When I goto App Info, the permissions are disabled and the text says Disabled By Admin
Not sure if I am using it in guest mode. How to check it?
Hi this exact same thing happened to me with the WhatsApp in my Samsung S9+ secure folder. I couldn't even change my profile picture because of its disabled by admin. After trying everything this was my last and only option.
You will have to delete the 'profile' it is set to which means all your gallery, files, everything saved in your secure folder will be deleted. Mine was set to Work profile. Make sure to save your important files to a memory card and remove the memory card before proceeding.
Login in to secure folder > pressed down and go to app info > permissions > next to the 'disabled by admin' is the little icon that looks like 'i' > it'll tell you what profile it is set to > click learn more > and itll ask you if you want to cancel or delete profile > select' delete profile ( this will now delete the profile your secure folder is working from which means everything saved in this folder is wiped out).
You can start up the Secure folder afresh through your phone settings - Security - Secure folder - it'll take you through the signing up process and you've got to re-add all your apps again and now your permissions should be available to set.
I also have this problem. Is there any way to fix this other than deleting the work profile, which I've read will cause all kinds of issues and only be fixable by a rectory reset?

Google sync does not work properly. If there are no memos on the phone and you try to sync back from google docs then it inserts the notes as pictures within notes. After a couple of such syncs the original note becomes a picture in a picture in a note. Needless to say the loss in resolution makes it impossible to read them.
A friend has the same problem so it is not just me. Does anyone know of a solution? The best would have been a folder that could simply be on the sdcard. I love using the S Memo application and just wish they had given some thought to the storage issue.
Thanks,
damn another unsolved thread!
for me syncing with "evernote" works fine, it also gives me the option to edit notes on the pc and sync it back to my phone, it is quite nice as my secretary shares a folder with me and she can send me in real time notes.
Unlike to Google evernote is really syncing, but this means if you delete a not or Snote then it is going to be deleted on the phone as well.

backup the S-Memo data

I have found a method of backing up the drawings / text from S-Memo exactly as they are (as in you are still able to draw and erase on them) but the backup process isn't exactly "easy".
NB: Now I am just going to assume that users who are reading this have never heard of Titanium Backup or are not familiar with the program.
====================
To backup S-Memo data:
1. Go into your app drawer and open the file explorer program My files (or any other file management program you have like Astro or ES etc).
2. Navigate to your external SD storage (/sdcard/External_SD) and create a folder there called Titanium (or any other name you desire). Once that's done you can exit.
3. Then you need to download the app Titanium Backup Free or Pro (Free version from Google Play here), Install.
4. Open Titanium Backup > click your phone's menu button > Preferences.
5. Select Backup folder location. Now, using your phone's back button to (suprise!) go back, navigate to the folder you created in step 1 of this guide (if you followed the guide it will be in /sdcard/External_SD/Titanium. After you are inside the folder you created, select Use the current folder. Now hit your phone's back button.
6. Still in Titanium Backup app, select the Backup / Restore tab from the top.
7. Scroll down and find the S-Memo app (screenshot 1 attached below). Single-tap it, then press the Backup ! button (screenshot 2).
8. Done!
p.s. Just a quick explanation of what we did, essentially we created a folder for Titanium Backup to store its backup files in a place that is not on the internal SD. Therefore if we decide to do a full system wipe which included the internal SD (whether deliberately or accidentally) our backup data would not be wiped with it (I think the default Titanium Backup location is /sdcard/TitaniumBackup i.e. on the internal SD for our phone).
====================
To restore S-Memo data:
1. Install Titanium Backup again (remember we wiped our phones, so the app is gone?).
2. Same process as steps 4 and 5 from above: Open Titanium Backup > phone's menu button > Preferences > Backup folder location > navigate to /sdcard/External_SD/Titanium (or wherever you saved it) > Use the current folder.
3. Now hit your phone's back button > then press the Backup / Restore tab.
4. Find the S-Memo app > select it > press Restore (screenshot 3). When you're done you can exit Titanium Backup.
Now here is where it gets interesting...
5. Open S-Memo... and you may notice the drawings / text you have created have been restored, but have one of the following problems:
- Image missing from the note preview.
- Only part of the image is visible in the note preview.
- The image preview is displaying something random.
This is what has happened: The drawings / text you have created from before have been restored, but the preview of the drawing / text has not been updated on your new system (I have no idea where S-Memo stores that). So if you select the drawing / text, it is an exact copy of the original, but you just can't see it in the S-Memo preview.
6. To get that preview back, do the following:
For drawings: Open the drawing > draw something (like a dot) > then you can erase it during the same drawing session > click Save.
For text: Open the text > type a letter or something > delete it during the same drawing session > click Save.
7. Now the preview of the note should accurately reflect the contents of the note!
====================
I'm not sure if there is another easier method than this, but I have been using this method successfully through multiple wipes (I should really stop messing around with system files ) to restore my S-Memos perfectly. A very long, but (I'm pretty sure!) a garuanteed method to work. If anyone else has another method do let us know.
Enjoy your restored notes
Retrieve original sketches which came with the Note
I seem to have lost the original sketches which came with my SNote. Does anyone know how I can retrieve them? I didn't back them up....

