Apparently happens to some users when they update to December.
Just delete your old face data as it says and rescan.

Some have reported the same issue when updating to December via fastboot with a wipe and clean install. Sometimes a factory reset works, other times not. Luckily, the January update is around the corner. Hopefully it is fixed by then

Mine happened a little different when updating to this version. My Face info was saved from the previous version but wasn't working 100% of the time. I deleted my cached face data and tried to retake but the blocks weren't showing on the face capture. So I then disabled all unlock methods, rebooted the phone and then tried to set up a pin and face again and everything worked as it should.

It happened for me as well ( Pixel 4) after I've downgraded from Android 11 Beta to the latest stable 10.0.0 (QQ3A.200605.002, Jun 2020) via the Android Flash Tool.
I tried to factory reset my phone few times, even deleted Esim. Nothing helped ( could do register my face during phone setup or later after I skipped it)
I tried different builds but the only 1 which worked for me 10.0.0 (QD1A.190821.007, Oct 2019). I was able to register my face-unlock, lock bootloader and receive the latest OTAs.
I flashed this build with Platform Tools and also changed the configured security key instead of the Pin during setup.
Not sure if this was an issue with Android Flash Tool or Pin security.

Actually it stopped working in a few hours or so. Found out that this issue started from DP4 when you fastboot back to stable.
As a workaround, I opted to Beta again, where Face-Unlock Works. Then I opted out and received OTA stable and issues with Face recognition were gone. Yaaay

Did yuo do same clearing in google services framework and put language to english?
---------- Post added at 12:08 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:03 PM ----------
1 - Put it in English US
2 - Force stop Google Service Framework and then, clean data
3 - Try again
P.S.: Everytime i do this, it works.
Exactly as i described.
Copied from nokia 8 updates...worked for me.

Sorry for my bad English guys?
First of all you most uninstall the update for google play service, for do that go to setting>app and notifications>app info>google play service app and from right corner of the app page there is 3dot, tap on it and uninstall updates. Now you can disable or force stop google play service app.
If the update doesn't uninstall go to setting>security & Location then from there scroll down and tap on device admin apps and remove the tik of find my device. Now go to app page and uninstall the update.
I do this method and after uninstall the updates and disable google play service app go to update software check and again couldn't download... then I enable again google play service and go to system update page and check... Ok the problem solved... If couldn't update yet, use a vpn like psiphon and try again. It should work.
Don't forget after system update completed, install update for google play service app again.
Thanks to Simon-sf and all of you.

I have a Nokia 8 that is not updating to Android 8.1.0 and have been trying all solutions listed in this thread without any success.
The phone originally had Android 8.0.0 and the February 2018 security update installed.
6 weeks ago I inserted an AT&T sim into the phone for a trip to the USA and the phone immediately installed security updates for March and April 2018 into Android 8.0.0.
On return to Australia I replaced the sim with my regular carriers sim but no further security or operating system updates have occurred.
I contacted Nokia Support, they have a form letter reply that advises to clear cache in carrier services and insert a sim from a different carrier, no effect.
I have reset the TS-1012 to factory defaults several times but still no updates.
An identical phone in the house using the same carrier and sharing the same WiFi updated to Android 8.1.0 months ago.
Could the problem relate to the March and April security updates being installed into Android 8.0.0 rather than 8.1.0 released in February 2018?
Just spent the weekend trying all solutions I can find on the net but still no joy.
Can anyone assist?

I would think your on the right track with your thinking. I would say that you've ended up out of sync with the the OTA updates being distributed in Australia. (I'm no expert, but it seems logical).
I would suggest just manually updating to the June update via SD card will at least get you up to date.
FYI i have the same model (TA-1012 ) in Australia.

I tried to update my Nokia 8 phone ( currently build number 00WW_4_390_SP04 ) using file Nokia8_Android_8.1_Oreo_4.84A_Update.zip but this operation failed.
The file is described as containing Android 8.1 plus the February 2018 security update, the update process complained that the install file was older than that currently installed and terminated with an error message.
My phone appears to have incorrectly installed the March and April 2018 security updates into Android 8.0.0 so the Android 8.1.0 update process stalls due to these updates at a guess.
Also a guess, I would need an Android 8.1.0 update file that has the May 2018 security update included for the update process to work.
Any idea where update files can be downloaded or even if an Android 8.1.0 update file exists that includes the May 2018 security update?

That's the one I used on my TA-1012 and it worked fine.

