loss of battery life anyway. There is a slim possibility that scheduler/governor could be improved somewhat, but that will not change the underlying hardware characteristics that much, meaning the gain from such a fix will not be significant and you will still pay a hefty battery cost..
Like i said in the comments there, i believe most of the deductions from that test will not impact your day to day life. Information is great, but one must know when you need a "summary" and when a "thesis"
I am still buying this beauty next month and i am sure i would be satisfied.

Whenever a load is transferred from LITTLE cores to the big cores, SD845's big cores start at the max frequency while E9810's big cores start at the lowest frequency (and then increase gradually if load continues to be active).
If the load is of a longer nature (beyond 450ms iirc) then E9810 wins the race; but for short and burst loads the SD845 wins the race due to starting at max frequency.
So no, scheduler fix will not improve just somewhat; it will improve the performance substantially.
Sure, that might come with a battery hit since it will be a choice between 'a longer running load at lower power' vs 'a shorter running load at high power'; we will know better about battery drains when we get results from having used such a scheduler.
The way that exynos takes that long to ramp up the cpu, its like the only way one ever gets to 'experience' it in full speeds is synthetic benchmarks.
I was pumped coming from Snapdragon devices and thought the general consensus was that Exynos chips were typically better than Snapdragon. I'm saving to buy the Exynos version, but then a few of the big Youtubers ran speedtests of SD845 and 9810 and it seemed like the 845 generally performed better.
And after reading the anadtech article and battery life being worse (which is huge to me because I want the regular S9 and not the plus) I guess Snapdragon all the way.

I think general every day battery life depends on a lot more than just benchmarking. I have both the exynos and snapdragon S9 with me right now and the exynos gets better battery life after 1 day of use. I just got the phone yesterday but both starting with a 100% charge and using both pretty equal amounts and doing testing and web surfing etc... my exynos has about 10% more right now. Driving to work yesterday my SD845 phone drained 14% with the screen off and not even music playing. Honestly coming from a Pixel 2 XL they both kinda suck hard on battery life. The SD version was dying in half a day of light use for me. I got through the rest of the day yesterday with the exynos which is doable but ill have to keep chargers all around to make sure it stays charged on heavy use days.
Edit: On a side note if you decide to get the exynos and you use T-Mobile you may want to wait because I get horrible reception and slow internet speeds. I dont know why sicne it supports every band for LTE except 71 but the snapdragon version is significantly better and much faster on tmobile network. Maybe there are settings I can change. IDK.

I would really like to have Band 71. I thought I saw a post from someone who was getting conflicting answers from Samsung if B71 was in the international unlocked version. However then he posted and said he received it and sure enough found B71 in it. But now it's looking like I'll just bite the bullet and get the T-Mo SD845 version. Would have be nice to have an unlocked bootloader.

How can you find out if it has Band 71 on it? I can test side by side my US and international verison and the US version gets about 30-40mbps and right beside it is the international getting about 1.5-3mbps max. Soemthing is obviously wrong with the settings or the radio on the international to be doing that bad on tmobile. Its not bad location. Something is just missing either software, hardware or settings but I just odnt know. Id love to make this thing work.

I've been holding out on an upgrade for the S9, but this is concerning (I use T-Mobile).
Snapdragon is a non-option for me as having proper backup (aka Titanium) is IMO a bare essential. Now after having seen reviews that the S9 Exynos' battery life is even worse than the S8's, I'm wondering if I should just get the S8 instead. Anyone have any thoughts - S8 Exynos or S9 Exynos? If that Anandtech article's results are at all representative of what to expect, does it not seem silly to pay more for a newer phone that's a *downgrade* in battery life? Or maybe I just need to wait a bit longer for the kinks to get worked out? I mean, if it can really only do 1.5mbps on T-Mobile...ummm....

