Face unlock not working [SOLVED] - Google Pixel 4 XL Questions & Answers

I initially was on stock with magisk and face unlock was working fine. I ended up having to reinstall from factory images. Since this it hasn't worked. I have tried November patch and October patch, safe mode, and re enrolling the face unlock. It just blinks can't verify face try again. Any help is appreciated
Edit: I guess there was an issue with restoring from my backup.

Make sure you are flashing the version (or version path) you were originally on. I had this same problem. My phone came with version .007. I tried flashing .014 (Nov) and it broke face unlock. Once I flashed Nov version .007.A3 it worked perfectly.

How to revert back from stable pie to oreo?

I updated to pie stable and now my WiFi doesn't turn on, Hotspot doesn't turn on, and fingerprint does not get enrolled at the last touch.
Any ideas how to revert back to Oreo?

Thanks a lot. But I fixed my issues today. Don't think I need to downgrade yet as everything is working fine now. Thanks for answering.

My WiFi and Hotspot didn't turn on at all and my MAC address got deleted. Now after two factory resets, it's working fine.
I know that WiFi and hotspot doesn't turn on together after the pie update. There's no fix to it as of now. I tried checking the developer options and there is something related to this. I tried enabling the option but it doesn't work.

How to return to stock?

Hello guys! After experiencing all custom ROMS including Xiaomi.EU, figured out that every single one has some small inconvenience for me and planning to return to stock, eventually using only Magisk and potentially a custom Kernel.
Managed to install every single version of Global Developer ROM, everything works well except the FaceUnlock that was gone, (the phone remained stucked in China region) and I am not able to access the fingerprint section, after few tries it brings me an error message.
Tried also using MIFlash , but the Fastboot ROM writting took 3 sec to write and stopped as successfully, then nothing but bootlooping.
Currently is the phone is functional, but as mentioned before not able to setup new fingerprints (using cache and data from old recovery and those work) neither Face Unlock.
Tried to Google any kind of solution, but unfortunately nothing worked.
Any suggestion is appreciated.
I see that nobody is interested to support, so I continuously researched and figured out that doing a full wipe and following these steps from this post will solve my problem:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-8/help/chinese-mi8-to-global-instructions-t3839665
From I don't know which reason I was blocked on China region without the possibility to changing it.

Manual flash to factory image not taking?

Hey guys,
I tried flashing the November factory image, but my phone still says that it's on the stock (October) firmware version.
It's an unlocked, Google Store devices on Verizon. I flashed the QD1A.190821.014.C2 version (and it seemed succesful), but phone still says its on -.007. Rooted with Magisk prior to flashing but disabled all mods.
I tried to flash twice with the same results. Any idea? What am I missing?
well what did the flash log say it must have failed, update your platform-tools, change usb port on pc, change usb cable (or flip the usbC connection sometimes that works in a cable were one of the pins is bad), those things fix 99.9% of non syntax/user errors with fastboot flashes.
I also have Gstore version unlock and rooted no issues on update. Platform-Tools was updated since last release, that may have caused issue but not sure because i updated before the flash....
I had problems with the versions. I was on the .007 October version (bought unlocked from Google). Figured since I'm on T-Mobile, I'd flash the image that was for T-Mobile .014. Turned out it didn't take and it broke the Face Unlock. As soon as I flashed the .007.A3, it's working beautifully. Maybe since you were on .007 before (like me), try the .007.A3?
Well, I updated platform tools and flashed the C3 build and it worked like a charm. Not sure what the issue was, but one of those def fixed it!

Apparently happens to some users when they update to December.
Just delete your old face data as it says and rescan.

Some have reported the same issue when updating to December via fastboot with a wipe and clean install. Sometimes a factory reset works, other times not. Luckily, the January update is around the corner. Hopefully it is fixed by then

Mine happened a little different when updating to this version. My Face info was saved from the previous version but wasn't working 100% of the time. I deleted my cached face data and tried to retake but the blocks weren't showing on the face capture. So I then disabled all unlock methods, rebooted the phone and then tried to set up a pin and face again and everything worked as it should.

It happened for me as well ( Pixel 4) after I've downgraded from Android 11 Beta to the latest stable 10.0.0 (QQ3A.200605.002, Jun 2020) via the Android Flash Tool.
I tried to factory reset my phone few times, even deleted Esim. Nothing helped ( could do register my face during phone setup or later after I skipped it)
I tried different builds but the only 1 which worked for me 10.0.0 (QD1A.190821.007, Oct 2019). I was able to register my face-unlock, lock bootloader and receive the latest OTAs.
I flashed this build with Platform Tools and also changed the configured security key instead of the Pin during setup.
Not sure if this was an issue with Android Flash Tool or Pin security.

Actually it stopped working in a few hours or so. Found out that this issue started from DP4 when you fastboot back to stable.
As a workaround, I opted to Beta again, where Face-Unlock Works. Then I opted out and received OTA stable and issues with Face recognition were gone. Yaaay

Galaxy Note 8 SM-N950F camera not working

Hey guys,
So basically my camera stop working. Two days back update the phone to the latest firmware (Android 9) and security patch (March 1). Installed TWRP and rooted with magisk. So far everything was working fine. Today needed to restart the phone and after the restart my camera disappeared. In camera app I get just black screen without error. Same thing happen with third party app. Trying in safe mode, same results. In an app
iDevcheck under camera tab there is nothing, no information at all.
Ideas?
Bump,

If it was me, I would flash stock filmware with Odin to see if it resolves the issue, if it does not, it is probably a hardware issue, in my opinion, or maybe the camera ribbon cable has disconnected somehow.
''Can't turn on flashlight because the light is being used by another app''
This is what I discovered today. Still kinda think it's a software issue. At the moment don't have the chance to flash stock firmware.

Factory reset?
Factory reset did not helped either.
I guess something went wrong during the rooting process.