Many thanks for your help, I downloaded file June08_NB1_v4.88B.zip and it installed without incident.
I now have a TA-1012 with Android 8.1.0 installed and the Android security patch level is 1 May 2018.
The build number is shown as 00WW_4_88B.
Dumb question, but will the phone now do automatic OTA updates or are updates to be downloaded and applied manually from here on?
I can only guess at what prevented the phone from doing OTA updates previously, just wondering as to whether if is now fixed.
Hi. I have a nokia 7 plus TA-1046 build 00WW_2_22M
The problem is that i have this phone for last year and i am stuck at 8.1 August 1 Security update. I check regularly for updates but besides one security update nothing. I am from Romania dunno if that matters. On every forum i saw people on pie and i am stuck onto oreo. Is there any connection with my network provider or ota is from nokia. I got an android one for the fuss of being up to date. And i am behind so many other phones on updates. I did nothing on the phone downgrade upgrade kernel ROMs. Its clean. I also tries some variants that support from nokia gave me. Like remove sim and conect to wifi and try. Go into safe mode and try from there to. Clean catch from carrier service and remove sim and go and check. None work. Any ideas for a proper non warranty removed method to get an update?
Yes, just download the update and flash it yourself. It isn't very hard and the effect is the exact same as an OTA update so it doesn't void your warranty.
Better stay in oreo cause this latest pie
updates bricked my wifi and sd card
8i advice you to keep the phone with oreo.

Buna seara / hello,
I think you should manually update. Follow this
https://forum.xda-developers.com/nokia-7-plus/development/ota-nokia-7-plus-ota-links-t3818774/page99
I have a TA-1046 dual SIM, international version (yours is probably the same).
I was stuck first on Oreo 8.0 in April and I had to manually update to 8.1. After that I got OTAs without any problems until the Pie update.
In September I had to manually update to Pie, but since then I got every OTA.
Everything works fine, no issues with WIFI. I do not use an SD card. Pie is better than Oreo and you need the latest security patches.
Mult succes.
It's interesting that some people don't have any issues with last updates but quite a lot of people have the same issues i have, today i tested my friend's phone and has the same firmware like i do but yet no issues for him
Btw: before you upgrade, august is last version can be unlocked
I have encountered several bugs with the Rog Phone 2
First of all I am unable to create a Google account with Mobile Data. Everytime I try to create an account, I get the message: "There was a problem communicating with Google servers". However, with WiFi it works just fine
The second issue is that my LED notification light does not seem to flash when I get a text message or any kind of notification. The only time the LED is on is when the phone is charging (amber colour) or when battery is low (flashes red)
The third issue I am facing is that YouTube sometimes will not load with mobile data. I have to first open YouTube with WiFi, then, and only then will it load/open with mobile data. If I don't use YouTube for around 2 hours, the same thing happens again, I need to open it with WiFi first and only then it will open with mobile Data.
Last and final issue is that I have the old software with the July 2019 security patch. When I spoke to ASUS Chat on the phone, they told me to download the new firmware from their website. I downloaded the firmware and attempted to flash it via placing the room in the "Root" folder and restarting the phone. When I restarted the phone, on the too left corner of the screen it said there was a software update available (the Rom which I downloaded from ASUS) However, after tapping update, I got the message "unable to update"
Can anyone please help? Any advice/solutions would be highly appreciated!
I have the Tencent version of the Rog Phone 2 however it has the Global Rom on it (the WW ROM)
Apart from these "issues" the phone is perfect. I cannot fault the phone in any other aspect.
I look forward to some solutions ?

this thread, have a read of it and other posts. install device info HW from playstore and you'll probably see that the product id and fingerprint (under system) are both CN, although the rom itself is WW. you need to change to everything to WW following that thread... then you can update

Edit: I guess there was an issue with restoring from my backup.

Make sure you are flashing the version (or version path) you were originally on. I had this same problem. My phone came with version .007. I tried flashing .014 (Nov) and it broke face unlock. Once I flashed Nov version .007.A3 it worked perfectly.
Has anyone had problems with your phone's hotspot after updating to Android 13 on ZenFone 8?
I also did a factory reset, but it didn't help.
The signal is very weak and even if you connect another device, this then can not navigate because it is internet not available.
Back to Android 12 the problem disappears.
Did you have the same problem and how did you solve it? Thank you.

I just updated to Android 13 on my Zenfone 8 today, and the hotspot settings just disappeared (at least if I navigate through the settings). If i search all settings, I can find them, but trying to turn it on does nothing.
I wonder if this is an Asus problem or an AT&T (my carrier) problem.

I did all the tests, even the hard reset, nothing to do. I also tried to change mobile operator sim. It's just a bug in Android 13.
I asked Asus support, but they didn't give any answer.
Downgraded to Android 12 and that's the only way it works.

