Hi, i have a question about the speakers, i recently went to a shop and got a screen protector that is applyed with a gel, i said to the them to be carefull so the gel wont get in the speakers, they replayed its ok that the gel doesnt harm, when they removed the bubles and gel from the under the screen they scrape it in the direction of the speaker on the top of the phone, the " ear speaker " , after they finished the job i tested the speakers with a song, the top speaker sounded less powefull then the bottom one, i arrived home give it a little hair dryer so the gel evaporate faster then i let stay in a game to heat for 2 hours ( they recommand that i charge it or let so the phone heat up and the gel stick and dry) , after 3 hours i tested with another phone were i installed a sound metter, and that confirmed that my top speaker was 10db less then the bottom one, it is normal or they just "broke" my top speaker ? ( Can some1 test this with a sound metter to see if the top speaker has a 10 db difference then the bottom one ? )
thank you.

Sorry bro, I don't have a sound meter but the speakers sound the same volume up close to my ear...
They're the same from what I can tell.
Yeah I don't notice any difference in the speaker volumes. I think they may have damaged it.
Also no decent/ standard screen protector has gel? I'm not sure what they put on your device. My advice would be to go back and have it removed, and to investigate with asus support for damage after they remove the screen protector, the phone should still be covered by warranty.
A few new sound meter test result... Here is the link to them!

I'd to nuke a few posts that commenced to become a off-topic rant. In this thread a valid question has been posted in the Q&A sub-forum. If you can support and help, please do so; it's really appreciated by all members and the moderators' team. And if you can't add value to the thread, just walk on and refrain from posting. Help if you can, and be quiet if you can't or don't want.
I like to remind everybody that on XDA all members, no matter if developer, "normal" user or wearing whatever title, are supposed to post comments in a civil manner, no calling names, neither lack of respect, flaming nor impolite.

If you're lucky, the gel may have shrunk a little on drying, so you might be able to clean the speaker grille with a fine bristled toothbrush.
Be very careful though. If you have access to a magnifying glass, that'd help.

Hey all, this probably will sound weird but I have to do a sociology report on a community of individuals and I chose the XDA forum. I choose this community because of how the majority of us have probably never have and never will see one another, yet we interact as if we’ve known individuals personally. At least that’s my observation lol. So any information, comments and help is greatly appreciated.
So here are a couple of questions I’m looking to answer.
1. Why and when was the site started?
2. Who started the site?
3. How are admins and mods chosen?
4. (For anyone who chooses to answer) why do you frequent this site instead of others?
Thank you Wroigo

The answer is in the Forum and in the Intro. Some aspects of the devices were not clear and there were no answers from the manufacturers or the carrier brands that put other names on the devices.

I think you better ask this to the Moderators. As some of the questions seem to be private, you better should ask them via PM or interviewing them personally. Remember some of the things here posted lay over the thin line between legal and alegal (I would not say illegal), so some people won't answer to you if they don't know you.

First, I found the best solutions. Now, I began to cook and to share my small experience, so that I think it's my way to give back to the Universe everything I could "obtain" coming to this site.
Thank you Wroigo[/QUOTE]

As for the sociology of Fora, sometimes I think a forum or the Net in general is like a kind of shell, a cocoon if you prefer in which people behave differently than they would if they met face to face. Some will behave in an extremely polite way, constantly apologising fror their lack of knowledge. Others do the opposite, flame , criticise, use rude language and seemingly look for arguments. In other words behaviour shows a wide an often more extreme range of behaviour than in direct contact relationships.
It's very like the difference between how pedestrians behave compared to the way folk behave when driving.. If someone walks past you in the street it does not matter - but if a car speeds past you on the motorway, well that testosterone kicks in and you speed up and try to overtake the son of a gun. And as you re-overtake you may deliver some rude hand signal and the battle is on. (If you and that guy had met as pedestrians you might be all sweetness and light, but in your car, well, your remote, protected and show more violent behaviour. So it is with internet fora, they give anonymous people a shell, a hidden identity from which they can be more rude and agressive than normal or on the contrary more meek and pathetic than normal. Sociologically speaking the internet forum is a safety valve that allows extreme behaviour to go relatively un-punished. What's a ban, well nothing really, there are hundreds of fora, but if I should swear and flame with real people face to face, well, I would be sacked from my job and possibly locked in jail. It is freedom of expression without the normal constraints of societies norms and values. Having said that, a complete free-for-all would be anarchy (look at the Dev and Hacking Section) and this is why at least a little Moderation is needed.
..... and that's what good old XDA-Devs does for you ....

Sorry about my lack of knowledge but why do you sound like a dim-witted rake?
4. (For anyone who chooses to answer) why do you frequent this site instead of others?
Because I like to compare my life to losers and people with IQ's below 125
I've Pm'ed a couple of the mods and admins but haven't recieved any response. and thanks for replying guys a little info beats no info
For me, I emailed someone and they were seriously making me mad. I spammed them, & they called the police. Police called me, saying that spam was "Harrasment" and we talked and hung up.
Also, I killed a guy with a knife in Modern Warfare 3 XD

I plead the fifth.

