Hi.
I'm having a problem with Amazon Prime Video app on my Mi 9 device. The problem is that I can't watch HD content from Prime Video app on my Mi 9. At first, I thought that it was the problem somewhere to be found in the settings of the app but soon I realized that it was not the case. It looks like my Mi 9 doesn't support HD playback. It is strange because I have Widavine L1 certification (I checked) and Netflix in HD works perfectly on my Mi 9. So where's the problem? I did a little search out and I found nothing about this problem. Maybe some of you have heard about it and can say something more? Or maybe you have already figured it out? If so, please let me know 'cause I can't find anything about this problem and without HD amazon prime looks like s**t.
Thanks

Hello,
Has anyone tried using Amazon Instant Video in the android browser? My device is on its way back from HP and this would be useful to have. Otherwise I might sell it without rooting it and go for the Kindle Fire.

Plays just fine through most Android browsers including Dolphin HD. When I first tried months and months ago it did not seem to work, but in the last month or so I found that it plays just like it does on my notebook PC, so all is good.

I have been able to play them in Dolphin. I do have the Hulu modified flash installed. I am not sure if that is necessary for Amazon though.

It should work in the browser. There is also the app ripped from the Kindle Fire which installs fine on the Touchpad but won't play on rooted devices.
I would like to put the CM 10.1 ROM on my Kindle Fire, but I don't want to lose Amazon Video. I'm assuming that Amazon Video doesn't work if I put a different ROM on my Fire. Is that assumption correct? Is there a way around this?
Thanks for any insight.
Funny I just installed it yesterday(amazon video)... I'm on the tablet version of cm 10.1, and I installed a version of amazon video I found laying around in the forums that is said to work on other android devices, here's the catch, the device can't be rooted, or so I have heard just like on kindles once you root it the instant video won't work, though k thought that was only prime so I am not completely sure how this affects it. So my answer that needs to be improves on is yes the app will work, as to actually watching the videos I am not sure, you may have to de-root the cm os, which I am not sure if that is a good idea. That's my 2 cents, see if anybody else can be of more use.
Edit: ever time I try to watch a free video I get a "unfortunately this program has stopped working" error
Seems like a stupid move for them to not release an android app for us to use their services, they'd rather we buy a kindle, or in this case not flash our kindle if we want to use it.

My Kindle is already rooted and prime videos work. I have the stock rom with the play store. I want to use cm 10.1, but don't want to lose amazon prime videos. It's disappointing that this is even an issue.

I have CM10.1 on my Kindle now and live abroad so I cannot even use the Amazon video store. I'm curious though - can you access the videos by logging into Amazon in the tablet's browser instead, like you would if you were on a desktop?

You can if you have flash installed and working.
I just discovered that the Kinology ROM allows the use of Amazon Video, plus all the google framework and 3rd party launchers. It's not CM 10.1, but it is better than stock.
I have CM 10.1 and live abroad, I use a VPN and Firefox to watch Amazon Prime Videos.
I got my tab a few days ago and found in the video app an awesome demo video, but somehow I've lost it. Can someone provide me with a copy of that video? Much would be appreciated.

He meant the demo video that Samsung provides to show off the AMOLED Display.
It's called wonder of nature. I'm trying to upload it to my drop box but it's taking forever! Lol
I found it on you tube though

I got half way through that video before reading down the page. That's hilarious
The exact same thing happened to me. I watched the video once, then it disappeared. There's a widget to display it on the desktop but the video's gone. Can anyone suggest a good free YouTube downloaded that actually works?

Have you tried looking in your My Files folder under Video as that's where mine is.
Looking at getting Mi Pad 4 plus, can anyone confirm if the Netflix app works and that it can download films for viewing offline?

Thanks for the response. Do you know if you can select download location in the Netflix settings, and does it stream in HD?

I don't think Netflix has ever allowed us select download location for their contents on any platform.
The Mi Pad 4 does not support Widevine L1.
I'm happy watching Netflix on my Mi Pad 4. Widevine L3 is not disappointing & is good enough for me. It's not like watching 480 & below.

Yes, I have just found out no HD, shame. Netflix does now allow you to select storage location but does seem to be limited, I have it on my Samsung Note 8, running Android 8.0. Very handy if you don't have much external memory available.
Mi Pad 4 still looks a good tablet, I shall keep an eye on prices.
Thanks for your help.

I have a very strange situation right now.
I bought the Mi Pad 4 Plus last year, haven't switched to global rom yet, still the original rom. At first is just MIUI 9 and installed google service through some other app store, and everything is fine. I can use Netflix, download, offline.
Even one day I noticed the system updated to MIUI 10 automatically, I think it still works fine. One day I have to do a hard reset then reinstall all the apps. Then this time Netflix won't start. It tells me it's not supported, but it never happened before.
I wonder if that's something special in my case or it's happening to everyone on MIUI 10?

found a working version from another post.
I've just received my brand new mipad4+.
Installed twrp and miui.eu. 9.4.18 but Netflix does not work.
If I look for it on the play store, I cannot find it. If I install the apk from an other store the app says that it is not compatible with my device [emoji53]
Any idea?

Hi where did you find the working apk?
Install Pixelexperience, Netflix is available right from google store and has ability to downlowad movies, what was a problem with older apk.
Streaming HD Netflix with Pixelexperience?
Not HD, that is impossible without widevine.
I think with a modded version of netflix app it will be fine. Used for 2 years now.
not HD I think
Which Android TV should I get? I was hoping to use one that has a browser, go on Udemy, watch Netflix / Youtube. I recently purchased this, but it has a real "Made In China" feel to it:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07S9VYCNZ/
Not that it's a bad thing, but I was hoping to get something a little more modern. I tried the Firestick 4K and really liked the interface and that you can speak into the microphone, but not sure if it's the best one for me.
Can you make a suggestion?
Thanks!
DJ

Nvidia Shield hands down best Android TV box out there. I don't think it has official browser support and not sure about Udemy but Netflix and YouTube work great and in 4k too.
