Hello,
I have refurbished unlocked Note 8 and recently when checking for updates realised it hasn't received any security updates since Sept 2018 but says it's up to date. When further investigating with Phone Info app it showed following message on Refurbishment check: It looks like the firmware has been modified. Your phone doesn't have active CSC code, CSC version and CSC country.
When searched the imei number it says it's been made in India, I live in Europe. Do you have any advice what can I do? I read I could flash stock firmware but how do I find the right one? Should I do it for the country I live in or the one phone has been manufactured for? I haven't done anything like this and I don't want to brik my phone. Any help is much appreciated

I bought a Factory Unlocked Note 8 from Amazon model name is SM-N950U . I use Phone Info it told me my model is SM-N950UZKAXAA and working on XAA csc. It's running on Verzion Firmware but has no bloatware and carrier provide info is XAA/XAA/VZW . But i haven't receive any OTA update until now. I used smart switch it told me "Your current version is lastest", and verizon software update told me "The current firmware is not supported !". But i try many times to flash verizon firmware version but my phone still not have any carrier bloatware and still have no OTA update !
Anyone told me how to receive OTA update with my phone ! Although i flash many carrier firmware but it still XAA/XAA/VZW !
I used to flash N950U1 firmware but it make my wifi connection on my phone not perfect, it's slow down to much !
Hi guys,
I know this was asked, but my case in kinda different.
I have UK version of the phone, BTU and CSC seems to be correct, as others that complained about updates not being pushed had CSC EUX.
Though phone is from UK, it was purchased in Malta as local network operator, not locked or branded to their network, as there is no FW for Malta, they simply get UK unlocked phones.
Any idea how to get updates?
Shall I flash latest FW with odin? Thanks...

Yes you need to flash it with Odin because EUX is a dead circuit.
Thanks. Will do it definitely.
But strange enough is that it's showing BTU not EUX, at least on screenshot.
How stupid is this thing that they kill your phone for updates... :/

I had that issue when i started my phone first time when u purchased it, i use no SIM and that caused the phone to capture EUX CSC instead of NEE (which is the SW for Nordic countries) .. I had to return the phone and i bought another one.
I bought myself a supposedly brand-new, in-box SM-N960F/DS (so this is the dual-SIM version of the Note 9) using the Exynos 9810 from an online retailer in SEA. As it turns out, the phone has an Android patch level of Nov 2019, so I wanted to update it to the latest Android version available for the phone (Nov 2021). And that's when I found out that my set was an imported set from some other country in SEA, and about Samsung's *wonderful* CSC region-locking 'feature'.
Okay, so basically, I'm going to try to go to a Samsung service centre to see if they can change the CSC on my new phone so that I can receive OTA updates. Failing which, and this is the reason I am making this post, I would like to change the CSC myself and update the phone - using Odin, if I have to.
The phone is using what I believe to be stock ROM with a baseband version of N960FXXS4CSJ1, and a Service provider SW ver. of SAOMC_SM-N960F_OXM_XXV_PP_0010. From what I was able to gather, this means that I have a multi-CSC (OXM) firmware, but it is currently set to generic Vietnam (XXV). The two CSC combinations currently reported are XXV/XME,XXV/SKC.
Now, I have tried to change the CSC by using Google Phone and dialling the *#*#27262826#*#*, and that didn't work for whatever reason. I tried the *#272*IMEI#, and that didn't work either, for whatever reason. I guess I will have to flash a new firmware in myself.
I currently have downloaded via Bifrost both the XXV and the XME latest firmware versions (Security level Nov 2021 as of now). I do not intend to root the phone or anything like that (that said, AIDA64 reports that my device is rooted, for whatever reason). I have also downloaded the Samsung USB drivers for Windows and Odin 3.14.1 (both patched and unpatched). I don't know where I can get the OXM version of the firmware, which would be best, because dual-SIM allows me to slot in an Aussie SIM when I do travel over there.
I would greatly appreciate it if I could be advised as to whether I can simply flash the XME firmware and then receive OTA updates thereafter, or do I flash the XXV firmware and keep a watchout for future updates manually. Or, indeed, what my other options are. Step-by-step instructions would be nice, although I intend on following the tutorial as listed here: https://www.xda-developers.com/how-to-update-samsung-galaxy-smartphone/
Hopefully, I will retain the dual-SIM functionality, along with VoLTE, Wi-Fi Calling, Call recording, and so on and so forth.
Thanks in advance!
just download latest firmware for your phone from here https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/ (you can select country and operator)
put your phone on download mode and flash with odin. Done!
Does that mean I can disregard what the current CSC is, and I can choose whichever CSC (country) I am currently in regardless of what the Note 9 is set to at the moment?
Greetings all; would appreciate any insights as to whether it will be safe to flash the XME or XXV firmware into my device. I'm more than happy to provide additional information if that would help.
I live in the UK and I purchased my Samsung Galaxy S10 SM-G973F from Amazon. I still do not have the Android 12 update and when I looked at my phone I found that the Country Code is AUT which I am told is Switzerland. I have had the phone a while and have had updates previously but Android 12 is not one of them
I have tried to do a software update on the phone and using Smart Switch on my PC but both say my software is Android 11 and that it is up to date.
I see on the internet posts suggesting the CSC on android phones can be changed but I have tried several methods without success and they are for specific models and I can't find one specifically for the S10.
I have rooted several of my phones in the past but would prefer not having to root this one.
Does anyone know how I can change my CSC to BTU. Can I just Odin install the latest Official Samsung Android 12 UK firmware to change it or would that not work?
Also I have used the Phone info app and that states that the Firmware CSC Code is BTU and the Active CSC Code is XEU?
Would appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks
I purchased an unlocked S10 from Best Buy in Canada and it ended up being a US version of the phone (Samsung support says it's originally from AT&T). It currently has One UI 3.1, Android 11, and the December 1, 2021 patch - all of which appear to be outdated - but attempting a software update on the phone says the software is up to date and Smart Switch also says there's no update.
I've spoken to 8 or 9 Samsung agents but, to put it politely, they've been completely useless and my local Samsung store said they "won't even touch" my phone because it's from the US. I know people will say to flash the new firmware with Odin, but I'm using a mac and Odin seems to be Windows-only. Is there any way for me to get updates on my phone?