One more bad thread idea.
This site is world wide, and different countries/states monitor online activity differently. But more importantly, XDA has rules. Follow them.
Mods, put the beer down for a sec and close this one. If you have to pee first, we'll wait.

Self medicating with natural herbs.. Which led to thinking more clearly and efficiently, happiness, euphoria, laughter, conversation with friends, a treatment/cure for MANY illnesses, the ability to socialize when I otherwise wouldn't have, increased lung capacity, reduction of depression and anxiety, pain relief, nausea relief, ability to sleep, favorable perception, a better quality of life, and a plethora of other mental and physical benefits. It's a slippery slope.

I will just close this one for a few reasons...
a) I just woke up and this is my breakfast.
b) The subject matter really isn't appropriate.
c) I'd be tempted to tell people things that I really shouldn't

Back in the mid 2000s I was abducted and forced to administer forums and work with Moderators at XDA.
If you find this note please contact the authorities and spread the word in the media.
This has severely affected my medical status:
One teenaged son, and other abnormalities
Rectal examination reveals minimal tooth decay
Numb from the toes down
On discharge, alive but without permission
Skin pale, but present
Large brown stool ambulating in the hall
Constipated for most of his life
Depressed since starting appointments with me in 1990
Knee better on second day, gone on the third
Patient refused autopsy
No previous history of suicide
Suffers from everything but Hypochondria
Wife states he was very hot in bed last night
Abnormal lover function
Chronic ORD sufferer.
Something very big in sub atomic physics.
Resucitate only after obtaining patient consent.

For context... @MikeChannon is 109 years old and he still has a 56k modem, so please, don't post any high resolution picture here or you'll use up his bandwidth for the year.
JK....Mike has been around longer than anyone (he clearly has no friends) and he's been the glue that has held the community together for a decade. As much as we joke, I appereciate Mike's involvement and work over so many years. He is a _true_ OG!

Really!! 56k is a thing now and what... you don't have to dial up.
Wowsie. Not to worry I actually get by very nicely with 28.8 kilobits per second which I find goes about the same speed @svetius speaks.... and sounds very similar actually

I got interested in this after being in prison with a JP5. I've followed that game fairly closely while not actually doing any work myself beyond movies and music.
Recently someone going by Tony, Tdogg and some 352 phone number scammed the s--t out of me. Got me for $300. He's on EBay and Reddit ripping people off for the JP6 security removal software.
The thought of having that key in prison has made me want it. Bad.
So, I'm a novice. Let's work together and solve this for all the people behind bars who just want a taste of freedom.
I'm with you and I'm still in prison the problem is the only thing you can get prisoners to help each other do for free is stay here or they'll even work together to put the fences back up trust me ive seen it with my own two eyes at a maximum security prison inmates working side by side for free to help each other repair the fence after a tornado tore it down. Lol they repaired it to help each other stay inside.
What's up man I . Got had to o..Im still looking for jp6 hack
Thread has been closed as hacking of JP6's is considered an illegal activity in some countries! For this reason XDA doesn't support respective discussions and advice.

9. Don't get us into trouble.
Don't post copyrighted materials or do other things which will obviously lead to legal trouble. If you wouldn't do it on your own homepage, you probably shouldn't do it here either. This does not mean that we agree with everything that the software piracy lobby try to impose on us. It simply means that you cannot break any laws here, since we'll end up dealing with the legal hassle caused by you. Please use common sense: respect the forum, its users and those that write great code.

Just a line to thank you for accepting me into the group. I'm a retired VoIP engineer, prior to that a Marine Radio Officer in the Merchant Navy although I started off as a Morse Code basher in the Royal Navy at 15...so quite a long time in what they now call IT. I like to keep my mind active so pulling out lots of computer stuff I've collected over the years and getting them up to speed with new SSD and RAM plus the latest W11 OS (with a few hacks) As I get them fettled up they will be going on eBay or Facebook market place so I will finally put a smile on the wife's face, she hates all my 'clutter' Sad to see some of these Sony Vaio's go as I've collected what I thought were the best laptops money could buy but then Sony pulled the plug on support ho hum. I will no doubt be asking lots of stupid questions, bear in mind I'm just a morse basher with a bit of age dabbling in something that interests me!
All the best

They sure do, and so do we...that adjustment can be a rough one! From an environment where frequent use of certain four letter expletives is part of the everyday vocabulary, to the "civilized" part of society where such things result in a trip to your not so friendly Human Resources representative.

Odd. I wonder if that was a Cold War thing. Anyway, welcome to XDA, a lot of us (especially the moderator staff like @Oswald Boelcke and @Badger50 ) are 60+ so you aren't so out of place! Never too old to learn!

Also from me a very warm welcome! I commenced to serve my country, NATO i.e. the free world in the Western hemisphere at that time, too. Actually much easier than the times afterwards, which I experienced until my retirement or monitor nowadays. But I think we better don't turn into any political discussions on XDA.
