Guys, my asus rog phone 2 came with this firmware "WW_16.0640.1908.12_0". I haven't seen it anywhere before and my device says firmware is up to date.

1910.35 is latest WW rom. You might need to change fingerprint to be able to update, also, you need to manually update the phone, it won't do it automatically... Read the threads around here for both latest rom and changing fingerprint...
Edit, follow this thread

Thanks man. Worked like a charm.

Hey everyone this is my first post and I'd like you all to help as much as you can.
I've had this Note 8 for a little over a year. The current carrier it has is T-mobile. I've notice there are new updates to the note 8 models but I'm still on Android 8.0.0 and Samsung Experience version 9.0. Everytime I go to the settings and try manually update it the message always says my phone is already up-to-date.
Please help.

Sometimes a factory reset can resolve OTA's, just make sure to back up all your data beforehand. You could also download the filmware from Sammobile or updato and flash it with Odin to update it to the current build, using the "homecsc" file will keep your data.

Download this firmware and then use Odin to flash it and if you don't want to lose any of your information that you already have in there, in the .zip folder after you extract it once you'll see all the files you need but there will be 2 CSC files only use the one that says HOMECSC if you use the other one it'll factory reset your device so don't use that one. Make sure you also download the latest version of Odin.. Firmware for download link is https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=4349826312261709167

I have exactly the same issue, with same version (I bought it via ebay).
I also tried to update android to 10 manually, but the message is "installation failed".
If you find a solution please share, I'll do the same.

i bought it via ebay too
i think now the only possibility is to install the update in fastboot mode but I've had some problems in the past with other phones, and I wouldn't want to have any with this too
For me its showing system update failed
Solution
Hi guys,
I solved yesterday this topic and now I run Android 10.
I have followed the tutorial present in xda forum to convert from CN to WW.
Also if the release 16.0631 appear older, after you mount it you will be able to update to Android 10.
Please let me know if you need the links (also YouTube tutorial).
After you complete release installation, go to Asus official site and download the latest official version of v. 16.xxxxx update, locate on internal memory and restart phone. This update will be detected and installed.
After this step, proceed in the same way to download v. 17.xxxx (Android 10) file and install following the same procedure.

This also fixed it for me. I updated to 16.0631.1910.64 then to 17.0210.2001.60-1.1.97 and it worked. Trying to update straight to 17.0210.2001.60-1.1.97 did not work (update failed). I have a tencent rog 2 with a WW fingerprint.
Go to latest android 9 THEN android 10

Thank you very much for this, I couldn't figure out why the update kept failing. I was able to go to the latest WW 9 and now the latest WW 10:good:
Hi guys, I was hoping to see if anyone had some resources available to help out. So I am running version 1910.35 on my ROG phone that is matched to WW on the fingerprint and everything. When I downloaded the newest update from ASUS' website and put it in the correct folder to install and reboot, after selecting install it immediately says that the update failed.
Is there anyone else experiencing an issue like this?

To get to latest A10 you need to first update to last A9 1910.64, then onto A10. You need the full zips, not incremental. Most people can skip versions by doing this method, if it fails you'll have to update 1 by 1 in order of release

Sorry, I misread, I thought you were on 1908.12, 1912.22 is a wrong version I think. 1st A10 was 2001.60.
Check ur version again. Once you know which you have, go to https://www.asus.com/Phone/ROG-Phone-II/HelpDesk_BIOS/
Download each update in order

Your fingerprint probably doesn't match your rom. Install device info hw from playstore and check what your fingerprint is under 'system'. It'll probably be WW rom with CN fingerprint. You need to follow one of the guides to change fingerprint to be able to update manually with zip updates
Hi all,
In November 2019 I purchased this Tencent ROG phone ii off eBay. It came with a ww firmware, however it seems like I am unable to update to any version on the Asus website.
I have attached my HW Info. What is the path I need to take to update this thing to android 11?
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
Yes, you can't if your device is Tencent, even if you changed the fingerprint to ww and all the other stuff. There is a thread and someone made a small app or something that enables OTA ups for devices like yours (and mine) but I forgot the name and with the miriad of posts here, srsly I can't find it, lol. That thing work by changing the IMEI and other stuff iirc?? but since I'm lazy af it was too troublesome for me so I'm doing the upgrades like this: download the zip file from Asus website, move it to Internal root directory, I mean I just move with File manager from Downloads to Internal and restart the phone. Bam! after restart the phone asks me, do you wanna update? And I'm like O yeah baby, do you have to have to even ask? And thats all. Anyway as of this hours they didnt up the WW version there yet. There was a TW version for testing if I understood corectly but it's gone. Just wait for it
Thanks for your reply. If someone could link me with that app that would be nice.
I have tried every manual update on the Asus website (A9 and A10 ones) and I get "update failed" when trying to run them. This would indicate that i need to flash Raw? The thing is, I thought if I had a ww fingerprint I would be able to at least run the manual updates from Asus?
Also if someone has the version directly after 1908.12.0, I could try update to that via manual update, however I can't find that version anywhere on the internet. I believe 1908.12.1.1 exists somewhere, but it's not on the Asus website
I think u can upgrade by downloading the RAW firmware and install it
I would have to unlock my bootloader, clear all my data and flash via PC to use the raw firmware right? or would i be able to put it in the root directory of my phone and launch it that way?
Yes you have to use your pc and unlock the bootloader and everything it's not that hard and there's a lot of guides here u can use
No worries, thank you. I will flash directly to the android 11 WW Raw once that is released. I'm assuming there will be no problem going straight from 9 to 11 via a raw flash?
U welcome. And I don't think there will be any problems going straight to 11
android 10 on ROG Phone 2 is a mess, im also using Tencent version

Yeah that's why i remained on A9, i didn't feel like it was worth the effort to upgrade. However A11 has some cool features with google home that i want.

A10 was a mess in the beginning, in the end it was better than A9.
A11, is even better than both. Battery life has been improved by about 15%.

Sounds good. Does anyone know roughly how long it takes for the raw to show up? Can i raw flash to 10, then manually upgrade to 11?

There's never a known timeline.
You can't use the images provided by Asus in their downloads? The manual OTA?
Nope i can not use the images provided by asus in their downloads. No. That's why i started this thread. I get the dreaded update failed message and nothing happens.
