Re-Lock Stock Bootloader on Sprint Oreo? - LG V40 Questions & Answers

I've been trying to figure out if it's possible to Re-Lock the Bootloader on a stock rom and bootloader for a sprint unlocked phone running Android 8. I couldn't find anything in the forums. Anyone have an idea?

If you can get a hold of your v40's stock KDZ and do a refurbish flash of that KDZ in LGUP with the correct DLL's applied to LGUP's common folder so it reads your phone as connected it should wipe any modifications and reflash the stock locked bootloader. But of course will also wipe ur rom and user data. The guides on how to do this are here in the forum.

Gotcha, thanks for the info. I think that's where I'm at, I'm unable to find a KDZ for sprint.

Mainly because Sprint hasn't leaked any of their KDZ...

How do I put a new rom on the HTC One?

With the GS2 I just got the file, put it on Odin and it was done so I have no clue about HTC phones. My phone is unlocked but has my networks firmware on it and I cannot update to newer firmware unless I get the stock firmware I'm guessing. So I'm just wondering where I can get that and how I do it?
Thanx.

Just about everything on htc phones is done through custom recovery.
If you have bootloader unlocked the you will need to flash a custom recovery I recommend twrp. After that just make a backup then download and flash a rom.
You can download and flash roms with just the phone no computer needed once you have the custom recovery

No I mean my network doesn't lock the phone but you get their firmware which is annoying. I have no idea how to check the bootloader, never even heard of one before, everything was much easier with Samsung lol.

Custom ROMs are tweaked so more than likely it will be snappier and more battery efficient compared to stock ROMs. Also some custom ROMs have different themes, wallpaper or look than a stock ROM. The only ROM I know that doesn't have ANY visual changes is ARHD ROMs by mike1986.

You need to flash a custom recovery to be able to flash a custom ROM. Read the guide that was mentioned a couple of post above. The steps år basically like this.
Unlock the bootloader through the HTCdev website
Flash a custom recovery
Make a nandroid backup of your stock rom from recovery
Download and copy a custom ROM zip to the SD card
Flash the custom ROM from recovery
No, Samsung was not any easier to modify . I have rooted and modified several devices from both Samsung and HTC. You just have to learn the steps.

[Q] Need help getting back to stock

Hello, I have rooted (s-on) my Htc one m8 Harmon/Kardon edition. I have seen a lot of threads and guides showing how to do this but none of them seem to apply to my specific cid, which is SPCS_004. I haven't been able to find any compatible nandroid backups. I think maybe im just in over my head and I don't want to mess anything up....can anyone point me in the right direction?

Yes it will wipe your phone just like it came from the factory, so backup anything important to your PC.
Yes there a HK RUU's and non HK RUU's in the thread I linked.
You can download the RUU directly from HTC:
http://www.htc.com/us/support/htc-one-m8-harman-kardon-edition-sprint/news/
It is located at the bottom of the page. But you might want to wait a few days and download the Lollipop RUU when it releases. It will replace the current KK version once approved and FOTA is pushed out.

Here are some things to try.
Did you re-lock your bootloader?
Try a different USB port (USB2 work best)
Try a different PC.
To get back to bootloader press power vol up until the screen turns black then hold vol down.
If you know how to use adb/fastboot commands you can open a cmd and type
fastboot reboot-bootloader

I did not re lock my bootloader. I tried a different usb port, with no luck. I don't have another PC to try it with. What should I do to at least get my phone working in the meantime? even if it isn't stock? Can I just flash a rom through recovery?

If you are s-on you have to re-lock the bootloader for it to work.
You should be able to flash a rom thru recovery.

Firmware update problems after rooting

Hey , im new to rooting and the forums so sorry if somethings are not properly explained.
I recently managed to root my uk variant m7 unlocked to any service with the latest twrp recovery.
I have recently found the venom rom which i would like to install to futher customize my rooted device, but i need to upgrade my android to 5.0.2 and i am currently on 4.2.2.
in the toolbar it says 'system update avaliable' and after installing it says 'system update ready' and im guessing this will bring me to 5.0.2 firmware. after clicking on it it reboots my phone and for some reason enters the recovery. from this point i do not know what to do.
so to summarise, i need to upgrade my m7 from 4.2.2 to 5.0.2 nut when i do it enters my twrp recovery and i do not know what to do
system details:
HTC One M7 UK variant unlocked to any service
rooted with SuperSU
Stock rom (4.2.2)
Stock kernel
Thanks

You can't update your phone in its current status. You need stock recovery installed, unmodified /system files and /data/preload which is deleted during the htcdev bootloader unlock process. You'll probably need to use a RUU or something else.

Unfortunately, this is not really relevant info, post the output of "fastboot getvar all" command, remove your IMEI # before posting.
so i have to unroot my phone
great this is going to take a while :/

A factory reset only wipes user data. Root files are stored in /system partition which is not affected by a factory reset so short answer no, like I said you'll probably need a RUU or something else (stock odex rom/nandroid backup/guru reset rom) to reset your phone back to stock. Post the output of "fastboot getvar all"

Its possible to download the update elsewhere and install it through twrp recovery?
If yes, where i can find these updates in zip form?
If not, what's the simple option to install the update?
thanks

If your phone is S-off, you can download the Ota zip files and install them incrementally (can't skip a version) using stock recovery. That doesn't change the fact that all files in /system and /data/preload must be unmodified.
Imo, the simplest way to update if your phone isn't stock is with a RUU. If your phone is stock, reflash stock recovery and update with Ota, if it's stock and soff you can update with Ota zip files if you can find all the ones you need.

New user d415

Hi guys I got this old lg d415 from my cousin and Wana install some roms on it since I'm a noob on this device I need some help regarding what to do unlock bootloader or what .... I see that d415 has a unlocked bootloader or no ?
Its bootloader is already unlocked just root and flash twrp. kingroot to root and flashify to flash the recovery seem easiest. *Just make sure to update to LP beforehand. here's a link for recovery. You may be able to get a more updated version of the recovery off the twrp site. Also I suggest using the most recent lineage build. lineage

Ypu wrong you have to unlock before flashing unless you are planning on bricking your device. You first have to root it and then flash laf with zeros u lock bootlosder, flash recocery , thenflash rom
Please don't tell people stuff you don't know about. The T-Mobile variant comes with its bootloader already unlocked. Also there is no laf to mess with.

You could always just stay with unlocked bootloader like I do, I keep root as well, so you can ignore the last part, they are only optional extras if you don't want to keep root etc..