Ok well I did so many things to try and fix this and SOMETHING worked. Im now getting pretty much full speed although still not quite as good as teh US version for some reason although very very close. I went to Tmobile and got a new sim card in case this one was damaged or soemthing. i also played around with the APN settings and restarted several times. Something jolted the phone into working. SO when I test the two phones side by side now the US version might get 21mbps and the international 18mbps. Again the US will get 31mbps and the international 26mbps. US 13mbps and international 11mbps. The US version is always just slightly ahead. I drove around town and found some low reception spots where the US version was getting 2mbps and the international was crawling at .65 mbps. Out of probably 30 different test I did driving around I think only 1 time the international got better speeds and it was like 31mbps vs the US getting like 28. Id say its usable for sure but here is where it might matter most. I was in a bad reception part of town in a big mall type building and I rarely ever get service there. You have to stand next to a window to get any bars at all. The US version could barely get a connection but it did get something. The international didnt see anything until I completely left the building. Coming from a google pixel 2 XL that phone was about the same as what the US version of the galaxy s9 got. I walked all around the building and saw similar results. We dont even have band 71 in my city and that is the ONLY band that is missing from the international version that I have. Theoretically the international version SHOULD be performing the same however ive done plenty of test I can pretty much say in my case the international is slower.
Ironically the International version has been killing the US version in battery life. Im very happy about that. In standby mode the US version seems to drain very quickly for me while the exynos seems to just barely sip power. I can go an hour in standby and only use 1-2% while the US version can easily use 8% just sitting there and not doing anything. This morning I woke up and cleaned the house and both had 100% when I started. I didnt touch the phones at all. Both on wifi. About an hour later the exynos was at 98% and the US was at 93%. Both phones have the same apps and theoretically the same services running. The international actually SHOULD have more running in the background since my allo accound and texts/calls go to that phone and my wifes sim is in the other phone.

Damn, that's definitely an issue, especially since I live in a very low-signal part of town (in the mountains). I wonder how Exynos S8 vs Exynos S9 does in this regard...or if anyone else has any similar experiences as you...

Super odd, considering that's the exact opposite of what all the reviews seem to be saying! I'd be curious if anyone else could replicate this result - or again, to see something similar with Exynos S8 vs Exynos S9...
One more question: have you been able to get T-Mobile Wifi calling on the Exynos S9? I'm guessing not, but here in my low-signal area that's pretty essential. I figure someone on here will eventually work it out, but I was just hoping it might somehow already be up & running

I agree the battery life thing is very odd when you look at the word around town about the exynos. I think all that talk is sparked by the Adandtech review of the two phones and what you have to consider is those are synthetic benchmarks and they were also dealing with the snapdragon S9+ and the exynos S9 so completely different screen sizes and battery sizes. Now they used the cpu efficiency to come up with this idea that the exynos would theoretically perform worse than the snapdragon but thats all synthetics. I saw many online reviews of the battery life from the exynos and snapdragon versions and compared them and took a leap of faith that the exynos would be better. That was before the anandtech review came out. Thank god I was kinda right because battery life could not have been worse than my snapdragon s9 which just seemed to kill battery even when screen off and idle. Maybe its just my unit was bad but who knows. My review of battery life is strictly based on normal every day use and not synthetic benchmarks that nobody just does all day every day. Benchmarks are nice but they dont do crap for how you actually use the phone.

For me that particular comparison is irrelevant, because a Snapdragon is non-unlockable -> non-backupable -> non-option. I was concerned about the results showing Exynos S9 is even inferior to Exynos S8.
And I agree that every-day use is what matters, not synthetics. However, I would also assume that synthetics would have *some* correlation to real-world; obviously they aren't a perfect representation of it, or they may exaggerate the difference, etc. But it's pretty surprising to find the exact opposite result. Makes me wonder if the S8 vs S9 result could be backwards too...
Give me an exynos over a snapdragon anyday.
Im more than happy with a small loss of performance over not being able to unlock my bootloader and customize to my hearts content.
My s9 plus is a very good upgrade on my s8 (now with the wife)
Im not even going to read this article as its a moot point tbh. Real world performance wise, this phone blows anything else i have used out of the water.
Yes with both battery and performance abd despite it being an exynos lol.
Performance is excellent with my galaxy s9 it's just battery I wish was better.

i hope it will have a great modding community!

i really like this phone, i am a fan of bug battery phones, i own a lenovo p2 and i can't see a real replacement to buy, i don't want to buy a 4000mah phone but at least 5 or 6000k mah and THIS ROG phone seems to be the best flashship ever created, not only for the rest of the spects but primarily for the BIGGEST EVER battery in a top end phone.
i know this phone is pricey and the community strenght of the previous rog phone is 0% ... no roms no kernels... but i really hope that this one will have a good community here..... because i am sick to see top phones of only 4000mah

2k screen, wireless charging, better cameras
Unfortunately it's more than hardware that determines this. Hopefully they communicate with the buyers more and update the OS quickly and frequently. If Asus is smart they'll send developer phones and work with the mod community like they're doing for the Zenfone 6. Unfortunately while there are plenty of examples of what to do to get loyal customers and brand evangelists most refuse to do the usually simple things required to achieve this.

