ROG phone 2 wifi wont turn on? - ASUS ROG Phone II Questions & Answers

So i just got my rog 2 phone and installed global rom and root onto it. But now the wifi doesnt turn on and when i restart it takes a long time to start up. Anyone know why this is happening?
When i try to turn on the wifi, it just goes automatically to off.

That is probably 1. You flashed global ROM, your Tencent version is not meant for global rom. It's built for Chinese ROM.
Secondly touching bootloader will disable FOTA completely so all updates will have to be through manually and last but least warranty will be voided.

[Q] Random freeze rebooting Xiaomi Mi5 problem!

I bought new Mi5 and I still didn't put Sim card inside wanted to configure and see what phone can but when I entered configuration menu after 1st power up I manage to choose language and few things more and phone rebooted, then I manage to almost finish configuration then freeze and reboot again, after few tries I finished configuration but freeze (usually only last few seconds) and reboot happen again. Then phone offered me update software which I manage to reach from 3rd time and successfully update only with Mi PC Suite, not from phone update app. Interesting, all flashing proces with Mi PC Suite always is going as should be, without reboots etc... Crap happen only in OS. Now I got latest China stable (I bought phone in China) which has same problem with rebooting. Then I wiped all I can, factory reset etc...nothing helps.
-Still didn't unlock phone in case I need to return it.
-Didn't try global Rom because I can't flash it
I was reading forums and found a lot people have same problem but didn't find what they done on the end to make phone work.
If anyone have some solution, let me know. Returning phone from EU to China is not 1 day Or does someone know if someone in EU can service this if needed?
thanks in advance
huh,
I solved (for now) problem with installing this, developer version of miui 8 from here
http://xiaomiadvices.com/download-miui-8-6616-china-developer-rom-recoveryfastboot/
Downloaded it and installed with English version of MI PC Suite. Developer rom is Chinese (as my default software version in phone) over latest Chinese 7.3.10 miui
With original software phone was restarting, freezing randomly every 30 seconds or 1 minute of usage.
Now need to wait to unlock phone so I can use Global version of rom to get play store etc...

Very strange problem

Hi guys, I have a strange problem with my other Mi 8.
A week ago the screen suddenly turned off while device was still on, so I could connect it to pc and transfer files or listen sound from device. I flashed it through fastboot to stock rom but I didn't solve the problem. After 7 days, the screen turned on and it seems working fine. I think it's not a software problem cause I flashed it, but it can't be a hardware problem cause now it works...
It's a Mi 8 China version, unlocked by unofficial way with global ROM installed: should I unlock it officially? Could be this the problem?
What do you think about? Thank you.

Bought ROG Phone 3 from Aliexpress with global rom installed, how do I update to Android 11?

I could not figure out why the system update always told me I was up to date, then today I found out Android 11 has been out for a while, so I want to update to it, mostly to get resizeable mini-player and other features from Android 11.
I bought the phone with the 865 plus version, 12G ram and 256Gb storage. When I first opened it I got a weird menu, I remember pressing the "continue to load" button somewhere and it booted into Android and I never saw that menu again.
According to the system info I'm on version 17.0823.2007.32, WW Rom.
Can I just download the latest version from the ROG website, put it on my phone via USB and update, will I lose any apps/photo's? Is it even compatible with this Tencent global rom version?
Yes, you should be good, you won't lose your stuff although always advised to take a backup. Download the version you need, place it at the top of your internal storage (i.e not in any folders etc) and reboot. The device should detect the rom and do a system upgrade.
I wonder this too

Hello!
You can do that I'm order to upgrade your phone. You just need to go to the link below and download in your phone the updated firmware and move it to the root of the SD, after that, you reboot your phone and it will automatically identity that you have an update pending, click to the notification and follow the process, at the end you will have to restart your phone and voilà, updated to version 158, which is the latest one.

Question Brand New Redmi note 10 Pro keeps on rebooting

I just bought a brand new redmi note 10 pro 6gb 128gb and on the day of delivery the device keeps on rebooting. There was an update pending and updated to the latest miui version and the problem still persists. It was booting randomly before updating but after updating it just keeps on rebooting. Is there any fix to this or do I need to return this?
Maybe there was something wrong with the update, try factory reset from recovery, or if that doesnt help try flashing latest firmware via fastboot.
So I found a recent development in this. Apparently it only reboots when either the wifi or the mobile network is on.
So I have airplane mode turned off n I have removed the sim card as well and now the phone is not rebooting. But as soon as I click on wifi, it reboots.
I can't factory reset it because I activated Duo mobile in it n to reactivate I need to contact my company. It's a hassle

OP7Pro & Visible Wireless

I've seen a bunch of people asking about getting the One Plus 7 Pro working on Visible Wireless network and thought I would share what has worked for me in case anyone is still looking for a solution.
Some specifics first, I have a OP 7 Pro, GM1917, that's the global version I think? YMMV
Currently running Derpfest 12, mainly because I like how android 12 looks and feels. Still looking for something better since devs haven't released an update since may.
What I have noticed is that OOS version 10.0.2 works with Visible Wireless out of the box, while later versions do not. Seems somewhere after that version that OOS updates broke Visible support.
I first noticed this because I bought the phone off swappa, wanting to upgrade from the crappy Visible Midnight I got to see if I get good service in my area. After installing a custom rom and then using MSM to reflash latest stock when something broke, Visible wasn't working. Which didn't make sense. It had worked before. right? So my thinking was that the original owner had owned the phone long enough to OTA from 10 to 11. Sure enough, downgrading to 10 and then using OTA to upgrade fixed the issue.

So here's my process.
Enable unsigned drivers support for your PC, download and install qualcomm EDL driver.
Backup phone, of course.
Put phone in EDL mode. Run MSM tool with guacamole_21_O.22_191107_repack
OTA update from local file, OnePlus7ProOxygen_21.P.43_OTA_0430_all_2204061153_a32bd850d41a490c.zip (Might work with latest OTA zip, havent tried.)
That will give you OOS 11, almost latest (I think there's like one more update to stable from there, but I'm lazy) with working Visible support.
Alternatively, if you want to make sure that you get legit OOS and not have to rely on zips from the internet, just let OTA update you to latest like normal, or use Oxygen Updater app.
From there, do whatever. Install TWRP, ROM, Magisk, etc.
Keep the files around somewhere so that if something goes wrong, you have everything prepared to fix it on hand.
Enjoy
I've managed to get visible sim working on all A12 roms using a few methods. Downloading an app that adds APN settings if the rom doesn't let you. Then typing in all the apn settings from this reddit post:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Visible/comments/ehdeik
For dun apn type, I used DUN all capitalized and it seems to work fine.
Then this is the key step: swapping the sim card between the two sim slots and restarting the phone repeatedly until it properly recognizes the sim card. If that doesn't work then inserting a different random sim, in my case I inserted my old tmobile sim, then taking it out and putting back the visible sim and switching sim slots if needed.
I'm using a GM1915, tmobile version that's been permenantly unlocked thanks to an xda member called mobbdeep.
right, I'd seen that, but i only have an old tacfone sim that's no longer active. does the sim have to be active for it to work? also, doesn't that need to be done every time you reboot the phone? that seems kind of annoying lol. especially since I reboot my phone sometimes like 2-3 times a day when it refuses to lock onto band 66.

Any old sim should work, my tmobile sim isn't active but forces my phone to change bands. It's also just a one time thing.