1. How did you try to get help from Android support? I was thinking of trying their phone support.
2. How did you downgrade? Is there a way to do with without wiping my phone and without rooting? I found a few guides about it online and they all seemed to require wiping the phone.

Oh, and also it's now taking about 7 minutes to register on the at&t network (as opposed to instantly in Android 12). How could they possibly have let this release into the wild?

2. How did you downgrade? Is there a way to do with without wiping my phone and without rooting? I found a few guides about it online and they all seemed to require wiping the phone.

Write to Asus support, you can find it on the official page. If you have registered your product, put all the data related to model and serial, only then they will move to find a solution to this bug.
For downgrade, you will always find in the support page for your model the firmware to download. Once downloaded, enter it in the internal folder of the phone and you will see that the update notification appears above.
Click and install. Obviously you lose all the data, because it resets to the factory state.

Thanks for the info. It wasn't obvious to me about the phone resetting - for all i knew, Asus might have an intelligent downgrade process that preserved the user data. Too bad they don't.

I also had this issue of the hotspot function disappearing after the Android 13 update. I followed the step to downgrade to 12. This worked, but before I could finish setting up my phone again, it was already automatically updating to 13. I reinstalled 12, and waited to connect to wi-fi to get things restored. Shortly after connecting to wi-fi again, the 13 update started again. I paused the update and then enabled developer options and disabled automatic system updates there, but I am not able to disable auto-updates in the regular system update settings. Is root required to disable this menu option? I have not rooted my phone and would prefer not to, if possible. Any suggestions?
Edit: So far, the phone hasn't resumed the auto-update overnight or following a couple restarts of the phone. The notification remains and I occasionally get prompts to continue the paused update, but I am able to ignore them. I guess I can live with it as is, but if anybody has any other ideas, please share. Thanks.
Edit: Today, I woke to find that the 13 update has downloaded and will install on reboot. I rebooted and let it complete the update to 13. Then, I downgraded to 12 once again. This time around, the option to disallow automatic updates was not greyed-out in system update settings. I disallowed auto-updates. The notification saying the update to 13 is available remained, this time, I was able to dismiss it. I don't know what to think about the previous issues I had, but it seems to have resolved it now.

I didn't see the Andorid 13 update even before the downgrade, I searched for it and installed it if I wanted it.
Adding to my posts above from February 18:
I was able to remain on Android 12, retaining the Wi-Fi hotspot functionality, until this morning. I awoke to find a software update notification message, giving two options: update or later. The message also stated that if I pressed later, it would continue with the update in 30 minutes. I rebooted the phone, and the update notification returned, however, lacking the 30 minute warning. A short while later, the phone began to automatically download the update, despite the option in settings disallowing auto-updates being ticked. I force-stopped the system update app, and it stopped downloading the new update. After a short while, it completed the android 13 system update download anyway. I decided to give the 13 update a try again, seeing that there was a smaller update added to the Asus Bios and Firmware download page on March 16th. I proactively backed up my data, knowing that I would likely need to downgrade to 12 again shortly to regain hotspot functionality. I rebooted to apply the base 13 update; no hotspot functionality, as expected. I then downloaded and applied the March 16th (WW-33.0210.0210.269) update OTA; still no hotspot functionality. I plan to downgrade again to Android 12, but I question how long I will be able to use it before another automatic update to 13 is forced upon me by Asus. Does anyone have any advice as to how to activate the hotspot on 13 or a way to guarantee that 12 will not be auto-updated to 13?
Edit: For anyone who might be having the same issue, here is what I have tried and so far, seems to be working. After downgrading to 12, I did not connect to internet during the initial phone setup process. When I did, the phone would already start automatically downloading the 13 update even before the setup process was finished. After setup, I immediately disabled automatic updates both in the regular system settings and in developer options (after enabling these, of course). I find it interesting that before, even with these two settings to disallow automatic updates in use, the automatic update would begin. The only other step I took this time was to disable my system app for system updates per the following method. https://www.xda-developers.com/disable-system-app-bloatware-android/
I understand that this method is likely used more for added bloatware than for system apps, and I questioned at first if it would even work for a system app. Still, after disabling the system update app, it shows "disabled" under its entry in the complete app list in settings, and the system update options in the settings menu are not visible anymore. The main "system" header in the settings menu does show a red dot with "1" indicating that there is something available within the submenu, but as stated there is nothing within pertaining to system updates since disabling the system update app. So far, there have been no other notifications for the 13 update as before. This system update app is easy to reenable, as shown in the link above, so if I want to download the system update later on, it is no problem. I will add to this post if this method fails, but so far, so good.