China version 8+128GB, 500USD. Not pricey.
500USD? That’s gotta be because of the Tencent (owner of PUBG) partnership. No doubt in my mind that phone comes with some Tencent bloatware.
International version will definitely be more expensive though, especially if the bloatware’s not on it.
I heard they are also working on a stock android version reminds me of the Google Play Edition phones.

Wireless mimo NO
HDR chip to convert SDR NO ------ ASUS website deleted when selling

Rumor: Different screen vendor ------ Wrong

I don’t think the Tencent version will have the option for the Stock Android UI. Believe it’s only a Worldwide/US feature.
It comes out in a little more than a month for us.

No wireless charging. And it won’t have expandable memory on its own, but it the gaming accessories that you can get with it come with SD slots.
But I’ve never used more than 50GB on a phone and this thing packs 512GB out the box

What are your impressions

So those of you who bought it, what are your impressions? Is there anything you don't like about the phone?
Hi, I have the 128GB Tencent version since almost a month.
So far can't be happier with it; great screen, audio, performance, design, software and battery life. They really improved on the OG ROG phone in every aspect.
Google services and all my apps work flawlessly, and although I'm not an avid photographer, the cameras seem decent.
Extra bonus points for a headphone jack and the LED lights (both the small front one and the rear flashy one).
128 GB seems more than enough for my needs and thus far the Chinese ROM hasn't been bothering me at all, after some small tweaks.
In summary, the best phone I've had until now (and I pretty much owned every worthwhile Android flagship every year)
Only issue I have is that the accessories aren't available yet. Other than that, best phone I've ever owned in terms of everything. 128gb version here as well and I just have a portable micros reader I plug into the bottom port for serious emulating.

It is quite heavy, and not too svelte, but I come from a Huawei Mate 20X which is a lot larger and more cumbersome.
The ergonomics and size are fine, but the weight is noticeable in pockets.

How is the brightness in sunlight?
I own the 512gb 12gb CN Version. Quality of the phone feels nice. I like the weight and how it feels in two hands and in one hand via gaming. My only complaint is the brightness. Wish it was a bit brighter.
Just waiting on the twinview dock II then I'm set.

Because of this question I went out to my driveway and decided to test it out myself. This is probably one of the better screens I've seen in direct sunlight. The one thing that's probably making a difference is the fact that I have the dark theme on the phone and it makes it a whole hell of a lot easier to be able to view the screen while I'm typing or doing whatever in my driveway. Full sun, 82 degrees, and I can read this screen perfectly fine without an issue... Sans the fact that I need bifocals in my old ass is not able to read this small ass text as much as he used to be. In short, this is probably one of the best screens I've seen dealing with the ability to display text in direct sunlight.

My first impressions are that I really like the weight, the touch response, speed of everything, and holy crap! The audio is amazing coming from the phone without headphones. I genuinely hope that the modding community does get around this phone. if not, I'll have to get rid of it and get the actual international version so I can get some additional or better band coverage, but for I live in Ohio so far bands 2 and 4 have not been an issue and I think that I saw 1900 show up, but that was just for a moment before one of the other bands picked up. This battery is amazing. there's some tweaks you can make to it within the system settings to allow it to last longer and it provides you some estimated times until it is about to die oh, so that's really nice. I don't want to reach you my cabbage since I already posted some comments in the USA Buyer thread, but feel free to ask me any questions about it if you don't own the phone if you want to know some information about it or off of it.

Not sure what will show in the images. I went outside, found a flowering plants. 16:9, HDR Enhanced.
...185624=1x

Sorry for the blur. Did my best to set still.
They're set at default resolution... 4k x 2250 I think. Like 4MB each. HDR Enhanced required a little more time for exposure. If you think additional pics or a vid or two would help, lemme know. I'll see what I can do

My mate 20x has way way better camera
Even oppo realme x has way better camera than rog 2
Rest is amazing
I recently bought rog phone 2 from flipkart in India. My device is working fine. But i noticed there is one problem with the phone and it had happened many times that it automatically reset its network.
Like it automatically turns off wifi ,both sim signal for 10 sec and turn it back on again. This happens once or twice in a day at any period of time.
Sometimes network goes blank and i need to restart the device.
Please help me out if anyone finds the solution. Or people having the same problem.