You could try to search on the file system for the folder where the files are stored by the app.
Then use a file restore program to try and undelete the files.
ANd oh yeah, make BACKUPS! then you would not be in this situation (yes it is stating the obvious).
I have some additional info for users who update there Note app to the newer version.
You can use the same procedure as above to restore data + app.
Just rename the Smemo.apk, do a restore of app+data, remove the restored app, rename the newer Snote app to it's normal name and start it.
You will see some conversion, then it works (at least it did for me).
To restore the preview images, back up the /Sd Card/S-memo folder before you flash, then overwrite with your backup afterwards. The thumbnails / Previews are stored as ordinary JPGs.
Now if only I can manage to extract that folder from my nandroid backup... :silly:
why not use Titanium backup pro's cloud sync option - you can password protect all files too.
Even if my phone dropped to the bottom of the sea, i will always have my contacts, cal, apps and selected folders backed up and password protected online.
I have not tried restoring S memo data, but im sure TB pro will restore it fine.

Where is there a list of the /system/app files that relate to the Text Message and autosync Gmail functions in Verizon Droid3 2.3.4?
On the Verizon Droid3 (Blur), attempting to disable/remove/replace the Stock Text Messaging system I renamed several files under /system/app but may have actually uninstalled "Text Messaging" from the System. (I didnt realize at the time the replacement SMS apps still needed a few things from the Stock ROM to make them work.)
I restored the following apk/odex files in /system/app and rebooted:
BlurSNMessagingEngine.apk.bak -> BlurSNMessagingEngine.apk
BlurSNMessagingEngine.odex.bak -> BlurSNMessagingEngine.odex
messaging.apk.bak -> messaging.apk
messaging.odex.bak -> messaging.odex
Afterwards, running Text Messages icon within Messaging generates a FC with Error Message: Process com.motorola.messaging has stopped working
Another unintended side-effect is that gmail app email accounts no longer aautosync & require manual sync. . Adjusting the settings under the Accounts UI does not redress the problem. I would like to re-enable auto-sync
I have been looking for a complete list of files pertaining to these functions to rename & re-establish functionality. I probably still have all the files renamed as .bak. A list will help ensure I have renamed all of the component files.
PS- I did look but was unable to find a complete reference guide or Manual with related information as I am asking for. I would love to buy a copy. Does Motorola sell a development manual somewhere, pdf or print?
Thanks one and all!

I don't get a location on google maps either while selecting battery saving mode after assigning the app full permissions. It seems to be a known issue as I found a few posts on the miui en forum about it as well but no solution yet.
Enabling GPS did give me a location though when outdoors.
EDIT : Finally managed to fix it. You need to do a factory reset and then accept all the location consent prompts when the phone restarts.You can use the backup feature to avoid losing any data.
This worked for many
Switch to High Accuracy mode and then follow these steps:
1. Go to Security app > Permissions > Turn on Permission Manager
2. Accept/Allow all permissions that are asked for
3. Restart your phone, still keep on accepting all permissions specially all the location relayed.
4. Go to Maps, further permissions will be asked, allow them all
5. Turn off Permission Manager now and restart your phone.
I hope this solves the issue.
Try removing your sim card first then reboot the phone. Agree to the prompt asking for location access.

Hey guys,
I installed the calendar from Lilipop 5.0 and it is giving me a heck of a lot of issues.
The way that I installed was:
Note that I did not have Google Calendar installed before, only the Samsung Calendar.
1. Convert to user app: Calender 4.4.4, Calendar 1.0, Calendar 1.0 (yes I have 2 of them), and Google Calendar Sync
2. Backup / Verify / Uninstall all 4 items
3. Put the new calendar apk file in System/Priv-Apps and rebooted the phone
It installed upon boot up but worked poorly.
I now want to go back to the old calendar, so I
1. Converted to user app: Google Calendar 5.0
2. Backup / Verify / Uninstall
3. Reboot
4. Go to Play Store and download current available Google Calendar
After installation, it crashes on me and does not work. I restored Google Calendar Sync which I removed before, but still not working.
Can anyone please assist with this.
I didnt install this, but when you put the new .apk into place, did you make sure the permissions were set the same way the old file was?
its sounds like that might be your problem...

I think I just set it to 766. All 3 options check for the first column, and the other two columns are blank.
I just checked my System/Apps folder and System/Priv-Apps and I do not see Google Calendar Sync, not sure why considering it appears in TB.

look in the folder(s) where you replaced files, and make sure the files you put in there have the same exact permissions as the other ones that are in there..if you change anything , save then reboot and see if that helps.
if not, I am not sure what else it could be..sorry..

I didnt manually put anything else in there because the rest was either there already, or was installed by the reboot and removed from the system/priv-app folder
I really dont want to have to restore all my crap again

I think this is your problem. that GoogleCalendarSyncAdaptor.apk needs to be there. On my phone its in /system/app.
also, did you by chance change your build.prop at all?

Soo... considering that it is not in my system/app folder, what can I do now in order to restore it and get everything back to working as it was?
The option is gone from within secure folder. It only has restore. Anyway to back it up?

Strange. On my S10 (stock Android 11, OneUI 3.1), I see the backup and restore option.
Open the secure folder, click on the 3-dots > Settings > Backup and restore > Backup secure folder data.
No backup option on the S21 Ultra secure folder. However, there is another option in the settings, called "uninstall." When you choose uninstall, the phone prompts you about restoring the data beforehand.
I suppose you could try uninstall, and then when all your data is decrypted/non-secure, you can then backup the data that way?
Upon your first setup on secure folder there should be a pop up there saying "Backup is no longer supported for Secure Folder, but you can still restore from previous backups."
So yeah, Backup is gone for Secure Folder now.
It seems the secure folder is still backuped in the cloud on S22.
