My CrashStar HardCase and 9D Tempered Glass
After trying 3 different cases, I always return to the stock one. It's the most comfortable in hand, doesn't have any sharp edges, unless my hands are really dirty it's not slippery, doesn't make phone look bigger like solid colored ones and is thin enough to not bother me.. Blue Nillkin frosted comes close to it, but for some reason it hurts my hands after prolonged one-hand use.
I would love to use the phone without any case, but the glass back is too slippery and camera lenses protrude too much. I miss the old days with non slippery plastic phones with flush camera lenses. I can't understand this new trend with glass phones on which almost everyone slaps some kind of case, so you can't see the phone back anyway and it usually looks fugly as hell.

Agree. What's the point of a glass back? So the back as well as the front can crack when you drop the phone? It's more resistant to scratches but almost nobody uses it without a case anyway. It's only good for looking and feeling premium out of the box.
For a budget phone, it's especially stupid because I'd rather they spend the money any where else and give me a lighter phone.

Conclusion:
Overall a very good case. Actually makes the phone look very good. Especially the back where the phone looks slick. The fact that the bottom and top are protected halfway scares me, however i can take care of the phone well so it depends on you.
The case feels quite slippery when you hold it up, so you have to grip it tightly.
Looks good on the sides and all round. Generally a very nice case to have.
I love it.

If you keep dropping your phone you definitely need a cover. I dont think this is available for NS4G though. You'll have to look for a similar one.

1) remove the "insert" from the smart-cover case (attachment 1 and 2). I used a Stanley knife and some gentle brute-force. :silly:
2) place double-sided tape where the insert was (attachement 3).
3) stick the TPU case inside the smart-cover one (other attachements).

this is great. I wish a company would create something like this professionally. I too like the corner protection of the tpu. the TPU material obsorbs the impact when the tablet hits the ground. I have tpu cases on my other devices and they have been saved by the tpu case. But the tpu case doesn't offer much of screen protection outside of you buying a screen protector. The smart case idea is perfect. It protects the screen and double protects the back. you can use it to hold up your tablet. I really like what you did.
I did something like this for my acer a500 and might do this for the N7 as well.

I never thought to do this. I have a tpu skin on mine now and ordered a smart cover case to use. But the poetic slimline case ... I wonder if no can just detach the smart cover part off that and super glue it to the tpu skin .... Hmmmmm

My other idea is to use a similar TPI or hardback case stuck to a car mount to create a smart looking in-car solution rather than using one of those universal adjustable types.

My Speck Fitfolio case arrived this morning but the magnet is too strong and sends the tablet to sleep when the case is folded behind, so it will be sent back. This could well be the next option.
Aleemz, i own both official Asus case and Puro Zeta slim.
Second one, puro, feels really solid. I think, it's of higher quality, than Nillkin. There is nothing in details i can complain so far, except it is not "smart".
I can make some dslr photos only after 2nd of January, when camera will be available.

You can try to make screen for a magnet field : put a thin list of metal foil (or a metal grid) between the backside of your nexus and case.

Added: i think, foil and grid must be of iron, not of Alu. Please Google aabout screening from constant magnet fields

also what type of material is the screen flap made out of ?

Flap is made of soft-touch material (its hard to compare this material with smth, but imo its similar with a backside of N7, but without dots)
Body is made of hard plastic. Its thickness varies from ~1.5 mm (on the edges) to ~1 mm.
Designed for grouper (wi-fi), not for tilapia (3G), because microphone cutouts are misplaced on my tilapia, but i'm using voice search without a problem.
do you know somewhere i can buy this case in the USA ?

Looks good! The only thing I don't like is the stylus loop, not gonna ever be getting a stylus and feel any case with the loop detracts from the overall clean lines of a case!

No stylus for myself either. A person with a steady hand and an exacto or utility knife would be able to remove that loop without hardly a trace of it ever being there.

The Smart Cover: I have three of them in black, white, and "military green." The quality is actually very decent and it doesn't make the phone much thicker. If you are after a case that covers every part of the phone, I'd recommend it. If I had to pick just one color, I'd choose the brownish green one. There's also a real-leather smart cover but it seems to be out of stock.
The Real-Wood Shell Case: I have two, bamboo and the darker one (I think the tree is called Dalbergia in English). This just covers the back and the sides of the phone, leaving the front exposed. The wood on the back is very nice but although the edge is very well made, it's still plastic, and the metal frame being covered by it would look way better otherwise. Wouldn't really hurt them to make this part out of metal, of which they have an oversupply in China anyway... Still not bad though. Of the two, the lighter one pairs better with the phone, mostly due to the lighter bezel. There is also a way to have the glass back of your phone replaced with the same choices of wood, although I wouldn't do that as it's permanent and the glass is going to be more durable.
The Fiber-Textured Shell Case: I have it in grey, and it doesn't really pair up well with the golden bezel on the phone. It's also not going to be very durable, neither is it as nice to touch as it's supposed to be. I wouldn't recommend it. Anyway, it seems to be out of stock now.
Finally, the Transparent Shell Case: a very simple, no-nonsense one, and it lets the phone keep its original look. Not really thinner than the cases above though, so don't but it for this reason.
To sum it up, from among the ones I have, if you want the whole phone covered - I'd get the military green, if only the back and the sides - the bamboo one.