And just port GCam onto the phone like I did, the Night scape images with GCam are almost equal to iPhone 11's Night mode.

How does the wired headphone volume and sound quality compares with mate 20x?
Love it! I got mine for $300 shipped brand new, since I had $200 in ebay gift cards! So much bang for the buck!!
Awesome phone
Fast, responsive, the fastest 4G i've every experienced, and that screen! The FPS is also fast too.
I sold my Note 10+ as the ROG2 just kills it in almost every way. Probably the only thing that was better on the Note10+ was the triple camera setup. But TBH, for what I do with photography, its perfectly fine - and there's always Snapseed for minor corrections.

V40 in 2020 still worth it?

Hello I'm still on my G6 and planning to upgrade soon. (OLED and camera improvements, hopefully battery)
I'm now having my eye on the Huawei P30 and LG V40, can't decide. Size doesn't really matter, does someone have experience with both phones? I like to keep the 3,5mm, however I'm using a Bluetooth a lot last few months.
They both are around 350 euro's now, recommendations?
Yes, but 350€ is too much imho, you can almost get 2019 phones for that money. Battery life isn't stellar but better than reviews suggest.

v40 is a good phone and with Android 10 out for it (att ) the ATT phone is best for the Euro Market, just make sure its unlocked. You can then keep it stock and get the update to android 10 if its not already, or just flash it over to the unlocked firmware when it comes out.
350 euro is about double what you should be paying for it.
Teh battery life is good but not the best out there, i still mage on average a full day wuth 4.5 hours at 70% brightness, no gaming, just browsing and youtube.

Just the EU model. Its much easier to unlock as it has official bootloader unlocking
You could also have a look at the Mi9T pro for 350 euros or so.
DON'T buy the US model if you're not planning to use it in US, unless its the last choice or is much cheaper

But then I don't gain on audio right? Only camera maybe a little bit. For 250 euros more I think the V40 camera with gcam would be good enough. Or then the Huawei P30?
In the US the phones are way less expensive I think, better deals. Western Europe is just expensive phones
I just sold my Galaxy Note 10 (which I bought after V30) and now using V40. Very pleased overall.
Cameras on newest Samsung flagships are just TRAGIC given the money You spend on them and wouldn't recommend buying any of them.

To be honest, not much. I just always felt bad with how inconsistent that camera was. In good light conditions it could produce a beauty of a picture just to screw things up in another. Lowlight photos were better than on V40, but required a LOT of steady hand - so you can achieve the same effect on LG using pro mode and setting the time of capturing for few seconds. Also I felt that it was always trying to process a photo to make it look better, which sometimes gave just bad results - oversaturated (especially on front camera) and with strange artefacts. You could say the main disappointment came from the fact how much money I've spent on Samsung and results of its camera. The battery was ok, but given the screen is only 1080p that was expected.
Keep in mind that bigger Note10+ has TOF sensor and possibly could manage photos better. But given how there are many problems with S20 cameras (especially on the Ultra model) it could just be that Samsung cameras are going downhill.

And how is battery performance for you on the V40? (SOT?)
I'll try to test it for You because I have a rather strict policy in keeping the battery charged more than 50% so cannot really say SOT specifics. But it is about the same as it was on Samsung and V30.
Ok so, after that post I unplugged charger at 94%, now at 10%. SOT 4h17min, 8h46min total usage. Facebook, Twitter, 9gag, camera (few photos and videos), some web browsing (chrome). Wifi, BT, GPS, data on all the time.
So I'd say it should reach about 5h SOT of moderate use from 100 to 0.

Okay thanks! That's about the same as on my G6 (still on fulmics android 7). Nowadays with Corona I'm on my phone much more and I have to recharge in the evening. Maybe Huawei P30, but I can't read anywhere about the audio quality through 3.5 mm jack, and whether it is tweakable.
I'm considering the V40 got the audio and price, but battery is a bit disappointing
TBH I was heavily thinking about P30, but lack of wireless charging made it a no-go for me. Also, those expensive nanoSD cards.

I don't care much for wireless charging, what I'm more worried about is sound quality. I listen to music a lot, but I don't know if the audio quality (3.5mm) is anywhere near the quad DAC from LG..
And yeah, but maybe those cards are cheaper via AliExpress
